Kallen stepped off the airship into the waiting fanfair of trumpets, confetti and the virtual circus that Clovis had prepared for Lelouch's arrival. How Clovis had been put in charge of the Britannian Eden Prime colony was a absolute mystery. And now Eden Prime, otherwise known as Area 26 for the large quantities of numbers and honorary Britannians from Area two and Area Six that had settled in this Britannian colony, was a hotbed for illegal smuggling and terrorism conducted by the numbers. Indeed even the majority of Earth based Number terror groups had been supplied arms through Eden Prime smugglers.
Still the Colony was highly successful and profitable, if a bastion of corruption. If anyone other than Clovis had been in charge Eden Prime would have been purged of such corruption, or as a sad truth about the other half of the Imperial family, been driven into open rebellion. Still while the Twenty-sixes were a issue, Eden Prime was a land of dreams and opportunities for the lower cast Britannians and Honoraries. Not by any design of Clovis, but the nature of the Colony attracted farmsteaders, particularly those who cared little about rank and caste which lead to extensive mixed breeding across the colony. Nobles even publicly annouanced and hosted marriages to recently elevated Honoraries, in other words, they had fallen in love with a number and on Eden Prime were secure enough to openly marry.
Knowing that Kallen had to choke down a slightly bitter thought. She had seen her father before leaving with Lelouch, and she couldn't stop herself from questioning what life could have been, rather than looking at the husk of a man who had to destroy his own family in retribution for the cruelty they had unleashed upon him, his wife, and children for simply marrying a non-Britannian woman, just what kind of man her father could have been in a kinder galaxy. With the thought driven away Kallen noted the open cheer and generally happy people of Eden Prime, the two ironic extremes of the colony almost staring her in the face as Clovis walked up to welcome Lelouch, all while a massed crowd of Honorary Britannians and Britannian citizens cheered and fawned over the the arrival of the famed 'Dark Prince'.
"Lelouch, I'm so happy to see you've arrived. I already have a galla prepared to celebrate your arrival." The annoying pretty boy clown of a Prince stated. Of course he'd make the whole thing into a show, here she and Lelouch were coming to deal with the biggest political and scientific powderkeg dropped on Britannia's doorstep and the sleezebag wanted to waste their time flaunting his wealth on decadent displays.
"Thankyou Clovis. I'm certain Kallen and I will enjoy whatever you have prepared. Although I am sad to say that our schedule may be tight, so I will have to implore your forgiveness if we have to leave early. But this is a duty I'm performing for Father after all." Lelouch's soft gentle smile never wavered. This was of course Lelouch's fake smile, it was hard enough to tell his genuine smiles from those he fakes, but enough time with him and you can start to learn the signs.
"Oh, well, if you would like might I suggest speaking with the Camelot team, Brother Schnizel's pet project team have been eager to have someone test their technology and if we could, as the saying goes, kill two birds with one stone, I'm certain you can gain some benefits from working with them." As Clovis spoke, a picture of the white hair a glasses of the insane Earl Asplund flashed through Kallen's mind. Before she had officially become Lelouch's Knight the man had tried to poach her for one of his Knightmare prototypes, the Accolon if she remembered, and in a way Lelouch saved her life as the darn thing ended up detonating its own Energy filler upon activation due to a error in the Sakuradite-to-Element Zero linkage. Apparently the madman had just pressed on and was now trying to find someone to shove into his Lancelot.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I had promised the people a parade on your arrival." And like that the showboat turned and left soon mounting a float made in his own likeness. Kallen was frankly happy that there wasn't anyone so thespian and melodramatic in her life.
Lelouch then chuckled darkly while running his fingers through his hair. He then began to walk to the car that would take him and his Knight through the streets following after Prince Clovis like some sort of showpiece. "Clovis you fool, you were too guarded." Lelouch mocked as Kallen took her seat next to her Prince.
Kallen looked over to her Prince, seeing his fingers moving, likely working on a Omni-tool set into a stealth mode. "What about Clovis being guarded? Isn't it likely he's trying to hide his intent for the Throne, seeing as he obviously thinks were here on Schnizel's behalf."
"Not in this case. He's hiding something more, and all you need is to be able to read between the lines." Lelouch stated back as the pair sat in the vehicle, Kallen silently ensuring the attention, praise, and perverse stares of various people along their route. It continued like this all the way to the central government bureau.
The Britannian Eden Prime Colonies were designed very differently from the other nation's colonies. The colony cities of the other states stacked humanity on top of one another keeping the odd mixture of those with no use as workers, and those so rich that their distance from the surface didn't matter, all at the top of kilometers high superstructures. All of that was to preserve a maximum amount of agricultural land and open space for quarries and mines leaving only small hamlets to actually tend to these farms, mines and construction projects. Britannia however spread their colonies over a wide area, took indirect routes for mining and drilling while choosing and improving upon peak agricultural land, and then tending to the rest for private gardens or parks. This also meant the Britannian people had the most paved paths and easiest transit systems on the planet.
All of this meant that the route Clovis had their parade going through covered a very long distance, and Kallen had to endure the stares and unwanted attention of people who likely had little clue who she was, and thanks to her unfortunate choice of attire probably all assumed she was little more than Lelouch's lover, perhaps just a escort for the night even. If anything they should be assuming she was his... his bodyguard.
After far too long of just sitting quietly, trying to avoid drawing attention to the fact that Lelouch was working with an invisible Omnitool Kallen had finally had enough. "Please tell me you found something."
Next to Kallen, Lelouch smirked. "Oh now you want to know. Whatever happened to the Clovis that just was trying to hide his ambition for the throne?"
"Don't be a jerk." Kallen huffed, looking out to the crowds and found herself tempted to smile and wave as she saw a massive group of students all in Ashford uniforms holding a sign reading, 'Welcome Kallen, From the Ashfords to the Stadtfelds, we love you.'
"Alright, enough torment for my delicate little Knight." Lelouch replied with a mocking tone. Kallen could have punched him if they weren't in a public setting.
Lelouch then cleared his throat and cast a scrutinizing glance over the vehicle. "Smuggler and Terrorist arrests are up, but the number of full cells and supply cashes discovered has dropped significantly. Also, unauthorized drone flights through the areas around the dig sight, but not over the site itself have gone up significantly. Also someone leaked intelligence suggesting a Royal on Eden Prime would be meeting with E.U. representatives at the dig site. All this intel suggests that the terror cells have been building up to something. Also Clovis' Royal Guard have been doing 'sweeps' of the Number hamlets and ghettos, but they're keeping these sweeps off the records, and the guards aren't returning with any prisoners, and they have been receiving increased reprimands and scrutiny. Clovis is actively hunting for someone, my bet is that he was grooming his own little terrorist who slipped their reigns." Lelouch looked almost bored though at the end he did have somewhat of an amused smirk.
"Well why not attack us now? We're in the open, and security during a parade like this has to be a nightmare to manage." Kallen asked, almost disbelieving the claims, if it wasn't for the fact that Lelouch was the one making them.
Now Lelouch's smile was the predatory one he had whenever a challenge got his attention, but he had succeeded in something brutal that he had no right in having been able to do at all. "No, that's not what they're after. Likely the Terrorists made their plans before discovering that the 'Dark Prince of Britannia' was on his way, they planned to take Clovis at this meeting. I am almost certain to be approached by Terrorists disguised as Britannian soldiers and they will try to lead me away to kidnap me."
"How?" Kallen asked still trying to wrap her head around the logistics of such a plan.
"It's Eden Prime, everyone from the Alliance to the Chinese Federation is complaining that smugglers are stealing everything from weapons mods to full Knightmares. Getting a few passable uniforms shouldn't be that hard." Kallen's Prince answered simply.
"Should we screen the soldiers at the dig site then?" Kallen asked, her omnitool already active
"No, Clovis seems more concerned about this terrorist leader than our safety. He might not have put together their plan, and if this person wants to meet me in person so badly then why not take the bait?" Lelouch answered Kallen turning down her plan.
"What makes you think they want to meet in person?" The Royal Knight asked of her Prince
"If they wanted to kill a Royal, then there's plenty of better opportunities before the meeting with the E.U. and attacking in the middle of that meeting only invites a multinational crackdown on their organization and allies. Meanwhile Clovis' actions suggests he wants whoever this is alive as well." Lelouch then chuckled, "add in some sunk cost fallacy with the dig site infiltration and the seperate value that Prothean relics provide and Clovis must think they're probably still waiting in the dig site as one of the staff or security. So Clovis thinks he can use me as a lure to bring them out of hiding."
Kallen could feel her blood boil at that last statement. "He plans to risk your safety just to capture a terrorist?"
Lelouch shrugged before turning and waving to the crowds. "I am a rival after all. But I wonder what sort of person Clovis thinks that sacrificing a fellow Royal to capture is worthwhile is like."
"Lelouch, I can't let you..." Kallen began but her liege stopped her.
"You will be there in your Knightmare and maybe we can mix things up and invite Lloyd as well his eccentricities might help make everything all the more entertaining."
"You can't be serious." Kallen retorted in disbelief, but she grew nervous as Lelouch smiled at her. That adorable smile of amusement that promised both that Lelouch had a plan already in mind, and that Kallen wasn't going to enjoy it.
"Lord Asplund, It's such a joy to meet you once again." Kallen strained to maintain her smile, the man's detestable personality, already grating her as she could feel him appraising her like she was some hunk of equipment to be installed rather than an actual human being.
"Oh, I didn't think you enjoyed my company. So would that be masochism or sensationalism?" The man asked as his own form of greeting, clearly sensing Kallen's displeasure but taking the statement at face value.
Behind him Lloyd's assistant jumped into the conversation. "Lloyd, maybe I should give you another lecture on etiquette and how to talk to a lady properly?"
"No thank-you." The white haired mad scientist groaned back while readjusting his glasses, looking all the lart of an admonished man-child.
The blue haired, Cécile Croomy then stepped forward from behind Lloyd and with a warm and gentle smile stepped forward to Kallen before bowing slightly. "How may we be of service m'lady."
Kallen felt all the more foolish. Lelouch had insisted that she try to invite them to the dig site subtly but it already felt like she had failed in that aspect. "W-well Prince Lelouch was interested in your Lancelot project and wanted to talk to you about it in addition to seeing if Lloyd might be able to give us any insight into the Prothean Ruins technology." Kallen attempted to stay collected and smooth, but she felt like a shy child, and spoke faster than she normally would have, even fidgeted with her dress. The whole situation was embarrassing.
She was Lelouch's knight, yet now she was in the middle of some extravagant party, wearing a dress that seemed almost intent on putting her womenly features on display for the entirety of Eden Prime to see, and all this while playing the middle man to one of Lelouch's schemes.
"Well Xenoarcheology isn't one of my fields of expertise. But I have dabbled a little bit into it. Should I be joining little Lulu for his meeting with the E.U. or heading out after?" Lloyd's smile gave away that he too must have been interested in the Prothean ruins, though his pet name for Lelouch caused Kallen to bristle at the idea of Lloyd calling her Prince 'Lulu' when he hadn't earned the right.
"During the meeting." Kallen blurted at the man who in turn let out a small cheer and smirked.
"We will be pleased to meet his highness there. " Ms. Croomy then stated, before grabbing Lloyd by the ear, and allowing Kallen to escape the self proclaimed sociopath's attention.
Kallen then hurriedly began making her way across Clovis's stupid gala. The floor filled with masked nobles who all clearly knew who each other were despite the masks, and whom she wouldn't have recognized even without their masks. As she traveled she came by a waiter offering Champagne, which Kallen gladly took a glass, drinking it to wash away the feeling of her encounter with Lloyd.
After a minute of walking she finally found her Prince, surrounded by a number of young noblewomen. 'Bunch of unworthy wenches. You could at least be useful for something in your lives, instead of tittering about, like vapid little birds.' A part of Kallen's mind growled. Still Kallen steeled herself and provided her best smile from her etiquette classes.
"If you will pardon me ladies, my Lord has some news concerning his negotiations he really must hear." Kallen made her most polite interruption while trying to step forward through the crowd of young heiresses.
"Oh my apologies, you serve the Prince? Just give us a moment more m'lady and we'll be out of your way." The other girl looked a little younger than Kallen, her smile, and the way her eyes judged and dismissed Kallen giving away her actual feelings on the matter. If Kallen had her sword she would have tried to challenge the wench for daring to look down on her, a Royal Knight.
However instead Kallen's honor, if not her sense of self respect, was saved by none other than Lelouch himself. "Kallen, my knight, I see that dress doesn't limit your mobility in any way. How goes the mission I gave you?"
Based on the giggles coming from these women at her expense, Kallen was almost certain her face was as red as her hair. "They are willing to join us at the site. Now if you'll excuse..."
"Running away? I thought my Knight had more courage than that." Lelouch was taunting her, poking for the sake of it. Kallen knew that, and yet.
"I am perfectly fine sir." She snapped back, forcing her way through the crowd of noble girls before taking her rightful spot beside her Prince to guard him from any and all threats. She might not have her sword, but she did have one of the best shield emitters on the market hidden under her dress and of course a hidden holster with a pair of pistols at the ready. She was much better with a knife or her sword but the pistols would make due for the gala.
Still it felt like she was on display for the more elegantly dressed noblewomen around her. Thankfully Kallen's didn't have to endure the presence of these women for long before Lelouch finished his pleasantries with the noble ladies and they were shooed away to allow some uniformed men and women to approach the Prince.
The first was introduced as General Bartley, a rotund man who seemed more in place playing the villain in some child's cartoon about colorful animals saving the world, or behind a desk at a military college talking theories rather than putting anything into practice. "Prince Lelouch, I implore you to reconsider the location of the meeting. You're already on Eden Prime why not just meet the E.U.'s representative over a conference call, there's no need to draw undo military attention to the Dig site, after all we're trying to prevent an accident not cause one."
Besides General Bartley, there was Lord Kewell a lesser noble with light brown hair and blue eyes. "Prince Lelouch, at very least allow us to reorganize the garrison at the site. Simply stated there are too many untrustworthy Honoraries and even Numbers at the garrison, and not enough loyal Britannian soldiery for us to respond should anything happen."
At this Lelouch raised his eyebrow. "So you're accusing Clovis of staffing his military with traitors?"
However before Kewell could respond, and with something approaching the same nervousness Kallen herself felt whenever she feared Lelouch's emotions were getting the better of him, the Dark skinned and silver hair Dame opposite of Kewell stepped in. "We do have legitimate concerns with the site security, for years now the Alliance has served as a loophole for dissidents to enter into military service, even getting into our own military through training and tours with the Alliance military while claiming to be from the Britannian Army, and the Auxiliary forces here on Eden Prime have fallen short of screening standards for years as well."
'Saying it like that means this wasn't what Kewell's intent was. Also you can be accused of trying to defame Prince Clovis with such statements.' Kallen thought to herself feeling a small measure of pitty for the stylish and clearly intelligent and loyal Dame. However Lelouch's mind still worked in ways that were mysterious to Kallen. "Well then M'lady..." Lelouch paused allowing the other to introduce herself.
"Villetta Nu, your highness."
"... Nu. But seeing as I lack the time to entirely reorganize the security forces or change the venue to this event what would you suggest I do about this problem without implying to the Europeans that on top of trying to delay their every effort to drain this planet dry for the profits of their countries back on Earth I am also thinking of seizing the Prothean relics by force?" Lelouch laid out the question to Kewell and Villetta, Kallen suspected because he was testing the pair. Though with Bartley, Clovis' close supporter present, he was likely holding back both his opinions and from saying anything that could give away his plans.
"The Pureists can replace the entire guard in under an hour, the biggest hold up would be those traitors and lessers incapable of understanding what's going on." Kewell blurted as an answer his passionate delivery underscored by the clear racism he implied and the scowl cast nearly unnoticed by Villetta. 'Perhaps she sides with them simply for political reasons and isn't as short sighted.' Kallen noted while observing.
"Hmm that is a suggestion. Lord Kewell, perhaps we should make these arrangements privately. After all if the corruption is as rampant as you claim, we can't allow a sympathiser or traitor lingering in this party to give the terrorists a warning before our arrival." Lelouch stated encouraging the man who seemed to delight at the statement, probably thinking that he had finally found a like-minded Royal.
"Then by your leave, we have a side room prepared for meetings." Bartley bowed then pointed to the room in question.
Kallen led her Prince and the Purist pair into the room, and all four took the time to sweep for any potential bugs. The room was a simple office, one desk, and two small couches. Lelouch hadn't even properly sat at the desk before Kewell began. "My Prince, one we clear the Prothean site Garrison of the traitors, and your mission is complete. Might I implore you for your air in clearing Eden Prime of..."
"Your plan is too risky to implement as is, Lord Kewell. Besides giving away that we know the terrorists plan to them, we could end up sparking an open revolt by their supporters. And what you're asking me now is that I act against my brother who is the viceroy of this colony." Lelouch stated flatly while locking his intense stare onto the man.
Then Lelouch continued. "Villetta can you think of an alternative to Kewell's childish attempt to use me to gain power?"
The other woman looked shocked, and like a deer in the spotlight she froze for several seconds before collecting herself. "If we want to keep ourselves hidden, we should only replace a portion of the garrison, and have the rest of the Purebloods placed under your command secretly, your Highness. Have us set up outside the area. When the terrorists make their move we will be there to aid your guards and be able to sweep in to secure the site."
At this Lelouch nodded, and in reflection Kallen found herself amazed. 'Does Lelouch plan to use these purist racists as his scapegoat and use both them and the Terrorists to achieve the mission given to him by the Emperor at the same time?' Still she cast an analytical eye over the pair seeing both Kewell's suppressed outrage, and Villetta's poorly hidden urge to succeed.
"What do you have at your disposal?" Lelouch asked, and if Kallen was correct he probably already knew the answer.
Kewell then spoke, eagerly trying to compete with his own subordinate for Lelouch's favor. "We have thirty Knightmares with devicers, and over one hundred men-at-arms and Knighted infantry with M29 Grizzly transports that we can have in position and at your command within the hour."
Lelouch then smirked. "Good, Villetta, contact the Knight in charge of my Royal Guard. " Mistakenly Villetta looked over to Kallen who tried to silently deny her assumption. "Jeremiah will be happy to work with you again, you two can coordinate which portions of the Garrison should be replaced, by whom and coordinate security codes."
'How does Villetta know Jeremiah?' Kallen thought while trying to reevaluate the other woman in the room.
"Kewell, You'll take command of the reserve troops and Knightmares. Hopefully we can keep anything from happening. But if anything goes wrong you're going to be our rescue." Lelouch then commanded, and Kallen could see the contemplation followed by eager acceptance on Kewell's face. 'Well that confirms that almost everyone expects something extra is about to go down, but whose behind the plot then? The Purists, Clovis, Schnizel... or someone else.' Kallen noted.
"Kallen, I think it's time to change and leave, though if you want to give the E.U. a show." Lelouch began teasing Kallen all the while.
"No, get me out of this dress, Citadel styles are not my thing." Kallen too eagerly responded.
"Kewell, I expect to receive a positive update in one hour from now. Times closing, there's no question the Alliance or the Citadel will try to force the issue if we take too long." Lelouch then stated, and honestly Kallen was a little surprised, she didn't think either would be that bold to try and steal such a huge scientific discovery from right under the E.U. and Britannia but it certainly would be one of the biggest power plays of the century and would guarantee the Federated Systems Alliance a dominant position over humanity in the future.
Lelouch smirked as he rode in Clovis' personal transport, the vehicle was too gaudy and vain to be called a car or limo. Surrounding the transport were four Gloucester Knightmares, the newest model of main production Knightmares that had recently been added to military production. Thankfully Cornelia favored Lelouch and ensured that he also was given nearly a dozen of the machines the moment they moved into mass production from the testing phase. Each of his, though, were painted Black, with the exception of course with the singular Red Knightmare gifted to his Knight of Honor.
Once the small convoy transporting Lelouch to the dig site arrived, Jeremiah and Villetta were both waiting along with a guard force that looked to be a mixture of the garrison, the Purist replacements and Lelouch's own Royal Guards. Beyond them he could also see a number of armored E.U. and Alliance soldiers and of course the agreed upon, four Knightmares from both respective groups. Four Panzer-Hummels, though the fourth seemed to be a variant that Lelouch couldn't immediately identify from where he was, stood ready to protect E.U. interests. Separately Two Panzer-Hummels, a Gekka, and Turian made Phatron-Talon. The Alliance and Citadel were certainly fighting to keep technical parity with Britannia when it came to Knightmare technology.
Of course Lelouch couldn't see any of the other Alliance nor E.U. representatives, they were likely all early and waiting for him. Lelouch of course didn't intend to keep them waiting any longer than was necessary for his plan. Once the transport pulled up Lelouch stepped out of the display chamber Clovis called a 'seat' and was met by Jeremiah and Villetta bowing. "Welcome your Highness." Both said together.
"Thank you. Now where is the research team?" Lelouch asked, and Jeremiah gestured behind himself to what Lelouch could only describe as a colorful assortment of characters. The first was Lloyd and Cécile whom of course Lelouch had invited. Next was a man who looked more like a drug addict than a scientist with a blue haired woman who seemed as much his minder as she looked like a scientist. After them was man who almost looked the part of a priest with black flowing robes though his badge showed him wearing more traditional scientific gear in the accompanying photograph, and alongside him a green haired woman whose hair was done in a bun and who looked more like she was dressed for a buisness meeting than field work.
The last woman then stepped forward and gave a bow. "My Prince, I am Doctor Catherine Crow, head researcher at this site. I was hoping you could help me with a problem."
"I'm sorry, but I'm here to negotiate with the E.U. unless your problem concerns them it will have to wait." Lelouch answered ready to walk past the woman.
"Actually it does. I was hoping to make you my coconspirator in a plan I concocted. Research suggests that the Protheans possessed means of transferring data from one mind to another, Lloyd has a device that should allow us to copy the data inside the Prothean beacon and then transmit it into a living mind. But the E.U. wont let us near the Beacon without knowing what we intend to do. So might I propose a deal with you m'lord. Help me acquire our copy of that data and I will share with you the exclusive results of my research." The woman offered while adjusting her glasses.
If this was the terrorists trap it was a very well planned one, and likely they incorporated Lloyd's own technology into the plan to give an air of legitimacy. Either way the clandestine nature of it all was the tell, what a better way to lure a Britannian noble off on his own than some clandestine scheme to spite the Alliance and Europeans. Lelouch smiled. "I accept your proposal Dr. Crow."
Both Lelouch and the likely fake scientist reach out to shake hands. "Ouch!" Both Lelouch and Dr. Crow snapped their hands back from the handshake.
Over protective Jeremiah leapt to Lelouch's side checking Lelouch's hand while the Dr. Nursed her own. "My Prince." Jeremiah almost shouted looking over Lelouch's hand.
"Damn static, I'm sorry my Prince some of the equipment has been causing a bit of a static charge to build up, and I honestly haven't touched anyone since I was last in my lab." The doctor. offered as an excuse. A very well thought out one, but Lelouch would have to make sure his omnitool was running a diagnostic check, and he'd have to run his custom de-worming software as well. There was also the possibility of a slow acting agent, but that was incredibly unlikely as it would put the potential terrorists entire operation at risk.
"I'm sure everything is fine. Now we have negotiations to attend. Doctor Crow, you will assist me in distracting the Alliance and E.U. Lloyd, will your device work?" Lelouch answered.
"Of course, I just need to get my omnitool in range and it'll suck all that juicy dats right out of the beacon." Lloyd boasted, his eagerness a little too blatant.
"Then let's begin."

Knightmare Frames:
While first introduced into combat during the Continuation War the mechanized combat unit known as the Knightmare frame first began its first developmental steps nearly a century before humanity made first contact with the wider galaxy. The first designs were nothing more than a specialized ejection system with rudimentary legs to assist pilots and crews of conventional vehicles in escaping hostile scenarios.
It wasn't until just before the First Contact between humanity and the Turians when the first Knightmare gained popular attention thanks to it's test pilot Marianne 'the flash' who also became the Beitannian Empress through her marriage of the Britannian Emperor. However it was the Ashford foundation's royalties that then stifled Knightmare development and it took until the Continuation war before a mass produced model could be reasonably fielded, if in small numbers, by the Britannian military.
Following the end of the Continuation War and the subsequent assassination of Empress Marianne, and the fall of the Ashford foundation that the proliferation of Knightmare technology could begin in earnest. Since then Knightmares have been steadily growing in popularity across the galaxy with proponents of the weapon platform citing the light weight and mobile nature of the machines and praising the versatility the Knightmares possess, both with potential armaments and battlefield roles they perform, though critics judge the unit's lack of durability and inability to maximize performance for specific roles as a severe issue.
Codex Entry:
Phatron-Talon
Manufactured by the Turian Hierarchy's Armax Arsenal, the Phatrin-Talon is listed as a Fifth-Generation Knightmare Frame and the first Knightmare produced by the Turnian Hierarchy. Despite having a three year run, the Knightmare was ultimately considered a failure due to prohibitive manufacturing costs and a design too focused on specific technological innovations.
The Phatron-Talon was designed to create an expressly Turian Knightmare utilizing technologies predominant in Citadel Space. With such a philosophy in mind the Phatron-Talon was manufactured with a large Element Zero core, and utilizing thrusters the machine is able to leap great bounds typically able to achieve heights higher than a Knightmare equipped with Slash Harkens. The Frame is also capable of superior acceleration and a higher top speed going in any direction compared to a standard Knightmare while weighing half as much as the standard Knightmare. The Shield emitters are also much more powerful on a Phatron-Talon.
These positives are offset however not only by the cost of the machine, but also its lack of sufficient armor to survive sustained infantry fire with its shields down, and the lack of weaponry. The Phatron-Talon was only equipped with a singular Mass accelerator cannon taken from the mainstay Turian Starfighters, and a heavy anti-infantry mass accelerator, the unit also lacks the seen as unnecessary Slash-Harkins, and was not designed to engage in close quarters combat instead relying on sustained long range fire from multiple units to overcome opponents. A tactic made difficult to implement with the selling point of lightweight portability suggesting the unit could be deployed as support units from Frigates, and the prohibitive manufacturing cost due to the large Element Zero Core. By the end of 2183 CE the Turian Hierarchy plans to have replaced every Phatron-Talon with their new Solan-Claw, and Knightmares derived from the Solan-Claw design.
Reviews:
A.N. those who know me know I like to interact share insights etc. So yay for that jazz and here we go.
Imperial warlord: Thankyou, however I sort of cheated which allowed me to focus my energies then on thinking of how to change things from the default game version of events.
markkos: Yup, though gotta question how much of this is "blame Hitler for our actions/failures" vs what he actually did ot ordered. And acode Geass and Mass Effect both lend themselves very well to a Franchise mesh so long as some certain criteria are met, for example you can't have north America be the absolute good guys with no exceptions and expect to mesh well with Code Geass, and you can't have Star Trek levels of "oh i just snap my fingers and whatever i need is made by AI by rewriting physics entirely for me" and expect a good mesh with Mass Effect. But for the Balancing, not sure what you mean there, because Verse vs Verse Knightmares are/were (fuck you season 2) actually incredibly delicate war machines perfect for combined arms warfare but certainly no do all win all especially since even the Lancelot Albion should be able to be destroyed by a Javelin equivalent scoring a direct hit, no "indestructium" armor here. While Mass Effect... well street thugs are somehow better shielded and better tech'd than a human N7 elite (i know that's just RPG gameplay but that they can even be considered a challenge at any point shows how little gap there is from what's available to civilians and merce and from the majority of special foeces in that setting. And as for in story, well, if a small subfaction of Geth with a single crazy Spectre could do that much damage to the citadel... or Cerberus be nearly the pain in the ass they were its not going to be too hard to find or create the conditions to level the playing field.
Coment9: Yeah the original I quit a long time ago and on reflection I really didn't like it, but still liked parts of it, so I figured I'd start from scratch and held on for a little extra so i could review the first before I did away with it.
