POV Eraserhead
Getting a frantic call from All Might was not how I wanted patrol to go. It got worse coming to the random alley in the Glades to see a struggling likely villain straining in zip ties with Viridian down and a barely awake Yagi holding the limp teen tight in his arms. Dropping down next to the hero and vigilante I reached out, pressing my fingers to find a healthy pulse.
"I don't know what happened," Yagi whispered softly, his hands grasping the kid a little tighter.
"Back up on the way?" I asked quietly, looking over at the struggling villain.
"You are the back up." Yagi answered, and really that was a stupid answer. I moved and took the girl from his arms. Doing my best to hid my surprise at how heavy she felt. Avian mutations usually made the person light to allow for them to fly, but the girl was heavy, light still for a normal teen, but heavy for a bird.
"She'll need medical attention, and he'll need the cops," calling the cops here with the girl here would be asking for her to be arrested, she was a known vigilante here, and the I didn't trust the cops in this district, there would only be two options, she'd be locked up tight in the deepest pit they could find for her, or they would hand her over to whoever paid the highest price, and there were some pretty high bounties out there.
"He, we should let him go," Yagi spoke softly, obviously not liking any of this.
"Too late for that now, if this is a quirk, then we'll need to be able to find him, and the easiest way to do that is if there is a police file." Yagi's eyes were starting to droop. "Looks like your under the effects too." I grumble, reaching into my belt and pulling out a pinger to attach to the criminal. "That will bring the police here, now for you two," needing to think fast, that clinic that Viridian had brought me to would be the best place. It was close and she knew it, so they likely knew her too.
"The gym," That place that Nezu had been sending the paper work.
"You got a medic there?"
"Torino-"
"A trained medic Yagi," I corrected my question cause obviously this idiot didn't get it. The silence was answer enough. He was starting to sway side to side we were out of time and the idiot's answer was obvious. "Come on, I'm not carrying both of you." Using my capture weapon to grab the man's wrist and pull him along. Slinging the kid over my shoulder, which got no complaints, which was already a bad sign.
Yagi made it about halfway to the underground clinic before he collapsed and I did end up having to carry the both of them. Shouldering the door open I was greeted by a groan from the reception desk.
"You just had to bring her here, didn't you," the nurse sighed before getting up, pushing a back door open before calling out. "Code Black Bird!" There where a few shouts and groans from the back.
"So I take it she is a regular," I asked rhetorically before putting Yagi down. Thankfully the pro weighed far less than I thought he would.
"Regular enough to know she doesn't like medical equipment, tell me what happened," As the nurse took up a clipboard and another nurse came out with a bed and got Yagi into it. I told them what I could which was not much. They came for Midoriya with a wheelchair that's back had been cut into for her wings to rest comfortably and out of the way. Definitely a regular I followed after them, as there didn't seem to be anything physically wrong with them. When they moved to put them in different rooms I spoke up again.
"Could we keep them together?" I asked the nurse that seemed to be in charge.
"Not with Black Bird," The nurse shook her head. "She tends to be violent when waking up in any medical environment until she knows where she is, and gods help us if someone does something she doesn't understand or like." The nurse groaned.
"Doesn't she know the medic rules in the Underground?" I asked her softly, confused as I looked at the door of the room she had been rolled into.
"Oh she does, leaves us little gifts later after a particularly bad visits. She'd be banned if it wasn't for the fact she is the main protector in the Glades and she hasn't permanently hurt anyone." The nurse sighed, reaching up and running a hand through her hair. "She's terrified of it, someone did something, and she's terrified of close to anything medical you can't find in a medkit." and the nurse went into Midoriya's room. Another nurse just finishing with putting the electrodes on Midoriya and was monitoring her heart. That was fine, the not fine thing was the muzzle the nurse was putting on her face.
"What are you doing?" I hissed, feeling my quirk activate with my anger. Thinking of my husband and even myself who have had limiter devices put on us before by force. To see these Underground medics using them, especially after treating me so kindly when the kid brought me here. I closed my eyes to cancel out my quirk before glaring at the nurse again.
"Eraserhead," The head nurse reached out and grabbed my arm. "Did you not hear what I just said earlier, she panics when she wakes up in places like this, where some have panic attacks, she fights!" She hardly even flinched as I turned my glare down on her. "We can not have a fighter like her burn this place down. She is aware of it and was the one to provide the muzzle." it hardly helped having the new information.
"Burn this place down," I repeated with a careful steel to my voice.
"She can breath and control fire, it burns her sometimes," The nurse at Midoriya's side offered trying to be helpful with the conversation.
"Take it off," I looked back at the kid. She seemed so peaceful what ever was wrong with her there was that at least. In the past when I had seen her she was always glaring or masking. Well Masking till she became sarcastic to hide what was really going on when she wasn't angry at something like the last time she had come to UA.
"But-" The nurse protested.
"I said take it off, I'll stay here and I can deal with her quirk, now take it off." I demanded a third time now. "Or I will report this place for discrimination and everything else. The young nurse paled looking over to the head for support.
"I expect you to keep my people safe, Eraserhead," And the head nurse stepped forward and removed the muzzle, and seeing it only made it worse, there was a bit in it, and while I wanted to rage about this, the nurse already said that the kid provided the muzzle. Why would she go so far? Taking the wheel chair I sat down next to the kid's bed and let the nurses work.
POV Izuku
"Izuku, there is no need to panic." Yagi kept his voice soft and really, his inability to understand just what being here means. He sat in a crouch, looking small. Which really in the small cell we were in he needed to be. Brick to the wall farthest from the door, and bars along all sides except for the roof and floor.
"Right now is the perfect time to panic," I hissed at him, getting up to my feet, trying to mask the shaking. The fear and panic that would not go away.
'Moma,' I turned and there was Eri, her voice was off, wispy and not quite there, like coming in through a wall. Eri was in her spot, curled up with a thin blanket on the floor
"Eri," I bent down opening my arms and the little toddler quickly untangled herself and bounded up to collide with my chest. She was still small, about the same age as when… "We're not here." I whisper softly looking back to Yagi. "This, it isn't real, it can't be."
"That is correct," Yagi asked softly, his voice still sounding right, the pain in my body had faded away to almost nothing now. So if this wasn't real than,
"Of… oh. The mugger, he must have linked our minds for this to happen." I mutter to myself, ducking my head to press my nose to Eri's hair, the scent wasn't there at all. "But what is here, I would never bring us here." This was something to share with no one, ever, no matter how much you trusted them. I didn't want to share this. This was supposed to be a skeleton hidden far below the closet.
'Moma what's going on?' Eri whispered, peeking out from where her face was against my chest.
"It's nothing, little one," I soothed softly, brushing my fingers through her hair. The sound of metal cutting through flesh and two bodies hitting the floor had Yagi up on his feet, and that event was unique enough to know just what night it was. "Hide Eri, quickly." Urging the girl away and back to her blankets under the bed. "It's a memory, Yagi. This was the night I was saved…." I trailed off a little. I really didn't want to share this.
"Are you sure, Young Zu," " He asked softly "if so, than yes, this does look like you need saving." looking over the holding cell, before his gaze landed on the bundle hiding under the bed shaking with a fine tremble. His gaze saddened and he shifted reaching out to the bundle, and while I was fine with him around the Glade kids, Eri was different, I snarled, snapping at air as I leaned closer, throwing a wing out to block his view of her. It took me a moment to draw myself back together.
"I… I'm sorry I… she, she's just," I tried to convey my words, but I just wanted to clutch my jaw shut and hide. Hide far away from here, so much was coming, and there was nothing I could do to stop everything from coming out. My attention was drawn away from Yagi as footsteps approached and there standing at the door of the cell was a man wearing a two toned mask, a high pony tail of black hair. The vest jacket and the many many knives. The familiar rumbling growl coming from my throat, broken and messy in my body's condition. A throat unwilling to cooperate. Thoughts of the past coming through. Another fight so soon, the scent of copper filling the air.
"Such a shame," Stendhal spoke softly, remorse carrying in his tone as he grasped one of the bars of the door. "Wasted life, wasted potential, all because those fakes refuse to see the truth." He opened the door and then stepped inside, Ignoring the way the growl shifted to a snarl.
"Stain? This is what he saved you from?" Yagi asked softly, I felt a hand coming to my wrist and I acted, throwing myself forward towards Stain as the memory took hold.
"GO AWAY!" Slashing the air and sending fire at Stendhal. Knowing what I do now that was my mistake. Stendhal didn't hesitate as others did with fire, stepping right through the green flames unbothered by the heat with complete faith in his uniform. A hand coming out and taking a tight hold around my throat and pushed back against the wall and a knife stabbed into my shoulder. The blade going all the way through and into the wall behind me.
"Moma!" Eri wasn't supposed to speak in the holding cell when others were near. Was supposed to hide until I called for her. Keeping her away from all the violence I could, desperate to hide her quirk, and here was a traumatic experience I couldn't save her from. I roared and shot fire at the vigilante again. Throwing weight behind the katana and attacking him in anyway I could to get him off. A losing fight, my skinny frame easily thrown aside, rather than lunging again, I shifted back to be in front of the precious bundle flared wings and snarling low trying to warn him off. Not caring for the blade in his hand, the screaming injuries, all that mattered was protecting my little starlight.
"She's just a child," Yagi spoke through gritted teeth, moving to get between Stain and I but at this point there was no point.
"She was my companion, a way to force my cooperation," I informed him, seeing no reason to lie at the moment. "But I see her as my daughter." I added onto the previous sentence. Ignoring the small shift from Yagi. The both of us standing and watching as Stain put away his blade and walked away and out the door. Calling over his shoulder.
'If you want to live by your own power, then bring the girl and follow.' The order had been enough then. Even after his attack, the promise of his words were enough reason alone to follow. Turning to Eri and drawing her out of her hiding place, and bundling her onto my back, under my uninjured wing. Hiding her small form as best as I could before the memory ended in a flash.
