Artemis POV
I didn't really want a masquerade. Every party we had in Olympus, almost always had a dance too. Sometimes it was fancy, while other times it was dull, but it happened each time. And, each time, I would end up standing on the sidelines, not dancing with anyone. All the males were now scared of me, so they left me in peace, and I would watch everyone laughing and enjoying themselves as they danced. I don't think I've danced since the end of the first titan war actually, and even then it was only with my brother before he had turned into an annoying fiery boy, so that's not what I wanted. Now, what I was hoping for was an extremely well devised battle plan led by Alpha himself against Gone, metaphorically referred to as a masquerade, which would be better than some stupid dance.
There wasn't going to be any talking this time, especially from Gone. Determination covered his face as he carefully studied Alpha, the two utter destroyers circling each other, with a fierce look in their eyes. Gone's night-black sword was pointing downwards and scratching the pavement, while the Masquerader held a gleaming golden stick resting on his shoulder, and one with a sinister look to it as well. Both were so similar, and yet they were so different. Alpha had a look of regality, with his long, golden robes and tidy outfit, whereas Gone was much more dark and grave, his clothes plated with armour. Still, they both had the same drive and the same… thirst for blood and vengeance. You could see it in the way they looked daggers at each other.
"November!" Alpha yelled completely out of nowhere, his hands tensed around his stick now in the attacking position, never looking away from his apparent enemy. From the blooded streets, November jumped up, as if he was scared or nervous. He was scratching his thumb awkwardly, out of place.
"I appreciate your thought of coming here ahead of us and providing a pretty decent distraction... but you did save some butts for us, right?" Alpha demanded. Letting out a pent up sigh, November smirked now realizing that he wasn't in trouble, and stopped fidgeting. Grabbing his sword, the deathly pale kid sauntered towards Alpha, being patted on the back by other members of The Revenant as he did so. Reaching his leader, November reported, "About 20,000 chonks left boss, you choose your pick." Breaking the uneasy eye contact with Gone, Alpha finally faces November, intently surveying the kid with his mixed eyes, before breaking into a wide grin and slapping November's back.
"Omigods!" Alpha giddily yelled out. "It's like an all you can eat buffet where you don't eat and it's not a buffet!" Internally I facepalmed at his lame attempt at a joke, but didn't say anything. For some reason, I felt like Alpha deserved this happiness. There was this aura of pain and hurt that hung around him.
Naturally, the git inside of Gone couldn't say shut for long enough, and he felt obligated to add a comment.
"...Except for the part where you're not allowed to expose yourself…" Gone muttered, and the happiness just obtained began fading away. Alpha hung his head low, before snapping back up, irritated, pacing quickly up and down. He fixed his slightly off-put robe, and then sneered.
"Like you haven't said that more times than the oh so mean men Artemis castrated," he mocked. Wisely, I kept shut.
"I would love to control it, and send you running back to your boss with five arrows shoved so far up your ass that whoever could take it out would be the new King Arthur. I would love it, but my abilities shall not be revealed till the bloodless dawn." Gone wasn't the only one frowning. Looking confused, the male looked down.
"I'm sorry but what did you just say?" Alpha kissed his teeth in annoyance.
"Sorry, but no one's gonna figure out my identity yet," he snapped. "I'm not using abilities, because I need to make sure that my soldiers are in good enough shape to whip your pathetic excuse for an army up." Never will I get bored of watching the grin on Gone's face fade as he realised how much he'd screwed up, just like last time.
Shuffling came from inside the lift, as he yelled, "Romeo, Juliet, Can, Fox, Lima and anyone else I've missed, GO GO GO!"
We were no more than a few minutes away from a full force war in the middle of the streets of Olympus. There wasn't another way to put it. Two warriors with more power than nuclear bombs faced each other, their weapons high and facing each other, with the whole of Olympus watching in fear of which one would destroy the other.
"You ready?" Gone asked his sword brandished high into the mourning air. Alpha mirrored his stance, with his staff slightly lower. He began to nod, before stopping himself.
"Hmmmmm no actually wait a second," Alpha replied, lowering his weapon and looking up, concentrating on something really hard. He paced up and down the streets, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, almost forgetting about the danger ten feet in front of him. Gone however was curious as to what exactly Alpha was doing, walking up and down thoughtfully. Being kept curious for too long, he finally asked what was on all our minds.
"Erm what the hell are you doing?" Gone asked dumbfounded, looking at Alpha with an extremely concerned look. Alpha shrugged, picking up his stick and twirling it mindlessly.
"I was trying to think of something memorable and cringy to say before the future changing battle, but nothing comes to mind. I guess I'm ready then."
With the sound of a thousand legions charging into war, Gone's monsters let out a ferocious roar, torpedoing towards Alpha's army of nine. Usually, nine doesn't count for an army, but then again, usually one individual doesn't usually count for half the council, on his bad day. The two opposing sides rushed to each other, while us powerless Gods were forced to watch, knowing there was no way we could help. The armies grew closer, and closer, until claws were an arm's reach out of swords. It was at that moment, where the brawl exploded. Monsters leapt onto The Revenant, pinning them down, but they fought back twice as hard. Before anyone knew it, the battle had turned into teeth and claws against swords and knives. Then, there was the center of attention himself, Alpha. The man had his staff in his hand, eyes closed, and his free hand extended into the air, as if he was trying to grasp something, but couldn't quite reach it. The unharmed monsters, with more than enough firepower to mow down the entire council charging towards him, but he didn't care. Alpha was occupied with… something. Monsters were within a few feet of him now, and no one ran to his aid. Lima actually stood behind Alpha, smirking at the crowd of emotionless monsters and shaking his head slowly, as if trying to say, 'You monster's don't know what you are about to witness'. However, he didn't defend Alpha, as monsters advanced closer to him. The monsters were almost at him now, their snapping mouths a blur. Then… as if he had been waiting for them to come close, as the first monster reached him, Alpha let out a massive yell, silencing the monsters and pounding his fist on the stoned pavement. I think my world just got a whole lot crazier.
The impact dented a hole roughly as big as a basketball in the Olympian concrete, faster than my eyes could comprehend. It was so fast and so powerful, that an intense tremor rupted from the hole, throwing both armies into the air. Even from a hundred or so meters back, the force threw my hair back. That was only the beginning. What happened next was so weird, it redefined the dictionary definition of weird, and the dictionary definition of weird was already pretty weird. From my place, the whole world froze. Monsters remained still in midair, with expressions of horror as the very reality of the work began to break. Even us Gods were immobilised on the floor with a first class view of the surprised monsters 'guarding' us. As if that wasn't enough, next, the light began to stop working. My eyes were hurting, as the throne room flashed black, orange, white and so many other colours, blinding me. Sound wasn't working, light wasn't working, reality wasn't working and my mind wasn't working. I felt like screaming, but I couldn't. It was all literally driving me insane. But before I really lose my mind, everything resumed like normal. Monsters proceeded to fall to the floor with loud thuds. I could finally see again, and I saw some things…
Assuming my eyes were being honest, what had once been a couple of thousand marauders had shrunk by over half. Half. Ashes coated the streets of Olympus in a pale, deathly grey, nearly half a foot deep. Enemies were staring at their fellow enemies, slowly melting into nothing. Amongst the damage a small sigh came from Alpha who was on the ground, leaning against Lima. His breath was ragged and heavy, but I could see the glint in eyes, the same one he had before fighting Gone the first time.
"Worked better than I thought it would," he murmured and Lima laughed.
"You think?" Lima walked over, extended a hand and helped him up, both panting.
The entire council plus Gone plus Gone's emotionless army were shell-shocked. Every single Olympian was rooted in fear and admiration of what this one… being had done. The whole council had fought, and the whole council had lost... badly. It didn't make sense that this one joker could half the supply of soldiers. This person was too powerful. I was shocked. Hell, everyone was. I'd maybe killed a couple of thousand, using a lot of energy. Alpha and raised his hands, and then more than double the enemies I killed ceased to exist. I just didn't understand who short of a primordial had the raw power to banish tens of thousands of monsters into nothingness with a small flick of the wrist. No God had done it… but he had. I'm not complaining, but I certainly don't wanna mess with this guy.
"Don't keep your mouth open like that dude," Alpha grinned at Gone. "You'll catch flies." Fixating him with a glare colder than the moon, he scowled, closing his mouth. Brushing off dust, and quickly lunging to grab his sword, he stood up, raising it and pointing it at Alpha. Unfortunately for him, Alpha was in a good mood, poignantly pushing the tip of Gone's sword away from his neck.
"I'll break your freaking mouth," Gone hissed, bringing his sword into an attacking position.
"I'm more than certain you'll try," Alpha smirked, "but it'll be difficult for a three headed cow like yourself."
"What, did you just call me," Gone spat. His enemy shook his head mockingly.
"Deaf boy, he called you a three headed cow, and he isn't wrong about that one," Romeo yelled, her hands cupped around her mouth.
A heated argument began to form, slowly escalating as insults turned into curses. While Alpha was remaining calm, Gone was letting anger get to him, and you could see instability in him, with the way he was roaring at Alpha, ill-tempered. It was getting the worst of him. As the bickering began to boil, it was obvious that weapons were coming soon. Gone was clenching his sword, and even Alpha had both hands on his staff, no longer absentmindedly twirling it.
Sometime during the argument, after Gone's face had turned beetroot red, one of the girls from The Revenant jogged up towards us. Immediately, I recognized her. No other member of The Revenant had long caramel hair, or the sweet scent of cinnamon. Every God looked up at her, embarrassed that they could only watch her and not do anything while their hands were chained up.
"Hi," she began softly, gently swaying from side to side. "Alpha told me to take off your cuffs that bind you to the mortal world," she said shyly, brushing her caramel hair to one side. Back in the forest, when she had been healing Charlotte, she'd only snapped and glared at me, almost like she hated me, but now, it was as if she had a different side to her.
Without waiting for a response from any of us, she quickly went behind us, her fingers fumbling with the lock. Perhaps she had a key, perhaps she didn't, but it didn't matter. One by one, our cuffs were unlocked. Subconsciously, I rubbed my wrists, standing up and stretching, glad to have my control over the moon back. I could feel my raw power slowly returning, a smile flickering across my face. My joy faded away when the yells of an argument grew louder. Looking up, I could see Gone's nose up in Alpha's face, screaming something at him, spilt flaking from his mouth. I was definitely surprised that the two hadn't begun to physically fight yet, but didn't question it, supposing there was some form of a plan behind Alpha's recklessness. From my place, I was watching the argument unfold, but the other Gods had other ideas. They had all rearmed themselves, and were silently making their way towards Gone. The murderer didn't realize, but Alpha did, and what's worse is that he didn't appreciate the thought. My brain didn't even register how fast he stood up and aimed his staff towards the quickly frightened Gods.
The sound of Alpha's gentle breaths could be heard as he softly smiled and said, "He is mine!". No one argued. Instead, they all scuttled back towards me near the sidelines. Once again, we would have to watch the battle, knowing there is nothing that we can do to help. Gone on the other hand looked a bit relieved that he wasn't about to be fighting the whole council plus Alpha.
"Ooooh look, you're trying to act all big now, thinking you can take me on by yourself," Gone grinned. "You will fail!" he gleed. "And d'you wanna know why? Because in the end, you never ever have managed to save the people you care about."
That was it. I guess that's what it takes for the drive to go out of someone. In front of me, the robed warrior stared at the ground, his expression hidden.
"See!" Gone yelled triumphantly. "You hide yourself, but never forget that you are the true murderer, and there is-" Abruptly, Gone stopped his monologuing, diving down to the ground.
I must admit that Gone's reflexes were on point. Had he hesitated for even a fraction of a second, no doubt he'd be cooked by now. There had been a faint hiss as a massive blaze of flames were hurled at Gone's head. He hadn't even looked, just threw himself onto the floor to miss the fire. Every head turned backwards to see who had fired the shot. It hadn't been Alpha. I looked over to Apollo who only gave me a small shake of the head.
Hestia walked forwards, ignoring the gaping mouths of Gods, flames flickering in her hands. This made no sense to me. Hestia, the most peaceful Goddess was suddenly retaliating when someone had mocked a warrior who she didn't even know, and a warrior who had told her it was his fight.
"You dare say anything like that to this warrior over here, and I swear by whatever river is left that even if I have to fade, I will hunt you down across the entire Earth until I have killed you and your essence is rotting in the pits of Tartarus." Every soul went silent. Never has Hestia ever made a threat so violent and so seriously. There was no light in her eyes as Gone quickly stood up scowling, but this time looking much more uncomfortable than before. Alpha, now rejuvenated, glared at Gone with a look only seen once before. The same look God of time Perseus Jackson had as he helplessly fought Atlas all those years ago.
Armed with his stick, the robed warrior made his stand.
"Go and 69 yourself," he spat at his enemy. Confusion filled the room as everyone wondered what he meant. Aphrodite on the other hand was giggling uncontrollably, as if 69 was something funny. I'm not sure what it meant, but if Aphrodite was laughing, dread filled me. Gone however was staring at Alpha, not understanding the insult. That was all the hesitation Alpha needed, lunging into battle like a lunatic with only one goal. To kill Gone.
The staff flew to Alpha's left hand, as he swiped it into Gone's leg, who easily stepped over it. Gone then plunged his sword down, narrowly missing the male who had somersaulted under. Alpha quickly round-kicked Gone's face, rabbit punching him twice in the ribs before jabbing his staff at Gone's foot. Sidestepping, Gone dodged the punches, but had to stumble backwards or else get a punctured foot. He then thrust his sword forwards, receiving a parry from Alpha. Gone ducked to avoid Alpha's next jab, swinging his sword at Alpha's shin. Sensing something wrong, the robed warrior jumped up instinctively, accidentally kicking Gone in the face. He growled, and elbowed Alpha in his stomach, causing him to double back. However, he did manage to raise up to avoid Gone's knee, flicking his stick at Gone's head and it was back to parrying. Alpha swung his staff horizontally, but Gone deflected it. Gone then plunged his sword down at Alpha's stomach, only for it to be blocked. The robed warrior, sensing he was in a grave position, ducked under Alpha's elbow, kicking his back and slapping the wind out of his knee with that stick of his.
Stumbling backwards to avoid any further hits, the demon quickly fumbled in his pockets for a serrated knife, which he threw at Alpha. Almost casually, Alpha gently leaned backwards, the knife missed him, and took out his own knife, throwing it like a blur into Gone's chest. Everyone expected him to hit. Dodging something at that speed would be almost impossible. Unfortunately for us pro-Alpha's, Gone knew how to out possible the most impossible. Not only did he dodge the knife, but better yet (or worse) he caught it by the hilt, grinning insanely, and throwing it back at the male. His swing wasn't powerful, but it caught the male by surprise. This time, Alpha was forced to dive to the ground, as the blade passed above harmlessly. The male on the floor however was far from safe. Taking his opportunity, Gone slashed at the male with his sword. Alpha did successfully parry, but it was more than close. The blade had made a shallow cut in Alpha's calf, to which he subtly groaned at. All around, The Revenant were obliterating monster after monster, but I was rooted in fear, forced to watch Gone and Alpha battle bloodily, the sweet scent of death in the air.
Obviously aware that he was at a disadvantage, Alpha was trying to get up, but from his position, it was more than a mission, and Gone wasn't making it any easier for him. The murderer had the high ground here, and he wasn't going to give it up willingly. Gone was rapidly delivering blows and thrusts, faster than I could count. He wasn't even blocking, just ruthlessly thrusting his sword at Alpha's poor body. You could only maneuver and deflect so much from the ground, and Gone achieved more than a few hits. Alpha was on the ground, rolling around to avoid any further damage. I could even hear the hollow sound of stick and sword hitting pavement. It was so quiet in the halls. Prying my eyes away from the battle, I glanced around the room, realizing that The Revenant had succeeded in reducing Gone's armies to shreds. It was just this final fight. I knew that the chances of Gone surviving against the whole council, plus Alpha's warriors, were pretty low, but I still wanted Alpha to run for some reason. Quickly, Alpha rolled across the room, faster than I thought one could roll, with an irritated Gone trailing shortly behind. He then threw, yes threw his staff at Gone, with a velocity too fast to comprehend. All I could tell was that Gone had been too proud and ahead of himself to think about even the smallest possibility of Alpha attacking. Arrogance was something no one wanted, and Gone sure didn't want it when he failed to block Alpha's final strike. His sword along with Alpha's stick went skidding across the road, as Gone clutched his already crimson chest, breaths ragged. Then, Alpha was onto him.
The golden robed warrior had propelled himself from the floor, crashing into Gone, headfirst. They both went tumbling to the floor, acting like animals. Fists were being hurled, arms were being bitten, hair was pulled and still, no one gave up. They were rolling along the floor, yanking at each other like maniacs. Wanting to do something, I took my hunting knife out, now a black-ash blade, and began making my way towards them. November stopped me. He didn't yank me back, or scream in my ear no. He just firmly put his hand on my shoulder, whispering, "If Alpha said don't get involved, then if I were you, I wouldn't get involved." Shrugging and attempting to conceal my annoyance, I walked back to the still awestruck Olympians, deciding to observe this fight.
Alpha was now on top of Gone, and the two were grappling, although I could see Alpha's strength giving him more of an advantage The tab;es were turning, ever so slightly, as Alpha slowly pinned Gone's arms to the floor. I could almost feel his desperations as his hands were bound to the stone floor. Then, out of breath but not yet finished, Alpha balled his fist, and bright them at an alarming speed into Gone's face. Alpha began brutally smashing him in the face, punch after punch. Something snapped, but Alpha didn't give one. He was angry, and Gone was going to get it.
"For my life," he hissed, bringing his fist like a mallet into Gone's nose.
"For my love," he hissed, thumping the side of Gone's ear.
"For everything you've done to me," he murmured, bringing his hand down like a rocket into Gone's nose. The force caused him to howl as blood spurted out like a hose. I'm sure Alpha wasn't ready to stop, but the healer called Can came up and gently pulled his shaking hands into hers. She looked into his eyes, and gave him a look of worry, which Alpha cast aside, rolling his eyes. Taking a deep breath, Alpha stood up, kicking Gone's ear in the process, looking worse for wear than before. His golden robes were stained with blotches of red, and torn at the back, but he was alive and (mostly) unharmed.
Shakily, Gone wobbled up, obviously embarrassed and frustrated that he had gotten beaten by Alpha for the second time in one day. His face looked like a splat tomato, and his face had an expression of pain on it.
"I swear, that one day, I will kill you," Gone whispered as Alpha lifted his staff up to strike Gone. Turning around, he briefly faced the council. "If you want this… lunatic to lead you into battles, then be my guest, but he is not what you think he is." While there were theories, nobody knew exactly who Alpha was. Still, nobody was ready to listen to Gone, especially after today's battles. With a yell, Alpha threw his stick at Gone, but the murderer wasn't waiting for it. Silently, Gone's body melted into the air as Alpha's stick passed harmlessly through what was once his body.
Alpha cursed in a mixture of Latin, Greek , English and, for some reason Spanish. For a second, I was almost sure he was gonna begin destroying the very air where Gone had been. It came off as a relief when Can hugged him, and in that hug I could almost see his worry slowly melting away. The rest of The Revenant were more than ecstatic. They were leaping up into each other's arms and whooping at the top of their voices.
"You guys missed out on the pre Alpha action!" November yelled while getting thumped on the back by Juliet.
"Yeah well at least we followed his orders," Juliet replied, and November began mumbling about a distraction. Juliet laughed.
"Well it was certainly a distraction, and it certainly saved Olympus!" The two of them grinned, before running off to brag about their skills to someone else.
"Boys," Alpha began when November and Juliet ran over to Romeo. "Keep the party for later. For the time being, we're still in the Masquerade." They nodded, obviously annoyed, and went to stand next to Alpha. The robed warrior had mysteriously cleansed his hands, but for some reason had left his robe dirty. He was facing the council with his hands on his hips. Everything about the way he stood, the way he talked and the way he fought just screamed authority at me.
"What are you all doing, please, please sit down," he quickly said, motioning to the throne room. We all stared at him. Zeus had a kind of glowering anger in his eyes, shocked that someone who wasn't part of the council was ordering, yes ordering a council meeting. I was certain he was about to object, and Alpha could sense that too. Without saying another word, the soldier shrugged, before thrusting his stick into Zeus' face, stopping it a few centimeters short of his nose using some magic I had never heard of. Alpha gave Zeus a look that clearly said, you really don't wanna do this. Both of them regarded each other, trying to size the other up. It was Alpha's smile that made me realize how he was simply playing along. Whatever Zeus thought he could do, I was sure Alpha could do much better. Father too seemed to realize this, lowering his gaze, Alpha triumphantly grinning.
"Let's go," he smiled sweetly, walking towards the throne room, his head held high, The Revenant tailing behind.
"Are you gonna tell us who you are now," Poseidon asked with irritance, his eyes flashing a warning that told me immediately his patience was on the verge of crumbling. All the Gods had silently sat down at their thrones, everyone preoccupied with their own thoughts. That didn't mean they were all irritated, impatient and angry. The robed warrior only smiled, like he knew something amusing that no one else did.
"Patience my fa-fellow friend," Alpha hesitantly spoke, his grin fading a little. "Respect calls for respect, and even I must show respect." Riddles had never been my cup of tea, but I don't think Alpha cared much. Instead, he decided to, quite literally, respect everyone. Starting at the girls side, Alpha went to each God, bowing at them for ten seconds. I couldn't help but mentally laugh. In the throne room, there was a being powerful enough to destroy at least half of us, and yet, he was bowing to us. He started with Hestia, to whom he bowed low, not making eye not making eye contact with, before moving on to the rest of the Gods. When he got to me, he didn't bow. Instead, he looked me in the eye, shaking his head subtly in disappointment. I could see sadness and hurt in the eyes of the warrior as he moved on to the next God. Hera was the last woman. The warrior bowed towards her, before beginning the men's side. At Zeus, Alpha bowed so low I swear his back was about to snap.
"Is this low enough Mr Zeus? Or do I need to bend into the underworld?" It took everything to stop myself from laughing out loud. We all knew he was mocking Father, but there was little anyone could say, as Alpha was still bowing, and he was still the most powerful. The warrior bowed at Poseidon and the other males. He stopped briefly at the golden throne. Staring, where the once savior of Olympus had sat and joked. But before I knew it, he was onto the next Good, Apollo. When he reached Apollo, the warrior bowed, before standing up and looking Apollo in the eye. There was a moment of tension, before my brother let out a laugh, stood up and wrapped Alpha in a bear hug, the two grinning.
"I swear I was about to hunt for you!" he yelled. "Long time no see Alpha!" I guess my brother had been hiding something other than his bar visits from me. Boy, are we gonna have a good talk later.
After finishing bowing to Hades, he walked into the center of the throne room, and interrogation began.
"No doubt are we thankful for your aid, Alpha," my father started, sitting up straight in his chair, "but we would like to know who you and your soldiers are." Alpha nodded.
"Well Mr Zeus- wait can I call you Mr Zeus? I feel like Countess Zeus sounds better, but Mr Zeus has the ring to it, ya know, like-"
"I think Lord Zeus will work," he said loudly and firmly.
"Okay, well Mr Zeus, me and my warriors over here are part of a gang called 'The Revenant.' We're pretty famous actually! Got starred on BBC news once for rescuing a girl from a toilet in Los Angeles. You should check it out ya know like it was really-"
"Um Alpha…" November interrupted as the council's temper wore thinner than ice.
"Ah yes sorry. Basically Mr Zeus, we're The Revenant, a group of soldiers who fight for whoever we feel like."
"Yes but who are you? Better yet, what are you?"
"Oh I'm just a regular demigod who got all A's in sword fighting," he shrugged.
"So how did you know about an attack no one else knew about?" Zeus asked, and Alpha went quiet, as he thought about his answer.
"Why, we have the best cryptographic in the word," he said triumphantly, pointing at Lima, the boy with the orange glittered mask.
"So your cryptographic had access to codes no one else has ever found?" Alpha shrugged.
"I mean being an excellent soldier, and having a smart, cooperative team can give you essentially anything."
I was fed up with both my father and Alpha. Especially Alpha. His games were driving me sick, and no one else seemed able to play against them.
"Look I am sick of you and your pathetic games. You came to fight with my hunt, and then try acting all cocky as if you own this place."
"Who says I don't?" he smirked, but that just enraged me even more.
"See!" I yelled at the rest of the Gods, pointing at the robed warrior. "You're not some funny guy! Tell me right now why you decided to save my hunters, with the chance of dying and the chance of us hunters killing now, or I swear I will kill you and your soldiers."
"Sis," Apollo began, but Alpha interjected.
"You could say I made an oath to protect someone," he said, and I laughed mirthlessly.
"An oath," I spat, disgusted that he couldn't even think of a better excuse. "THERE IS NO RIVER STYX, FOR YOU'RE SACRED OATHS, AND WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU EVEN MAKE AN OATH TO HELP THE HUNT!" I screamed, certain I was close to losing my mind. Alpha raised an eyebrow.
"I never swore on the River Styx. Besides, if you are unhappy with what my warriors have done, I'm sure we can go back in time and erase it," he offered.
"I'm not sure if you know, BUT YOU'RE NOT THE GOD OF TIME!" The God of Time...
I take back everything I've said to this… man today. It all just suddenly clicked. The golden robes… the freezing of objects… the stopping of light… the cockiness and jokes… the A's in fighting, and finally, his offer to erase time. The signs were all there. It was in plain sight. It was so obvious. Anyone would've told me that this warrior… this God was…
"Aha!" He yelled, after intently staring at me. "My Lords and female Lords, fair Artemis here has cracked it, haven't you?" he asked. I nodded numbly.
"But, my Lord, how-how did you-I thought-it was-but you" I was stuttering on the spot. For years, I've theorized about what I would do when I met him. Would I apologize, would I scream, would I beg for mercy, or would I confess my feelings? But now, in the heat of the moment, I didn't know what to do.
"Artemis, who is this," Father commanded me to tell, but I was speechless. My mouth wasn't working anymore.
With agonizing slowness, the God raised his hands to his mask, untying it and gently revealing his face.
I know it's been a while, but how was it? I hope my quality hasn't dropped! Please like and review :)
