Aki's first day wasn't fated to be trailed by an older brother like Killua's, but it was still a fun morning. He woke up bright and early to the smell of cooking. But it was in contrast to the yelling outside his room. His parents were arguing, although it was more of a one-sided beating. "Why would you put the eggshell in the bowl too you dumbass!" the sentence structure makes it seem like a question, but it's not. "He has to leave in like 20 minutes and now we have to remake the entire thing!" Aki peaked through his door to see what was going on. After he had thoroughly processed it with his morning brain he went out. "That's okay! You don't have to do anything grand. We can just do toast!" they peeled off each of them, and Hazuki made his toast. "You go get changed. Food will be ready when you're done." he nodded and went off.

He came back to a very apologetic Hazuki and a cheerful Reina. As he finished up his toast both his parents looked back towards him "Good luck. Hope you don't get a bad first teacher." he grabbed his backpack and headed off. Since he was located in the middle of nowhere, his parents had the choice to get him transportation and they obliged, not wanting to get up at 6 am to drive.

He walked towards his stop and soon the flashing red lights of his bus greeted him. As he boarded he noticed his new fellow students sitting among them. He recognized one from the entrance exams with the long hair. He went over to congratulate and greet her. "You passed too. Guess we'll be classmates then!" he extended a palm and she shook his hand saying "Not necessarily. We could be put into different classes." she nodded off in thought but stayed attentive towards him. "Even if we aren't in the same class, we can still be friends right?" he gave her a wide grin. "Sure. So what's your name?" He almost forgot about the introduction part "Oh it's Kobayashi Aki. Nice to meet you uh…" "Shiozaki Ibara."

The rest of the ride was filled with idle chatter about the exams and general information about themselves. It was a pleasant ride and she wrote down her number for him to text if he ever wanted to get into contact with her.

As they arrived at the school, his mouth was agape. The sign was massive and so was the entire school. The entrance to the school was through the cafeteria. He went in and was surprised about the amount of people. It was filled to the brim but he noticed people gathering around one spot. He went there and due to his being short, he couldn't see the sign. He pushed around someone and read the sign 'homeroom assignments for first years'. He waited for everyone to get done and scanned the list for his name. He got put into Class 1-B and then went on to scan the list again for Shiozaki's name. 'So she's with me huh? I guess I'll already have a friend in that class!'

He was about to have an issue with finding where his class was but his issue was resolved when he saw a neat stack of papers sitting on a table in front of the board. A map decorated the paper's covers and he grabbed it and started heading towards his class. His classroom was on the first floor and he went towards it, admiring the door as he went in. He spotted Shiozaki already sitting down at a desk and waved to her, sitting down next to her.

"We got into the same class after Miss Shiozaki!" She smiled at him as well but sternly said "if we're going to be friends, you shouldn't refer to me as 'miss', it's too formal Kobayashi." He accepted this explanation quickly but spoke up "In that case just call me Aki." Her mouth opened "it feels weird to use Kobayashi so call me Aki." Shiozaki paused for a second contemplating something before saying "This may seem rude to ask but, are you from the countryside?" He was more confused about why she thought he would be offended by that than what the question was really about. Now that he thought about it though, he didn't really know where he was from. He didn't have any memories from before the mountain after all. He decided to respond truthfully "I actually don't know if I am from the countryside."

She furrowed her brows, asking "What do you mean you don't know if you are?" As his mouth opened and he was about to respond, another person entered the room. A boy definitely older than him, with silvery white hair and jet-black skin. Aki's interest was thoroughly peaked and he all but forgot about her question. He went up to greet the boy. "Hello! I'm Kobayashi Aki. Nice to meet you!" His gesture wasn't reciprocated though. The other boy didn't respond and just nodded towards him, taking a seat in the back. 'I guess he isn't very talkative. Kind of reminds me of—'The door swung open and he went to greet the new person.

This went on for each person in the class, and unlike the first person most greeted him cordially. There were some aggressive types in the group but none of them ignored him like the first one did. There were a couple he had definitely made friends with as well. There was Yosetsu Awase, he was rather quiet at first but had been charmed by Aki's friendly nature and warmed up to him. He did start swearing like a sailor though. He thought he heard Shiozaki say something about him 'definitely from the countryside' but he ignored that claim. There was also Itsuka Kendo, a girl with a similar personality to Aki. She seemed a bit more short-tempered towards another classmate named Neito Monoma but otherwise, they had clicked. Jurota Shishida is slightly more scary-looking than some of his other classmates, but Aki wasn't discouraged. Shishida was nicer than expected and addressed him formally. Aki got him to cut down on the 'sirs' but couldn't get him to use his first name instead of his last. Finally, there was Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu. Aki thought his name was a little strange but the guy himself was very outgoing so he tossed that thought away. Like with Kendo their personalities generally clicked and they were immediate friends.

After the introductions had all been finished the class finally started, and their teacher walked into the room. Everyone in the room except for two of the students recognized him. "You're the guy I saw at the entrance exam!" He was wearing something less flashy than before, but he was definitely the same guy. The man flashed them a small smile "It's nice to see all of you passed the exam. Although, I do see some new faces as well." Most students did notice the passive-aggressive tone he sent their way. The way they paraded towards the exam site and ignored his instructions plagued their minds. "You may know me as the pro hero Vlad King. In this classroom, however, you may just call me Mr. Kan." His classmates seemed a little down at this revelation but Kan went on to say "That is just this classroom. A majority of our hero training will be done outside of this room." The tension lightened and the room seemed the slightest bit brighter hearing him.

Kan went over the basic things like the curriculum and gave a general overview of the course. He did orientation and soon went into the main dish of the class that day. "Since it's your first day, the work is light but we are at U. A. so we do have some things to do." He handed out sheets of paper to the students. They had the title 'survey' listed on the top. Most appeared to be shooting him weird glances so he explained "I need to learn more about your strengths and weaknesses if we are to train you properly. Regurgitating stuff you already know won't help you in the long run." giving a brief look over the survey Aki realized something wasn't right so he raised his hand to ask. Kan called him out and asked him what he was having trouble with. "If this is just to figure out our strengths and weaknesses, why are you asking about our personality? It doesn't affect our quirks does it?" the teacher was caught off guard but gave a small smile at his perceptiveness "If you are too emotionally fragile or too rash it can prove to be a detriment fighting against villains. I'm also using it for one other thing but… you shouldn't know what for until we actually get there." everybody, not just Aki, were confused at his vagueness but filled out the survey as instructed.

The rest of the period and the next period went by in a flash. The latter class receiving less enthusiasm from the students because of its subject. Some even objected and received harsh criticism from their teachers about why math was still important. Lunch came and the students lined up to get their lunches. The clashing and banging of the line ahead scared him but when he arrived at the front, a smiling chef greeted him. "Would you like something with meat in it, or do you wanna go light?" "Something with meat please!" Aki watched in wonder as the chef went to work, the clashing from before suddenly making sense. It was like dining at a hibachi place but even faster. The final product looked heavenly and Aki couldn't wait.

He noticed his new group of friends waving him over and he came and sat down at one end. The group started commenting on the overall day, Shiozaki saying how she was glad they didn't do much and Jurota the opposite. He was about to comment himself but out of the corner of his eye he saw something and he couldn't help but stare. A flock of silver hair swept by. He recognized that the only classmate of his who had silver hair looked different than that so he was confused. 'If that's not my classmate then why—' "Aki?" 'Do they look so familiar?' "Aki! Are you there?"

He broke out of his trance to see Kendo looking very concerned for him. "Are you okay? You looked like you zoned out there." He shot another glance towards the silver hair but it was gone. "I just thought I saw someone I knew is all." Tetsutetsu, who had been ignoring the group in favor of his food, looked up, mouth still full when he said "Someone from your middle school?" He paused and considered what to say in response "I don't know. They just seem familiar."

Shiozaki was reminded of the scene when he said he didn't know if he was a country bumpkin and brought it up again "is this related to why you say you don't know where you're from?" Aki didn't expect to be called out like that so he flinched and then slumped over in his seat "Yeah…" neither of the girls nor Tetsutetsu were brave enough to continue onward with that conversation since none of them had known Aki for long.

The one least expected to ask about that due to his previous politeness was forward with his question "You have no recollection of your home at all. or is it that—" Aki cut him off "no. I just have amnesia." Even if this was a serious moment, the group's eyes brimmed with curiosity, patiently waiting for him to explain. He didn't really want to disclose much about what happened to him but he figured the basics of his situation would be fine. "I don't remember anything from a couple of months ago. I didn't remember my quirk and the family that took me in had to teach me it instead of it just coming in naturally." He figured since they were hero students, the part about his quirk would interest them the most but they instead questioned something else. Jurota in the lead "The family that took you in? Do you not remember your actual family?" He nodded.

Most shot him pitying looks and didn't really want to pry further but one curious figure was still questioning him. "Was that someone you knew from before you lost your memories? The person you were staring at?" Aki shrugged "Maybe. I don't know. They just looked familiar." The mood lightened when Kendo said "Well if you want to remember who you were before this then talking to someone you know would be a great start. And I'll help you do it."

His eyes widened and he almost started to when she asked him another question "They're not someone from our class right?" He decided not to try to say no anymore "They're not." Seeing Kendo get up in arms and try to help motivate the rest of the group as well. Tetsutetsu was the first to, and despite his rough look, he was actually pretty smart. "Describe them for us, they'll be easier to find if we know what they look like." His usual cheery demeanor returned and he smiled happily giving him the answer "he's about my height. He's got silver hair like that person in our class uh.. what's his name?"

It seemed the rest of the group was as lost as he was. Awase, who had been rather quiet till now asked "Hah. Of course, you guys don't know him. He's always really antisocial." He adjusted his bandana to sit more snugly atop his head and continued "I went to middle school with him. Name's Kuroiro Shihai."

Easily distracted, Aki asked, "Do you know why he ignored all of us?" Awase nodded "he's a scheming little bastard. But he also gets a little too emotionally invested if he actually interacts with anyone. So he just walks away and tries to take advantage of them later." The more formal members of the group silently cringed at his word usage but tried not to hold it against him. "Kuroiro isn't important right now though. So the boy you may know has silver hair and is a short stack like you. Got it. I'll keep an eye out."

Shiozaki took offense for Aki to his short stack comment "Don't insult someone's height please, Awase." Awase rubbed the back of his head, forgetting that normal high schoolers probably didn't give each other nicknames like that. Aki agreed to let it happen but he didn't care much about finding out what happened to him. There was a slight curiosity but right now he was happy.

The group all agreed to stay on the lookout for someone like his description and exchanged phone numbers with each other. They agreed that they would create a group chat to send Aki information in case anyone came across the boy. The bell chimed a couple of times and they headed to their next class. Japanese was taught to the class by Present Mic who enthusiastically greeted them all. Despite not being amazing at writing it Aki had fun in it. The final class of the day was biology and Aki was quite good at it. He was attuned with nature before he lost his memories but even with his forgetfulness, he was excellent at figuring out what was happening.

The announcements that it was to leave came on as the buses pulled in and every class left. Aki and Shiozaki walked together to theirs and talked the whole ride home. Aki's stop came first and he gave an enthusiastic "bye!" to her as he walked off.

He came home to find his parents talking about their own school lives years ago. They were happily laughing at one teacher's stubbornness back then. Once he entered the room, however, they looked back excitedly, happy to hear about it. Reina excitedly said, "So, how was your first day?" The school was good for him and he made new friends but his mind rested on the boy. He didn't want to tell them about that part though so he didn't. He told them about his new friends and what they were like. Then, he started to talk about his teacher. "My teacher is this really big guy that said his hero name is Vlad King, I think. He said to just call him Mr. Kan though."

Hazuki had been staring into space and trying to think of who that was when a lightbulb appeared in his head. "Wait Mr. Kan? Sekejiro Kan?" Hazuki pushed his arms flat against the countertop, leaning over. "Yes?" Aki backed away from him, his face getting a little too close. "Holy shit. I was in the same class as him. I didn't think he would be teaching at U.A." Newfound interest sparked in Aki's eyes "Really? Why?" Hazuki chuckled "oh I Have a lot to tell you don't I?"

As Hazuki began to tell his war stories about the olden days, Reina started working on dinner. She could barely overhear their conversation over the boiling water of her pot but the parts she did catch were cute "he was always so grumpy and uptight. Could never—""really cared though. Doesn't mean he didn't mom us too much though."

Their conversation veered to what the couple had been talking about prior to Aki's return. He told him about all their weird teachers and got a few laughs out of the boy. Soon food was ready and served. Their laughter and the great food made for them kept them busy into the night. Now it was time to sleep.

He woke up not on a comfy bed as he expected, but a black void. There was nothing there at all. He was wearing very different clothes than usual. He was wearing a bright green jacket with orange accents. His shorts were the same. He also wore a pair of green boots to complete the outfit. It was different but it felt pretty right to him. He pondered why he was wearing it and realized this was the outfit he was wearing when he arrived here. "But it got torn to shreds, how is it fixed?'

He walked. This place was strange but maybe he could find some line of reason if he kept walking. It wasn't just the void and his restored clothes that were odd though. When he looked down, he could see a reflection of himself looking back. Each time he walked, a ripple was formed, almost like it was water.

He grew tired of walking and stopped for a moment to rest when he saw a ripple go by. The issue was that it wasn't made by him. He turned back and saw him again. It was that boy, but something was wrong. He had no face. Everything but his face was normal. He had a blue turtleneck with a white t-shirt over it. His blue shorts reaching down to his knees. His hands were in his pockets almost as if he had no cares in the world. All of this would have made Aki think he was talking to a normal teenager but the lack of facial features threw him off completely.

The boy started saying something incoherent. It was in an entirely different language so he couldn't understand any of it. it also came out muffled and it was hard to distinguish whether it was even a voice in the first place. He soon realized why it was muffled though. Looking closely at where the noise even came from, he noted that something moved where his mouth should be. It was as if his skin was being pulled into his mouth area. He tuned his ears in to try and figure out what it was saying but came to a startling revelation hearing it. It wasn't another person's voice that was talking to him, it was his.

It started to get louder. louder, Louder, and LOUDER until he couldn't handle it anymore his ears started ringing. He stumbled backward and instead of falling onto the surface, he fell into it. Actually, that wasn't the right word, something pulled him into it. White and black tangled around him and he watched as the boy looked down. The boy crouched and reached into the ground for his hand. Aki had so desperately reached back but he missed him by an inch. Then it was all black again and he was slowly sinking deeper into the abyss.

Then he woke up.

Author's note:

For the 2 on 2 fights to work properly I had to replace one student from 1-A and one from 1-B. The students chosen to be replaced were Hiryu Rin from 1-B and Rikido Sato from 1-A. I know all the crossover people thought Killua should replace Mineta but I was making the choice based on personality. Sato's quirk has to do with consuming sugar and killua loves choco robots so… as for the choice in 1-B, I picked him because: he had a single paragraph of personality listed. It wasn't enough for me to go on at all.

I'm structuring the U.A. schedule like how my high school functions just to let you know. It's easier for me to plan ahead that way.
