CHAPTER 4: The Motor Home

Back in the forest, Norman and Derek were having fun exploring the forest.

After a while, Derek said, "Norman, do you think we should carry on to Newtown?"

"Newtown is still a long way away." Norman sighed. "Maybe we should find a bus." he suggested.

They walked back to the car park, and it was then they saw a motor-home-like vehicle parked there. "What's that doing there?" Norman wondered.

It was then he & Derek saw the motor home looked... rather patched and scrappy, not like any motor home he'd seen before - it even had some graffiti marks.

He saw the door on the far side was open.

"We should have a look." he said suddenly.

"Are you sure?" Derek asked, "What if we get caught trespassing? This motor home isn't ours, you know."

"It'll only be a quick look, Derek." Norman said, dismissing his cousin's worries. "After all," he added, quoting Toad from 'Wind in the Willows', "there's no harm in only just looking."

He went up to the motor home, and Derek followed, albeit reluctantly.

When Norman & Derek got inside, they saw it looked very scrappy, and some of the seats and floor looked worn down.

"Whoa." Norman said. "This is strange. I never saw a motor home as messy as this on that one school trip me and my friends took last year."

They examined the bathroom, and the bedrooms.

Eventually, Derek was beginning to get worried. "Norman," he said anxiously, "I think we should go now. What if someone finds us here?"

"You worry too much, Derek!" Norman said. "We're safe here! What's the worst thing that could happen?"

SUDDENLY!

Norman & Derek heard footsteps from outside.

This made them worried. If they tried to escape now, anyone that the motor home belonged to would find Norman & Derek, know they were trespassing, and kick them out onto the road, or even worse, take them back to Pontypandy, where they would be found out as runaways!

"What do we do now, Norman? This is all your fault!" Derek snapped at his cousin.

"I know! We'll hide!" Norman said.

they quickly hid in the toilet in the motor home, and shut and locked the door. "Good." Norman thought to himself, as he and Derek lay down. "No one will think to find us here."

THEY kept quiet, listening as he heard footsteps, then a door shut, and the next thing They knew, the motor home gave a sharp jerk backwards, and then they felt the motor home's engine roar like a tiger, and it raced along the country roads as fast as Jupiter.

The motor home smashed through a gate, and sped through a field, scaring the sheep in there as it went by, Woolly and Lambikins included, making a cameo.

Eventually, Norman and Derek were so tired, they fell fast asleep.
