In an unknown location
A couple days before...
A German Shepherd, a Belgian Shepherd, two Golden Retrievers, and an unknown person on a large TV monitor were in a room, meeting together for the first time of the year. These five individuals wanted the power to rule, and the person on the TV, their leader, would do anything to achieve their goal. Their identity was unknown, but the rest of the world called them, 'The Architect'.
"I will only ask this once. Do you all understand?" The Architect asked them, not willing to explain the plan again.
"I understand, but I do have one question, or concern." one of the golden retrievers replied.
"And your concern is?" The Architect asked for more information.
"There is a group of pups, they call themselves the PAW Patrol. They commit themselves to defending the world from what they consider evil, and many people have tried to defeat them, even the royal pup herself! All of them failed. What do we have that makes you think we'll get a different result?" The golden retriever asked.
"A valid concern. Fortunately, I planned ahead for this. You see, all those other villains don't have long-lived and expansive goals, they don't even want to cause harm. However, we'll be doing it differently. We'll break that PAW Patrol before they even have a chance to even attempt to succeed in stopping us." The Architect replied. "Now, do you have it ready?"
The other golden retriever, the sister of the one that had been speaking to The Architect, stood up and began replying. "Yes, Architect, it's ready for action." The retriever replied.
"Good, before we begin, anymore questions?" The Architect asked them. None of the pups stood, so they assumed that they had none. "Good, my time is valuable. Goodbye gentlemen." The Architect said before ending the call.
The four pups that sat in the room all stared at one another in silence, waiting for something to happen, but nothing ever did. They eventually all bid farewell to each other and went their separate ways, expecting that by the next time they all meet, their individual goals will be complete.
Current day...
In the town of Adventure Bay, at the lookout
Most of the pups were playing freeze tag outside while Sierra (Who's coat had returned to it's natural white colour) and Ace watched them play from a distance. Sierra didn't feel like playing with the others yet and Ace didn't want to leave her out so he decided to sit with her as she watched. Chase was obviously winning but Marshall was surprisingly getting close to catching him multiple times, but still failing.
"I can't believe you guys still train your natural talent. Life would be so much easier if you just let technology do everything for you." Sierra said, commenting on Marshall's failure to catch Chase.
"What are you thinking? Like replace us with robots?" Ace asked, curious and concerned with what her idea was.
"Not exactly, I mean like, artificial muscle and replacing some unnecessary parts with mechanical replacements." Sierra replied, explaining the advantages of artificial muscles and organs over their natural counterparts.
"Uhh... no offense, sounds amazing, but that also sounds like it'd need major surgery, and that's just a big no for me. Also, sounds like it'd hurt, a lot." Ace responded, giving her a smile to make it sound less offensive to her.
"None taken, that's one of the disadvantages. Hence why I haven't replaced mine." Sierra replied, returning the smile.
They both then heard a loud thud and looked back at the other pups to see them all in one large pile. It seemed like Marshall had collapsed into everyone, again. Sierra and Ace then walked up to them to help each of them get back up.
"I assume that's game over?" Sierra asked while helping Skye up.
"Yep! I caught everyone! Just... not in the way I was meant to..." Marshall replied, lowering his head while smiling. The other pups all laughed before hearing Ryder call them inside for breakfast.
After breakfast was over
Ace was in the elevator, descending to the basement of the lookout, holding his puppack. He had asked Sierra if she could improve his puppack so he'd be able to help his father in missions where his spy gear was needed, Sierra said sure and instructed him to bring his puppack to her room and she'd begin working on it. The elevator soon stopped at the bottom and Ace hopped out, he then began walking down the long hallway toward Sierra's room.
When he arrived at the door, which had a gear symbol on it to represent her being the inventor of the PAW Patrol, he knocked on the door and waited for a response.
"Who is it?" He heard Sierra ask.
"It's Ace, you told me to bring my puppack to you." Ace replied.
"Oh, right. Come in!" Sierra called out, Ace opened the door and entered, before giving Sierra his puppack.
Sierra began working on the puppack on a small table that was sitting in one corner of the room while Ace glanced around, waiting. Eventually, something caught his eye. It was a piece of paper that was hung up on the wall next to the door. When he examined it closer, he noticed it had 6 pups drawn on it. Marshall and Everest, Chase and Skye, and finally, Rocky and Zuma, with each group having a heart drawn around them.
"What is this?" Ace asked, curious what it was about.
"Hmm?" Sierra questioned, turning to see what he was referring to. "Oh, uhh, that. That's uhh... predictions." Sierra stuttered upon seeing what he was referring to.
Ace glanced at her, then back at the drawing. "Alright then..." Ace said, a bit confused.
Soon, Sierra informed him that it'd probably take a while to get it done and that he should probably go take a walk or something while he waited. Ace thanked her and decided that visiting the police station for a bit would be a good way to pass time, so he left her room and made a quick visit to his room, getting on his dress uniform, before heading toward the elevator. He asked Chase if he could meet him outside via his puptag.
Ace was waiting outside until Chase arrived, the shepherd walked up to him upon seeing him and asked what he needed.
"I'm going to visit the police station, see how our recruits are doing. Do you want to join me?" Ace asked the older shepherd.
Chase thought about it for a second before responding. "I guess there isn't really anything to do here right now. Sure, let me go get my uniform first though." Chase replied, walking back to the lookout.
Ace waited for a couple minutes until Chase finally returned and hopped into his truck, he then began driving toward the station, with Ace following behind in the Fuchs.
Meanwhile, in Barkingburg
A formally dressed shepherd and two golden retrievers were in an advanced lab of some sort. The two retrievers were showcasing some blueprints for a new tool that could help them accomplish their goals, but it required something the shepherd had, something important to him.
"You want my owner's old mask?" The shepherd asked them, in a tone that they could tell meant he wasn't happy with their request.
"Yes sir, I understand that it means a lot to you and the pain it caused can't be reversed. But, if we could reverse engineer it's technology, we could make duplicates, but adapted to canine faces instead of human." The male retriever replied, the shepherd was thinking hard about it. They had a point, if they could reverse engineer it, they could easily manipulate whoever they needed and accomplish their goals.
"Alright then, I'll let you two have it, on one condition!" The shepherd told them. "I want it back after you're done with it!" With that, the shepherd began walking away, leaving the advanced lab.
"Yes, sir." The retriever responded, not that the shepherd could hear him, as he had already left the room.
Back in Adventure Bay
Chase and Ace arrived at the police station and parked their vehicles outside, they then exited the vehicles and began walking up to the station.
"So, any particular reason you wanted to visit the station?" Chase asked, a bit curious as to why his son wanted to come here now. As far as he was aware, the chief didn't have any missions for them.
"Nope, I just wanted to visit our friends at the station. We haven't been here since the chief called us in to brief us of the... incident... at the theatre, and even then, we weren't here for very long." Ace replied as he reached the door of the station.
The two police pups entered the Adventure Bay Police Station and were immediately greeted by the person at the front desk. They then went toward the back of the station, where the detective pups (and the pups Chase trains) work. Upon entering the room, they saw their two friends, and a new pup; a fellow German Shepherd, a Dobermann, and a Bloodhound.
"Hey guys!" Ace greeted them, the three new(ish) pups turned their heads to the voice. The shepherd smiled upon seeing him, while the other two seemed a little surprised.
"Hello!" The shepherd greeted him back.
"Sup Ace." The Dobermann, named Magnum, greeted him. He then noticed Chase standing behind him. "Hey boss."
"Hello Mag." Chase responded, both him and Ace were a little confused at who the shepherd was, as she was clearly new at the station. "Who's the new pup?" Chase asked them, referring to the shepherd.
"My name is Artemis Gutaussehend, I recently move here from Deutschland." Artemis introduced herself, Chase was surprised that a new pup had joined the police force without him being informed, but he was happy to accept a new member, especially a fellow shepherd.
"How many missions have you been on so far?" Chase asked her, curious about how long she had been working here without him knowing.
"Only one, and it wasn't anything major." Artemis replied.
"She joined me on a response to one of humdinger's plots. Didn't work out for him, like normal." Magnum added.
Hearing Humdinger's name again after so long clearly annoyed Chase a bit. "Did you get any evidence or finally arrest him?" Chase asked him.
"No sir, he escaped back to foggybottom in the end. And he didn't leave behind any evidence the court would accept." Magnum replied, Chase was obviously more annoyed at this.
"What's the damage?" Chase asked.
"None, he didn't get to execute whatever plan he had before we chased him out of Adventure Bay." Magnum replied.
"At least he didn't cause any damage, yet." Chase whispered to himself.
"Don't worry dad, he won't." Ace told him, this confused Artemis, who wasn't aware Chase had a son.
"'Dad'?" Artemis asked, she then turned toward Chase. "I didn't know the alpha of the PAW Patrol had a son, since when did you get a mate?"
Chase was silent for a moment, still wanting to keep his and Skye's relationship secret. Luckily, Ace answered for him. "He doesn't have a mate, he adopted me a couple months after I joined the PAW Patrol." Ace replied.
Ace then began telling Artemis about the many missions him and Chase had been on, being joined shortly by Magnum, who began describing his many missions at the police station.
Meanwhile, the head detective, the Bloodhound named Hunter, was at a desk, busy going through a large stack of papers. Chase walked over to him to see if he needed any help.
"Everything going well over here?" Chase asked, glancing at the stack of papers.
"Yeah, just a bunch of reports, nothing immediately important." Hunter replied, still going through the stack of papers slowly. Chase nodded, silently signalling that he understood.
Eventually, they were done introducing one another, especially to the new pup on the police force. Chase and Ace said their goodbyes to everyone before heading out of the station and hopping into their respective vehicles, before making their way home.
Artemis and Magnum were still in the station, when they received a call from dispatch telling them to go catch a fleeing suspect in the area. They also told them that Chase would be assisting them.
"10-4" She responded to dispatch before turning to Magnum. "The Deputy and Lieutenant just left the station and then we get a call." Artemis pointed out.
"Yep, very bad timing." Magnum replied before both of them rushed outside and got into a squad car.
Meanwhile, in Barkingburg
A German Shepherd entered his penthouse, and quickly trotted over to his office. He entered the room and went to his desk, before pushing a button hidden under the desk, causing the wall behind him to open up. He turned around to see a large painting of his former owner and a mask sitting beneath it, which he picked up. Half the mask was fried from what seemed to be a type of electric shock, revealing the interior of it as a bronze colour, completely different from the white paint that still remained on the other side. There was also a large gash through the top, above the left eye. The shepherd looked back up at the painting, and began to speak.
"Goodbye John, the world may have forgotten you, but I won't." The shepherd said before pressing the button again, closing the wall, and leaving the room.
10 minutes later...
Back with Ace
Ace arrived back at the lookout and parked his vehicle. He entered the lookout and got into the elevator, ascending to the floor where all their equipment was kept and maintained. When he got there, he saw Sierra hard at work, upgrading his puppack.
"Hey Sierra, is it almost done?" Ace asked the Husky, hoping it'd be done soon.
"Just about." Sierra replied, Ace stood there, waiting for a couple minutes until finally... "Done!" Sierra exclaimed.
"So, what did you add?" Ace asked, curious.
"Well, I didn't end up adding anything to your standard puppack. I originally was planning to but I ended up just building you a new, more advanced one to use whenever you're helping the detectives or doing a Mission PAW." Sierra replied.
"Alright, what does the new one do?" Ace asked, Sierra then began telling him the features on the new puppack.
"First, It has a blacklight, to look for fingerprints and stuff. A recorder, to record audio if needed. And a small parachute. Y'know, just in case." Sierra told him. "I may add more in the future but for now, this is the equipment it has."
Ace was impressed by the new puppack. "Interesting... are you going to make the others a second puppack as well? Because only Chase, Marshall, and now me have a second one." Ace asked, curious.
"I dunno, I might make Skye one, but I can't guarantee that I'll make the others new ones." Sierra replied, she was trying not to show her favoritism toward the main three and him over the others. Even though she clearly liked them much more.
"Any ideas yet on what you'll make Skye?" Ace asked.
"Not yet." Sierra replied. Ace then began walking toward the elevator, and descending back down to the ground floor. While Sierra decided to take a look at what every puppack had, to maybe get some inspiration for what to put in Skye's second one. The elevator then began raising back up and stopped at the same floor she was on, which she didn't notice.
"Hey Sierra." Rocky greeted the Husky, Sierra was startled and jumped a couple inches off the ground from the random noise.
"Jesus Rocky, what is with everyone trying to give me cardiac arrest!?" Sierra said, almsot yelling.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." Rocky apologized, backing up and lowering his head.
Sierra immediately felt bad for yelling at the eco pup. "It's alright Rocky, what do you need?" Sierra asked.
"I was just wondering what you were doing with the puppacks." Rocky replied, looking around at all the puppacks and uniforms around the room.
"I was making Ace a second puppack to use during a Mission PAW or whenever he's helping do detective work at the police station." Sierra answered, showing Rocky the new puppack before describing all the new features on it.
"Woah, y-you built this by yourself?" Rocky asked, very impressed by her work.
"Yeah, it wasn't that difficult. The voice recorder and the small parachute was being a pain in the ass but I eventually got it working" Sierra replied, clicking a button that caused the parachute to deploy, just as she was mentioning it.
"You may be better than I am at making stuff." Rocky whispered while staring at the new puppack, stunned. "Are you making any of us new ones too?" Rocky asked, curious like always.
"Ace asked me the same question earlier, I'm not sure." Sierra replied before resuming examining the other puppacks for inspiration.
"I have to admit, you're a good inventor pup." Rocky complimented her, smiling.
"Thanks, I think I'm good at inventing as well. Though I absolutely hate maintaining the equipment I do make. I hope one day, I'll find a way to automate the maintenance process." Sierra said, looking toward the roof as she said it.
"Don't worry about that, I'll happily deal with maintaining all the equipment. I'd like if you could possibly write a manual or something on the equipment to make it easier though." Rocky responded.
"A manual huh?" Sierra questioned, thinking about it. "Alright. If you'll deal with the maintenance of the equipment, I'll happily write a short manual on the equipment for you." Sierra told him before returning to examining the other puppacks.
"Alright, thanks Sierra." Rocky thanked her before heading back toward the elevator.
"You're welcome." Sierra said quietly, So quiet that Rocky almost didn't hear her. She continued looking at the different puppacks before reaching one of Everest's spare puppacks. She looked inside of it and noticed that it wasn't very equipped, only having a board and a grappling hook. Guess I might as well upgrade Eve's puppack as well. Sierra thought to herself before she began to think about what she should give Everest.
She eventually decided to make Everest a completely new puppack entirely, instead of adding to her current one. However, she soon realized how hard it'd likely be to do that by herself, so she used her puptag to call Ryder, hoping he could help her.
That's the end of Chapter 1.
This story will likely be more OC focused than my other ones, but don't worry, the PAW Patrol will still be the main characters.
Small note: I'm being vague with the identity of the villains for now (not all of them are OCs), and I'm deciding to use more unknown or semi-forgotten characters from the show. If anyone manages to figure out who I chose, I'll honestly be impressed.
Anyway, until the next chapter, bye everyone.
