My eyes opened slightly and everything was hazy and muffled, I saw my feet as something dragged me across the floor. I could feel something tugging on my collar as it pulled me through the caves. I saw my mace on my stomach as we passed a torch but everything went dark again and my mind swirled.

When I finally woke fully, I wasn't sure how much time had passed or if I was even actually awake because all there was was darkness. I rubbed my head as I sat up, the pain had faded but my head throbbed horribly. I should really get myself checked out soon, I might be bleeding internally after that crash.

"He's awake!" A nearby voice said and I turned and caught a hint of movement in the darkness. A saw light coming from the other side of the room and then a couple of girls walked in with weapons ready.

Hunters.

"Now that you are awake, it's time you answered our questions!" the tallest one said, she appeared to be the leader.

"Um...okay?" I said unsure of what questions they'd even be asking me.

"How did you get in here?!" she asked not dropping her glare or her dagger as she sat down across from me.

"Front door." I said and no one laughed "Wow, am I just universally not funny? Don't answer that please. Artemis let me in." I said and the girls all muttered and looked at each other.

The leader held her hand up and they grew silent as she stared at me.

"Next question, why are you here?"

"Again, Artemis. She tasked me with killing Lycaons wolves in the caves." I said and explained everything from the car wreck to me passing out in the cave.

"Final question...how did you tame Silas?" she asked and all of the Hunters leaned in to hear my answer but, I just frowned in confusion.

"Silas?" I asked and the Hunter pointed to my left and I looked to see a grey wolf curled up right next to me sleeping soundly.

"We found him dragging you through the caves towards our hidden rooms. He is the only reason you are not dead and being eaten by those monsters out there." she explained and I nodded.

"You know I get that whole 'He's the only reason you aren't dead right now' thing a lot. Anyway, to answer your question I have no idea!" I said as Silas perked up and snuggled closer with a small whimper, instinctively I started stroking his fur.

"He hasn't been this calm since Anya died, are they related?" a Hunter asked curiously.

"Wait...Anya?" I asked and they nodded.

"Silas was Anyas wolf, they had a very strong bond but she-" she started.

"-Didn't make it? She died out in the cave?" I finished and the Hunters nodded as I saw my dagger and mace nearby and pointed to them. When the leader grabbed the dagger I spoke "I found her, I was going to bring her dagger back to Artemis after I killed the wolves. Silas must have smelled her on me because of that dagger." I explained.

The leader sighed as she looked at the dagger mournfully.

"So..." I said trying to change the subject "You all are stuck here?" I asked earning eye rolls from most of them.

"This entire cave system was meant to be empty and used as a safe tunnel to the temple. We were unprepared for a large attack from the wolves. We scrambled for safety and managed to seal off this section of the caves. We've been stuck here ever since." the leader explained and I nodded.

"Well then, I think we can help each other then." I said earning confused faces "You help me kill the wolves then I earn sanctuary to rest up and you guys get your temple back. Win win!" I said.

"If this were any other circumstance I would tell you to go to Tartarus...however, the safety of my fellow Hunters overrules that. You have a deal." she said and we shook hands.

"Um, that's great and all but how are we even going to kill that many wolves? We lost the majority of our weapons during the initial attack!" one of them asked.

"I might have an idea, tell me, that stream that the wolves drink from, where does the water come from?" I asked.

"A large underground lake. Why?"

"Because we are going to flood this place." I said and explained my plan to them.

"This plan is extremely reckless!" one girl said.

"True." I said.

"He's insane!"

"Again, true."

The leader, Abigail, was thinking this plan over for a very long time.

"We would need every single one of those wolves in that cavern for this plan to work." she said.

"Which is where I come in, see I have a tendency to piss off anything that lives very easily!" I said proudly.

"What about your injuries? We ran out of Nectar and Ambrosia two days ago, what if you pass out again?" Abigail asked.

I shakily stood up and leaned against the wall for support.

"Well, unless you got a better plan, I say we risk it. Better to have me making the distraction anyway, I'm too injured to do much." I said with a smirk.

"Why are you being so nice?" one of the younger Hunters asked. That question made me actually stop and think about this, there was a time in my life where I would have sacrificed every person in this room without a second thought just to get some peace and quiet, but now?

"I've been selfish enough in my life, I'd rather be helpful than harmful. Plus my wife would absolutely kill me if she found I just left you guys to die."

That one actually got a chuckle out of a few Hunters!

"Okay Samuel, We'll do this. However if any of my girls die, I'll blame you!" Abigail said.

"I kind of figured that. Wouldn't be the Hunters I know and love without a threat against my life." I said chuckling as Silas stood up next to me and pawed for more pets, which I gave.

"Okay then." Abigail said standing up as well and handing me my mace as the rest of the Hunters ran to grab what weapons they had left.

"Our lives are in your hands Samuel." she said and I nodded before grinning widely.

"Lets kill some wolves!"
