Chapter 5
Percy POV
There we were, Annabeth and I in the back of a Camaro that was driven by my father Poseidon not to mention Athena was in the passenger seat. I am thankful to be next to Annabeth and not next to Athena or my father.
I reached over and took her hand and I made sure it was slow so our parents would not notice. "Are you nervous?" She asked. "I am just a little curious on what our parents will do" I replied.
As I sat waiting, Annabeth put her head on my shoulder and we sat in silence as my father drove to the water park. What was even crazier was that today was our 4th anniversary and I was going to take us somewhere special for just the two of us.
"Are you ready for today?" I asked.
"Well both our parents who have infinite power are with us and anything could happen, but I'm with you so I'm happy" she said.
"What are you two talking about back there?" Athena asked.
"Oh we're just talking about the plans we might be doing today" Annabeth said.
Right before Athena could say something my father proclaimed, "we're here!" He said that so loud I jumped out of my seat.
We arrived at the water park at 10:15 a.m, how we arrived so fast I have no idea. But there were quite a few cars in the parking lot so our parents made a new one just for us at the very front.
"Now isn't that better than walking!" Poseidon said.
Before I could say anything, Annabeth said, "of course it is Poseidon, because now we don't have to worry about people getting in your way.''
"Perhaps we might change into something human like" Poseidon said to Athena.
"Perhaps you are correct" Athena said.
Soon after they said that, we exited the car and started walking towards the water park. As we walked into the park, I reached over, grabbed Annabeth's hand, and pulled her towards the ticket booth.
"What rides would you like to go on?" I asked.
Before she responded, my father asked, "why are we at this stand?"
"So we can purchase tickets" Annabeth said.
"Oh we don't need to do that" Athena said.
"How come mother" Annabeth said.
"Just don't worry about it daughter."
As we walked around the park, I looked at my father Poseidon and he seemed to be transfixed on everything people were doing.
"See anything interesting father?" I asked politely.
"It just amazes me how people like water parks more than the actual oceans and lakes" he said with a sad expression on his face.
"It's just more convenient to go to a water park dad" I said.
"But the ocean is everywhere son" my father said.
"I know dad, but people don't like the oceans and lakes because there is pollution in it.
"Oh that's an easy fix son" he said.
"Wait, really?" I asked.
"I'll do it when we get back" he said.
After he said that we walked around for a few minutes to decide what to do for fun. As we came upon a stand for pictures, I looked at Athena and my father Poseidon to see if they wanted to join Annabeth and me.
"Will you join us dad?" I asked.
"Ok but just one" he said.
So, we went and took a picture, but when it came back to us, Annabeth and I were happy, but our parents looked miserable because they were next to each other.
We quickly got out of the booth and went to the changing room so we could put on our swimsuits. It was easy for my father he just changed his pants and shirt into swim trunks and a Hawaiian tank top.
I wore my typical blue shorts with green flip flops, my father however wore green shorts with white flowers on them.
"What would you like to do first Percy?" Poseidon asked.
"I don't really know; I want to go on the waterslide, but the line is really long."
As soon as I finished that sentence my father snapped his fingers and they all vanished without a sound.
"What did you do to them dad?" I asked.
"I sent them to another waterslide so we could have this one to ourselves" Poseidon said.
"About time you used your powers constructive" Athena said.
As we walked towards the water slide, I could not believe how many people my dad had moved.
We went and grabbed our rafts for the ride, and I was of course riding with Annabeth and my father refused to go with Athena, so he went on a separate slide.
There was a lifeguard at the top, but my father put him to sleep so we could go without any interruptions.
"Are you ready Annabeth" I asked.
"What do you think SeaWeed brain" she said.
After she said that we went down a slide which was an enclosed slide and it seemed to last forever but at last it ended with a huge splash which of course our parents did not like.
After we got out, I pulled Athena aside and started talking to her.
"Athena, I have something I need to ask you" I said.
"What is it Percy" she asked.
"As you know I love your daughter and would do anything in the world for her and since her dad isn't here, I wanted to ask you."
"Hold that thought Percy" she said.
Suddenly there was a portal and Annabeth's dad walked out.
"Hello Percy, how have you been" he asked.
"I'm good, I actually need to ask you both something" I said.
'What is it" he asked.
"I would like your permission to marry your daughter" I asked.
"Let me think for a minute" he said.
After he said this, he looked at Athena and it looked like they were having a private conversation about what I had said. After a minute, both of them turned and looked at me.
"After some thought and much talk, we have come to a conclusion" he said.
I had never been so nervous as I looked at these two that had Annabeth's and I's future in their hands.
"I hereby give you my blessing to marry Annabeth" he said.
After I had thanked him for his blessing, Athena made another portal for him to return home.
"Don't make me regret my decision" she said with a scowl. "You know what i would do to you if you ever mae her cry or hurt her in any way."
With that the sun started to go down so we returned to the changing room.
"What did her father say" my dad asked.
"He gave me his blessing to marry Annabeth."
"Son this is fantastic news" he said.
As we had finished getting dressed, we met up with Athena and Annabeth and walked towards the car with me holding Annabeth's hand.
"When are you going to ask her son" my father asked through a telepathic conversation.
"I'm thinking about the day after tomorrow."
"Do you need a ring son" he asked.
"I would love to have a ring dad" I said.
"Well, there is one in your pocket just don't look at it until she's asleep because it's still perfecting itself."
"Thank you so much for today it meant a lot to both of us."
"You're welcome son" he said with a smile.
As we drove to see the movie Aqua-Man, Athena looked over at Annabeth and saw how tired she was and asked. "Annabeth do you want to see this movie or go back to camp."
"I am tired mother, but I want to see this movie because I know you and Poseidon would enjoy it."
Before Athena could answer, my father spoke up. "I find it hard to believe that a common Demi-God would gain access to control the whole ocean. Why would I ever give someone that kind of power to rival mine."
"I think it just means that even Demo-Gods can gain access to the powers that a god can grant them" I said to my father.
"That may be true but even you, my own son, doesn't have control over the whole ocean yet" he said.
As we drove home, I looked at Anna and she saw my gaze and smiled at me. Making sure our parents were not looking, I kissed her and almost instantly we were back at camp.
As we walked back to our cabin, I looked to see if our parents were there, but they vanished just as quick as any other time.
"Make sure the moment is perfect son" I heard my dad say in my head.
"It will be because you'll be there to help me" I said.
We arrived at our cabin and took a quick shower before changing into our pjs.
"Did you have fun WiseGirl" I asked.
"What do you think" she said as she threw herself onto me for a kiss.
I carried us back to our bed and made sure she was nice and comfortable while I went to my little fountain and thanked Athena and my father for the day.
Making sure she was asleep I took out the ring my father had given me. It was a beautiful blue ring with at least 12 diamonds on it.
Three on the top and the rest on the band itself. Etched on the inside was Annabeth's name in silver letters.
As I put the ring in a safe spot, I went over to the fountain that my father had given me and said a silent prayer thanking him of everything he has done for me especially what has happened recently, I went to the bed, pulled open the sheets, and laid myself next to Anna with my arm around her. I fell asleep with Annabeth on my chest and the thought of the best day in my mind.
