Yay, an interlude!

I know that it is rather early, but I wanted to establish a little bit of the back story of how Pru knows Alec Hardison. Since she knows him from before, I will use his first name as opposed to his last name, like the rest of the team does.

This takes place not that long before Season 1, Episode 2: The Homecoming Job.

The legalities: I do not own any of the Leverage franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au. Rated M just to be on the safe side.

Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!

Hope you enjoy!

Prudence Beck wasn't entirely sure what she was doing in Los Angeles. Ok, scratch that, she knew why she was there; what she wasn't sure about was why she had let him convince her to actually come. Pru sighed as she double-checked the address that he'd sent her before entering the building at that address and going over to the elevator. She really needed to stop letting him pique her curiosity.

It had all started a few years before. Pru had gone to visit one of her old neighbors (who had become a dear friend) when she first met Alec Hardison. He was one of Nana's newest arrivals and the woman, for some untold reason, seemed to believe that Pru would be able to reach him. And, you know, take him under her wing in order to keep him on the straight and narrow. While she did end up viewing the fledgling hacker as a younger brother, Pru also ended up helping him to develop his researching practices in an effort to help him try to only hit people or companies who deserved it and not the "little guys," as it were.

That had led to today. She had just stepped off of the elevator and headed to the door that led to the main area of the top floor. Alec had left her a message asking if she could possibly come to L.A. for a new opportunity. Having just quit her last job, she hadn't actually wanted to start something new. Alec had persisted and won out, however, so here she was.

Walking in Pru was greeted by the sight of Alec leaning his back against a (mostly) empty desk, smirking at her as she shut the door. Crossing her arms and raising one of her eyebrows, she stood silently across from him until he couldn't actually stand it anymore.

"So, what do you think, Pru? Want to come be our office manager?"

Pru furrowed her brow. "Alec, I don't even know what you all do here!"
alec rubbed the back of his neck and looked slightly sheepish. "Oh, oops. Umm, as my new boss says, we provide leverage against corporations and people that pray on the little guy."

"So, a bit like Robin Hood, using the research techniques that I taught you?"

"Yep. So, you in?"

Pru smirked. "You owe me two trips to the bookstores."

"Ugh, my arms are going to be in pain, aren't they?"

"What did you think would happen when you called me? It's not my fault that you feed my addiction."

"Still better than drugs, as Nana would say."

"Amen to that."
