Chapter 3 and the first example of Pokemon Battles in this world. I do want to state that I will be doing a mix of single and double battles. While in game, its all BB Academy uses, this is not the game, so I'm stopping any ideas immediately. I will also state that I keep audience reactions to a minimum. I find it ridiculous when you basically pause the fight to continually state how impressed someone is or explain things to the uninitiated. Most of you should be more than familiar with Pokemon, so I refuse to do more than necessary. That means, I'm not going to explain common knowledge, point out type advantages/disadvantages, etc.
Further, I'll use facts from the games, but I don't follow game logic when I write battles. Unless I could give a physical reason towards why a move has a secondary effect, it will not be included. Like Chilling Water will decrease physical attack because . Lastly, I use 6 to 8 moves for each Pokemon. Gives more options without being overwhelming.
Let's get into the first battle between Don Momotaro and Carmine. So get excited! It's a Festival!
A Festive Fight! Don Momotaro vs. Carmine! - Let's begin
"HAHAHAHA! Hey, hey, hey! It's a festival! It's a festival, everyone! Passing by each other can form a bond! The earth you step on becomes part of that bond! So dance and sing together to tighten those bonds! The world becomes a paradise! Just blow your troubles away and laugh! Laugh with me! HAHAHAHAHA!" Momotaro called out, easily understood despite the mask. The crowd laughed or cheered with a few students dancing along to the music. Back with the Louds, they were a little speechless. Well, most of them were.
"That's how you make an entrance!" Luna shouted as she clapped to the music. Lily was copying her sister, though she was a little clumsy. Pixie was doing a little better with her hopping to the beat.
"Yeah, I should take notes. Is anyone getting a recording?" Luan asked semi-seriously. Lacey gave an affirmative. She had a floating phone in a fairy case facing the battlefield. Or at least that was the case before Meloetta grabbed it. She started floating around the battlefield trying different angles. Luan was stunned at that.
"He's too bright," Lucy complained, hiding herself with her umbrella. "That's Momotaro?"
Lacey, Crispin and the Pokemon chuckled as they looked at the dumbfounded looks. Lacey was the one to answer.
"The Don is like that when there's a battle he is excited for. He's quite the showman when battling. He's a lot different after the battle is done," Lacey explained.
"What's with the dorky mask?" Lynn asked.
"The Don wears that for deliveries. It's to help keep things out of his face when he's traveling around the Terrarium. It was a gift from some people he met when he went on the Kitakami field trip two years ago. He's very protective of it." Crispin explained. There were some confused looks, but they couldn't go any further because Cyrano began to speak again. Looking back at the field, Momotaro had returned his mount and was facing Carmine.
"By request, this will be a 3 vs. 3 Single Pokemon Battle. Trainers will be allowed to substitute at any time and there is no move limit! Are both trainers ready?" Cyrano asked.
"I'm ready," Carmine declared, holding up a Pokeball.
"Let's fight, my Companion!" Momotaro mimicked. His Pokeball was a dark solid crimson. At closer inspection, Momotaro was also very tall, standing a little over 6 feet.
"Then let the battle begin!" Cyrano declared, swinging his free hand into the air.
"The strongest one there is! Don Torabolt/Come on out, Chesnaught!" The two trainers announced. On Don Momotaro's side, a red and black-striped humanoid cat with a belt made of flames appeared. It cracked his neck as it looked at his opponent. Carmine sent out a light brown, armored Pokemon with spikes on several points of its body.
"Chesnaught, use Hammer Arm!" Chesnaught started to rush towards Torabolt with his arms glowing a bright white. He swung his arms downward towards his foe's head.
"Bulk Up! Catch them!" Torabolt's upper body became briefly covered in flames, expanding his muscles. He quickly brought his hands up and caught the Spiny Armor Pokemon's arm. A shockwave was released from the impact, ruffling the two trainer's clothes and causing Cyrano to have to hold his hat. Torabolt had a wide grin as his opponent tried to break from his grip. "Flamethrower!" The fire on his belt started to flare up and condense near the center.
"Try Spiky Shield. Get out of there!" Carmine cried out worriedly. Chesnaught's arms glowed green and spikes grew out of them, causing Incineroar to release the Pokemon. The spikes formed into two half shields that he started to bring forward. Unfortunately, he was a little too slow, and the Flamethrower attack managed to get through for a few moments. While blocking the attack, Chesnaught used the moment to back away from Incineroar. "Chesnaught! Are you all right!" Carmine asked when the attack let up.
The spiky Pokemon sent a thumbs up at his trainer. "Ches," Chesnaught called.
"Great. Let's try Seed Bomb!" Chesnaught grinned as he opened his mouth. Glowing seeds were launched from it towards Incineroar's feet. Torabolt tried to jump over them, but they exploded as soon as they hit the ground, causing a cloud of dust to form around the Heel Pokemon.
"Very good, my Companion, but it's not over yet!" Momotaro said. He clapped his hand and stomped his foot forward and made a dramatic motion with the opposite hand. "Go, Don Torabolt. Let your Temper's Flare!"
"Incineroar!" Torabolt cried as he rocketed out of the cloud. His body was clad in angry flames.
"Earthquake!" Carmine called out. Chesnaught stomped its foot onto the ground. The arena seemed to bulge out as a dirt wave formed from the floor and flowed towards the charging Incineroar. The two opposing forces crashed into each other with a small cloud of dust forming. When it cleared, Torabolt was literally pushing against the dirt wave and stopping it in its tracks.
"Incineroar!" Torabolt roared as it gripped the dirt. With impossible strength, he literally ripped the attack apart and continued his pace towards the shocked Chesnaught.
"Spiky Shield, Chesnaught!" Carmine desperately called out. Chesnaught started to form his shields, but he was too late. Torabolt had reached the Chesnaught and shoulder tackled the defending Pokemon. Chesnaught was launched backwards, creating a small crater where he body landed. Incineroar jumped backwards from his opponent while Chesnaught managed to get up. Incineroar was breathing lightly with some bruises forming on its body while Chesnaught was standing with some burns. Its armor kept most of the damage from becoming too much.
"Chesnaught, return. You'll get another chance," Carmine decided, returning her starter. As it was pulled into the ball, Chesnaught let out a roar towards Incineroar. She pulled out another Pokeball. "To the skies, Toucannon!" A large bird with a colorful beak appeared. It looked at Incineroar with a glare as it quickly rose several dozen feet into the air.
"Hahaha! So you are trying to keep away from Torabolt are you! Let's see how well it works! Torabolt, use Dark Pulse!" Torabolt started to form globes of darkness on each hand. He thrust them towards the airborne Pokemon. Short bursts of dark energy were launched from his hands.
"Evasive maneuvers. Put in some Bullet Seeds too," Carmine ordered. Toucannon started to fly through the sky, weaving around the attacks while firing strings of glowing seeds towards the stationary Incineroar.
"Switch to Flamethrower!" Incineroar grinned as he started releasing flames from his belt. They easily burned the seeds.
"Hyper Voice!" Carmine called, putting her hands on her ears. Toucannon took a deep breath and let out a large cry. Visible soundwaves shot out in a cone that surrounded Torabolt, stopping his attacks and causing him to fall to his knees.
"Now, Flame Charge into Brave Bird," Carmine called. While Torabolt was recovering, Toucannon shot forward covered in flames at breakneck speed. About halfway from Torabolt, the flames gave way to a blinding gold aura.
"Meet it with Darkest Lariat!" Momotaro challenged. Torabolt shook off the pain and started spinning in place with claws on fire. The two Pokemon clashed, reaching a brief stalemate before Toucannon managed to break through the attack. The flying type rammed into the spinning Pokemon's torso causing Torabolt to spin out of control. He landed in a dizzy heap while Toucannon was hovering in front of Carmine, slightly bruised but otherwise unharmed.
"How's that, Momotaro?" Carmine asked mockingly with a large grin.
"Very good. You've improved much. Return for now, Don Torabolt. You will fight again!" Don Momotaro returned his starter. He pulled out a black Pokeball with a purple chain wrapped on the top half. "Farewell to the transient world, Saru Brother!" In a flash, a black monkey with a blue face appeared. Around its head, a pinkish purple Chain was wrapped around it. It took a slouched pose in front of Momotaro with both arms on the ground and a lazy look.
Carmine face contorted into a scowl. "You really had to use that thing. You've got a lot of nerve," she growled. "Toucannon, Beak Blast!" Toucannon's beak began to glow an iridescent red.
"Fake Out! Then plan 3a," Momotaro ordered. Before he finished the sentence, Saru Bro was smacking the back of Toucannon's head, disrupting the attack. He jumped backwards with a dark grin and the chain on his head pulsing menacingly. Just as he landed, his eyes glowed a blue though nothing seemed to happen. Toucannon quickly recovered, but a purple bags formed under its eye, unseen to Carmine.
"What are you planning?" Carmine mumbled to herself. She looked around the field before shaking her head. "Worry about it later. Bullet Seed, Toucannon. Circle it."
"Tou," Toucannon grunted. He shuddered as the poison took hold, causing him to stumble slightly midair before he started firing the glowing seeds again while flying around the monkey at a greater speed than before.
"Earth Shield! Let nothing through!"
Monkidori's eyes glowed violet and a similar aura surrounded some of the clumps of dirt from the previous fights. The dirt was pulled together in a flat disk that swiftly intercepted all the seeds.
"Grr. You're tricks won't work. Hyper Voice!" Carmine called out.
"Cannon!" The bird screeched once more, blasting out sound waves towards the landlocked Saru Brother. The attack destroyed the earth shield and caused Saru to cover his ears.
"BEAK BLAST! RAM INTO HIM!" Carmine shouted at the top of her lungs. Beak glowing red, Toucannon dived towards the recovering Monkidori. Above Toucannon, a ball of psychic energy formed and started to home into the diving Pokemon. "Move faster. There's an attack behind you!" Toucannon increased his speed, his burning beak cutting through the air, but the psychic attack was gaining on him.
"It's too late! Sludge Wave!" Momotaro called out. Monkidori gave a monkey laugh as it placed both hands on its head and its chain moved above its head. From the chain, a geyser of sludge burst towards Toucannon.
"Try to dodge it! It's all or nothing!" Toucannon started to circle around the attack, just barely avoiding getting hit. However, the Sludge Wave impacted the Psychic energy and was absorbed into the attack, increasing the size of the attack and the speed of its descent. Saru Brother looked at the upcoming attacks with a smile as Toucannon flew too close to dodge fully. In the next split second, both Toucannon and the Future Sight attack collided, causing a blinding flash of heat and smoke.
"What happened?" Carmine asked as she waited for the wind to disperse. Sweat dripped from her forehead. "Toucannon, are you okay?" Flapping wings beat the smoke away, revealing Toucannon standing over a defeated Saru Brother.
"Toucannon!" It cried out triumphantly before it swayed in place. With one final shutter, it too collapsed unconscious.
"Saru Brother and Toucannon are both unable to battle. Trainers send out your next Pokemon," Cyrano declared. Cheers were thrown at this and the fantastic spectacle.
"You did amazing, Saru Brother. We'll find a new way to take on your foes," Momotaro whispered as he returned his Pokemon. He took out a third Pokeball that was pure white.
"Thank you, Toucannon. You did amazing taking on that monkey," Carmine thanked it softly. She put it away and pulled out a third Pokeball. "Hey, before we start this next round, can you explain what Saru did?" Momotaro's masked face tilted left then right before he shrugged.
"It's quite simple. Saru Brother has figured out how to do Future Sight invisibly," he explained easily. Silence followed his explanation.
"That's it?"
"That's it." Silence fell for a few seconds before…
"YOUR IMPOSSIBLE! SINISTCHA, DESTROY HIM!" Carmine screamed, as she released her final Pokemon. Despite her imposing starter and large Toucannon, Sinistcha was tiny. It was a floating teacup with a green figure sitting comfortably in it. The under one foot figure was wearing a hat made of matcha whisk on its head.
"HAHAHAHA, very well. I accept this challenge! Beauty number one, Sonogo!" Don Momotaro laughed. He even brought out a small fan which he used to point at Carmine before he released his third Pokemon. A beautiful, icy lavender fox Pokemon gracefully descended onto the battlefield. Sparkles surrounded it as nine, fluffy tails seemed to float behind her. She cried out and clouds started to gather above.
"SQUEEE!" Several female voices were heard in the arena. The loudest one was actually Lacey who looked quite embarrassed when she got herself under control, though Lola, Leni, and Lily were all looking at the Pokemon with awestruck looks. Many females were also cooing over the fox Pokemon with hearts floating around their heads.
"Looks like your fans are steadily growing," Momotaro commented to the proud fox Pokemon. Sonogo turned her face up, a smug look on her face.
"Man, those girls can scream," Carmine remarked, massaging her head. "You think that they would be used to her by now!" Momotaro shrugged.
"Sonogo's beauty is timeless. Just ask Lacey," Don Momotaro bragged.
"Leave me out of it!" Lacey called out with a large blush. Don Momotaro looked at the pink girl with Sonogo mirroring her trainer's actions.
"But you're so cute when you get flustered," Momotaro teased. Lucy seemed to perk up when Momotaro said this.
"Eh. Wrong! We're here to see Pokemon. They are the cute ones!" Lacey embarrassingly cried out. Some of the students were openly laughing at Lacey and Momotaro's interactions before Carmine's voice cut through the tension.
"Sinistcha use Scald!" A blast of hot water doused Sonogo, causing her to cry out in pain and jump away.
"Dirty trick, Carmine!" Momotaro commented without much heat. At this point, snow started to fall from the clouds above.
Carmine gave a shrug with an easygoing expression. "I mean, if you're going to leave an opening, Matcha Gatcha!" Sinistcha started spinning around, splashing scalding matcha tea around it that flew towards Sonogo.
"Aurora Veil. Then Charm," Momotaro called out. Sonogo cried out. An aurora formed around her which dispersed the Matcha before it could hit. Sonogo then pulled its tails in front of its face and started batting its eyes. Sinistcha got hearts in its eyes and started floating towards the Ninetails. Unseen, Sonogo was smirking behind its tail.
"Snap out of it, Sinistcha!" Carmine yelled out, but it was no use.
"Blizzard," the Don whispered. Sonogo let loose a gentle breath at the lovestruck Pokemon that turned into a harsh winter breeze. Within moments, Sinistcha was a solid block of ice. It floated for a few moments, before it fell straight to the ground, shattering the icy prison.
"Sinistcha!" It cried as it started floating around in pain. Carmine just puts her hand on her forehead.
"Focus and use Grassy Terrain!" Carmine demanded. This seemed to snap Sinistcha out of it, and with a cry, the field was filled with grass. Sinistcha started to glow green, and the scratches on its body started to disappear.
"Interesting. Chilling Water, rapid fire!" Forming on the tips of her tail, small balls of swirling water formed. With a wave of her tail, the orbs were launched at the floating teacup.
"Matcha Gatcha!" Carmine countered. Once more, the teacup began to spin, releasing the splashes of matcha towards the incoming attacks. They collided, destroying each other and causing the water and matcha to fall to the ground harmlessly. "Stun Spore!" Sinistcha flew above Sonogo and started releasing a yellow powder.
"Freeze Dry! Cover the field!" Sonogo took a deep breath and wave of freezing wind was released from her mouth towards the spores. The spores fell to the ground as harmless pellets, but Sinistcha was able to dodge the attack. Sonogo then directed the wind towards the field, freezing it in a matter of moments.
"Was that really necessary?" Carmine complained. She was rubbing her arms and shivering. Momotaro was unaffected by the change in temperature so he just shrugged. "Grr. Sinistcha, Phantom Force!" A mischievous look came over Sinistcha before it flew towards the ground. Right before it would hit the ground, a purple portal formed, and it flew into it.
"Prepare yourself, Sonogo! Keep moving," Momotaro warned. Sonogo started to glide around the frozen field, keeping an eye out for her opponent. Unfortunately, her fluffy tails worked against her when the portal formed between them and her hind legs. Sinistcha came flying out of it and rammed into her legs.
"Ninetails!" Sonogo yelped as she suddenly tripped and fell forward. She started to slide on the ice uncontrollably.
"Keep it up. Use Scald again!/Sonogo, use Dazzling Gleam! Break the ice." The two trainers called out at the same time. Sonogo was surrounded in a glimmering energy sphere which shattered the ice it came into contact with. Finally, she slid to a stop in a circle of cleared dirt. Unfortunately, the moment she stopped, she was once more doused with the scalding water, this time getting a few burns.
"Now, hex! Full Power!" Carmine calls out. Sinistcha lets out a massive cry and a dark aura forms around Sonogo. It wraps itself around her, forcing her to the ground. When the aura receded, Sonogo was unconscious. "We did it! Way to go, Sinistcha! Only one more to go." Sinistcha started cheering, but it was panting as it did so.
"Sonogo is unable to battle. Momotaro, please release your final Pokemon!" Cyrano announced.
"Thank you, Sonogo. You did your part beautifully," Momotaro thanked his Pokemon. He quietly returned her. "Come back out, Don Torabolt! Avenge your friends!" This time, Don Torabolt came out with a heavy thud. The temperature suddenly ramped up as he cracked his neck once more. Fire seemed to literally erupt around his feet as he glared at his opponent. The remaining ice quickly started to melt, and Sinistcha stared horrified at the terror in front of it. In its eyes, Don Torabolt was a massive monster with fire backing it.
"Flamethrower!" Momotaro immediately called out. A quick burst of flame escaped from Incineroar's belt. It jetted towards Sinistcha.
"Get out of there, Sinistcha!" Carmine cried out, but it was too late. The terrified teacup was so scared that it didn't move out of the way. In the next moment, a burnt Sinistcha drifted down to the ground. "Thank you, Sinistcha. You did amazing." Carmine said, returning the teachup.
"Sinistcha is unable to battle! Carmine send out your final Pokemon!" Cyrano announced.
Carmine pulled out her starter's Pokeball. She took a hostile stance. "This will decide it. Chesnaught, it's all on you!" She called out, tossing the ball in the air. Chestnaught stood definitely against Don Torabolt. Carmine then pulled out a black orb. "Time to Tera it up!"
She pressed the crystal in the center of the orb and light began to swirl into it. Somehow, the wind was also picking up around her, whipping her long hair around. When it stopped, the orb was glowing a deep blue. She threw it at Chesnaught where it exploded in a flash of light as soon as it hit his head. Crystals began to form around Chesnaught, completely blocking it from view. Unseen, a large jeweled fist formed on his head before the crystals started to form around its body. Chesnaught gave a cry as it punched its way out of the crystals surrounding it. The crowd started to cheer as the display as the now crystalized Pokemon stood proudly.
"HAHAHA! This will be interesting! Don Torabolt, are you ready?" Don Momotaro laughed. A thumbs up was all the answer he needed. Pulling out his own Tera Orb, Don Momotaro held it high in the air. Terastal Energy filled the orb, and when it was ready, Don Momotaro wound his arm back. "Let's make this showy!" He called out as he threw the ball at full speed. Despite the distance, the ball seemed to catch on fire as it blasted towards Don Torabolt.
When it hit, there was a burst of energy as dark crystals formed around Torabolt. In a much quicker fashion, Don Torabolt burst from the crystals in a partial crouch. It cracked its neck with a smug grin, regardless of the chandelier crown on his head. The cheers were deafening at this point, though neither trainer seemed to be bothered by it.
"Earthquake!" Both trainers shouted. Simultaneously, both Pokemon stomped their foot on the floor. Two waves of earth were formed and began rushing towards their respective opponents. They collided and canceled each other out.
"Temper Flare!" Momotaro called out before the attacks even finished dying down. Torabolt's crown flared up before Don Torabolt started sprinting towards Chesnaught. The flames that were surrounding him were even larger and hotter than before.
"Spiky Shield!" Carmine countered. With ample time, Chesnaught fully brought up his shield arms in front of him.
"Switch to Darkest Lariat!" Midstride, Don Torabolt started to spin. The flames transferred to his palms as the spinning increased. Right before he was going to hit the spikes, he swerved around Chesnaught. He looped around and started moving towards his foe's back.
"He's coming behind. Close Combat!" Carmine warned her Pokemon. Chesnaught retracted his shields and pivoted towards the incoming Incineroar. Chesnaught's crown started shining as it began throwing lightning fast punches at the flaming cyclone. The two forces began to try to over power each other. "Come on, Chesnaught. You can do it!" At his trainer's word, Chesnaught starting throwing faster attacks, gaining ground.
"Show them why you are the strongest, Don Torabolt!" Don Momotaro challenged.
"Incineroar!" Torabolt announced. The flames built up and quickly began to spread across Chesnaught's fists before engulfing Chesnaught. A moment later, Don Torabolt broke through the attacks and sent Chesnaught flying back. Chesnaught created a ditch as it slid across the ground.
"Chesnaught!" Carmine called out worriedly. She forwent the standard rules of battling and ran to her starter. She slumped over when she saw that the crystals disappear. She hugged the knocked out fighter whispering her thanks before returning him to his Pokeball.
"Chesnaught is unable to battle! Carmine is out of usable Pokemon! Don Momotaro wins!" Cyrano announced. The crowd began screaming once more. Don Momotaro took out his fan and started fanning himself.
"HAHAHAHA! A win for the ages!" He cheered as Don Torabolt started making various poses for the crowd, the crystals receding from its body. Momotaro approached Carmine. "It was a fantastic battle, my Companion. You've really improved." Momotaro held out a hand towards his defeated opponent. Carmine turned towards him with a scowl that turned into a small smile. She took his hand and shook it.
"I'll get you next time. The championship will be mine this year," Carmine challenged. Don Momotaro's shoulders shook, and while she couldn't see through the mask, she knew that he was grinning under it.
"I'll look forward to it," Momotaro accepted. "I'll see you in the club later!" The two trainers departed each other with Carmine forcing her way through the crowd, while the Don moved towards his starter. He patted its shoulder, getting it to stop posing. "Come, we have some guests to entertain."
"Incin," Tora gave a thumbs up. Together, they walked towards Crispin and Lacey, or they tried to before many students started to swarm the two. They started trying to push their way through the crowd with many apologies.
The two trainers were trying to keep a handle on the very excited Loud siblings, especially Lynn Jr., Lana, Lola, and Lily. Well, Lily was being handled by Crispin who had put her back on her shoulders while carrying Pixie in his arms. This seemed to please the Chikorita who was content be near her partner. Meanwhile, Luan and Luna were looking over the footage that Meloetta had taken with Meloetta looking over their shoulders.
"That was amazing!" Momotaro heard Lynn shout over the crowd. "The big cat was crazy strong. I wonder what it would be to wrestle it!" She was completely oblivious to the looks her family was giving her.
"Lynn Junior, you will halt any thoughts of that this instant or you will be grounded until you graduate college!" Rita suddenly spoke. Lynn looked like she was about to argue before the stern glare from her mother cut through her excitement. She gave a sad nod.
"But you got to admit that it was really cool. I knew Pokemon were powerful, but I didn't know they were this strong," Lana commented.
"And what was that crystal thing that surrounded Chesnaught and Don Torabolt? It was beautiful," Lola continued with an awed expression. "I would look amazing if that happened to me." Lacey chuckled at the 9 year old's question.
Lacey pulled out her own Tera Orb. "That was Terastalization. When a trainer uses a Tera Orb on their Pokemon, it causes crystals to form around them and change its type. Every Pokemon can Terastalize, but the type they change into will vary," she explained.
"Amazing! Do they all get different hats?" Leni asked. At the somewhat blank looks, Leni looked slightly put out. "What? I'm just curious." Lacey snapped her fingers, and her phone flew back from Luan and Luna.
"Hey!" The two called out. Laney just stuck out her tongue at the older girls before she started fiddling with her phone. She turned it around to show a picture of Sonogo with an ice crown.
"This is Sonogo's Terastal Form. She is an Ice Tera Type. My partner, Excadrill, has a Fairy Tera Type! Isn't he just the cutest?" Lacey bragged as she showed a picture of a bipedal, chubby brown mole with large, shovel-like metal claws on its arms and heads. Sitting on the head shovel was a crystal heart. Lola was about to open up her mouth, but Lana beat her to the punch.
"He's adorable!" Lana squealed.
"He's not that cute…" Lola grumbled.
"I want to see the cute Pokemon," Lily squealed from Crispin's head. Crispin moved his hands to Lily's legs as she wobbled on his shoulders.
"Alright. I think I have a few pictures of Excadrill on my phone. Hey, Rotom, can you come out and show Lily some of the photos of our Pokemon?" Crispin reassured. His Rotom Phone flew out of his pocket and up to Lily. It beeped before pictures of various Pokemon showed up on it.
Lily started paging through the different photos. "Woah! Who's this Pokemon? They look like lions," Lily asked, bringing the phone to Crispin's eyes.
"Oh, the smaller one is Litleo, while the bigger ones are Pyroar," Crispin pointed out. "The girl Pyroars have the longer manes, while the boy Pyroars have the big fluffy manes."
Lily breathed out with stars in her eyes, "Cool. What about this one?" Soon the two were going through all the Pokemon pictures with Crispin explaining all the Pokemon in them. Luan, Luna, and Meloetta had recovered from the sudden disappearance and were joining the twins looking over Lacey's Pokemon photos.
Meanwhile, the male adults were discussing the events of the battle and all that they learned about Pokemon battling.
Albert had a big grin. "Well, this has been an exciting trip. I'm glad I was able to come. These Pokemon are amazing, just like Lincoln told me, but I didn't know it was like this. And my look-alike gets to work with them daily. That's quite the feat," he commented happily.
"It's crazy though, but I'm not certain about letting Lincoln continue this. It has to be really dangerous," Lynn Sr. noted. Albert fixed his son-in-law with a hard stare.
"I don't think that this would be possible. Think about how your son has been living for the past few years. He's been surrounded by Pokemon, and based on what our guides have been talking about, Lincoln has been very important for all of them. To take him away from this world would only hurt him," Albert explained. Lynn seemed to take the words to heart as he mulled them over.
"Then what do you think I should do? I don't think I can handle all of this danger that these Pokemon have. I can only imagine what could happen to Lincoln if he were to get hit by one of those attacks," Lynn asked. Worry filled his expression, and images of his son being attacked by monstrous creatures filled his head. A comforting hand on his shoulder shook him from his downward spiral.
"The first thing to do is try to understand him. While Lincoln has told us all about Pokemon, this is our first true experience with them," Albert suggested. "Besides, from what I understand, these are the highest level trainers. I don't think this will be standard." He then put a hand on his chin. "Unless what I think is happening is happening."
The Loud patriarch looked at his father-in-law incredulously. "What are you talking about?"
The elderly male waved him off. "Just leave an old man to his thoughts."
Likewise, the older Loud girls and Lisa were all in discussion. Lisa, in particular, was practically vibrating as she wrote down all her findings. "These Pokemon are fascinating creatures. Just imagine the technological benefits if one of these creatures can generate electricity. I need specimens," the little genius declared with an almost crazed look.
"Lisa, you will not. Pokemon are living things!" Rita scolded her second youngest. She turned to her two eldest. "You've been remarkably silent through all this. Is everything alright?"
"I'm fine, Mom. I'm just a little overwhelmed," Lori said almost absentmindedly. Leni was a different story.
"I'm positively thrilled. Oh, there is so many different Pokemans-"
"-Pokemon-" Lisa corrected.
"Pokemon that are giving me ideas. Sonodo-
"Sonogo-"
"Sonogo alone was such an inspiration. A fox-themed jacket, tailed scarfs, toe-bean gloves," Leni started to ramble. "I have so many ideas that I wish I had something to right down."
"Here you go," Lucy said, with a notebook. She was standing next to Lisa despite not being there a moment ago.
"Thanks, Lucy," Leni said happily. She didn't even react to her sudden appearance to the surprise of everyone else.
"I am quite interested in the Sinistcha, myself. I believe that it would be one of the ghost types that Lincoln and Briar had talked about," Lucy commented darkly with a small smile.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Don Momotaro suddenly shouted. All the guests and their guides looked towards the crowd. Don Momotaro was standing on the back of the mechanical lizard that he rode at the start of the battle. Don Torabolt was playing crowd control with some of the more crazy students. The students were completely silent while Cyrano was laughing in the background. "I'll see you all in class later or at the Terrarium, but you need to go. Failure to do so means I go on strike for a week!" All the students were suddenly silent.
"You can't!/How will we live?/What about the medicine?" That and more was screamed out in panic.
The sunglasses on his mask gleamed menacingly as he looked over the crowd. "That will be your problem, won't it?" His words echoed through their ears. In a comical fashion, their eyes became pinpricks before they ran off screaming. "HAHAHAHA! That's what I thought!" His laughter seemed to spur the students into running even faster. Besides him, Tora was rolling on the ground laughing at the students.
Momotaro jumped off of his mount. He patted it on the head to its joy. From somewhere, he pulled out a wrapped sandwich. The lizard's eyes literally turned into hearts, and it started begging for it. "Here you go, Enya," Momotaro happily cheered and tossed the sandwich in the air. It jumped after it and started chowing down on it happily. "Sorry for taking you out when its not a delivery or for a show. Have a rest. You as well, Tora," Momotaro returned his Pokemon before pocketing the ball. He clapped his hands together and walked towards the watching family.
"Welcome, my guests, to Blueberry Academy. I am Don Momotaro. It is a pleasure," the man gave an extravagant bow and then shifted to a handshake pose.
"It is a pleasure to meet you as well. It was quite a show you gave us," the elder had a big grin as he said this.
"I am glad to entertain. Pokemon battles are an excellent way to bond with people," Momotaro said excitedly. He turned to the rest of the people. "We will have time for more individual introductions later. Crispin has set up quite a feast for you all, and I imagine that you all are quite hungry after your flight." As if waiting, a loud rumbling came from all the Loud family's stomachs.
"I could definitely go for some food right now," Lynn Jr. complained, holding her stomach.
"Yay! I can finally eat some of Crispin's food," Lily cheered from Crispin's shoulders. The older boy shrugged carefully.
"Eh, it's nothing really special. We just got a bunch of cold cuts and the like so you all can assemble some bread-based meals," Crispin explained.
"Wait, won't that just be sand-" Luan started.
"Don't finish that!" Momotaro, Lacey, and Crispin all stopped her. Torabolt was even ready to place a paw over her mouth.
"Enya Rideon is obsessed with that specific bread-based meal to the point it would break out of its Pokeball at the sound of that word. Even though it was just fed, there is the possibility it will demand more," Lacey explained hurriedly.
"It's a pain to clean up after it when it gets on a food rampage," Crispin stated robotically with a thousand-yard stare. Lily started poking his cheeks, only to get no response.
"If any of you cause it to go on a rampage, you will be responsible for cleaning up after him, and it will not be an easy job. Do I make myself clear?" Don Momotaro warned seriously. He looked at Luan and Lana specifically when he said that.
"Understood," they all said. The champion looked at them all before he nodded.
"Good, now follow me. Stay close and do not wander off. Blueberry Academy is quite large, so you need to make certain you stay close," Momotaro said, as he led them to the main entrance of the school. Right after passing through the entrance, there was a map that showed a picture of the whole school. It had the platform where they came from, under it were 6 spheres (5 colored spheres surrounding a central sphere) connected to the platform by a central elevator. The 5 colored spheres all had another elevator that led down to a massive sphere where a mishmash of various environments were pictured.
"What is this?" Leni asked innocently, pointing at the bottom of the picture.
"That is the Blueberry Academy's pride and joy, the Terrarium. An artificially created nature park with 4 different environments built in. If you want, we can take you there tomorrow," Momotaro explained. "However, we will not be going there now. Instead, we will be heading here." He pointed to a spot on the red circle.
"Welcome to the Classic League Club Room," Don Momotaro announced as he walked backwards into the room with outstretched arms. The rest of the group piled in afterwards.
He had led them to a dark wood lined room. There were several beams supporting the walls with irregular wood decorations giving them an almost tree-like appearance. Paintings of fossils hung on one wall over a comfy looking couch surrounded by digging gear and large pots. The adjacent wall had a large multi-door cabinet. The opposite wall had a strange machine in the corner with a computer hooked up a few feet to the left of it. In the center, there were four tables placed together to create a large table with more than enough seats for the entire Loud Family and at least a half dozen more. On the table, there were multiple plates filled with various toppings, condiments, and slices of bread.
"*Whistle* This is a classy place," Luna commented.
"Why is it called Classic?" Lola asked. Lacey took over this question as she stood to the right of Momotaro. Meloetta was sitting on her shoulder, giggling at the awed looks of the Louds and Albert.
"That's because there are multiple League Club Rooms, each with their own style. We started out with this room, but as the League Club grew, we ran out of space for everyone, so we got more," Lacey explained. Crispin took the other side, Lily still on his shoulders, but Pixie was walking at his feet.
"Explanations can be for later. I'm getting hungry, and I'm certain everyone else is starving," Crispin said, impatiently.
"Are you going to be eating without us?" Carmine's voice called from behind them. Three more people made their way into the room with Carmine leading them. One was a boy almost as tall as Carmine with short spiky white hair that was accented by a large white tuft that was highlighted with a blue streak. He had on a jacket identical to Momotaro's with a white shirt underneath it. He wore a folded down cape over his standard Blueberry Academy pants.
Next to him was a shorter girl with black hair, with four sections of her hair styled to look like screws. She wore the winter Blueberry Academy uniform with gray boots. A noticeable accessory was the chain that was clipped on her left shoulder that was attached to a pocket watch.
"Carmine, Drayton, Amarys, so glad to see that you made it?" Momotaro happily greeted with a wide wave.
"Sup, Champ! I was just taking a nap when Amarys dragged me here. Are the visits today?" Drayton asked with a laid back posture. He looked like he could fall asleep at any moment.
"Of course it is today!" Carmine answered for the champion angrily. "You are the worst." She said with venom towards Drayton.
"We are about 5 minutes late because of you. How you are the strongest of the Elite Four is beyond us?" Amarys asked with a scathing tone.
"Eh!?" The Loud Sisters asked. Drayton looked at them with an exhausted but questioning look.
"Why are you surprised? Lacey, Amarys and Crispin are also part of the Elite Four," Drayton dryly commented.
Lily tilted her body so she was overlooking Crispin. "Are you really?" She asked with an excited grin.
Crispin had a bigger grin. "Surprise! I'm the 4th strongest of the BB Academy Elite 4."
"And you, Lacey?" Lucy asked with a knowing smile. Lacey placed her hands together and tilted her head.
"I'm the second strongest member, but you already knew that Lucy," she stated with a closed eye smile.
"Based on this data, is it correct to hypothesize that the remaining figure is the tertiary Elite Four member," Lisa said. Blank looks were given her way by everyone, but Amarys stepped forward.
"She is correct. I am Amarys, the third strongest Elite Four member of Blueberry Academy. However, Carmine and I trade victories just about every time we battle," Amarys stated. Carmine nodded vigorously at that.
She held her arms in front of her shaking as she growled out, "If I didn't face Drayton or Momotaro in the preliminaries last semester, I would be part of the Elite Four." Drayton looked nonplussed over that.
"Keep telling yourself that, Carmine. You always choke right before the big win," Drayton teased. Carmine's scowl seemed to grow before Amarys put a comforting hand on her shoulder. She visibly relaxed at this.
"So you all are the top trainers of this school. Why didn't you introduce yourself as that?" Lynn asked.
"Because its a real pain to go by those titles. People have all these expectations for us, and I just want to laze around," Drayton stated. He was elbowed by Carmine.
"What this fool means to say is that it comes with a lot of responsibilities. I'm not even an Elite, and I get pestered for battles all the time. It's nice to be able to be normal students, even if it is only by ourselves," Carmine explained.
"Wait, if that is the case, what is Lincoln's rank?" Luan asked.
"I bet he's not even in the top 100," Lynn commented. "He's too much of a coward to make it far." At this comment, the Elite 4 and Carmine all looked angry at Lynn while Momotaro was twirling his pinky in his ear. Well, Drayton was just yawning with an unimpressed look. Likewise, almost all of the Loud Sisters looked angry at Lynn Jr.'s words.
"Lynn Jr., you will not talk about your brother like that! One more comment like that, and you will be grounded for the rest of the trip," Rita threatened. Lynn shrank into herself at her mother's harsh words.
"Where is Lincoln?" Leni asked. "Isn't he part of this club? Why isn't he here?"
"Yeah!" The twins agreed. "We came to see Lincoln." Drayton stepped forward and laid a hand on both of their heads, careful to avoid Lola's tiara. Lola tried to remove it, but he didn't budge.
"You don't need to worry your pretty little heads. Your brother is doing fine and is quite happy."
"How can you be certain?" Luna asked. "I've known about Pokemon for less than three years, and I still can't believe how powerful these Pokemon are." Drayton looked at his friends with a small, questioning look. Don Momotaro nodded his head.
"Well that's easy. He's standing in this very room," Drayton said, nonchalantly. "Isn't that right, Champ?" All eyes turned to Don Momotaro.
"I suppose the act has to close eventually," Don Momotaro spoke. His voice took a lighter tone as he reached up to his mask. First, he pulled on his hair, revealing that it was a brown wig over a head of white hair. After that, he pulled off the mask, showing a familiar face.
"LINCOLN!" The Loud Family shouted.
"Linky!" Lily shouted, jumping from Crispin's shoulders towards her brother. He quickly caught her with a laugh.
"Hey, guys!" Lincoln said, with a big grin. He shifted Lily so she could latch to his side as she hugged him tightly.
Chapter End
I cannot begin to tell you how many times I rewrote the battle between Lincoln and Carmine. I changed Pokemon, moves, and outcomes of each individual part before I finally decided on the teams. I gave Carmine a Chesnaught because all the Elite Four and Kieren used one (and its kind of prickly like her), though I need to change Kieren's starter Pokemon. I don't want to have both Kieren and Lincoln have an Incineroar, especially because I specifically designed Don Torabolt to be insane. I mean, he is a Don. Plus, the way I set it up is you get your starter at the beginning of schooling, so which starter do you think fits the shy Kieren? Also I do have a little different plan for Kieren since he is obviously not any part of the higher ranks of the League Club.
To answer the review from the last chapters:
Nijistar: Thank you for that. It helps that Lily has not yet fallen into the limitation of Loud Sister hyperfocus (as I like to call it) so she is truly a normal, if mature, 4 year old who is really cute. Onto Lynn, I can see her be a good Poke Athlete, but I truly don't think she would be a great Trainer. She would rely too much on brute force and get tunnel vision.
Solartiger: Yup. At least when he's battling, he is like that. It's fun to write.
Mr. Haziq: (Ch1) Unova is such a touchy subject for people because the Anime was just terrible with nothing characters, while the games were fantastic. Further, this makes more sense than sending Lincoln over to Pokemon Japan, France, or Spain since it is relatively close by. (Ch2) Yup. In universe, when Turo was first testing his machine, it worked but it sent a third Miradon to the Kitakami Crystal Pools while Lincoln was exploring after he caught Ogerpon. On Lincoln's side, he just met this cool Pokemon that started following him around. It has all the travel modes and can fly so no need to find Herba Mystica. It's also how he got a job as a delivery man. Out of Universe, Momoi Tarou has a bike in Don Brothers, so I wanted to give Lincoln one. For both, their name is Enya Rideon.
BeaBeeB & zdforrest: Thank you. I hope you enjoyed the battle.
Final thing: I made an electric type mask for Ogerpon based heavily on Oni Sister from Don Brothers (Remove hyphens and replace dot and slash: tinyurl-dot-com-slash-mrycj4sj ). Should that be something used or do you want me to stick to the original 4 masks? I put up a poll, so please vote on that.
