Chapter 3

Percy's POV

It was 6 a.m. when I heard a knock on one of the white pillars in my room. I arose to find my father Poseidon leaning against his trident.

"Percy" he said in a calm voice.

"Yes father?" I asked.

He didn't say anything else but pointed to the balcony and gestured for me to follow. As I watched him sit on one of the reclining pool chairs, I was tempted to go back inside and lay next to Annabeth. But when I saw that he came to talk with me without anything else going on I thought,

'To heck with it I'll talk to him. What's the worst that can happen.'

I got up as softly as I could without waking Anna, put on my orange camp t-shirt, and went outside.

In the sunrise I got a better look at my father.

I was surprised when I saw that he wasn't in his usual Greek armor, this time he was in his Bermuda shorts and Hawaiian shirt.

"Sit with me Percy" Poseidon said.

As I sat down, I asked him, "so, what brought you up here dad?" I asked.

"First of all, do you think Annabeth will figure out that the dream she had last night wasn't actually a dream?"

"Most likely father she is a pretty smart girl."

"I hope she doesn't realize that it will happen one day."

"I know father, was there anything else you wanted to discuss with me?" I asked.

"As you know son, Athena and I have never gotten along, especially when you and Annabeth started dating. But the more we watched you two, the more we realized how selfish we were, which is hard to admit. So, we have agreed to spend a whole day with you two."

"Oh, dad you don't have to do that, I know you're busy with other things."

"Are you trying to tell me to not do something Percy?" My dad said with a bit of a growl in his voice.

"Of course, not dad I'm just asking if there is room in your busy schedule for this parent's day." I said with a sly voice.

"Son, the ocean isn't going anywhere, I'm just taking a small break. Besides it's been a while since we've done something."

"So, when is this parent's day dad" I said innocently.

"That's a surprise son" he said with a slick voice.

With that he stood up, gave me a hug which was weird because we don't hug that much, and disappeared in a cloud of blue green mist.

It was about 7:30 when I walked back to my room and I found Annabeth still asleep on the bed, so I watched her sleep for what felt like forever. But when she woke up, I looked at the clock and it said 8:30.

"Hi there Wise Girl" I said with a smirk on my face.

"Hi SeaWeed brain", I kissed her good morning and asked her,

"You ready to go swimming?"

"Already Percy?"

"Nothing like swimming in the morning Anna" I said.

So, I went and put on my navy-blue swim trunks and Anna put on her bikini, and we walked hand in hand to the beach. Before we got there, I put my hands over her eyes so she would see the surprise I had for her.

"What are you doing Percy?" she asked innocently.

"Just wait for it Anna" I whispered in her ear.

I uncovered her eyes just in time for her to see two dolphins jump out of the water and make a perfect heart.

"Percy it's amazing!" Anna said.

"Do you like it?" asked innocently.

"What do you think" she said as she threw herself onto me.

It was the perfect moment until something else came out of the water, something that I never thought I'd see so soon.
