Chapter 5

Daring took a moment to explore the artifact room first, she noticed a missing compartment in a pedestal in the back of the room

'Is this how she bypassed the usual self-destruct of temples like these?'

It was a possibility that this tomb was designed without that in mind, even if incredibly rare they still do exist. That troubled Daring, those were always the ones with the most dangerous traps. After finishing looking around she came to a stop as she saw the first obstacle, her feathers bristling at the absurd quantity of magic

'Uh! That was a strong wave of magic! Better be careful here'

She picked up the nearest pebble and threw it at the seemingly empty space before her... it struck something, then a crackling noise was heard following by a scorched stone falling to the ground

'That's bad, that's horrible! Its going to take hours before I'm out of here!'

《The sapphire fortress, Everfree 》

"Are you sure she doesn't have anything that can track our teleportation?" Kalaha asked Rose

"Don't worry, she may be familiar with your signature but mine is much harder to decipher even for unicorns, she is a pegasi, highly trained yes, but still. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, if we got the room right she's going to be there a while" Rose said with a smile on her muzzle

She opened her bag taking out the artifact and the amplifier "Here, turns out that this small piece was all that kept us from using our magic"

"Huh, seems like we were wrong about the item only having one use, I'll be studying both of them tomorrow, good luck with the elements!" She said as she made her leave

"Good luck indeed" Rose said as she began to walk to her room, suddenly she felt something shocking happening in everfree

"WHY ON THE GREAT GODS IS THERE A RAMPAGING URSA IN MY FOREST!"

She yelled as she quickly made her way to the place where her forest met Ponyville

《Forbidden jungle, Temple 2 hours later》

Daring finally saw the exit to the labyrinth, she wanted to just run trough, but she threw the stone one last time, sure enough she heard the same crackling noise as the stone hit an invisible wall, walking around it she was finally out of this nightmare

"Oh my Celestia, finally" she said as she sank to the ground out of fatigue "I think I will rest a little after that, I really hope the rest isn't going to be this awful"

After some time spent replenishing her energy, she walked to another room this one had big drop with a pit with spikes on both the ground... and the ceiling, next to the drop there were situated a few small objects, she thought about it for a moment and then just glided down onto safety with her wings, bypassing the puzzle completely

In the next room she was met with a set of four doors, the inscriptions on them resembling a Dragon, Chimera, Cockatrice and a wierd creature she wasn't familiar with, it had a goat's head, a left lion's paw, right gryffin's claw and a dragon's tail.

'I feel like I've seen this creature before... but I can't remember where' she thought

She looked for clues to which door was the correct one, the only one she noticed was that the door with the unknown creature shone a bit brighter than the other ones. She hesitantly creaked open the door, ready for whatevers inside to jump at her but just as she entered the room fully she fell unconscious

《Unknown, 19 700 years ago》

She awoke floating above some kind of battlefield, unable to move her body. She saw thousands of ponies outfitted with blue and golden armors that emanated a strange aura, the captains of their squads shouted orders. After the first line of battle, various types of ranged attackers supported the warriors, archers were applying their mastery of the bow with dangerous precision, and unicorns with various amulets rained devastating spells onto the battlefield.

All was in favor of the blue armored side, until three unicorns on the opposite side pulled out something from their cloaks, the surge in power was unimaginable, it was as if three suns manifested on the barren surface.

Then, all Tartarus broke loose

An earthquake shattered the ground beneath the blue warriors, and beams of blinding light disintegrated the unicorns and archers. The three ponies moved with speed that was hard to follow to the eye, they quickly found themselves in front of the general's tent, and promptly executed him by scorching the tent with fire spells

'...' Daring was terrified, she only ever heard of these kind of battles in her studies, but seeing it was another thing entirely.

《The forbidden jungle, present》

Just like it came, the vision began to fade, Daring finding herself in a hallway with an opened door on the other side. She still didn't move, her mind in a state of shock and fear, it took her a few minutes to calm down and regain control of her thoughts

'...' She never seen those kinds of amulets before, it was as if she suddenly found herself in front of the Princess, she had to search the library's on these things, the consequences of someone like Aphra getting a hold on one of these would be catastrophic

She silently walked to the other side of the hallway, the next room was a complete mess, Ahuizotl laying on the ground with a pretty nasty bruise on the head, near him were the remains of some sort of melted golden statue, a few drops of a strange liquid silvery metal surrounding it. On the opposite side of the room she finally found the exit

She exited the tomb, a new goal formed in her mind, to find these amulets and make sure they don't end up the wrong hoofs
