"Zordon, is there no way to penetrate that shield?" Minh asked.

"I'm afraid not. Rita's magic is very powerful."

Minh huffed as she turned away from him. She noticed her mother was still trying to process everything. She still hadn't told her everything, including the fact that she was her mother.

"So, let me get this straight. You're from the future and a Power Ranger. In your time, me and my friends were rangers but you and I have the same powers."

"Yeah, the powers were passed to me," Minh said. "You chose me to be your successor." It wasn't technically a lie. The morpher didn't work for her at first until she stepped in front of Rita's attack. The other rangers concluded that despite the morpher being in working order, Trini's soul was inside the morpher and had disabled the morpher. It was as though she would not allow her daughter to become a ranger until she had proven herself capable.

"You and I must've been pretty close if I chose you to take over for me."

"You could say that," Minh said. "You trained me how to fight." Minh wasn't sure how much longer she could keep this up. Trini was a smart woman and knowing Minh's last name, she had to have made the connection by now. If she did then she was hiding it well.

"So, how do we find new rangers?" Trini asked.

"We'll have to go out and find them ourselves," Minh said. "I don't know who knows how to fight except for you and the others. This is gonna be tough."

The alarm went off startling the two women. "What is that?" Trini asked.

"It's the alarm," Alpha said as he headed for the viewing globe. "Rita's forces are headed into the residential area of Angel Grove."

"They're near the Youth Center," Trini said.

"All those refugees," Minh said. "They'll be slaughtered." She looked at her mother. "Let's go."

"I'm not sure I'll know what to do," Trini said pulling the morpher from her pocket.

"Don't worry, it'll come to you." Minh put her hand behind her back. "IT'S MORPHIN' TIME!"

"SABERTOOTH TIGER!" they said in unison.

The two yellow rangers teleported to the youth center where Rita's forces had already entered. Trini ran inside to defend the civilians while Minh remained outside. She pulled out her blade blaster and took out several putties to give herself some room before switching to her power daggers and going to work.

Inside, Trini didn't have the luxury of using any weapons as it was close-quarters combat with civilians in the mix. There were far too many putties for Trini to prevent them from attacking civilians. She wanted help from Minh but she was busy keeping more putties from entering.

While she slammed a putties face into the wall and kicked another, she noticed Tessie, Ernie's blonde waitress was fighting the putties too. It wasn't just her, there was a guy near the weights throwing punches and kicks to protect others. Trini wondered if maybe they could become rangers too.

The three of them were able to take down the putties inside the youth center. Trini saw Minh still fighting a large number through the window.

"Hey, do you think you two can come outside and help fight?" The two immediately agreed and joined Trini as she ran outside.

"Inside is clear," Trini said. "These two helped and I asked them to help out here."

"I'm glad they can help," Minh said kicking a putty across the face, flipping it to the ground.

"Hey, you guys want some more help," another guy said running up. He was followed by another blond-haired girl. They joined the fray showing their own martial arts prowess.

The six of them were able to take down the putties without much difficulty. The four civilians were bruised and bloodied and breathing heavily.

The two guys bent over with their hands on their knees as they panted. They looked at each other and laughed.

"Good job out there," one said.

"You too, man."

"I didn't know you studied martial arts."

"I'm a bit rusty but it kinda came back to me as I was fighting. But the real surprise is the girls. They don't look light fighters."

"Christen is a scrapper. She and I grew up together and studied karate together."

"Are you two together?"

"No, we're just friends."

"But you want to me more?" he asked with a smile to show he was just joking with him. "I'm Will."

"Evan."

The girl with Evan walked over. "I'm Christen."

"You all know me," Tessie said. "I see you guys all the time in the juice bar."

"Thanks for the assist," Minh said. She looked at Trini. "I think we found the rest of the team."

"Looks like it," Trini said nodding despite it feeling off. She was sad she wasn't going to have her closest friends on her team like the way Minh originally described but the situation didn't allow for such luxuries.

Minh looked to the four civilians not sure how to even bring up the proposition. "There's something I want to ask you but I don't think I can explain it well."

"What is it?" Christen asked.

"Well...it's better if I just show you." She lifted her wrist to her mouth. "Alpha, can you teleport the six of us to the command center? I think I found some recruits."

The six of them disappeared in crackling columns of colored light. Moments later they were in the main chamber of the command center. Zordon and Alpha let the shock wear off before getting down to business. Trini and Minh stayed morphed just in case the group didn't want to be rangers.

"First," Zordon said. "I want to thank you for your bravery in helping defend against Rita and her forces. The offer I'm about to extend can be declined. Do not feel you must take it but I must express the importance of these roles. Right now, your world is under attack by a witch named Rita Repulsa. The weapons of your world are not enough against her."

"Let me guess," Will said. "Because we fought off those creatures, you're asking us to be your soldiers and fight this witch?"

"Not soldiers. Rangers. You will be Power Rangers. You will be given special powers and abilities to protect your world. Again, you are free to decline but for us to be successful we need a full team. There are currently five power coins, one of which is already spoken for."

"Will we all be yellow and look like that?" Christen asked.

"No, each ranger is a different color," Zordon said.

"Then…?"

"I'm from the future. These powers were passed to me by her. In the future, I mean."

"Wait," Evan said. "If you're from the future, then you know what's going to happen. Are we all rangers in the future?"

Minh looked up at Zordon apologetically for opening this can of worms but he couldn't see her face behind her helmet. She surmised it was unavoidable.

"No, there were others who were supposed to be rangers. She is the only one who is supposed to be a ranger. The problem is that the others are outside of the dome and we're cut off from the outside world."

"So, what you're saying is we fight and win and then we give these powers to they belong to."

"No, you can keep the coins," Minh said. "Right, Zordon?"

"Right. We are asking you to become rangers because you have shown the potential to be heroes and save the world."

"Wouldn't we be changing history?" Tessie asked.

"History has already been changed," Minh said. "Rita wasn't supposed to be released until next year. And we don't have a choice. If you don't become Rangers, we won't win. The two of us can't do this alone."

The four of them looked at each other as they thought about it. They all nodded.

"Okay, let's do this," Evan said.

Zordon guided the four remaining morphers through the air to the person he felt was best suited for those particular powers. Christen was given the Pterodactyl coin. Will got the Mastodon coin. Tessie got the Triceratops and Evan took the Tyrannosaurus.

Rita stood on the balcony of her newly constructed palace that had been put together using buildings from downtown Angel Grove. She marveled at the chaos below. Screams echoed through the palace's terror-inducing corridors. Finster worked tirelessly to create new golum soldiers from the people they had captured. The people in the buildings that were used to create the palace were transformed into the first wave of golums that were sent out to terrorize Angel Grove. She needed more. Goldar, Squatt and Baboo were out collecting more people for Finster.

The Ranger leaned against the wall with her arms crossed. Even behind the helmet, Rita could see she wasn't pleased with how things were playing out.

"Problems?" Rita asked.

"Just that we haven't found who I'm looking for yet."

"Did you expect we'd find them when we first attacked?"

"Actually, yes. I thought they'd try and stop us but I haven't seen them."

Goldar appeared in a fiery flash holding a human male. He threw him to the ground.

"What are you doing?" Rita asked.

"This human has some information that may interest you." He pointed his sword at the cowering human. "Tell them who you were yelling for to come and save you."

"The two yellow heroes that saved me earlier," the man said. He hoped his life would be spared if he cooperated."

"Two?" the Ranger asked.

The man nodded. "They kinda looked like you but yellow."

"Minh must've found her mom. Damn it." Out of frustration, she kicked the man over the railing of the balcony and sent him plummeting down to the ground.

"There's only two," Rita said. "You can handle two right, Goldar?"

"Of course," he said before disappearing in the same fiery light that announced his entrance.

"You better hope your dome doesn't break."

"Don't question my magic."

"I'll question it until it does its job, Witch. In my time, the Rangers repeatedly beat you and your magic so you'll have to excuse my lack of faith in it. And if that dome breaks before we finish our job then it'll be a problem."
