Hello everyone. I've been having a pretty fun time playing Pokemon Violet, especially the DLC. I love the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk, and I think that Blueberry Academy is pretty awesome with some neat characters and I love the Terrarium. I especially love the Blueberry Elite Four, and they were legitimately challenging when going blind for me. Granted, I'm very much a casual player, especially with me changing my team members constantly to use at level Pokemon. However, they were the strongest trainers from the entire game (haven't done coaches yet), and I really enjoyed trying to fight them.
I've been rereading Silver Nugget's Pokemon Loud Version - Sinnoh, and it got me a little inspired to try my hand at writing this story. However, I don't want to just pull directly from them, so I'm going to try a completely new opening that doesn't involve one of those episodes. I'll be upfront and state that I am going to keep this story relatively short. It may be a two-shot, three-shot or more, but I'm not making a full story. I honestly don't know how long, but we'll see. Since I don't own Loud House/Pokemon, I'm not terribly stressed. I make no money, but the joy I get from planning and writing this out is why I do it. I may need to find someone to actually work with in the future for some of my longer Pokemon ideas, but I got real life crap to figure out before then.
One last thing, I'm putting Lincoln at about the 14-15 age range along with Lacey and Crispin. Kieren is 13, while Carmine & Amarys are 16 and Drayton is 17. Also, I may be playing a little loose with some of the characters' traits and personalities to have some fun.
Welcome to Blueberry Academy: Let's Begin
Royal Woods, Michigan. A small town filled with many unique characters. From the infamous Flip who was currently scamming a family out of their hard earned money, to the group of elementary students who are straight up goths. However, one family was known for the chaos and sheer volume that comes with them. On 1216 Franklin Avenue, the Loud House, housing the infamous Loud family, a family of 2 loving parents, one son, and 10 daughters. Currently, the house was an explosion of activity as the 9 girls/young women were clamoring to pack several suitcases and bags into Vanzilla.
"We have 10 minutes before we have to leave. If you have to use the restroom, do so now!" The matriarch of the family yelled at her daughters. Rita Loud looked over her children as they piled into the van. It was a little crammed, but everyone was able to fit in comfortably as her husband got off the phone and started the van. He looked through the rearview mirror. "Head count. Leni!"
"Dad, we're meeting Leni at the airport," the blond wearing sunglasses giggled.
"Uh, Dude, we're meeting Lori at the airport," the girl wearing a purple skull t-shirt with a paperclip as an earring. Leni had an aha moment at that.
"That's Luna accounted for. Luan and Jr?"
"Unova I'm ready," Luan cheered. Groans were released from her sibling and mother while Lynn Sr. was chuckling at it.
"Times a wastin', Pops," Lynn Jr. shouted, punching the roof of the van. A glare from her father stopped her, but she didn't lose her grin.
"Let's make sure everyone is here," Lynn reprimanded good-naturally. "Lola, Lana?"
"We're ready, Dad," the twins called out. Lynn nodded. "Li-"
"I and Lily are fully prepared for our aerial vocation towards the unknown," Lisa explained bluntly. The seven-year old sighed when she saw the blank looks from her family. "We are ready to fly." Lily gave a nod from her booster seat.
"I'm ready, Dada. I can't wait to see Linky," Lily squealed happily. No longer the baby of the family, she was dressed in a black t-shirt under a lavender dress with a Charlie-Brown stripe.
"We're all excited to see Lincoln, Lilster. Now, that's every-," Lynn started before a black umbrella poked the back of his seat.
"You forgot me…again," Lucy said. Unlike her sisters, she had updated her look to now be a black tulle dress and black boots. She finished the look with a black umbrella that she had Lisa modify so it would collapse to fit in her pocket.
"I'm sorry, Lucy," Lynn Sr apologized. He had an embarrassed look as he looked at his gothic daughter.
"Sigh, let us please go. I am anxious to see Lincoln after so long," Lucy mumbled. Her comment caused muttering to spread through her siblings while Rita sent a contemplative look towards Lucy.
"Is everything ok with Lori?" She asked Lynn.
"She just wanted to let us know that she had picked up Albert and was on her way to the airport. Provided traffic isn't bad, we should actually be early," Lynn explained. He carefully backed up and took off down the road.
"That's good," Rita mumbled absentmindedly. Lynn looked at his wife and gently rested a hand on her shoulder. He did make certain to keep an eye on the road as he cruised down.
"It will be fine. Lincoln was really excited when he informed us about the invite," Lynn reassured. Rita took a deep breath and finally relaxed. She gave a grateful nod to her husband, but a frown made its way onto her face.
"I know. I'm excited to see him too, but I guess I'm just nervous," Rita started. She winced when she heard a small shriek from Lola. She turned around and saw that she spilled a little water on herself, so she relaxed. Especially as Lily handed her sister a towel to help dry herself. She frowned because it reminded her of their missing family member.
"I guess that I'm just nervous about seeing Lincoln after so long. We haven't even been in the same room as him for three years!" She exclaimed quietly. She kept a half an eye on her daughters to make certain that they didn't hear her, but the only one who was paying attention to her was Luna who was wearing a set of headphones. The rest of her daughters were semi-loudly discussing the trip.
"I know. It's been rough without Lincoln, but we've gotten through." Lynn said. A thoughtful look appeared on his face as he drifted into the exit onto the interstate. "Plus, it looks like he is growing into a fine young man while he is at Blueberry Academy." Rita's frown deepened as she thought about the academy and how it caused one of their own to be gone for three years.
It was a bizarre day for Rita. She had received a phone call while at work about how she was needed for a meeting concerning Lincoln at the elementary school. She had briefly entertained the idea that Lincoln had done something wrong, but she dismissed it pretty quickly. It was with a slightly worried look that she entered the meeting room. She blinked when she spotted two well dressed, but unfamiliar adults standing next to Principal Huggins. Lincoln was sitting nearby with an excited look on his face while he thumbed through a brochure.
"Ah, Mrs. Loud, I'm glad you could join us," Huggins announced. His words broke through Lincoln's excitement, and he finally turned to his mother. "We have some exciting news about an opportunity for Lincoln for his middle school years. I'll leave Director Cyrano and Ms. Briar to explain it to you. I've got to go to another meeting right now with the superintendent." Having said his peace, Principal Huggins exited the room with a nod at his guests.
There was a moment of silence, before the well dressed man in blue and white stepped forward. He clapped his hand to bring everyone's focus on him.
"It is a pleasure. I am Director Cyrano of the Blueberry Academy. With me is one of our senior teachers, Mrs. Briar," the man introduced. He was wearing a white suit with a black vest. Hanging around his neck was an black-and-blue scarf, and a white fedora with a blue band sat comfortably on his head. He motioned to his companion. She was dressed a little more eccentric with deep red pants, and a purple jacket over a ribbed shirt. The two hexagonal crystal earrings also stood out.
"I've never heard of Blueberry Academy," Rita interjected politely.
"You probably wouldn't have. Blueberry Academy is located in the Unova Region," Cyrano began to explain. "Which is east of the North Eastern Coast of the USA." Rita had to hold in her exclamation from meeting someone from the region.
"As you know, the Regions of the World are heavily isolated, but we are starting to talk about opening our borders to the larger world to…" Cyrano continued to explain before he suddenly stopped. There was a brief pause, before a bashful expression formed on his face. "I actually forgot why. Ms. Briar, can you explain?" Lincoln and his mother shifted uncomfortably at the awkward pause while Briar just had a knowing look at her boss' forgetfulness.
"To begin with, we should first explain why regions were so isolated," Briar started. "I'm certain that you've seen some of the stories online about the various mysteries and urban legends that are synonymous with them. How there are creature with strange powers all over the regions. Well, they are true." She left a dramatic pause as she saw her two audience members process the information.
"On our lands, there exists fascinating flora and fauna we call Pokemon. They come in many shapes and sizes and exist in harmony with humans of the Pokemon Regions. However, they are quite sensitive to pollution and have kept to the Pokemon Regions as a result. The higher ups have kept a close eye on the borders as well and aside from the migratory aquatic Pokemon, we've managed to keep Pokemon a secret with very good reason. But I think it would be better if I just showed you." She pulled out three small, red-and-white balls about the size of a golf ball. "In each of these Pokeballs are Pokemon that are commonly the first Pokemon they receive when they become trainers, which we will get to in a bit." Briar made certain to be uninterrupted as she continued her lecture. Rita briefly looked at her son and saw that he was enraptured with her speech.
She pressed something on it, and they each enlarged to be the size of a baseball. With a simple toss, all three of the balls opened midair, and in a flash of light, three small animals appeared on the ground.
The first was a green, quadrupedal animal with green bulbs around its neck. It had stubby legs, and a large green leaf extended out from the top of its head. All in all, it looked like a small dinosaur. "This is Chikorita, the Leaf Pokemon." The plant dinosaur looked around before noticing Lincoln. It tilted its head before it gave several wide, happy jumps in place. A small "aw" made its way out of Rita's mouth, but it went unheard.
The second animal was a blue, quadruped with a large fin on its head. It has black, beady eyes and orange, star-shaped gills on its cheeks, giving it an adorable look. It looked quite sleepy as it lazily looked around the room. "This is Mudkip, the Mud Fish Pokemon." It perked up as his name was called but quickly readopted his sleepy posture and curled up into a ball with its head tucked into its body.
The third animal was the one that looked the most familiar to Rita since it looked like a normal cat with a primarily black body and red stripes around its legs and face. "This is Litten, the Fire Cat Pokemon." Litten was roaming the room, sniffing the various pieces of furniture. Eventually, it got to Lincoln and started to sniff him. It seemed to like Lincoln because it put its front paws on Lincoln's leg with a big eye smile.
"Litten," it purred out with a closed-eye smile. Lincoln seemed to melt as he pet the cat Pokemon. He was surprised when it jumped onto his shoulder.
"Aren't you cute?" Lincoln asked, as it rubbed against Lincoln's cheek. "And you're so warm." The two seemed to forget each other as they cuddled together. Chikorita seemed to get jealous as it bounced up to Rita and jumped up and down with puppy dog eyes. Rita gave in to the small dinosaur and picked it up, allowing it to nuzzle her cheek. Mudkip looked at the scene with some interested eyes before it went back to sleep.
"It is good to see that you are getting along with each other," Cyrano broke the frankly adorable scene with a wide grin. "One of them may become your very own Pokemon."
"What are you talking about?" Lincoln asked. Rita nodded next to her son as she shifted Chikorita. Cyrano had a confident look on his face.
"This is something I can explain. Pokemon are naturally competitive creatures, and be it for hunting, territory or sport, they quite enjoy fighting each other. When people developed the ability to tame them, it was originally to survive against more aggressive Pokemon and an unfamiliar land, but it quickly became common for the Pokemon tamers and their Pokemon to settle disputes and prove themselves by battling each other," Cyrano passionately explained. Even the drowsy Mudkip was staring at the scatterbrained director. "Centuries later, Pokemon Tamers evolved to become Pokemon Trainers, and Pokemon Battling became an extremely popular pastime and eventual career for anyone in the Pokemon Regions. Nowadays, almost every job requires people to be able to train Pokemon for battling, construction, medicine, or security." Cyrano paused, and his passionate stance turned into a serious posture.
"This is why we are here. The climate changes happening around the world are beginning to affect the Pokemon's natural habitats which will cause issues for everyone since we work in harmony with them. The Pokemon Regions have the technology to help correct it, but we are cautious with opening our borders to the rest of the world. So the Regions had an idea: we would invite people from around the world to test the waters while we started approaching governments and the various organizations to address the climate change issues." Cyrano paused to let the information sink in. Rita noticed Lincoln had a deer in the head lamp look that quickly had her put the pieces together.
"You picked Lincoln," Rita breathed out. Briar stepped forward at this.
"Correct. For the past few months, we have had randomly selected schools all over the United States take tests to find a student with strategy, adaptability, and empathy, among other traits," Briar paused. She looked slightly frustrated at this. "Lincoln was one of several that caught our attention, but so far the other students or their parents had refused this opportunity. So we must ask, Lincoln Loud, do you want to join Blueberry Academy and become a Pokemon trainer?" Both of the foreign delegates looked expectantly at Lincoln who had continued to cuddle with the two Pokemon.
"Of course I want to go!" Lincoln exclaimed with the biggest smile on his face Rita had seen. This seemed to please the two educators as wide smiles formed on their faces. It warmed her heart to see her son this excited but…
…a sudden shake broke her from her reminiscing. Rita blinked as she saw Lily shaking her leg. She noticed that they were parked at the van and out of the corner of her eyes, she could spot her remaining daughters
"Are you ok, Mommy?" Lily asked with big puppy dog eyes.
"Everything is fine. Mommy is just a little worried about seeing your brother after so long," Rita comforted her youngest. Lily seemed to relax a little before booming laughter distracted her. Rita turned and saw the large figure of her father approaching with Lori and Bobby.
"Pop-Pop!" Lily squealed. She darted to her grandfather who was talking and hugging his various grandchildren. As Rita exited the van, she could spot Lily forcing her way through her siblings so she took the chance to grab her bag. She double checked that everything was picked up and locked the vehicle up. Having done her part, she went to join the family.
"You've all gotten so big. Especially you Lily," Albert laughed as he picked up the 4 year old. She squirmed good naturally, but quickly embraced the man in a hug. "It feels like just yesterday that I could hold you in my palm!" Lily put on a pouting face as she was put down.
"I'm not that little," she grumbled. She had a sour expression as she heard some of her siblings snicker at her embarrassment. She could see Lynn trying to get their kids under control.
"Alright girls. We need to get going or we will miss our flight," Rita announced. The girls all groaned, even Lori, but they quickly went to make certain they had everything. Rita used this moment to approach her father.
"It's good to see you, Dad," Rita said. She had to brace herself as she was pulled into a back breaking hug.
"I've missed you, Rita," Albert announced. He then pulled her away with a concerned look. "Lily said you were a little nervous about seeing Lincoln." His face was filled with concern as he looked at his daughter. Rita sighed but stood straight.
"We haven't been the best at communicating with each other. Between the girl's events, the graduations, our jobs, and Lincoln's own classes, we haven't been regularly contacting each other for months," she looked over to see that her daughters were discussing the trip and what they would see at Blueberry Academy. "Hell, Lincoln informing us about the opportunity to see him was the first time I got to talk to him in 3 months. I know he tries, and the girls try as well, but it hurts." Albert sucked in a breath at that, and he grew even more concerned when he saw the tired look on his daughter's face.
"It's been really rough without Lincoln these past years. We've put on a brave face when around others, but Lincoln helped keep order in the house more than we realized. He stopped the twin's arguments, controlled Luan's pranks, helped with Lisa's experiment, and so much more. We've gotten better, but it hasn't truly been the same without Lincoln. We've missed so much of his life because of Blueberry Academy and the pandemic. I miss him so much," Rita put her hands on her face. Albert laid a comforting hand on his daughter's shoulder.
"It will be alright. Lincoln has been talking to me as well. He's missing you as well, but he is also growing up. It may have been a little sudden, but Lincoln got to spread his wings and find himself while at Blueberry Academy. He's changed, and I think that's what you are afraid that he no longer needs you," Albert reassured. At his daughter's hesitant nod, he pulled her into another hug. "Don't worry. He's had his adventures based on what he told me, but at heart, Lincoln is the kind-hearted, supportive, slightly-lazy boy who loves his family more than anything. He's just been away for a bit, and your little boy will always need his mother." At his words, Rita started to relax.
"Thanks, Dad. I didn't know how much I needed to hear that," Rita said as the two separated.
"Mom, Pop-Pop, we're going to be late if you don't hurry up," Lynn Jr. called out.
"Alright, let's go before the girl's lose their patience," Rita said with a wide smile. Albert grinned.
"To Blueberry Academy!" Albert announced as he speed walked towards his grandchildren. He was met with cheers as he met the group. Rita smiled and began to follow them into the airport. She made certain to take a moment to pull Bobby to the side before they entered the building.
"Thank you for picking up my father, Bobby. You really didn't need to do that," Rita said.
"It's no problem Mrs. Loud. I'm just sad that I can't join you. I've missed my little bro," Bobby said with a smile.
"I'm certain that we can get Lincoln to visit or arrange a visit. It just may take a bit," Rita consoled. "We'll make certain to keep you updated."
"Thank you."
It wasn't long before everyone was situated in the plane. The Loud Family was quite surprised to see that it was a large private hydroplane. Rita watched her children from the back row with Lily next to her. Across the aisle, Lynn and Albert were conversing about fishing and camping. Rita could vaguely hear her children chattering excitedly from their seats. Lisa was sitting on the aisle seat next to the twins.
"What do you think we'll see at Blueberry Academy? Lincoln wasn't sharing too much about it the last few times we've talked," Lynn asked her sisters from the same row as Lisa. She was seated next to Luan and Leni. In the row in front of them, Lucy could barely be seen writing in her journal next to Luna who had her headphones on, but took them off at the question. From across the two, Lori looked up from her phone.
"I'm not certain. Lincoln normally would talk until he was blue in the lips about something that excites him," Luan said thoughtfully. "He mentions that the school is really advanced, and how he enjoys the classes, but I'll admit that I've not really paid too much attention after the first few calls. They seemed to blend in for me." Murmurs of agreements were stated from most of Lincoln's older sisters and Lola. Luna and the other younger sisters looked at them surprised while the adults shook their heads at their obliviousness.
"Dudes, were you really not paying attention to anything Lincoln was telling you about Blueberry Academy?" Luna spoke up. At their slightly bashful looks, Luna looked at her younger siblings. A silent conversation was communicated between them.
"I hypothesize that we should elucidate the nature of Lincoln's explanation to our sibling units," Lisa suggested. At their blank looks, she clarified. "We should explain why we are making a big deal."
"Why? Lincoln is just working on training the animals of the Regions. I don't know why it is such a big deal," Lola pointed out innocently.
"It is important because those 'animals' as you call them are the backbone for just about everything in my home," a familiar voice spoke from the back of the aisle. It was Briar in her usual outfit walking down the aisle with a wine glass.
"Ms. Briar, it is good to see you," Rita greeted. She went to shake her hand, but Briar made a motion to stay seated. The teacher made her way to the pilot's door and pulled out a foldable 3 leg chair. She made herself comfortable as the Loud Family uncomfortably watched this mostly unfamiliar lady. Finally, after a sip of her drink, Briar turned to look at the family.
"Greetings, Loud family. As Rita said, I am Ms. Briar, one of the senior teachers and researchers at Blueberry Academy as well as Lincoln Loud's primary supervisor, among other things," Briar introduced herself. An awkward silence followed this proclamation with the exception of one.
"Fascinating. What is your field of study?" Lisa asked. She was leaning over her chair as she observed her fellow researcher. Briar gave a smile at the question.
"You must be Lisa. Lincoln has told me quite a bit about you. I'm certain we'll have a lot to talk about later," Briar said, but straightened herself out. "It appears some of you are not as well informed as we expected. Now, who can tell me about Pokemon and Pokemon Trainers?"
"Lily can! Lily can!" Lily suddenly shouted, standing on her seat with her hand in the air. "Lincoln told me all about this. Pokemon are animals with superpowers such as breathing fire, freezing objects or shooting lightning. Pokemon Trainers are people who capture and train Pokemon to be strong friends."
"There's no way that is true, especially that last part," Lynn Jr. scoffed. "There is no way that Stincoln would be able to do that."
"Lily is absolutely correct. Lincoln is doing quite well as a Pokemon trainer at Blueberry Academy," Briar revealed. At the incredulous looks, Briar just chuckled. "You'll see what I mean soon. However, I believe a demonstration with a familiar face is necessary." Briar pulled out a familiar ball and tossed it in the air.
"Chikorita!" A happy plant-dinosaur cried as it materialized in a burst of energy. The sisters as a whole awed at it, but it ignored them. Instead, the moment it saw Rita, it bounced straight to her, dodging an excited Lola and Lana with ease, and jumped straight into the surprised mother's lap.
"It's good to see you again," Rita softly greeted the Pokemon, petting its head. Chikorita gave an eye smile as it cuddled into Rita's lap.
"It's so cute!" Lily squealed approaching the dinosaur. Chikorita shied away from the attention. Rita placed a gentle hand on Chikorita's head to calm it.
"Now, Lily, you must remember that Chikorita has feelings too. Let her come to you," Rita gently said. Lily backed up.
"I'm sorry, Chikorita," Lily whispered. Chikorita cautiously sniffed the young girl before it suddenly perked up. It squealed before it jumped to the empty part of Lily's seat and started to rub against her. Lily started giggling as Chikorita's leaf brushed against her nose. "That tickles."
"Are you certain that it is safe for Chikorita to be near Lily?" Lynn Sr. asked. Rita waved off his concerns.
"You know perfectly well that Chikorita is harmless. You should know just as much about Pokemon as I, unless you started ignoring the updates from Lincoln as well," Rita sent a pointed look at her husband who suddenly looked anywhere but near her. Beside him, Albert facepalmed silently.
"Well, there never seemed to be much new, and the girls always had something to tell him," Lynn tried to defend himself with a few of his daughters nodding along.
"Addressing this later…What is Chikorita doing here? I thought that she would have been paired with another trainer by now," Rita remarked, ignoring the jealous looks from her other daughters and the apprehensive look from her husband.
"That would normally be the case, but Chikorita has refused to work with just about anyone besides Lincoln. However, she doesn't want to be his Pokemon. The best guess was that she wanted to be with you," Briar explained. The woman took a second look at Chikorita who was happily sitting in Lily's lap, preening at the little girl's attention. "Or maybe it was someone else."
"Maybe," Rita agreed with a thoughtful look.
"Wait, what? Why would Lily get that thing?" Lori asked incredulously, causing Chikorita to shrink in on itself. Rita sent a harsh look at Lori, but that was nothing compared to Lily's response.
"Pixie is not a thing. She's an amazing Pokemon, you big meanie!" Lily screamed, hugging Chikorita close to her. Chikorita seemed to perk up at the new name. Small vines extended from the bulbs on Chikorita's neck and gently wrapped around Lily like a big hug.
"Dude, that's not cool," Luna jumped in. "You're just jealous that…"
"I think that is quite enough." Briar suddenly cut in. A cold wave emanated through the room, silencing everyone, except for Lily. Everyone turned to Briar who had her eyes closed and a frigid smile on her face. "While I am aware that a large family is likely to have disagreements, you must remember that you are guests. Further, at Blueberry Academy, being a trainer is everything, and the first thing that every trainer learns is that Pokemon are to be respected." Her eyes opened to reveal an icy gray-red that burrowed its way into each Loud member, even Lucy.
"Pokemon are wonderful creatures, but they are also dangerous. Many Pokemon are highly intelligent, and they will know when they are being mistreated or disrespected. Keep this in mind because there are Wild Pokemon at Blueberry Academy. We will try to keep you safe, but keep in mind that you are responsible for your safety first and foremost. A few of the members from the League Club have been kind enough to guide you, but I should warn you, they will not tolerate too much disobedience. You are here out of goodwill. We can and will send you back home if the need arises." Silence followed Briar's lecture as the seriousness of the situation sunk into all the Loud's heads.
"Is Lincoln not going to greet us?" Lola suddenly asked with a frown. Briar shook her head.
"He will meet you later. Currently, Lincoln has some responsibilities that prevent him from guiding you from the start. However, we can guarantee that he will be there when you make it to the Academy's pride and joy, the Terrarium. Are there any questions?" Briar cheerfully stated with no sign of her previous ice. The Loud family gave a few looks before they all raised a hand.
"Pokemon are separated into 18 types, each with their own characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses," Briar explained to Lisa who was recording everything in a small notebook. Around her, the other members of the family were either listening with half an ear or had dozed off. Lily in particular was curled up next to Chikorita. "Each Pokemon has one or two types that can change through different means such as evolution, abilities or Terastilizing."
"What is Terastilizing?" Luna asked. Aside from Lola and Lucy, she was the only other Loud Sister truly paying attention.
"Terastilization is a mysterious phenomenon that causes Pokemon to change type to any of the 18 types. This provides great advantages as it can make Pokemon moves stronger, change their defenses, and disrupt opponent's strategies. That is actually what I've been studying, and you'll see some great examples at Blueberry Academy," Briar happily explained with a clap. Before she could answer any further questions, a crackling sound interrupted her and startled the Loud Family members who were dozing off. Albert almost fell out of his seat as the noise woke him from his nap.
"This is your captain speaking. We are approaching Blueberry Academy. Please take your seats and fasten your seatbelts," the speakers suddenly announced.
"That's my cue. I'll meet you outside after we've landed. I hope you have a good time here," Briar said, exiting the seating area. The Louds were barely paying attention as they all took the chance to look out the windows.
"Wow!" was the shared exclamation of everyone as they got their first look at the school.
"It's so pretty, Pixie!" A wide awake Lily cheered as she looked down. Blueberry Academy cut a majestic view as the plane glided towards it. At first glance, it appeared to be nothing but a long walkway with a central bulb in the center where an arena of sorts was located. However, as the plane cut in front of the sun, the glare from the ocean receded to reveal that there was another structure sitting underneath the first.
"Blueberry Academy as we know it was completed 20 years ago under the leadership of Director Cyrano. Originally located in Castelia City, Cyrano wanted to give up-and-coming Pokemon trainers a chance to explore training Pokemon without the distractions of the busy city," Briar's voice echoes through the room. "His solution, create a floating school where everything needed for students to learn and grow. Now, Blueberry Academy is the largest Pokemon school in the Unova Region." Just as the plane touched down, Briar said one last thing.
"Welcome to Blueberry Academy."
Chapter End
I hope you liked the introduction. I didn't want to take 5 chapters to get to the Pokemon regions, but I also wanted to do something that wasn't "Albert having a massive connection to these completely unknown regions filled with mystical creatures while said connections are willing to expend a large amount of money to bring a stranger (and eventually said stranger's friends) to their country to assist in their research." While I can suspend my disbelief when reading, I personally couldn't do the same. Instead, I decided to have the actual people who are in charge of preparing new trainers be seeking people who aren't literal countries away be how Lincoln gets introduced to Pokemon and travels to the Pokemon Region. That is, Lincoln basically got scouted to be a bridge between the US and Unova without a bad episode coloring the start. It helps that Lincoln's heading to a school to learn, and not a Region to travel.
Further, I wanted to use an outsider's view of Rita before we shift into Lincoln's point of view. This is primarily because events needed to take place before Lincoln could retake the main character role. It also helps that Rita is very much processing events so we got to see a few of her thoughts on Lincoln's trip. Eventually, I may add some one-shots or create a one-shot series related to Lincoln's Blueberry Academy Adventures, but I want to look at Lincoln after he had developed into a strong trainer and not just repeat the events of the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk.
Before I end, I need to make a bit of a warning/explanation. When I first got this idea, I had just finished the Teal Mask, and we barely knew anything about Blueberry Academy. However, I loved the Momotaro inspiration, and I had just finished watching Avataro Sentai Donbrothers (which is my favorite Sentai Series so far). As a result, I basically replaced the player character with a Blueberry Student Lincoln who had a few months experience. As a result, 14 out of his 15 Pokemon that Lincoln has (that will not change) is based or named after a Pokemon that I feel would correspond to that specific character from the series. 4 should be obvious, but I am curious to see if anyone can guess the other Pokemon I picked and which character they are named after. You know what, I'll let the first 3 people who can guess the Pokemon and Donbrother names of 3 of the non-obvious ones (so no Ogerpon and the like. Too obvious) pick a Kitakami, Terrarium or Unova Pokemon to join Lincoln's team within reason (no legendaries). Bonus, if you can give me a Super Sentai or Kamen Rider character to name after that would be fun.
Last thing, I know I am being a little hard on half of the Loud family, but I'm not doing it to be malicious. Lincoln didn't really hide any of his experiences or reasons for being at Blueberry Academy, but well, when you have 2 parents and 10 sisters that have a busy schedule, it tends to get skewed towards the larger family updating Lincoln rather than the other way around. Lincoln tried and his family did as well, (some better than others), but they just naturally fell out of touch when they had important things to worry about. As to why they don't feel really guilty… pride with a hint of obliviousness and being in an unfamiliar environment.
