Chapter 6: I miss him
It was a beautiful day in Brighton. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the kids were outside. Everything was perfect. It was warm and beautiful saturday, the time people could relax from work and school.
Molly and Scratch were walking down the street wondering what to do this weekend.
''Soooo any plans for today bestie?'' Molly asked with a big smile.
''Well I was planning to spend the day sleeping, but you didn't stop bothering me to come with you.'' Scratch said with grumpy face.
Molly got little annoyed by this. She knew Scratch didn't like to be outside, but she couldn't just let him spend his entire afterlife being isolated and alone.
''Oh come on Scratch you sleep all the time! Don't you wanna spend some time with your best friend?''
''Huhhhhhhhh... Alright kid, what do you wanna do?''
''Mhhhhhhh. Let's go to the park!''
''Well ok, if you say so.''
After this they went to the park. Molly was so joyful and happy. Scratch loved her that way, but he never understood how she was aways so joyful. Yeah she was just this type of kid, but her whole life she moved losing alot of friends and when the McGees moved here, Scratch made everything possible to kick them out. Now when he thought about that, he was feeling very sad. How could he try that? And why Molly was still wanting to be his friend when he told her multiple times he doesn't want to be her friend. Well none of that matters now, because he sees the McGees as his family now. With time he realized how misarable and sad he was, but this is all in the past. And now he even have a best friend. He was happy and proud Molly is his best friend.

They wayed on the grass, feeling the bright sun.
''Ahhhhh, isn't this beatiful Scratch?''
''Well maybe'' Scratch said giving a little smile.
''It's way better that sleeping the whole day right?'' Molly asked with so much joy in her voice.
''Alright I'm gonna admit. It is.'' Scratch said enjoying the sun.
''YAY! I knew you would like it buddy!'' Molly said, giving Scratch a big hug.
She hugged him so tight, he couldn't breathe. Not that this was a problem (he was a ghost after all), but this still was begging for air.
''Alright Moll, please let me BREATHE!''
After this, she freed him.
''Hehe sorry buddy.''
Then Scratch noticed a hot dog stand. He couldn't even get breakfast today, because Molly didn't stop begging him to come with her outside. Then he gave a grim smile.
''Wait here Moll. I'm just gonna go grab something to eat.''
Before he could fly away, she knew what he was gonna do. So she grabbed his arm before he could go anywhere.
''Scraaaatch. What have I told you about stealing?''
Scratch was annoyed by this.
''Oh come on Moll, I'm a ghost. Nobody will even notice a couple hot dogs missing''
''No Scratch! That's still stealing! I'm just gonna go buy two. That's the right way''
Molly went to the hot dog stand. He didn't understand why she was so obedien. It was just a couple hot dogs he was gonna get for him and her. It wasn't that big of a deal. That's not the only time she did this. One day at school a random kid pushed her and insulted her because of her thai ancestry. She was broken and she was crying the whole afternoon after this incident and when Scratch learned about this, he was so mad and furious that he was ready to scare the living crap out of this kid. However she stopped him. Of course that time he didn't listen to her and the night when he learned where this kid lived, he scared him so hard, the boy was traumatized for months. Still back then he didn't understand why Molly tried to stop him.
''Here you go. A hot dog for the best friend ever'' Molly said giving a hot dog to Scratch
''Thanks Moll, but you didn't have to spend your money. I could've just take two secretly...''
''No! We are not gonna steal!''
They both enjoyed the rest of the day. Everything was perfect. When he was alone he couldn't enjoy this...
''You know Scratch, why don't we go visit Libby? I wanna see what she is doi-''
''Hey kid who are you talking to?'' A random woman approached after she noticed that for few minutes Molly was talking to nobody
Of course Scratch was invincible so the people won't see him. But he realized that sometimes when Molly is talking to him when he is invincible, that makes her look insane.
''Oh... uh... nobody!'' Molly said giving a shy smile.
''Umm... alright. You ok kid?''
''Yeah I'm fine, I'm just enjoying the day outside''
After this the woman left.
''You know Moll... maybe it will be for the best if we don't talk when we are in public''
''What? Oh Scratch I don't mind or care what people think about me. I just want to be with you.''
This is when Scratch wanted to ask something. Something he was planning to ask Molly long time ago...
''Molly... I'm happy that I'm your best friend. We spend so much time together, but... Why? Why do you want me to be you friend? When you and your family moved, I did everything possible to kick you guys out. I even sabotaged your first day at school... I never forgave myself for trying to get rid of you... But why did you still stayed with me?
Molly looked at Scratch like he asked the dumbest question ever.
''Scratch. I saw the good in you. I know you can be little grumpy sometimes, but I can see the happines in you when we are together. Even through you wanted to be alone... I couldn't just leave a lonely ghost being his entire afterlife having nobody. No matter what, you will aways be my best friend... I love you buddy. And we will never be part!'' Molly said giving Scratch another big hug.
Scratch hugged Molly back, but he knew they can't stay together.
''I love you too Moll... But you know I can't stay here.''
''Wh-what?'' Molly looked Scratch with sad eyes and confused.
That's when a buss stopped on the street next to the park. She saw the buss and knew what was about to happen.
''N-no! It can't be! Please Scratch! You can't go!'' Molly said starting to tear up.
''It's alright Moll... You know this is how it's supposed to be'' Scratch said with calm voice
That's when he freed himself from the hug and started to fly in the buss's direction. But Molly grabbed his arm and tried to stop him.
''NO! THAT'S NOT HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE!'' Molly cried out.
''Sorry Moll... I have to go now''
Once again he freed himself and went to the buss. When the ghost was about to enter the door, Molly hugged him and didn't let him go.
''NO NO NO! PLEASE SCRATCH! I'M NOTHING WITHOUT YOU! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME! I DON'T WANNA BE ALONE AGAIN! I'M BEGGING YOU PLEASE STAY WITH ME! WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE FOREVER FRIENDS! A DREAM TEAM FOR ALL ETERNITY! PLEASE SCRATCH... PLEASE'' Molly cried out.
Once again he freed himself from the hug and saw how sad and lonely Molly was. He knew was feeling bad he had to leave her, but he knew that's what he is supposed to do.
''Goodbye Molly.'' Scratch said and entered the buss.
The buss drove away and Molly was looking her best friend leaving her. Dark clouds formed and rain started to fall. It happened again. The one thing she feared the most. She was alone. She lost another friend. Who knows? Maybe she will loose Libby and Ollie next. Maybe she will never have any friends since she aways loose them.
''I'm alone... again'' Molly said with tears.
She had a complete breakdown in the middle of the street realizing she lost her forever friend.

That was the moment when she finaly loke up. She was scared and had tears in her eyes. She was having dreams about Scratch since he left. But this one really crushed her.
She saw Libby sleeping in her sleeping bag. That's when she remembered. She and Libby had a sleepover in her house. She wanted to go back to sleep, but when she thought about this long and painful dream, she couldn't hold her sadness anymore and started to cry. She tried to stop or at least to be quite as possibe because she didn't want to lake up Libby. But she loke up.
''Molly? What's wrong?'' Libby asked as she heared and saw Molly crying.
''N-nothing... E-everything is fine... I'm sorry for waking you up'' Molly said wiping away her tears.
Libby realized what was going on. She knew about Molly's dreams about Scratch. She knew, she was sad even she was smilling. Molly never talked about her feelings, but Libby knew her best friend.
''Another dream?''
When Libby asked this, Molly once again couldn't hold her tears. This was just too crushing for her. She wanted Scratch to live his life, but losing a friend was really the thing she feared the most. It has happened too many times in her life.
''Oh Molly please calm down. Everything will be fine.'' Libby said as she went to Molly's bed and hugged her.
''I'm sorry... I really want him to be happy... But I just want Scratch to come back... It's so lonely in my room since he left... Am I selfish for feeling this way?''
Molly's words broke Libby's heart. How could Molly find herself selfish?
''Molly you are not selfish. It's not selfish to miss someone. You are going through alot and I see it. I see the sadness in your eyes everyday. Even when you pretend everything is ok. Please just talk with me about this. It's normall a person to feel sad.''
Molly hugged Libby back and wanted to never let her go again.
''But what if this happen again? What if I lose Ollie? What if I lose you?''
''Molly we will aways be by your side. We will be here in Brighton. I promise you. We are not going anywhere.'' Libby said, giving Molly a friendly kiss on the cheek.
This melted Molly's heart. Even through she lost Scratch, she knew she have a family, friends and boyfriend who will aways love her.
''I love you Libby'.'' Molly said still not letting Libby go.
''I love you too Molly.'' Libby said, relived that she calmed Molly.
''Can we please stay like this?'' Molly asked. After the horrible dream she had, she didn't want to spend the night alone.
''Of course Molly. It's actually feeling pretty nice. Goodnight.''
''Goodnight Libby. We will aways be best friends.''
''Of course Molly''
They both fall asleep cuddling. However Molly had no idea that Scratch was actually death and right now was trying to find her...
