Chapter 8
Two state troopers outside the interrogation room at the 29th, as Lieutenant Sid Gormley ordered, 1PP were not taking any chances. After talking with the commissioner, Danny slid his cell phone back into his pocket. Looking through the one-way mirror, Danny saw his Sister-in-law handcuffed and dressed in her orange jumpsuit. He was damn proud of Eddie. She had been subjected to a very professional strip search by her fellow female officers; all those conducting her search thought she had stolen from them. They were allowing her to sober up before Captain Oaks and Lieutenant Best from internal affairs would transfer her to IAB at 1PP and then to Rikers.
Danny was Eddie's only friend at the 2-9; what he had to do now was going to get him suspended. He had to make sure he brought some transdermal Narcan patches to her. Eddie was playing on her supposed cocaine addiction. The likelihood of her having to use actual cocaine was very high. She would do this if it got her near Maria and Elena. Danny and Eddie had chosen not to tell Frank this.
" Badillo, would you like to help me? I need a little chat to know what she has done with Maria and Elena. I am not playing by the book, waiting for her to sober up. I need you and your partner to get me past those two troopers. Are you in?" Danny asked as Badillo walked in.
"Look at her; she is hurting and craving for her next fix," Luis Badillo told Danny as he watched his former partner through the window. "I'm in detective; let me chat with Kasey; how is your little man?"
"Oh, she will pay for that, don't worry." Wrathfully answered Danny, playing his part.
"I will text you when you are clear; just make it quick," Badillo told Danny as he left the room.
Looking at Eddie, he hated what he was about to do, but he was playing his part for the cameras in the interrogation room. He had to be the hot-headed, protective Detective Reagan.
He turned away from the window and checked the skin glue patch he had applied to the outside of the transdermal patch. He intended to stick them on Eddie when he slammed her against the interrogation room wall.

Badillo and Cato had managed to get the two state troopers away from the interrogation room door. Taking the offered opportunity, Danny slipped through the door unnoticed.
"What have you done with Maria and Elena?" He growled into Eddie's ear as he wrenched her from her seat.
"Get the hell off me, detective," yelled Eddie,
"Where is she!" Screamed Danny as he rammed Eddie against the interrogation room door. His back blocked the camera as he slid his fingers under her waistband and pressed the transdermal patches to her thigh.
"Screw you," gasped Eddie; she slammed her forehead into his nose.
Danny staggered back, and blood erupted from his nose. Eddie had held back just enough to make it bleed but not break.
"Help!" Screamed Eddie
"Where is she?" Screamed Danny, who looked furious, blood streaming from his nose.
The interrogation room door burst open. State troopers entered, followed by uniformed members of the precinct. Danny was quickly subdued.
"Detective Reagan, my office now! What the hell do you think you were doing assaulting a handcuffed prisoner in my house?" Ordered an angry Captain McNichols. "Escort him to my office, officers handcuff him if you need to,"
"I want to know where Maria and Elena are, please, Eddie," Danny pleaded as he was dragged from the room.
"Get her out of my house, captain," McNichols told Captain Oaks as she appeared in the doorway.
"Do you need medical attention, Officer Reagan?" Asked McNichols
"Some painkillers would be excellent," Eddie smirked.
"Not happening, Reagan," she smiled, re-cuffing her hands behind her back. "Lieutenant Best, take her to the car. We will get her back to the bureau at 1PP. I think she has caused enough trouble here," Captain Oaks ordered. "Do you want me to ask for assistance to deal with Detective Reagan?"
"No, I will send a report to his commanding officer; he can decide what to do with the commissioner's son." Captain Oaks smiled at her counterpart's diplomatic answer.

Frank looked up as his office door burst open. A flustered Lieutenant Gormley appeared rapidly, yelling into his cell phone.
"What now, Lieutenant? You are making a habit of bursting into my office unannounced," Frank asked, unamused.
"Sorry, boss, Detective Reagan has just assaulted Officer Reagan. They had her cuffed in an interrogation room while she sobered up before they questioned her. As per the instructions of her lawyer." Sid explained quickly. " He is returning to his CO at the 5-4. I believe he is going to be suspended while they investigate the incident. TARU are making copies of the camera footage."
Frank sighed, shaking his head. "I have to let it run its course, and I can't interfere with Detective Reagan; he knew what he was doing was wrong when he entered that interrogation room. What was he thinking?" Frank asked rhetorically, "Have we got anywhere with Detective Baez and her daughter?"
"No, we couldn't question Officer Reagan until she was drug-free. Internal affairs will conduct that interview now once she has arrived here. Her attorney is not happy she was assaulted at the precinct while handcuffed by her Brother-in-law." Sid explained
"Keep me appraised about Detective Baez and her daughter Sid, please." He still felt responsible for Maria's disappearance, and perhaps it was time for him to step down
"Yes Boss,…."

Danny had just had his ass chewed out by his commanding officer. He was now suspended under departmental investigation. He hated having to hand his shield and gun over. It felt like he was missing much of what made him Danny since he lost Linda. The NYPD, Maria and Elena were his everything. Now.
'I know you love her, Danny. You look at her how I used to look at Jamie. Once we find her, man up, Reagan, and tell her.'
Eddie's comment from the other day repeated in his head
'you love her, Danny.
While it would suck, he realised he could live without the NYPD, but Maria and Elena were an integral part of his life. He needed to get them both back. He promised to tell her how much he cared about her and wanted to be her partner in everything and be a father to Elena.
Danny answered his phone without checking who was calling. He already knew it was his father.
"Detective Reagan, how's the nose?" Frank asked, "Care to explain what you two were doing?"
"Sore, I had to get something to Eddie; there is something we didn't tell you because we both knew you would say no. We changed our plan a little; Maria changed things for us and Eddie….." Danny paused, deciding how much to tell his father
"I don't want to know, do I?" He asked, having a clue what they had concocted
"Depends who is asking my boss or my father?" Replied Danny
"The commissioner," Frank tried.
"No," answered Danny
"Your father?" He tried again
"Hell No," he laughed.
"Copy that; I don't want to lose her, Daniel. Jameson couldn't live without her, and I think Pops would Lynch the pair of us," Frank laughed.

Eddie twisted a little, trying to get comfortable, but her back hurt. Danny had slammed her into the door a little too hard. She saw Captain Oaks glaring at her through the rearview mirror as Lieutenant Best drove.
"Painful, Reagan? I bet you want a little nose candy?" Laughed Captain Oaks
"This isn't the way to 1PP." Announced Eddie
"We're not going to 1PP Edit." She announced as she turned to face Eddie. "You're going for a bit of vacation,"
Before she could say anything, the metal prongs of a taser entered her chest. Her body exploded in pain as the electricity flowed through her body. After a while, she lost consciousness and slumped down.
"She will be out for around twenty minutes; let's get her transferred," Oakes told her partner as she dropped the taser onto the back seat next to Eddie.
BB
"About time," laughed Lieutenant Best as Eddie regained her senses
"Where am I? What are you going to do with me?" Asked Eddie
She looked around. She seemed to be in some abandoned building, still in the back seat of the IAB car.
'Pop, pop,'
Red mist exploded from Best's forehead, and his dead body dropped to the floor.
"He should have kept his mouth shut," Captain Oaks told Eddie, the noise suppressor attached to her weapon still smoking. "He was trying to get out and told a reporter about our little Cabal. We couldn't let that happen. You, Officer Reagan, are now a murderer; you killed poor Lieutenant Best during your escape after choking me out and stealing my service weapon. We will keep you somewhere out of the way, as high as a kite, until we need you to be found. Dead, of course, from an overdose. Best could have been a big problem, but discovering your little addiction." She laughed. "Doc thought it was a set-up at first until we discovered the hidden camera footage of you snorting cocaine with your dealer. I checked the lab results on your hair. You have been a naughty little Reagan. What would your husband and Father-in-law think?"
Eddie had never been so thankful for the drug addict Danny had found to supply the hair sample he switched out with her hair sample. Frank had been spot on; Jamie would have been killed.
Eddie was pulled from the seat and dragged to the hood of the car. She knew this might happen. The Narcan patch she had on her thigh would help negate some of the narcotic effects of the cocaine on the glass tile sitting on the hood of the car. Now she just needed and hoped Maria and Elena were being kept wherever they took her. She was indeed on her own, flying by the seat of her pants.
"Time for your medicine, Reagan," smirked Oakes as she forced Eddie's head down and pushed—the metal straw into her nose.
Knowing if she hesitated, she would be killed, she sniffed and felt the powder enter her nose. A wave of euphoria spread throughout her body.
"What a waste; why would something that pretty shove that shit up her nose?" The state trooper asked as he approached
"Uncuff her and get her to the asylum; let's get this done," Oakes ordered
Captain Oaks struggled, trying to rip the handcuff chain from around her neck as she was being choked out. After four minutes, her unconscious body was dropped to the floor. Tossing Eddie's handcuffs next to her, the state troopers drove off.
