Chapter 1: No Attachments
At Padmé Amidala's apartment, she is having wine with fellow Senator Rush Clovis.
"So Padmé, tell me." Rush starts. "Your friend General Skywalker, the two of you are close right?"
"Yeah." Padmé answers nervously. "You could say that."
"Why so nervous?" Rush asks. "He's a Jedi, it's not like the two of you could be in a relationship. Though I wouldn't be surprised, considering how quick he is to come rescue you whenever you're in danger."
"Anakin's known me since he was a little boy." Padmé explains. "Of course we'd have a friendship. Jedi have been known to have friendships. Even Obi-Wan Kenobi has friends on Mandalore and even here on Coruscant."
"Hmmm, interesting." Rush says to himself.
"What's interesting?" Padmé asks him
"Nothing, it's just I thought the Jedi were all about no attachments." Rush comments.
"I think it's more they don't want their vision clouded by too many personal matters." Padmé says. "But that's just a theory. There are many as to why Jedi live the way they do. Then again, Skywalker is more of a maverick anyways. Not the most straight-laced Jedi."
"So would you say there is potential for him to be romantic then?" Rush asks.
"Can we not, Rush?" Padmé says sternly. "I'm not looking for anything romantic right now, and frankly I'd like to turn the subject away from the Jedi." She stands up to get herself more wine.
"Very well, Padmé. Sorry if I made you uncomfortable." Rush says with a sorry look on his face. When her back was turned, his frown changed to a smirk. "Then you won't mind if I do what I do next." He thinks to himself.
"Here you go, Clovis." Padmé goes to pour him some more wine, but he motions her not to.
"No more for me thank you." Rush says. "I did bring myself here on the speeder." He chuckles. Padmé chuckles as she pours herself another glass. As she takes a sip, the two of them see Anakin walk into the room.
"Ah, General Skywalker." Rush ecstatically gets up to greet Anakin. "It's good to see you again."
"Good to see you too, Senator." Anakin says. He shakes Rush's hand and smiles, hiding his confusion as to why Rush is so happy to see him.
"General, good to see you." Padmé says, suspicious of Rush's behavior but trying to be polite in front of Anakin.
"Good to see you too, Senator Amidala." Anakin greets, bowing to her.
"He bows to her but has no problem shaking my hand? This will be easier than I thought." Rush thinks to himself.
"How are things in the Senate?" Anakin asks the both of them.
"About the same as usual." Padmé says.
"Agreed. Though I must say, General. I think you and your clones make a bigger impact than I ever could." Rush says, staring into Anakin's eyes though Anakin doesn't notice.
"Thank you for saying so, Rush." Anakin says as Padmé hands him a glass of wine.
"Now General, there is something thing I'd like to ask you." Rush says. "Do you mind if we talk privately?"
"Umm… no." Anakin says standing up. "I don't mind."
"Thank you." Rush stands up and grabs his almost empty glass. He and Anakin walk out of the room. He puts his hand on the small of Anakin's back. Padmé notices this and immediately realizes what Rush is up to. Though angry that Rush would use her to get to Anakin, she is also curious to see how it plays out.
When they are in the hallway, Anakin is uncomfortable with Rush holding him close.
"Is there something I can help you with?" The uncomfortable Jedi asks.
"Well Anakin, I just wanted to tell you how much I admire." Rush answers, finishing off his glass. "You are incredible. For a man your age, you've accomplished and seen so much. I just thinks it's a shame that you Jedi have to remain so distant."
"What are you talking about?" Anakin is very curious as to why the Senator is acting like this.
"Padmé told me about how Jedi have to forego emotional attachments." Rush answers as Anakin nervously drinks his wine. "I just want you to know… I see you and I'm here for you." Anakin drops his glass on the floor when Rush puts a hand on his shoulder.
"What the hell are you talking about?!" Anakin is beyond uncomfortable at this point. "How much have you had to drink?!"
"Not enough where I can't get in a speeder and go for a cruise around the city." Rush says, stroking Anakin's hair. "Just relax." With that, Rush gives a deep, passionate kiss to the young Jedi. Anakin is in too much shock to do anything.
"What the hell are you doing?!" They look over to see Padmé standing in the hallway. Rush lets go of the petrified Anakin.
"It's okay sweetie, I get it." Rush says, putting a hand on Anakin's shoulder.
"DON'T… call me sweetie!" Anakin yells as Padmé comes to his side and holds him close to her.
"Clovis, you need to leave." Padmé demands with barely suppressed anger. "Now."
"Oh, I see what's going on here." Rush says. He then notices one of Anakin's hair on his shoulder, he then puts it in his breast pocket. "Have a good night, General." He winks at Anakin as he walks away.
"Are you okay, Ani?" Padmé asked, holding her husband close to her.
"No!" Anakin replies. "I feel absolutely violated. What is the MATTER with him?! How did you ever like him anyway?!"
"I was young and stupid." Padmé answers. "To be honest, he kept bringing you up in conversation. I thought he was trying to get to me. It wasn't until it was too late that realized what he wanted. I'm so sorry, my love. Is there anything you want me to do?"
"Honestly, I think right now I'm just gonna sit in the tub for a bit and take off. This night didn't go the way I thought it would." Anakin says, walking back into the apartment to cool down.
"I understand, sweetheart." Padmé says. She walks back into the living and plops down on the couch. She takes the bottle of wine and starts to drink from it.
End of the chapter. Definitely one of the more bizarre stories I've thought of for Star Wars. But it's one that'll make y'all laugh by the time it ends.
