Thalia POV
Without any hesitation, I sprinted out of my test into the cool outside air. My mind was clouded by millions of questions, but one stuck out. How could Artemis do this? Did she really think that killing Percy would clear her innocence as well as guilt? This was a mistake. I know that Artemis has been my leader for ages, but Goddess or not, I will stand up against her if it would mean Percy survives: I owe him my life and much more after what I did, I thought as I began my sprint towards Perseus.
The wind whipped my hair as I frantically made a dash for Percy. Hunters had also heard the scream. Some cheered me on, some called me a disgrace to the hunt. I didn't care. All that mattered was getting Percy away in one piece. One alive piece that is. My options were low, but I'm pretty sure that I prayed to Poseidon and Apollo in hope that they would hear my message and save the Hero of Olympus.
The biggest shock I got was when Artemis came out of her tent as I was nearing Percy's tent. She was wearing an extremely short nightgown and looked very confused. It seemed as if she had decided to change, bit halfway through, decided not to because on top of her nightgown was her hunters jacket, inside out, and a hunter hat the wrong way round.
"Someone screamed," she yawned. It was obvious that she was tired and I could tell that she had even been crying before her sleep due to the redness of her eyes and fading year streaks. I was about to start interrogating her before Percy decided to scream again, only louder and much more urgent, again followed by a "stop Artemis!" When my mistress heard this, she seemed alarmed, fearful, awake and (don't ask me how I knew) an urge to drink some english breakfast tea. Without a second thought, she said, "hurry up Thalia, we need to see what's happened here." Then, she too ran off into the distance with me treking behind her, struggling to keep up with all the guilt and fear weighing me down.
It took us 2 whole minutes to get to Percy's tent, which for some reason was at least half a mile away from our camp, right next to the dense forest.
I never had seen any reason to go to see Percy, and whenever I did, I most certainly did not pay attention to the appearance of his tent. The outside was white with whales and waves painted onto it. It looked beautiful and I wondered how Percy could have painted such elegant pictures all by himself. Amongst the waves, were pictures of his friends. There was Grover, a cyclops who I think is called Tyson, me and Annabeth. Well at least there HAD been me and Annabeth. All there was now was giant burnt marks with bits of long blond and black hair. That struck me kinda hard. I looked at my burnt face while the truth truly sunk in. I was out of Percy's family.
"Ready Thalia?" Artemis asked me. Shaking my head and mentally preparing myself I nodded.
"On three. One, two, three!" Together, we barged right into Percy's tent.
Percy POV
The first thing I'm going to do once once I recover is track down Morpheus the God of Dreams and throw him into the pit. On one side I have the hunters trying to physically destroy me, and now on the other I have these dreams destroying my physical and mental state. It's got to the point where I can't even tell whether or not they're dreams or not anymore. They feel so realistic and I swear I truly feel the pain whenever my dream self hallucination thingy gets hurt. Now let's forget about the future I may not see and focus on what's happening right now.
"Hello Percy," Artemis said while walking into my room. She was holding 2 sharp, serrated knives, each one at least as long as my entire forearm, if not more. Taking her time, she came towards me, a smile on her face as wide as the moon, but that didn't reassure me in ANY way. If anything, it just made me more scared. I tried to reply, but my voice was suddenly on mute. If only I could find the remote… actually, no time for that. I need a plan B. Artemis was already by my bed, her knives resting on my shoulders.
"You tarnished my legacy and my hunters. I'm the laughing stock of Olympus nowadays. There is one way to fix it though." At this, she came so close to me that I could smell the minty forest smells radiating from her.
"If I kill you," she whispered into my ears with pure menace while plunging her knives deep into my shoulders.
The pain was unbearable. I would have gladly held the sky for months rather than be used as Artemis's play toy. I screamed as loud as I could while the knife was twisted and pulled, no dragged out. Artemis seemed to know every single way to torcher men, and believe me when I say that it hurt.
"Rapist," she whispered, hurting me for I would never rape a girl.
"No Artemis, I didn't do it!" I screamed out, but nothing was changing her mind as she penetrated my arm's flesh with nothing other than her teeth. I mean come ON Artemis. I knew you were a sexists murdering goddess, but why would you turn into a cannibal!
Another twist of the knife, more blood pouring out of my cuts faster than rivers. My bed had turned into a lake of blood, and the pain was horrible. Hold up! How was there RED blood when moments earlier, despite still being mortal I was bleeding (or ichoring) ichor? Was this the invention of my mind, or was it real? I had no idea. The only thing running through my mind was how could anybody be so inhuman and put an innocent man through such pain. The saying is 'innocent until proven guilty' isn't it? WELL THEN WHY AM I BEING PUNISHED BEFORE BEING PROVED AS GUILTY! Man this world so needs a new court system. Oh she's coming with her knife at full force BRACE FOR IMPACT! Another fresh wave of pain to keep the memories fresh.
"Stop Artemis!" I yelled. Miraculously, she actually did stop mid swing. The look of anger slowly turned into pleasure.
"Okay then I'll stop," she said, still smiling. "I'll just kill you now!" She repositioned her knife at my throat. I guess this is it. I would like to dedicate my last living moments to my mother and stepfather, wait they don't even know I'm there son, my girlfriend, hold up she actually tried to kill me, my father, oh he's probably vibing out unaware of my critical situation, and my patron, wait she's the one actually killing me! Never mind. I guess I'll have no one to remember.
The knife moved to slice my throat, but just as it did, Artemis turned into… Artemis?
"Oh my Gods are you alright Percy!" she spoke, scared to the bones. I looked down and realised why.
Artemis POV
What was happening? Was I being framed. It had only been minutes ago when I was sleeping soundly with my own nightmares of the rape incident. Why was Perseus screaming my name out? The run here seemed fuzzy. I remember running. I remember the screams getting louder and I remember nearing a beautiful ocean tent far away from our camp. Why that happened I have no idea. Thalia came, and the next thing I knew, we had charged into the tent to find a very surprising and gruesome sight.
Laying in front on me was a Perseus Jackson with all his wounds reopened, laying in his bed, shivering despite it being 30 degrees outside.
"Oh my Gods are you alright Percy," I said on the verge of tears. Thalia wasn't holding up much better, having already puked once on the floor, and, to be honest, I couldn't really blame her.
What are we going to tell the others?
Hey guys. I'm sorry I haven't been able to upload for a while but now I'll try to start consistently uploading. Tell me how the story was :).
