Chapter 57

Cocytus, the fifth-floor guardian and fervent and loyal servant of the Supreme One, Galadriel Melkor, sighed happily, with joy and pride. He was with the Lizerman tribe, watching them train and doing their hardest to improve their already quite sufficient sword skills. Cocytus couldn't believe it had been such a long time since he was ordered to assimilate them into Nazarick. At first, Cocytus thought that destroying them and showcasing the large difference in power would have been enough to win and that after witnessing his strength, they would have surrendered. But he didn't realise how determined the Lizardmen were to fight, even if it meant Armageddon and losing. Those brave warriors fought against him without ever losing faith.

Cocytus should have known better. The test was not only for them but for him as well. Cocytus didn't realise the true goals of his lady's mission. She wanted him to learn and adapt. That strength wasn't sufficient to achieve one's goal. Any race, either humans or demi-human races, would still fight with everything they had, even if they were on the edge of defeat, because hope was stronger than any blade at his disposal. Yes, Cocytus learned a lot that day.

Now that he had made sure everyone was safe and persuaded his lady to bring back some of those brave warriors, Cocytus argued that losing them would have definitely hit the tribe and future offspring of warriors capable of using Martial Arts. It was better to procure their loyalty and show them that death was of no bother to them and slowly create a system in which they'll become stronger over time. That was good enough for Galadriel, who agreed with Cocytus' view. Cocytus was then given the job of leading them and making sure they did well. A job that Cocytus has taken seriously. However, as he took notice of all the work he still had ahead of him, among the future dragon lord hunting, Cocytus found ways to keep himself busy. Nevertheless, Cocytus noticed an imp approaching him with urgent news in hand.

"Lord Cocytus!" The imp exclaimed.

"What is it?" Cocytus demanded.

"Our lady has asked you to meet all guardians back at Nazarick's throne room! It's urgent!"

Cocytus wasted no time in demanding [Gate] be activated for him; he had no time to waste especially if his lady demanded the presence of all guardians.

"It must be something of the utmost urgency!" Cocytus whispered before leaving the lizardmen tribe without saying a word.

Soon enough, Cocytus arrived at Nazarick and walked quickly towards the throne hall, where he could see his fellow guardians also arriving quickly. Everyone seemed to have been called while doing their work, as they seemed rather taken aback by the sudden call. Not that it was problematic for them. The guardians always responded to their lady's call, regardless of where they were or what time it was. Still, this seemed different from before.

"Oh, Cocytus!" Aura shouted, waving her hand. "You were called too?"

"Yes, it is said to be urgent."

"What do you think it is?" Mare asked nervously.

"Something to do with the Dragon Lords, perhaps?" Aura replied, showcasing a bit of anxiety as well.

"You think? The last dragon lord we fought wasn't that strong," Mare replied, earning a small hit on the shoulder from his older sister.

"Idiot! What did our lady tell us never to forget?" Aura scoffed as Mare whined softly.

"T-To never underestimate our enemies?"

"Exactly!" Aura huffed. "We must never let our guards down and let our enemies use that against us! Maybe she is ready to teach us something new!"

"Oh! I see!" Mare replied with shining eyes.

"Future Dragon Lords could be problematic, especially if we don't have information about them, so keep an eye open!"

Aura looked quite happy with herself after actually spending time reading and learning strategy with Demiurge. There was a lot she had to learn still. But Aura was a good apprentice. And speaking about Demiurge. The demon swiftly arrived next to Shalltear.

"True words, Aura. We must never allow our enemies to get the upper hand on us," Demiurge nodded happily. However, Shalltear just rolled her eyes.

"Hopefully, next time, I'll be the one facing it," she muttered. "Last time, I couldn't even show my power to my beloved lady."

Shalltear whined softly, still craving more. However, it was met with a groan from Aura, who couldn't believe the idiot True Vampire hadn't learned anything yet.

"Idiot, this isn't about us fighting and getting all the glory, but defeating our enemies with overwhelming force!"

"True enough," Demiurge added, smiling. "Shalltear, we aren't doing all of this just to please our own self-interest or to look for personal glory. But to show our lady this, that we are capable of manoeuvring our enemies and showing them the power of Nazarick. That we can strategise and fight an enemy capable of responding in kind to our power. This is no longer about us."

Shalltear huffed but understood clearly enough what was expected of her. "I get it! I get it! We must work together." Shalltear muttered back, sniffing softly. Still feeling a bit disappointed that there wasn't much for her to do so far. Maybe that'll change in the future.

"Everyone," Sebas called, arriving too. "It seems we are gathering here."

"That appears to be. However, where is Rubedo?" Demiurge asked, tilting his head with curiosity. "She should have been here already."

"From what I understand, she has been giving the order to remain in the Empire until further notice, just with Yuri. It seems their job would soon end there, and they would move to the capital of the new kingdom. Under our lady's watchful eye. I have yet to decipher what their plan is."

Sebas spoke, and Demiurge hummed, scratching his chin and wondering the same thing. However, he could already see their next move, especially with the Re-Estize Kingdom's upcoming fall. Yet he couldn't forget the Roble Holy Kingdom and the demi-human armies he had been preparing there. There was a lot that soon would come.

"I'm curious why our lady wanted to meet us so urgently now."

Demiurge said this as the guardians walked into the throne room. However, as soon as they walked in, they could feel a heavy, terrifying aura coming from their lady. A sudden pressure pushed them down, almost making it harder for them to walk. At that moment, they knew their lady was furious about something or someone. Even Albedo looked quite anxious and utterly terrified by her lady's behaviour, but perhaps it was for something different. The Succubus was looking down, nervously playing with her hands like a chastised dog.

However, that wasn't all; that shocked the guardians as they saw Galadriel glare back at Albedo and snap at her.

"This is the final time you will ever tell me what to do, understand?" Galadriel hissed as Albedo's body flinched.

"Y-yes, my lady, please forgive me," Albedo muttered submissively.

Galadriel took a deep breath and glared at the guardians, who were frozen in place. They all reacted quickly and kneeled before her, truly terrified about what was happening. Each one of them quickly began thinking the worst. Did someone make a mistake? Did someone misunderstand their lady's order? Perhaps someone has discovered where Nazarick's entrance was, and it was their fault such a thing was allowed to happen. The possibilities were endless, but because of that, so were their fears.

What if they had done something so horribly wrong that it made their lady angry and think of leaving them?

No, that thought alone was almost enough to break their spirits. Demiurge's mind was already thinking of a million ways to beg for forgiveness. And so were the rest of the guardians, who were truly ready to just kiss their lady's feet.

"Sorry for calling all of you so suddenly. But something has happened that requires all of you to be here," Galadriel spoke, and her voice alone was enough for them to keep their faces glaring at the ground. Galadriel's dizziness was making her simply close her eyes and try to regain some control over her mind. She never thought it possible that she'd be sick; such a possibility was something she had never considered at all. But there she was, pregnant and with the famous morning sickness.

These waves of nausea must be from a world item! I feel like shit. Galadriel growled, feeling her stomach telling her so. I think that if I could see my stats, I would definitely have a debuff or something like that on me. It's the only way I could explain how it's bypassing all my items and skills.

Galadriel held her hand on her mouth, trying to hold back any sensation of puking. She had had enough of Albedo's overbearing behaviour and her treatment of her as if she were a porcelain doll or invalid. She may be pregnant, but that doesn't mean she was incapacitated, which was the reason why she snapped back at Albedo early. The Succubus wanted to do everything now, forcing her to stay in her room and rest until she gave birth. Which only angered Galadriel. She could still work and move around.

Who does Albedo think she is? That after knocking me up, she's going to lock me in the room forever? As if she owned me? Galadriel scoffed, still throwing glances at Albedo, who inched slightly.

"Now, there's going-" The guardians' shouts abruptly cut off Galadriel's conversation.

"Please forgive us!"

The guardians exclaimed at the time in a quite hilarious and momentarily shocking manner at Galadriel, who simply raised her eyebrows in confusion. "Uh?"

"We are truly sorry!" Aura yelled, as Mare quickly nodded his head, showcasing his fears. "We've failed you!"

"Please allow these useless guardians to show how regretful we are!" Cocytus added, pretty much forcing his head onto the ground. "I'll give up my life in order to fix my mistake!"

"Pathetic, that's what we are!" Demiurge spoke, as his facial expression showcased not only his sorrow but also his regret at not being up to the task, whatever that task was. "We should have seen it! I should have prepared better. I-! I am but a failure!"

"Please forgive us!" Don't leave us!" Shalltear pretty much began to tear up as her body trembled at the thought of her lady leaving them.

Sebas didn't say much; his face was already an expression of regret, and the sweat on his forehead and his trembling body truly made it known that if there was something he feared the most, it was their lady leaving them because of their failures. Galadriel, however, sat on her throne and watched all of this happen. She was very confused and didn't know what was going on. The guardians were pouring their hearts out, but for the wrong reasons, in her eyes.

"Please punish us!" The guardians again exclaimed at the same time. "Even if it means our death! Allow us to pay for our mistakes!"

The guardians bow their heads, making sure their foreheads kiss the ground, demonstrating their feelings for their lady. Yet Galadriel had no idea what those feelings were. She, in fact, had no clue as to what exactly was happening.

"What's going on?"

Galadriel glanced at Albedo, who was also looking quite confused at them. However, while funny, Galadriel had quite the headache. She simply had no idea why the guardians were begging for forgiveness or punishment. But she truly didn't care at the moment. She knew they were all quite dramatic and could jump to conclusions before even knowing anything else. But this was quite ridiculous. Truly dramatic, and while at other times, Galadriel would have laughed and simply shook her head in amusement. She could only sigh quite tiredly.

"Enough!" Galadriel exclaimed, rubbing her forehead, not liking these morning sicknesses, or DPS, as she would call them. "What are you all talking about? Why are all of you asking for forgiveness?"

The guardians glanced at each other, feeling.

"Because of our failures?" The question was asked, which only made Galadriel groan louder.

"What failures?" She asked them, and they truly didn't know. They pretty much expected her to say and list each one of their mistakes to them. But such a list didn't exist because she didn't call them here for any of that. Galadriel again took a deep breath and stared down at the guardians.

"Now, hear me. I didn't call you here to reprimand you for a mistake you've made," Galadriel stated slowly. "For none of you has made a mistake."

That seemed to relax and bring down some of the tension. The guardians sighed in relief but were still confused about why their lady had seemed so tense and furious before.

"But, my lady, why did you scream at Albedo?" Shalltear asked, making Galadriel sigh deeply.

Galadriel said, "For something; that has to do with why I called you all here," before staring at them and getting ready to hear the shocking news. Mm, I never thought it would be quite hard to say it. Who would have thought?

Galadriel sighed before watching them, unconsciously putting a hand on her belly. "I am pregnant."

The words left her mouth, and it seemed that it took a while for the guardians to gather their thoughts. It was as if they expected something else. But nothing like that. Galadriel, who had just sat on her throne, was now feeling quite nervous and wondering about the lack of response from the guardians. Yet before she could say anything more, suddenly, a loud cheer was heard. One that took Galadriel by surprise.

"Pregnant?!" Shalltear exclaimed with a shocked face. "My lady is pregnant. My beloved is with child?!" The true vampire whispers, but instead of horror in her voice. Shaltear could only think of certain images of a quite big and cute belly.

"Baby!" Mare and Aura looked utterly fascinated by the fact their lady was pregnant and could only look at it with pure, innocent eyes, very differently from Shalltear, who was chuckling to herself in a very bizarre way.

"Oh, a baby! I can already see it! Uncle Cocytus, can I ride your shoulder?" Cocytus' dreams of him happily carrying the young lady's child filled him with joyful happiness. Truly, that future was soon to become a reality. He only needed to wait for that. But nothing could have made him happier than that.

"My lady is pregnant... I-I must prepare the Pleiades, and so must the rest of the maids," Sebas whispered, already thinking that they must prepare for the future child of their lady. They must be equipped for the serious training of having a baby. He must take some classes too. This was perhaps the most important job a butler would ever have in his life.

"Finally," Demiurge muttered, holding a big smirk on his face. "What tremendous news! Truly, this is wonderful!"

Galadriel chuckled now, hearing their reactions. It did bring her some relief to hear that. Definitely better than her paranoia. It allowed her to believe that, truly, it was all alright. "Better than I expected," she said softly, glancing at Albedo, who also looked relieved.

"Now, Albedo, I'm not angry at you," Galadriel said, looking at the Succubus, whose eyes looked at her with understanding but also thankfulness.

"I apologise, my love. I'm just worried for your health," Albedo replied softly, earning a chuckle from the demon empress.

"I know, but please don't make me feel useless. I'm still me," Galadriel said, now noticing where her hand had been all this time. "I'll be careful; don't worry."

Galadriel then looked at the guardians, who seemed to be in their fantasy world. A happy fantasy world. "Now, guardians, as I was trying to say before I was interrupted, things are going to change now, thanks to this pregnancy."

Soon enough, all the guardians quickly stared at their lady and bowed, knowing how delicate the situation ahead of them would be.

"First of all, our current operations. The hunt for the dragon lord, the Re-Estize Kingdom's upcoming war, and the Roble Holy Kingdom's war with the demi-humans will continue as planned."

Galadriel knew she couldn't just simply abandon all they were working on. If they suddenly stop, then it may allow their enemies to use that break to gather their forces and plan a counterattack. It may seem quite far-fetched, and it was, but Galadriel realised that now that she was expecting a child. She wouldn't even allow a single evil thought to get any closer to her baby. In fact, Galadriel realised that now more than ever, she wanted safety for her child.

If she had to burn the entire world down and rebuild it for it to be safe for her family, Galadriel would do so without thinking twice or feeling any remorse.

"My lady, if I could."

"Go on, Demiurge."

"I believe we should prioritise the Re-Estize Kingdom. Internal conflict is currently dividing the Roble Holy Kingdom. It is my belief that we should let it boil before using the demi-humans to cause it to fail."

Galadriel hummed deeply upon hearing those words. "Mm, I guess you're right. Also, we can still use Jaldaboath."

Demiurge chuckled softly. "I already thought about it. So far, the Dragon Lords, especially the Platinum Dragon Lord, believe that Jaldaboath is a different entity. A demon lord of old. We could definitely use him to bait him out or some of his associates."

"And we can lure them out," Galadriel added, liking the idea already.

"Exactly."

"Good, I shall leave this operation in your capable hands. On the other hand, Shalltear, Mare, and Aura," Galadriel called the three, who quickly glanced at her. "We are going to use your abilities in the future. The Re-Estize Kingdom has to be utterly demolished."

"All of it destroyed?" Mare asked in quite an innocent tone.

Galadriel took her time to think deeply about it as if she had looked at it from an outside perspective. There were innocent people who were just caught in the middle of everything. So maybe it wasn't fair for them to share the same fate as those who would die. Yet, a part of her truly couldn't care less about those innocent people dying. However, at the same time, Galadriel thought that if she were to lead the world in the future, they would need to see her ruthless side but also one that inspired hope to some degree.

"Their cities, their walls, and their fields; their culture, and their history. The Re-Estize Kingdom will cease to exist. Their people, well, mercy doesn't come free, at least not for me. However, I will try to find a way to save as many innocent people as possible. After all, in the new future I want to build, I need citizens."

Galadriel realised that every future needed people who believed. Her old world lacked such things. People went their way, trying to survive. She was a demon empress with full negative karma; she couldn't care less or even rejoice in cruelty, and she saw humans as nothing but cockroaches. Yet she still wanted something better for herself and, consequently, for them. Galadriel wanted to create her perfect world. Her own vision of what peace and justice were and how to achieve them made Galadriel realise that people needed to be there.

"Sebas," Galadriel called as her loyal butler glanced at her.

"My lady."

"People will die; some innocents may be caught during the destruction of the kingdom. Yet, I would like to save as many innocent people as possible. Would that be possible for you?"

Sebas looked at her, and Galadriel could notice relief in the butler's eyes.

"Yes, my lady. It is possible."

"Good. I shall leave this matter to you."

"I will not disappoint you, my lady," Sebas said, to which Galadriel smiled.

"This led us to the Theocracy, which I believe is in quite a secret civil war," Galadriel muttered, remembering that nation. "Any news so far?"

"My lady, our agents are successfully inciting a battle between several factions there, for lack of a better phrase. The Cardinals are currently engaged in a power struggle. Adding to that, our little crazy zealot hasn't stopped getting more worshippers for your name. The Cardinals are slowly losing ground on the country."

Albedo stated, and Galadriel relaxed and giggled gently. "Good. Let's leave the Roble Holy Kingdom and the Theocracy for later. The longer those conflicts continue, the better the reward for us. Still, I would like to know more about this... religion."

"Don't worry, my lady. Demiurges and I have made sure to share the light you are with all of them!" Albedo exclaimed happily, as Galadriel couldn't help but grimace at the idea of her being the centre of religion. Still, it didn't matter at the end of the day; however, she'll want to check that religion. Hopefully, no Bible has been written without her consent.

"Now—" Galadriel wanted to speak but felt nauseated; her stomach truly made her realise how bad those morning sicknesses were. She let out a small burp, which embarrassed her. Oh, please don't look at me! Everyone stared at her, which only made her feel more ashamed than before.

"I-" Galadriel looked around nervously. "Mmhm, sorry, I am currently having morning sickness. There is nothing to be worried about. This is natural."

Galadriel explained, humming happily to herself, as the rest of the guardians just nodded as if they were being told the meaning of life.

"I see, I see," Cocytus muttered. "This morning sickness must be a terrifying thing!"

"Truly, I expected nothing less from our lady," Demiurge nodded, at those words. "To be able to combat such illness. It's proof that our lady's child will be incredibly powerful!"

"What's morning sickness?" Mare asked quietly.

"It's when you're sick in the morning," Aura replied.

"What's being sick...?"

"When… uh? I don't know; I've never been sick."

"It's when you're not feeling good enough! That's why it is a sickness!" Shalltear huffed, liking her own answer. "Also, morning sickness only happens when one is pregnant!"

"How do you know that?" Aura asked, frowning.

"Peroroncino wrote about it in his book! Something Breedin-"

"Argh! I don't want to hear it!" Aura exclaimed, putting her hands around Mare's ear.

Galadriel rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile as she slowly stroked her belly. Yeah, this is not really that bad. Albedo sighed, watching the guardians simply speak and once again let their excitement do their chatting. It was clear they were all incredibly happy. But the same could be said about Galadriel, who Albedo noticed was simply leaning back on the throne.

"My lady?" Albedo asked worriedly as Galadriel chuckled.

"Nothing, Albedo. Everything is fine," Galadriel stood up from the throne, bringing everyone's attention. "Let Nazarick know that an heir will soon be among us. A prince or princess, and all would swear the same oath to them as they did to me."

Galadriel proclaimed, knowing that a new state in her life had begun.

The week went by in a flash for Galadriel, who seemed to be a bit stunned that she was still pregnant, but as the morning sickness continued, it became easier for her to endure. However, what truly took her by surprise was that she had strong cravings for certain types of food. Like chicken soup. Simple and normal chicken soup. Still, putting aside her sudden food cravings. Galadriel still had work to do, including the Re-Establish Kingdom's war. However, neither Galadriel nor anyone else in Nazarick would even use the word "war" at all.

A war meant two sides battling each other. This wasn't going to be that. It was going to be a massacre.

Galadriel stood outside the palace on E-Rantel, one that has been underworked. The Demon Empress wanted to make E-Rantel the capital of the world. Of course, that won't happen for a long while, even with them using golems and undead to work. But they wanted to make sure the E-Rantel royal palace would be the grandest piece of architecture in the future. A place, a building, a home worthy of their lady's presence.

Galadriel looked at the long and luxurious carriage. One Albedo would use in order to travel to the Re-Estize Kingdom. What was the reason for her going there? Multiple. One was to allow that crazy princess to start working on her goals of moving the more treasured items from the kingdom to a vault where they would soon be gifted to Nazarick. Then, it was their agent who also found ways to save those worthy enough for the new century; Sebas would lead that. And another one was to see if they could simply point to someone at fault, a scapegoat or something. There were a few others, but the main one was to simply begin the war or destruction of the kingdom.

So, in some cases, Albedo wasn't truly going to declare war just to begin the process of erasing them.

"Remember, so far, the king and the rest of the nobles, who still believe their own delusions, think that the Empire will assist them or that the theocracy will. We have managed to cut off any contact they had with their scouts and messengers; they are blind."

Albedo nodded. "The empire has truly surprised with their sudden... surrender."

Galadriel agreed with it; however, she could see that Emperor Jircniv was perhaps the smartest person in the world. Once he knew what was happening around him, in the south, in the theocracy, and in the Re-Estize Kingdom. He realised that there wasn't a victory in sight. Jircniv simply cut his losses and made a peaceful surrender. Truly, he was a genius. While, soon enough, the Empire would become a sort of vassal state, he would keep his title as emperor, but pretty much bend the knee to the true ruler of the nation, or soon nation to be formed.

"One less worry, but we'll keep an eye out for him, and Rubedo's work will be finished there. She's no longer needed there."

"I think she'll be glad to come back home," Albedo stated happily.

"Yes, but now you're leaving," Galadriel walked towards Albedo, taking her hands and slowly leaning her head on Albedo's neck. "I'm going to be all by myself."

Albedo laughed, slowly kissing Galadriel's forehead. Sorry, my love. I shall be swift and be here as fast as I can."

"Mm," Galadriel hummed. "Albedo, I haven't had the opportunity to ask you this, but what are your thoughts on having a child? Of being a mother, or, technically, the father."

Albedo looked at Galadriel, a bit confused about the question itself, but pondered it. "My lady, my love. This is the happiest moment in my life. There's nothing I wish for more than this." Albedo answered, making Galadriel nod, yet there was still doubt, and Succubus saw it.

"But you know my happiness, my joy. What about yours, my lady? What do you think about all of this?"

Now, it was Galadriel's turn to think clearly about it. She has thought about what makes a mother, well, a mother. The memories of her own mother were only filled with pain, and that's not counting the ones of her father. Yet, from Galadriel's little experience with her mother, she could say that love was one thing she would never forget. It was the only reason why Galadriel's mother didn't leave that abusive man, which was her husband. It was because she loved Galadriel more than the fear or hatred she had for her husband.

Galadriel thought about the type of mother she wanted to be, and the face of the mother who died for her came to her mind. It's been such a long time, but Galadriel still recalled those features. Those sharp and delicate eyebrows, that soft and permanent smile. The cheekbones and green eyes. Truth be told, Galadriel never considered herself beautiful, although that could be because she was very depressed and had zero self-esteem. However, her mother was lovely, at least in her young eyes. Her mother was half-Japanese and half-Canadian, an immigrant from the nation that was hit harder during the war.

How did my father end up with her? I'll never know. Galadriel scoffed internally. However, she would follow her dear mother's example. I'll love you. I will never raise my hand at you. I shall never scream at you about how pathetic you are. I swear in my life that I will never allow you to experience what I did.

Galadriel stared hard at Albedo, and the Succubus was surprised by how hard she was looking at her. Those were the eyes of a mother, one with the power to destroy a world. "I was afraid at first. I worried that I wasn't up to the task. But now, I want nothing but to bring this child into this world."

Galadriel spoke as she brought Albedo's hand to her belly. "Our baby, Albedo. I want the world we are making to be perfect for our offspring. I'll love her, or him, or them. It doesn't matter to me. I will love this child with every fibre of my being."

Albedo's love wouldn't change at all. She thought the same thing as Galadriel. The Succubus would burn the world and rebuild it from the ashes if need be for the child that was soon to come. It was an oath for them both.

"You shall not be alone, my love," Albedo whispered as Galadriel chuckled.

"You better take responsibility. Because I will not have my child brought up without a father...well, yeah, technicalities aside. I want love to be one of the things we share."

Albedo nodded. "Our child shall never know loneliness, nor what being unloved is."

"Never," Galadriel replied, kissing Albedo deeply. "Now, my love. You should go now, so you can be back at my side, where you belong. Next to us."

As Albedo enjoyed such a kiss, her black wings roared in joy. "I shall. My lady, I love you."

Galadriel stared at those golden eyes, and her heart softened. "And I love you, my dear succubus."

Their kiss was cut short as Albedo left on her carriage, waving her goodbyes. Galadriel wondered when she became this soft and quite lovely struck puppy. It didn't matter; Galadriel was happy, truly joyful.

This world has given me everything I ever wanted. And it was not power, wealth, or the ability to fly. But love and a family. Thank you to whatever entity did this. Thank you for giving me a reason to live. Galadriel thought as she walked back to her palace. She still has quite a bit of work ahead of her.

"Now, hopefully, Albedo will find an idiot to use... It's the Re-Estize Kingdom; how hard could it be? To find a stupid person?"

Galadriel muttered, hoping they'd find one soon.

-Philipp the Great!

Yes, Philip is great...
