A hush falls over the crowd as two men walk out. Sam struts with a grin and he has a laugh in his eyes as he walks. Jake is calm and eyes his opponent with a cool gaze. Both boys stand in the middle of the arena and the proctor announces the fight before the boys speak.
"Usual wager?" Sam asks with a grin.
"Yes. usual battle?" Jake replies.
Sam nods and the two hold out their fists. They pump the limbs before making shapes. Sam has a fist as Jake has two fingers extended. Sam laughs and Jake sighs. Jake prefers scissors while Sam leads with rock. Jake groans and announces his forfeit before temari walks out as William emerges.
The crowd is confused and temari holds her fan with a curious look. The fight is announced and the crowd goes silent.
"So. What was that about? Why did your teammates play a game before one of them quit?" temari asks william.
"It is our way of settling arguments. Instead of fighting or arguing we play rock paper scissors. That way disputes are settled quickly." William explains.
"Wait. instead of arguing, you guys play a children's game?" temari is dumbfounded.
"Yes. It is very effective." William reaches into his coat for a weapon before temari throws him a scroll.
"Dad said to give that to you. He said that when you asked a puppeteer how to make better puppets, you unintentionally breathed new life into our economy." temari explains.
William nods and pulls out his scythe after stashing the scroll in his coat. The two tense and begin the fight.
Temari swings her fan and a gust of wind blasts William into the wall. The dust clears to show a mass of insects swarming towards the blonde girl. Temari curses before swinging her fan again. The mass of insects vanish underground and all is silent for a few moments. A cracking sound echoes in the arena before temari turns to spot william emerging from the ground behind her with his scythe mid swing. A clang resounds in the arena as temari uses the metal casing on her fan to block the attack. The fan is left closed and swung at william before he sinks back into the ground. Insects seeth from the ground and crawl up temari's legs as they glow blue.
Temari curses and wind blasts from her legs to throw off the bugs before she snaps open her fan and jumps on it as wind pushes her up. William emerges from the earth and thrusts out a hand. Yellow and black flood from his sleeve and the buzzing mass rushes at temari. The woman groans and hops off her fan a split second before the seething mass hits her fan. The large item is wrapped in bugs and brought to William before he opens the fan.
"Interesting. Seals that augment elemental chakra and the large size moves more wind than a smaller one. Taking a simple novice of wind to the level of a master through brute force. If that's the case then I should be able to do this." William remarks before his arm glows softly.
A swing of the fan sends temari into the wall and she doesn't have a chance to move due to william swinging the fan again, and again, and again. Each blast hits temari like a warhammer and she is soon knocked unconscious. The proctor emerges and announces William as the winner as he sets down the fan and pulls out a brush. He dips his brush in a pot of ink that follows the writing implement and scrawls a few symbols on the fan before he pauses and scrawls a few more symbols.
Temari is taken from the arena as a robed figure emerges in a swirl of sand. The kazekage looks down at the kneeling boy who is still drawing on the fan. The tall boy finishes his art and stands.
"What did you do to my daughter's fan?" the kazekage asks as he walks forward to collect the item.
"Added a few seals. The fan is quite good for its simple construction but a few more seals will vastly improve it. First a seal that will return the fan to her after she adds blood. Thus allowing her to call it back to her if she is disarmed. Second is a seal that alters the gravity of the fan to make it lighter so she can swing faster. Finally is a seal that will repair the fan if chakra is channeled to it. The paper the fan is made of is fragile after all. A repair seal will reduce the costs of maintaining the fan and make it so she can repair it in battle. I also added a small storage seal. In case she decides to seal weapons or supplies into the fan. Only five pounds will fit in the seal but it will help nonetheless." William explains as he hands the fan to the desert leader.
The kazekage nods and thanks William before he vanishes in a swirl of sand while William walks out of the arena. A pair of figures enter the arena and the fight is announced. Kankuro of the sand versus shino aburame. They begin fighting as William walks to the competitor's seats. He stops when he sees the kazekage standing near the seats.
"I wanted to thank you william. You unintentionally breathed new life into my village and kept us from economic collapse. If there is anything you need, anything at all, merely ask and the sand will provide." rasa tells the heavily covered boy.
"A female mausoleum scorpion." william states.
"Anything but that." rasa responds quickly.
"Manson is lonely. A female would provide companionship and allow him to have a family." William's statement is followed by Manson emerging from his coat to hiss and chitter at the leader of sand.
"The females are very picky about their mates. I do not wish to see you hurt little one." rasa explains to the scorpion as he kneels to its level.
More clicking is heard from Manson and an argument is swiftly started as Manson argues for a woman while rasa tries to explain that the chances of acceptance are low. Sam sidles over to his friend.
"Dude. is the kazekage cock blocking manson?" Sam whispers to his friend.
William nods and Sam snickers as the argument turns into a brawl. The kazekage is soon rolling around in a grapple with Manson as the large arachnid tries to sting the man. This is blocked and replied to by punches. The brawl is accompanied by the sound of curse words from the man and angry chitters from manson.
The fight is interrupted by the arrival of kankuro and shino. Shino looks a little scratched up while kankuro is limping and his puppets are gone.
"Dad? Why are you fighting a bug?" kankuro asks. His head tilted in disbelief of the sight before him.
"Manson wants a female but they are very picky. There is a high chance of him being rejected or killed depending on the female." Rasa explains before he yelps and tries to punch Manson who has just stung him in the foot.
"Couldn't he just head to the caves and do a speed dating thing? Like meeting a female and talking before moving on if she says no?" kankuro asks.
Both man and scorpion freeze before they are both in the corner sulking as they realize they didn't think about that. Kankuro laughs awkwardly at this sight and he looks for help.
"I believe it is a good idea. I can travel with you after the chunin exams and we can allow manson to meet the females." William speaks up.
Rasa and Manson agree to this and the kazekage soon returns to the kage seats to watch the rest of the exams. Sam is called out to fight and he faces off against william. The proctor announces the fight before leaping away.
"Hey. I know we don't usually fight but would it be cool if we did?" Sam asks.
"Why? The normal contest works fine." William replies. Hand in his coat.
"Well. yeah. I agree with you but I also kinda wanna fight. Ya know. An all out brawl. We don't get a chance to go all out in our spars and I wanna see how I do against you. Like a test! I wanna test myself and push my limits." Sam explains.
William nods and Sam smiles as they both draw their weapons. A blur of speed is all that's seen before William is in front of Sam with his scythe slamming into the curved prongs of Sam's spade. Sam grins and pulls back his weapon before roaring and slamming the flat part into william. The blow sends the man flying and William tosses his scythe in the air before he goes through hand seals. William lands and slaps his palms to the ground before jagged spikes of earth start rising in a wave towards sam. The orange haired boy laughs and charges with his weapon behind him.
Stone glows before a wave of lava submerges and Sam charges across the surface of the liquid rock. A hand seal from William announces the swarm of bees that flood from his body and rise into the air as he rushes to meet his friend. Spade meets fist and the two are in a quick fight as they exchange blows. Sam swings his spade low and sends a pillar of lava at the heavily covered boy. A flicker of motion shows William grabbing his scythe and slicing through the lava with a glowing trail following his blade before he sprints through the opening in the molten stone and slams a fist into Sam's face. Orange hair flies wildly as he tumbles and William abruptly jumps into the air as a sword dripping with lava swings at where he was a moment ago. A six foot lizard stands on two feet with lava flowing off it as the beast hisses and charges the enemy.
Sam tumbles to a stop and groans in pain at the bruise on his cheek. He smiles and cracks his neck before looking at the summon. He snickers at the lizard aggressively attacking william. He summoned it during the fight with neji for an ace in the hole but the beast had to stay underground for a lot longer than expected. He's gonna get yelled at for making it wait so long for the signal. His spade discharging chakra into the ground. Sam picks up his weapon and charges into the fight as William slashes the lizard across the throat and sends it back to the summoning realm. Weapons clash and William smirks before his cheeks bulge and he spits out a sharp stone that grazes Sam's cheek. Blood drips from his face as Sam snarls and lava rises to capture william.
A burst of chakra lets William leap above it and bees wrap him to allow him to hover above sam. Sam scowls at this and starts going through hand seals as William digs in his coat.
"Since when can you fly?" Sam asks. His hands are a blur.
"I learned a few tricks during the month off. I intended to tell you and Jake after the exams." William replies as he pulls a red cylinder out of his coat.
Sam laughs and finishes his hand seals as he slams his palms to the ground. Chakra flows from him and he roars his technique.
"Yōgan gōremu!" Sam roars out.
Lava flows upwards and forms a rough humanoid shape before the construct thrusts its hands forward and sends a torrent of molten stone at the airborne william. A white cloud sprays from the cylinder in his grip as William presses down on a lever. The cloud hardens the liquid stone and it falls to the ground in chunks as the two attacks vie for dominance. The golem stops its attack and slaps the ground causing a wall of lava to rise that the construct punches sending it flying forward. The cloud envelopes William as he charges the attack and emerges in a spray of stone. William lands with a thud and cranks a dial before a much stronger burst of vapor envelops the golem along with sam.
Sam curses as the lava he was wrapping himself in is turned to stone along with the now statue of his golem. William calmly walks forward and places a handful of bees on his friend's forehead.
"Fine. I quit. Now get me out of this! It's cold!" sam sighs before yelling at his friend.
William nods and flips through hand seals before placing his hand on the stone wrapping his friend. The rock crumbles to gravel and Sam sighs as he stretches his limbs. Williams' victory is announced and the pair begin to walk to the competitors' seats.
"What was that stuff you used to stop my lava?" Sam asks his friend.
"Fire extinguisher foam. I enhanced a fire extinguisher with seals and originally intended to use it in the event that my pepper spray didn't work on sasuke. It was made with the purpose of blocking high level fire attacks so i hypothesized that it would work to counter your lava. I am thankful it did." William replied calmly.
"Wait. you fucking guessed that a fire extinguisher would freeze my lava? You?! Dude you have like a bajillion plans for everything! Surely you had a plan for fighting me." sam exclaims.
"No. I do not plan to fight my friends." William replies.
Sam smiles warmly and reaches out an arm to wrap around his friend with a laugh. The increased buzzing from William announces his discomfort and Sam just laughs again as they enter the seats for competitors.
The next fight is announced as shino vs william and the beekeeper forfeits from the stands before the heir of the aburame is announced as the winner of the chunin exams. Cheers erupt before an explosion rocks the stadium. The kage seats have been detonated and smoke billows from them as a large snake emerges in the center of the stadium. A pale man stands on top of the serpent and laughs maniacally as ninja leap off the snake and begin attacking people. Orochimaru has attacked the leaf.
