Artemis POV
Slowly, Perseus shuffled out from behind the tree, and walked up to me. My hunters were glaring daggers at him, and he hadn't even said a word yet. When he finally reached us he faced me, and looked at me in the eye. Gosh his eyes were so green. Beautiful green. After a minute of staring, he did the most surprising thing ever. He dropped down and kneeled at my feet. He didn't say anything, just kneeled. While I saw this as a sign of respect and greatly appreciated it, Phoebe saw it as an opportunity to beat him. She went up to him, and kicked him hard in his rib cage. When she kicked him, I could hear the sound of impact and Perseus stifled a sob at being hit so hard. I expected him to get up and start beating up Phoebe, but he just stayed still and kneeled. After a while, I finally lost my patience and yanked him up to his feet, and saw tears on his face for the 5th time today.
"Why would you kneel for so long Perseus," I asked, curiously.
"Millady I have just been given a new purpose in life, and am not ready to be beaten up by your hunters for mistreating you." Well that didn't work so well for him, I thought drily. He still had got a good kick from Phoebe, and was wincing from the pain even now. I shrugged it off.
"Today, you may rest Perseus. From tomorrow, however, I want you up and ready to do your chores. Come to my room at 6:00, and I will give you your list of chores. I smirked at that thought.
Perseus simply bowed his head, and walked off towards a tent Thalia had just set up, with the name Perseus on the front of it. Perseus entered it, and within minutes, I could tell he was asleep. The girls were all still crowding around me, when it was still midday and they had work to do.
"Now back to work girls, chop chop," I told them, going back to my daily schedule.
Percy POV
When I woke up the next day, I realized that the sun was already up. Judging by the time, it was probably 8:00. Wait 8:00! Shit! I was meant to be up by 6:00. Quickly, I got up and put some clothes on. Afterwards, I ran to Lady Artemis' tent. When I got there, I immediately knew that I would be in trouble. From the look Lady Artemis was giving me, I would be lucky to leave without at least one major injury!
"Where HAVE you been!" Lady Artemis yelled, looking red and definitely annoyed.
"I'm sorry Millady. I slept in a bit. What do I have to do for my chores?"
"You're SORRY!" Is that all you say. I hope this doesn't happen again Perseus Jackson or I will personally grant your death wish." I gulped. The last thing I wanted was an angry Artemis.
"It won't Millady," I assured her. She gave me a dirty look, then handed me a piece of paper. When I saw the list of things on it, my eyes widened. Lady Artemis noticed this and smirked.
"Any problems, Perseus?" she asked.
"No Millady," I sighed. This was not going to be easy, I thought.
"Well then get started," she told me. "I certainly don't want you having to stay awake in the night to finish these!" Now she was smiling wide. I didn't want her to see that she was getting on my nerves, so I simply bowed and exited the tent. Time to start my chores.
My chores were as followed:
Make breakfast
Wash the clothes
Sharpen 10000 arrows
Cook Dinner
The part I couldn't believe was the arrow sharpening. That would take ages to complete. Sighing, I went to the dining pavilion for my first task. Breakfast. Great! Sadly, I was not the one eating this time. When I arrived there, I saw that all the hunters were not happy. I guess they weren't used to having their breakfast so late. I mean seriously it was only 8:00! As soon as I got their, a hunter named Hela immediately rounded on me.
"Why are you late boy!" she spat. Instead of answering, I simply asked her, "What would you like to eat for breakfast?"
"Lady Artemis makes us fried egg with sausages every day. But I wouldn't think that a male could do that!" Sighing, I raised my hand and willed for eggs with sausages to appear in front of Hela. When they appeared, her eyes, along with the rest of the hunters, widened. Immediately she started wolfing it down, and was already half way through before she remembered that she was meant to hate me.
"Boy this is disgusting!' she told me, but it wasn't very convincing seeing as she was shoving food into her mouth. I raised an eyebrow.
"This is the food from Lady Hesita's hearth! To disgrace this is to disgrace Lady Hesita herself!" At this comment, Hela went bright and muttered something about misspeaking and it never happening again. Once that was cleared, I asked the rest of the hunters what they wanted and served it to them. Out of all 16 hunters, only Thalia asked me nicely, as she was my cousin and we had spent so much time together. I skipped breakfast and went straight to chore number 2: washing.
Artemis POV
After breakfast, I was feeling quite bored and decided to see how Perseus was doing with his chores. He must've been washing up now. After giving the hunters their hunting instructions, I went over to the lake and hid behind a tree. There, I saw Perseus dump all the clothes into the river, using the water to clean everything up. One peculiar thing I noticed, however, was that every time there was an undergarment, a watery hand would pick it up and put it into a separate basket. He did this for a good few minutes, until he set them down and waited for them to dry. Well he was going to be here for a while! I went back to camp and looked at the meat my hunters had brang for me to prepare. Quickly, I skinned both of the cows, and started chopping them up into cubes for cooking. Well this would take a while!
Percy POV
After serving everyone dinner, I knew that I would not be able to serve myself. My gift from Hesita only allowed me to give food to others. However, I could not provide food for myself! I guess this gift was only meant to ease my chores (and believe me it most certainly did!) I stared longingly at the burger Lady Artemis was eating, and hunger once again started to become my enemy. For gods sake I was a guardian, not a slave! As we left, Artemis seemed to notice how I hadn't ate. Frowning, she asked me, "why haven't you are Perseus."
