(Vince PoV)
As we walked down the stairs a thought hit me.
'This is where Pete finds our dad's bag….damn even after all these years even I forgot about it…'
I made sure to note I need to evaluate the timeline a little bit more.
"Hey! Boys! You think you can fix this?" Uncle Ben was soaked and waddled over to us making sure to not slip on the rogue floating items.
I looked around in surprise, the water was at least 3-4 inches high.
"Geez….I didn't think the flood was THIS bad…we might have to get a new house…." I said turning to Peter with a playful grin on my face.
Pete just smacked me upside the head.
"No, don't listen to him Uncle Ben, the flooding isn't that bad we just need to fix…."
(4 hours later.)
Water suddenly sprayed me in my unimpressed face.
"Hey I thought you said it wasn't that bad….this thing sprayed me like five times!" I yelled over to Peter who was using a wrench on some weird house part, I wasn't one for mechanics or building.
I was sopping wet, itchy and I wanted to sleep.
Honestly no one likes being uncomfortably wet, especially socks! I hate wet socks!
I shivered at the thought.
"Yeah, this is the final touch….and there! Done!"
I could hear Peter place the wrench down.
Sighing in relief I grabbed the nearby tools and carefully walked over to Peter.
"Hey I'm gonna go shower, let me know if you found anything worth saving down here…"
And with that I walked upstairs.
But not before kicking some water at him, big brothers have to do big brother things.
"VINCE…!!!"
I sat on my bed observing the papers from that day.
I took a deep breath and reread the entire news article hoping to remember something.
When I first came into this world I didn't know what the hell was happening, I mean that's expected of a newborn….all I remember is waking up to my father who held me.
At the time the world was so small.
And then when I found out where I was.
I felt I could rule the universe with my knowledge.
But when I was four I had an accident, a very bad one at that, it was the one where I lost my mother.
And my memory, it even affected my past life's memories as well which makes it hard for me to keep track of the timeline.
All I can recall is green smoke and us crashing the car….but one thing that will never leave my face is the look of fear on my mothers face.
It was as if the reaper himself had come for our souls.
It helped remind me that I am still human, and these people have lives, and not just those simple truths, but I was ignorant and naive to think the world would go my way.
I sat down and meditated on these events hoping I could remember something about my past.
But nothing was new, just the same old news report about it, and the same story Uncle Ben and Aunt May know.
I sighed realizing that it was not constructive to keep focusing on it, so I just waited for Peter.
After a while I heard Peter's familiar footsteps, from what I could read off of them they sounded like the steps of a conflicted and confused person.
'He found the bag….'
(10 minutes prior; Peters PoV)
I sighed in annoyance after I got splashed.
'I kept myself dry this whole time….'
I chuckled at my older brother's antics, he was a very unique individual, definitely had a few screws loose but he was as sharp as cheddar cheese….which is what Vince says about himself all the time.
He looked around the basement for anything worth saving, that was until a familiar brown bag caught his eyes.
'Isn't this…wait this is Dad's!'
He started to remember all the car rides and moments his dad carried this bag.
Peter walked into the kitchen, eyes still on the bag.
Uncle Ben and Aunt May were bickering about plumbers and housing stuff but stopped once they saw Peter carrying that familiar bag.
Uncle Ben was the first to speak, "Ha! I forgot all about that thing, it was your dad's, he carried that sucker everywhere he went ever since he was your age."
Peter could only stare, so much was going through his head.
"He asked us to keep it safe for him, saw it down at a leather shop, it was hilarious seeing a 19 year old kid with a briefcase."
Aunt May could only smile as she remembered the wholesome moments of her brother in law carrying that bag.
Uncle Ben continued, "And you wanna know who sold it to him…?"
Peter shrugged not knowing the answer.
"It was your mother, that's how they met."
Peter smiled to himself.
'At least I have something from them that I can remember them for….'
But he still couldn't understand why his father asked to keep this bag safe, there wasn't anything in it.
Peter nodded and rummaged through the bag, he pulled out an unfamiliar photo.
"Do you guys know who this is…?"
The hope in his voice made the two feel for the kid, but they were at a loss.
Aunt May stepped forward.
"Hey Pete, you should probably go show your brother, he might be interested in the bag as well…"
Uncle Ben nodded in agreement.
Peter sighed, "Alright…thank you for your help."
And with that Peter walked upstairs and headed for him and his brothers room.
Peter opened the door and saw Vince looking out the window.
"Hey…Vince…I found something that belonged to our dad…"
Vince quickly turned and his eyes immediately went to the bag, he smiled.
"Well did you go through it? Let's do it together thoroughly!"
Peter smiled at the energy of his older brother.
Peter placed the bag in the middle of the room and they both began to organize everything that was inside.
Vince picked up a small glasses case, it held a nice pair of black framed glasses with simple lenses. "Ooooh! I can see much better now!"
Vince blinked a few times before checking himself out in the mirror.
Peter could only smile at his brother's silliness.
'At least he's here to always bring up the mood…'
Peter looked at the organized items and one stood out the most.
He held the OSCORP badge that had his father's face on it.
Memories flashed in his head of conversations he had with his dad before he left.
Putting down the badge he picked up the bag hoping to find something else, but when he moved the bag he heard a noise.
'There's something hidden in here…'
Vince noticed it too and sat down near Peter as he took out hidden files in the bag.
"What the hell is this…."
They both looked at the files which held different equations and symbols, Vince was at a loss and surprisingly so was Peter.
The equation read; Decay Rate Algorithm.
Peter kinda understood it but with our proper context he was at a loss, meanwhile Vince was completely dumbfounded.
'I can't believe I at one point I thought I could take over the Universe….I can't even read what this equation says.'
Vince just blinked a few times.
'Though I do have a good memory, I'll write this down later and study it.'
Suddenly they heard a knock on the door, Peter was unfazed but Vince nearly jumped out his skin.
Peter just laughed at Vince's reaction and opened the door.
It was Uncle Ben, he had a solemn look on his face, but also one of confession and apology.
Both Vince and Peter sat down and listened to what Uncle Ben looked like he was about to say.
"I know we haven't talked much about your parents, and for Vince, your father, I just want to let you know I'm sorry. I know it's been rough for you both growing up and experiencing these things."
He took a pause.
"The man in the photo, his name was Kurt Connors, he was a long time business friend and worker of your father, we never heard from him again after the accident."
While Peter looked like he was processing the information, Vince was already making his next plan.
'Soon we'll be heading to OSCORP.'
Peter got up and hugged Uncle Ben, "You know, you're a pretty great dad…."
Vince got up as well, "GROUP HUG!"
Both Uncle Ben and Peter groaned under the strength of Vince's hug.
"Alrighty! I'm gonna go to sleep, let me know what you find." Vince said already knowing most of what Peter was gonna look for, these past few days his memory of this world's events started to become more clear, and he was even able to see what happened that day more clearly then before, nothing new just refined.
A start is a start.
"Night Pete!"
Peter just waved as his eyes were glued to the screen searching for Kurt Connors and His father, Richard Parker.
