The story began one day in Hell.
Lucifer was all alone in his palace when he heard the doorbell ring, which made him jump.
"Oh shit! Someone is at the door" he said.
He quickly rushed over to see who it was and found two sinners, a man and a woman. Both resembled dragons with red scaly skin, horns, long tails and large wings. The man had black slicked back hair while the woman had long black hair. Lucifer was confused why two random sinners came to see him.
"Uh…hi. Can I help you" he asked them.
"Greetings, your majesty" the male sinner replied.
"We're here asking for help with something specific that we think only you would know" said the female sinner.
Lucifer raised an eyebrow.
"OK, what might that be" he asked them.
The male sinner then showed his palm, revealing a symbol of what appeared to be the head of a dragon with eight eyes, four large horns and a pentagram on its forehead. It was all in a red and black aura. Lucifer didn't know where, but he was sure he'd seen that symbol somewhere before.
"Where have I seen that before" he asked.
"I am capable of harnessing and using a type of magic Hell hasn't seen in a very long time" the male sinner replied.
That was when it finally hit the big boss of Hell.
"Wait, you mean you can harness and use" he was cut off.
"Yes" the male sinner replied.
Lucifer was dumbfounded.
"How" he asked them.
"I manifested into Hell with this. We don't know how, but how the two of us got to this point is quite the long story" the male sinner replied.
"In that case, come on in and we'll talk about it…eh" said Lucifer.
"Daniel" said the male sinner.
"Cassandra" said the female sinner.
They walked inside and the door behind them slammed shut.
ONE YEAR LATER
It was chaos as usual in the Doomsday District of Pentagram City. However, little did the sinners know that today was the start of a new status quo in all of Hell.
BOOM!
Suddenly, the bottom of an empty skyscraper was destroyed in a big red fiery explosion. This caused the building to collapse and hit the ground with a loud boom. After that and a few more seconds of sinners just staring in awkward silence, two more buildings followed suit. After the smoke cleared a little, everyone saw nothing but more smoke and red burning ruble.
ROAR!
Just then, everyone heard a loud and terrible roar. That was when two giant black and red nightmarish creatures with glowing red eyes leapt out from behind the burning rubble. They looked like Grizzly Bears but giant, nightmarish and demonic. They had big sharp jagged teeth and their claws were on fire. One of the creatures stood upright on two legs, slashed the ground with its claws and both of them roared once more, bursts red fire spewing from their mouths as the roared. More roars were heard behind the raging red flames. All the sinners in the Doomsday District could only look on in horror as the nightmarish creatures made their way towards them, very eager to tear them to pieces.
Meanwhile…
Alastor was with Charlie and Vaggie on the balcony of the Hazbin Hotel when they saw a lot of smoke coming from the Doomsday District. Alastor and Vaggie didn't pay it too much attention while Charlie was concerned because A LOT more smoke was coming from there than usual.
"Something is wrong. The Doomsday District is smoking a lot more than usual" said Charlie.
"That's strange. What's going on over there" Vaggie asked.
That was when they saw a skyscraper in that district collapse with a loud boom. Charlie and Vaggie became wide-eyed while Alastor didn't react.
"OK, something really bad is happening over there" said Vaggie.
"Alastor, how fast can you get us there" Charlie asked him.
In response, Alastor simply snapped his fingers and they all got teleported to the roof a building that is just outside of the Doomsday District. The chaos, destruction and death was even worse up close. There was red fire, smoke and burning ruble everywhere. Charlie and Vaggie were wide-eyed and horrified while Alastor looked rather amused.
"What…what could cause so much damage like this" Charlie asked.
That was when they spotted a lot of black and red nightmarish creatures with glowing red eyes laying siege to the buildings and sinners of the district. The creatures all resembled animals that are or once were on Earth, only nightmarish, demonic, more deadly. From giant grizzly bears with red flaming claws to saber-toothed tigers. From raptors with huge claws to big dilophosaurs with eyes on their frills.
"What are those things" Vaggie asked.
"I have no idea" Charlie replied.
"Very interesting" said Alastor.
That was when they spotted a sinner standing on top of a building, overlooking the destruction below. He had red scaly skin, black slicked back hair, horns, a long tail that ended in a scorpion stinger, large wings and glowing red eyes. He also had six long black tentacles on his back, all of them ending in pincer-like claws, which he used to hold onto the edge of the building.
"Hey" Charlie shouted.
The sinner looked up from the carnage and spotted her with Alastor and Vaggie. He then raised his right hand and snapped his fingers. Suddenly, all of the nightmarish creatures stopped their rampage, turned around and fled the scene. When Charlie, Vaggie and Alastor looked up at where the sinner was, he was gone.
"Where did he go" Vaggie asked.
"He just…disappeared" Charlie replied.
"Who was that guy" Vaggie asked.
"I don't have the slightest clue" Charlie replied.
"Neither do I" said Alastor.
"Let's just…get back to the Hotel" said Charlie.
Alastor obliged and snapped his fingers, transporting them back to the balcony of the Hazbin Hotel.
Later…
666 News reported the carnage that happened, revealing that the nightmarish creatures destroyed more than half of the Doomsday District.
"We've also received information from the sinner responsible for this territorial devastation. A sinner that others have started calling the Nightmare Demon" said Katie Killjoy.
"Very interesting nickname, Katie" said Tom Trench.
"Thanks, Tom. Anyways, they said that the army they have is a lot bigger than what they showed off and that they have Negative Magic at their disposal. You know what that means, Tom" Katie asked him.
"No, what does that mean, Katie" he asked her.
"It means that the Pentagram now has a demon with an army and they all have the power to erase us. And THAT means that we're all completely fucked" she replied.
Katie's eye twitched before the news showed the insignia for Negative Magic – the head of a dragon with eight eyes, four large horns and a pentagram on its forehead. All in a red and black aura that pulsed before it completely dissolved.
Charlie and Vaggie were wide-eyed and horrified, Alastor had that same smile on his face but he was very much nervous underneath while Husk, Angel, Sir Pentious and Niffty just stared in silence.
"Well, this is…troubling" said Alastor.
"This is bad. Very, VERY bad" said Vaggie.
"What the fuck is Negative Magic" Husk asked.
"It's the most powerful kind of magic in all of Hell. However, it can't be taught, harnessed and used by just anyone. Only those who are…gifted have the power to actually harness it and use it" Charlie replied.
"Has anyone ever had it before" Angel asked.
"A demon that my mom and dad had killed a long time ago" Charlie replied.
Angel raised an eyebrow.
"Why" he asked her.
"He…went mad with power and tried to usurp the other royals of Hell" she replied.
"Wait, how exactly can a type of magic from Hell erase us? I thought only blessed weapons from Heaven can do that shit" Husk asked.
"Negative Energy is harmful, destructive and unpredictable energy that dominates and destroys anything that it touches. Negative Magic is the antithesis to Angelic Magic" said Vaggie.
Husk, Angel and Sir Pentious were taken aback while Niffty continued to stare.
"And now I know what those things we saw were" said Charlie.
"What" Sir Pentious asked her.
"Living Nightmares" she replied.
"Living Nightmares" Angel asked.
"Monstrous creatures that are made entirely out of Negative Energy. Their only purpose is to serve, obey and protect their master without question" Charlie replied.
"Interesting…and their master can just conjure them up at will" Sir Pentious asked.
"Effectively, yeah. He just needs to create one and then he can conjure up as many as he wants from memory" Charlie replied.
"Whoa" Angel uttered.
"Shit" Husk uttered.
"Now, my only question is who is this Nightmare Demon and what does he really want" Charlie asked.
FLASHBACK
"And that's the full story" said Daniel.
Lucifer was touched. He thought that Daniel and Cassandra were just like the other sinners, when, in reality, they're just a happy couple that are deeply in love, had everything bad thrown their way and only wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. He shed a tear as the couple in front of him somewhat reminded him of himself and Lilith.
"Beautiful, just…beautiful. I never thought I'd ever meet a man who would do and sacrifice everything to be with the woman he loves" said Lucifer.
Daniel and Cassandra both smiled.
"OK, I'll get you what you need to jumpstart your careers and lives in Hell. BUT after that point, you are on your own" said Lucifer.
"Of course. Thank you so much for this, your majesty" said Nightfright.
"For this, we are forever in your debt" said Cassandra.
Lucifer chuckled.
"Oh, don't worry about it. It's the least I can do for a happy couple like yourselves. And please, call me Lucifer" he said.
"Hmm…you know what, my dear" Dan asked her.
"What" she asked him.
"New life in Hell? I think we should get new names to go along with it" he replied.
Cassandra giggled.
"Sounds like fun" she said.
"That is actually a smart move" said Lucifer.
"Hmm…how is Nightfright for a new name" Dan asked her.
"Oh, that is perfect" said Cassandra.
"Considering what you can do, that name fits perfectly" said Lucifer.
"That's yours, now how about mine" Cassandra asked him.
"How about…Scarlett" he suggested.
"Oh, I like it! I like it" she said.
Nightfright smiled.
"In that case, Scarlett, our new lives in Hell are only just beginning" he said.
The two of them held hands and smiled at each other.
