Trini Kwan walked into Ernie's Juice Bar and found the owner behind the bar where he was often seen. He was chatting up a group of high school students on one end of the bar.

"Hey, Trini," Ernie said. "Your order is almost ready. The new guy Richie is putting it together now."

"Sounds good," Trini said. Ernie stepped into the back to grab her order the moment it was finished. Trini had met Ernie at the beginning of the school year when the juice bar hosted the after-party for the incoming freshmen at Angel Grove High. She had attended the party with her two closest friends Kimberly and Jason, who were on the verge of becoming a couple. She wasn't sure why they hadn't made anything official yet. The three had been friends since the beginning of junior high. It was at the after party where they met Zack, who got people dancing and Billy, who was the victim of a pair of bullies and was rescued by Trini and her friends.

"What's up, Trini?" the boy sitting on the stool next to her asked. Trini gave him a warm smile. Ryan and his twin sister Riley were eating lunch at the bar.

"Hey guys," Trini said. "I'm just waiting for my order. My mom and I are heading to that martial arts competition up in San Francisco. I'm surprised you two aren't going considering your background in martial arts."

"Never really got into doing it competitively," Riley said.

"I can respect that," Trini said. "I'm not in it myself but Jason is."

"I'm sure he'll kick some ass up there," Ryan said.

Trini laughed. "I think so too."

The new guy Ernie mentioned brought out two bags and set them on the counter in front of Trini. Richie was written on his name tag. "Here's your order."

Trini smiled at him. "Thanks. How much?"

"Uhh...ten even."

Trini gave him the money. They stared at each other for a few moments before she grabbed the bags to leave.

"Bye, guys." Ryan watched Trini turn the corner into the hallway.

"Looks like you've got some competition," Riley said after Richie walked off. "They definitely smiled at each other for too long."

"Richie is a punk," Ryan said. "There's nothing special about him. He's boring as hell."

Trini and her mother drove through Angel Grove on their way to the highway. Suddenly, something slammed into a nearby two-story building causing all of the windows of the building to blow out and a small explosion from a ruptured gas line.

"What was that?" Trini's mom asked. People screamed and ran while others stood around and watched. Trini jumped out of the car and sprinted to the building ignoring her mother's commands to get back in the car.

Trini weaved around people as she approached the scene. The building was vacant so no one should've been inside. It had once been some business firm but that had relocated at the beginning of summer. Trini wasn't sure why it had relocated but she had heard rumors it was in relation to the riots in LA and the owners were worried the riots would somehow start up here.

People had crowded around what looked like a body. Trini maneuvered around the people to see a young Asian girl on the ground. She noticed no one was trying to help. She knelt down next to the girl and saw she was still breathing. Trini wondered what had happened as it looked like this was the only casualty.

She had never seen this girl before but there was definitely a familiar feel about her.

The Time Fire ranger had powered down once she hit the ground. She and Minh had materialized high in the air and a swift kick to the head sent Minh tumbling down into the city. The red ranger had no real control of her own descent. The kick-off from the yellow ranger had sent her in another direction. As luck would have it, there were no bystanders around when she slammed into the ground. She didn't want to deal with the attention of people noticing a Japanese girl appearing from the bushes where a ranger had just landed.

Now that she thought about it, she hadn't noticed any signs of destruction in the city. Granted, she wasn't looking for it but it didn't look like there had been any zord battles.

She pressed a button on her morpher. "Where am I?"

"Angel Grove," a female robotic voice said.

"When?"

"1992."

"A year before the rangers were created," she said to herself. She rubbed her chin thinking of a plan. She thought about going to the command center but that idea was impossible as she didn't know its location. She figured the yellow ranger would've gone there by now and she'd be at a disadvantage. But then she had another idea. Rita Repulsa.

The girl morphed back into Time Fire and pressed the teleporation button on her morpher. Red light swirled around her before engulfing her and sending her up into the sky.

Moments later, she materialized on Mars. Her morpher beeped as it detected an unnatural object several hundred meters behind her. She sprinted in that direction; her suit giving her a speed boost. She slowed to a walk when she spotted the object that was oddly called a space dumpster. If anything, it looked more like a trash can. On the lid, a red jewel sparkled and the seal incantations that circled the lid glowed.

She grabbed the jewel and ripped it from the container. The lid popped off with four orbs of light emerging from it. Each one was one of Rita's minions. Then Rita herself emerged. She was a bit disoriented but her senses snapped once she realized there was a power ranger nearby. She aimed her wand at the ranger and fired. The red ranger dodged the attack and then held her hands up.

"Wait, I'm not here to fight."

"Then what are you here for?"

"I want to ally myself with you."

"It's a trick," Goldar said. "Zordon wants to destroy you."

"I have no allegiance to Zordon," the ranger said. "I have a personal vendetta against one of his rangers."

"And you want my help to destroy them. What do I get in return?"

"You help me kill my target and I'll help you take over the Earth. If you attack now, the Earth will not be able to stop you."

"Why now?"

"I'm from the future. I released you a year earlier than when you were originally freed. At that time, Zordon was able to recruit his rangers. However, those people are unavailable to be recruited at this moment. This is the best moment to strike."
