Liliana Gilbert unlocked the door to her apartment and stepped inside, the click of the lock echoing through the empty hallway. It had been a long dag, and all she wanted was a moment of peace. She turned on the light and closed the door behind her, shutting out the hectic world outside.

Putting her purse down on the table next to the door, she let out a sigh of relief. The weight of the day seemed to lift of her shoulder as she kicked off her high heels, feeling the coolness of the floor against her tired feet. With each step, she made her way into her bedroom, the dim light casting a tranquil glow.

Liliana reached for the face scrub on the counter and gently massaged it into her skin, feeling the soft granules exfoliate away the remnants of the day´s stress. With a splash of water, she removed the scrub, her face feeling refreshed and renewed. She reached for a soft towel and patted her skin dry, reveling in the simple pleasure of self-care.

As she made her way towards the kitchen, she turned on the radio, the soft melody filling the air, soothing her weary soul. Liliana walked over to the refrigerator, her eyes scanning the shelves until she found a bottle of wine she had tucked away in the back. It was a special bottle, one she had been saving for a moment like this.

She took the bottle and a wine glass with her as she made her way through the dimly lit apartment. The soft glow from the light danced on the walls as she opened the French doors and walked outonto the balcony. The cool air embraced her as she settled down on the comfortable couch, her sanctury amidest the chaos of the world.

Pouring herself a glass of wine, Liliana lifted it to her lips and took a sip. The rich taste filled her mouth, bringing a sense of calm and contentment. She looked up at the night sky, the stairs twinkling above her like a distant promises. It was on night like these when she felt all alone in the world, yet somehow connected to something greater.

Her thoughts drifted to a different time and place. She wondered what would have happened if she had stayed in Mystic falls, the town she had once called home. But then she gaze fall upon the diamond ring on her finger, and a tear escaped her eyes. If she had stayed, she would never had met him.

Kol Mikaelson had stepped into her life like a whirlwind, turning her world upside down. He had been the missing piece to her puzzle, completing her in ways she had never thought possible. Liliana had suffered from a broken heart, scarred by a tragic past, and it had never occurred to her that she could find love again.

But Kol had shattered those beliefs, showing her the meaning of true love. He thaught her that it was okay not to be perfect, not to always be in control. He showed her how to embrace her flaws and be herself, unapologetically. With him, she found solace, understanding, and a love that knew no bounds.

Everything had been perfect, until it all turned into a disaster. Liliana had discovered who Kol really was, a vampire. Not just any vampire, but an original vampire, one of the very first to walk the earth. Her family had spend their lives protecting her from creatures like him, and she was torn between her heart and her duty to her loved ones.

In fear and confusion, she had run from him, leaving behind everything they had built together. But Kol didn´t give up so easily. He had followed her, pleading for her to give him another chance, telling her that he had found something better then killing, he had found her. His words echoed in her mind, his love for her shining through his eyes.

She had returned to New Orleans with him, their love rekindled yet fragile. But then, on christmas eve, Kol disappeared into thin air, leaving her heart broken and alone when she had needed him the most.

Liliana had always been plagued by the mystery of her pregnancy. How was it possible for her to coceive a child when she had been involved with Kol, a vampire? It was an enigma that hunted her for years. Yet, when her son was born, she pushed these questions aside, focusing on the joy of motherhood.

As the years passed, Liliana started to notice something strange. While others around her aged and grow older, she remined seemingly untouched by the passage of time. Wrinkles did not ecth themselves upon her skin, and her vitality remained unwavering. The unchanging nature of her appearance caused her tp question her own existence and seek answers to the queries that had long been buried.

Twenty years had passed since the birth of her son when tragedy struck. He met his untimely demise in a devastating car accident. Grief enveloped Liliana´s heart, shrouding her in profound sorrow. Yet, amidst her anguish, she observed peculiar changes within her son. He had awakened, restless and tormented, consumed by an insatiable thirst for blood. It was then Liliana´s realization dawned, her son was a vampire.

Determined to understand the truth behind the mysterious entanglement, Liliana embarked on a relentless quest for knowledge. Her pursuit led her to a remote corner of the world, where she encountered a powerful and ancient witch. The witch, captivated by Liliana´s relentless determination, decided to divulge what she knew.

The witch explained that during liliana´s childbirth, she had teetered on the precipice of death. Her life force wavered, threatening to slip through the thin veil that separates the living from the afterlife. Yet, it was the intervention of her son´s hybrid blood, part-human, part-vampire, that managed to save her from the clutches of dead. In doing so, she however, the melding of their blood had brought forth unforeseen consequences.

But what were these consequences, Liliana desperately pleaded with the witch to reveal. The witch, her eyes heavy with trepidation, explained that Liliana´s son had a dormant vampire gene witin him, passed down from his father, Kol. When he parished, his vampire side ascended, overpowering his humanity. This awakening exposed a deeply intertwined connection between mother and son.

As for Liliana, the witch hesitated before revealing her final revelation. She could not say for certain what had accurred within her own body during that miraculous pregnancy. The fusion of vampire and human blood had created an unprecedented bond, altering Liliana´s body in ways that defied conventional explanation. It was a secret that not even the potent magic of the witch could decipher.

Liliana´s mind were consumed by the thoughts of her son. She didn´t even notice when he stepped out onto the balcony until he spoke.

"Hey, mom." He called out, his voice tinged with a mix of weariness and determination.

Startled, Liliana raised her head and smiled lovingly at her son before responding. "Hey, baby. What´s going on?"

"I´m going out to find some food." He informed her, his tone resolute.

Liliana´s heart sank slightly, her concern for him palpable. "What kind of food are we talking about?" She inquired, her voice laced with both worry and understanding

Rolling his eyes, her son sighed in exasperation. "Don´t start, okay?"

Liliana didn´t injoy seeing him out on the streets, feeding on innocent people. But deep down she knew that he only resorted to such measure when he truly needed to survive. The fear of him being discovered hunted her every waking moment. Five years ago when they had been living in England- the incident that led to his discovery, feeding on a woman. That was the catalyst for their abrupt relocation to Paris, where they hoped to find solace and anonymity.

Seeing the worry etched across her face, her son took a step closer to her as he spoke. "Mom, I swear i won´t hurt anyone. I will be careful."

Tears welled up in Liliana´s eyes, and she reached out to touch his face gently. "I know you try your best, my love. Just promise me, you will be safe."

He nodded, his eyes filled with a mixture of gratitude and sadness. "I promise, mom."

As her son disappeared into the shadows of the apartment, Liliana wrapped herself in a blanket that had been carelessly strewn over a near by chair. She sank back against the couch, her eyes fixated on the illuminated Eiffel Tower in the distance.

The city of Paris, with it´s vibrant lights and bustling streets, had become their sanctuary. It´s dark secrets provided a perfect backdrop for their existence, hidden in plain sight. But Liliana couldn´t shake the constant fear and worry that gripped her heart. She yearned for more peaceful times, where her son could live without the burden of his insatiable hunger.
