Chapter 393: The Dragon of Revelation vs The Dragon of the Apocalypse Part 1

Flying through the air in his draconic form, Dante felt his sanity slipping away. Drawing power from his Lucifer form was one thing, it would merely darken his personality for a moment, but he was still in control. In this draconic form the rage that filled Dante towards all of creation was consuming him. He was now the Dragon of Revelation, the dragon meant to destroy the entire world and it was taking all of his willpower to hold onto his sanity. The only thing that was making Dante hold onto his sanity was the need to protect everyone, he needed to kill Acnologia before he lost his sanity. As Dante continued to fly through the air, he thought about how he had decided to have this final trump card just in case he would have to kill Acnologia himself.

"Thanks for meeting me on such short notice" stated Dante in a serious tone, standing in the middle of forest clearing while Jellal walked up to him. It was about six months since the disbandment of Fairy Tail and Dante was hard at work as a member of the magic council. While the looming potential threat of war with the Alvarez Empire weighed heavily on his mind, Dante knew that it wasn't the only threat on the horizon. Somewhere out there was Acnologia, and someone would have to beat the black dragon in battle if the world was to remain safe.

"It's not a problem. Your message sounded serious so I rushed over as soon as I could" responded Jellal in a serious tone, thinking that whatever Dante wanted to talk about it was serious considering Dante wanted to talk alone.

"I assume that you need to talk about something serious considering you didn't want me to bring along Meredy" stated Jellal in a serious tone. Nodding his head, Dante started to speak.

"Yah It's serious alright and I need you to promise me to keep this to yourself." responded Dante in a serious tone. Seeing the conviction in Dante's face, Jellal nodded his head as he started to speak.

"I promise to keep whatever you need to say to myself" responded Jellal in a steady tone, curious what Dante was about to say. Nodding his head in understanding, Dante started to speak.

"I have a way to beat Acnologia in battle, but it's a one way trip for me" responded Dante as he used his magical power to summon the book of Lucifer. Turning to a particular page, Dante showed it to Jellal as he continued to speak.

"Read the spell on this page, it explains of a way I can gain the power to defeat the black dragon" stated Dante as he handed the book of Lucifer to Jellal. Jellal nodded his head as he took the book and started to read it, his eyes becoming wide as he read the contents on the page.

"Dante, this spell it's" Jellal started to say before he was cut off by Dante who started to speak.

"It's drastic I know but it could be the only way to defeat Acnologia. It's obvious that Acnologia can only be harmed by dragon slayer magic or the power of another dragon. I'm not going to leave this burden to the dragon slayers when I can do something to help" stated Dante in a determined tone. Jellal nodded his head in understanding as he started to speak.

"I understand that Dante but this spell, there's no going back from this" responded Jellal as he read the section about the caster completely being consumed by the urge to destroy all living things. Reading the contents of the spell, Jellal continued to speak.

"Even if this spell gives you the power to kill Acnologia we are just trading one problem for another. This spell will cause you to lose control and then we have another dragon on a destructive rampage" stated Jellal, handing the book of Lucifer back to Dante. Taking the book back, Dante dismissed it with his magical power before he started to speak.

"That's why I wanted to talk to you. I know I can hold onto my sanity long enough to kill Acnologia, my desire to protect the ones I love will anchor my sanity until then" responded Dante. Jellal still not understanding how this involved him started to speak.

"Okay but once you lose your sanity then what" asked Jellal in a curious tone. Giving Jellal a serious look, Dante started to speak.

"I want you to place an explosive spell on my heart and make the trigger go off if I completely lose my sanity" responded Dante in a serious tone that told Jellal he was determined to do anything to save the world. Giving Dante a surprised look, Jellal started to speak.

"Dante I don't know if I" Jellal started to say before Dante cut him off as he started to speak.

"Please, I know you can do it. The magic should be simple enough for you" responded Dante. Jellal was silent for a moment before he started to speak.

"You really intended to do this don't you" asked Jellal in a serious tone. Nodding his head, Dante started to speak.

"Yes I do. I would do anything for my loved ones, even if I have to sacrifice myself" responded Dante in a determined tone. Again, Jellal was silent for a moment before he started to speak.

"This must be a last resort; I don't want you jumping to this unless there is no other way" responded Jellal in a serious tone. Nodding his head in agreement, Dante started to speak.

"Trust me I won't do this if I don't have too. I want to protect everyone, but I also want to live a long life with them. I will only do this if there is no other option" responded Dante in a determined tone, hoping that he would never have to use his final trump card. Dante knew that doing this would save everyone, but it would cause Mira and the others unbearable pain when they lost him. Nodding his head in understanding, Jellal started to speak.

"Okay, I'll do it" responded Jellal, gaining a new level of respect for Dante since he was willing to sacrifice everything to save the world from Acnologia. After Jellal said these words he used his magical power to place an explosive spell on Dante's heart. The explosive spell would go off if Dante ever fully lost his sanity and once the spell went off it would instantly kill Dante. After serval minutes Jellal stepped back from Dante and continued to speak.

"It's done, the spell is placed on your heart" stated Jellal in a serious tone. Nodding his head in understanding, Dante started to speak.

"Thanks, this means a lot Jellal. I appreciate the help" responded Dante, grateful that his final trump card was now set up just in case he needed to use it.

"I hope for your sake and the others you will not have to use such drastic means" responded Jellal, knowing that while Dante's plan might lead to the end of the black dragon it would not be without significant loss. Nodding his head in agreement, Dante started to speak.

"I agree. This will save everyone, but it will also break their hearts" responded Dante, thinking back to Dragon King Festival where he sacrificed himself in the alternate timeline before Ultear turned back time. Dante remembered how heartbroken his siblings were when he died in front of them and how they cried and begged him to never do something like that again. Letting out a tired sigh, Dante continued to speak.

"It doesn't matter if doing this will break their hearts. As long as they all live long lives, I will gladly sacrifice myself if the situation calls for it" stated Dante in a determined tone, thinking that keep Mira and the others safe was worth any price. Nodding his head in understanding, Jellal started to speak.

"Just don't make this sacrifice too rashly, I don't want to see Erza and the others heartbroken" responded Jellal thinking that he wouldn't feel right if he was partly responsible for hurting Erza again. Nodding his head, Dante started to speak.

"I won't, trust me I will be thinking of other ways to defeat Acnologia. Hopefully I will never have to perform this spell and we can take this conversation to our graves but it's reassuring that I have this trump card just in case" responded Dante, hoping that another solution will present itself so he could live a long life with Mira and the others.

"I hope you can keep this conversation a secret, I don't want the others to worry about me" stated Dante thinking that if anyone learned about his final trump card they would try and prevent him from doing what was necessary. Giving Dante a serious look, Jellal started to speak.

"I won't say a word to the others and I will also strive to find another solution that doesn't involve you sacrificing yourself" responded Jellal in a serious tone.

"Thanks again, this means a lot" responded Dante in a grateful tone before he waved goodbye to Jellal. Thinking back to the present, Dante continued to battle within himself.

As Dante flew through the air in his draconic form, he could feel the overwhelming urge to kill all living things fill him. Opening his now many mouths, Dante let lose a mighty roar as he tried to hold onto his sanity. Images of Mira and the others were the only things that were preventing him from completely losing himself. He had already transformed; his fate was sealed. The only thing that Dante could do know is hold onto his sanity long enough to kill Acnologia, then the spell on his heart would claim his life.

Images of Mira smiling at him filled his mind as Dante tried to hold onto himself. Regret and guilt filled him, temporally overpowering the strong urge to destroy the entire world. Dante felt guilty that he had to do this, that he was forcing Mira and the others to live life without him. Knowing how painful it would be to lose anyone he loved, Dante could understand the pain he was about to put everyone through because of his sacrifice. Flyng through the air Dante once again concluded that the price was worth it. Mira and the others might be heartbroken, but at least they will still be alive and safe.

"Mira what is that in the sky" asked Lisanna in a worried tone as she watched another dragon fly through the sky above them. Minutes ago, Lisanna watched in horror along with serval other members of the guild as Acholoiga flew above them. Thinking that their troubles couldn't get any worse, Lisanna noticed a red dragon with seven heads flying through the air. Giving her little sister a worried look, Mira started to speak.

"It looks like another dragon" responded Mira in a worried tone as she watched the red dragon fly through the air. Worried that they would have to face two dragons instead of one, Lisanna started to speak.

"I thought Acnologia was the last dragon alive. Does this mean we have to battle two dragons" asked Lisanna in a worried tone since the new red dragon looked just as imposing as Acnologia.

"I don't think so, look" responded Elfman as he pointed towards the red dragon that was quickly gaining on Acnologia.

"It looks like the red dragon is pursuing Acnologia" stated Elfman in a hopeful tone. After Elfman said these words, everyone watched as Dante let lose a mighty roar before he collided into Acnologia. Everyone on the ground gasped with shock as the two dragons started to battle against each other.

"You're right, but why would this new dragon attack Acnologia? Does this mean this new dragon is on our side" asked Lisanna in a confused tone. After Lisanna said these words, Erza was teleported to them thanks to the help of Mest. Turning their attention towards Erza, Mira started to speak.

"Erza you're just in time. A red dragon suddenly appeared and is fighting against Acnologia. Do you know anything about" Mira started to ask before the worried look from Erza told her that something was seriously wrong. With a worried look on her face, Erza started to speak.

"The red dragon currently fighting against Acnologia is Dante" responded Erza with a tearful expression, knowing that Dante must have sacrificed himself to achieve this sort of power to fight against the black dragon. Feeling horror fill her body at these words, Mira turned her attention towards who she know knew was Dante. Watching as Dante battled against Acnologia in the air, she started to speak.

"That dragon is Dante? I don't understand, how can that be Dante" asked Mira worried that something was seriously wrong. Watching as Dante let lose another mighty roar, Mira could hear the pure rage within the roar and Mira felt her heart sink. Mira could feel that something was wrong with Dante, and she hoped that it was just her imagination.
