"Ash, hey, is everything alright?" Tracey asked, looking a bit frazzled.

"Yeah. Sorry I forgot Professor Oak was doing research here in Johto, are you doing okay?" Ash asked.

"I'm, I'm fine." Tracey said. "How can I help you though?"

"I was hoping you could take a Pokemon for me." Ash said. "I got a new Pokemon a while back a Wobbuffet, but every time I use him in battle, it just seems a little one sided." Ash admitted.

"No I fully understand that." Tracey said. "Feel free to send him over." Tracey continued, looking behind him momentarily.

"Tracey what's going on, is now a bad time?" Ash asked.

"The water types and grass types are fighting for turf and I'm at my wit's end about this right now." Tracey sighed. "Professor Oak had been keeping the peace for a while, but he trusted me to take care of the lab and I'm just not much of a negotiator."

"Is there anything I can do to help?" Ash asked.

"No, not much can be done from here, and please don't let Professor Oak know that I'm struggling." Tracey said. "Wait, I just thought of something."

"Yeah, what is it?" Ash asked.

"Didn't you say Bulbasaur used to be a protector of a hidden village of Pokemon?" Tracey asked.

"Yeah, back before I caught him, why?" Ash asked.

"Do you think I could borrow him for a bit, just long enough to return peace and thenI'll send him right back, I swear." Tracey pleaded.

"You want to borrow Bulbasaur?" Ash asked, pulling out a second Pokeball. "Yeah I guess I can help with that, especially for you and the Professor."

"Thank you Ash, this means a lot." Tracey said.

"Of course, I'm sending Wobbuffet first, and then I'll send over Bulbasaur." Ash said, activating the transfer machine.

A few minutes later out back of Professor Oak's Lab

"Alright, Bulbasaur, Wobbuffet welcome to the lab!" Tracey said, sending the two out. "Okay Bulbasaur, I need your help trying to settle a dispute between the grass and water types, do you think you can handle that?"

"Bulba!" Bulbasaur said assuredly.

Switch to Bulbasaur's POV

"What happened, where are we, who is that?" Wobbuffet said a bit panicked.

"Relax, we were sent to Professor Oak's lab in Pallet Town, that's Tracey and his Mario." Bulbasaur explained.

"Why did Ash send us here, weren't we good?" Wobbuffet asked.

"We were fine, look I can't hold your hand about this right now, I was brought here to help out." Bulbasaur said, heading towards the pond.

"But what about me? Why am I here? What about me?!" Wobbuffet exclaimed.

At the lakefront

"Okay time to figure out what's going on here." Bulbasaur said, approaching the water.

"Hey! Hey! Hold it!" Kingler said, scuttling out of the water.

"Kingler what's going on?" Bulbasaur asked.

"Bulbasaur my friend, it's good to see you, perhaps you can talk some sense into these other grass types." Kingler said.

"I'm not sure what's going on, can you tell me?" Bulbasaur asked.

"Gladly, they're encroaching on our land and making it impossible for us land dwelling water types to enjoy the lake." Kingler said.

"Grass types are normally strong against water types, it is possible they're using that to their advantage." Bulbasaur said thinking.

"Don't listen to him, he's the worst!" A Bellsprout argued walking over.

"Hey stay out of this, we're handling it!" Kingler argued.

"Alright calm down, what do you mean he's the worst." Bulbasaur said.

"He'll attack us as soon as we get close, we grass types need the fresh water to you know!" Bellsprout argued to Kingler.

"We'll find your own!" Kingler argued. "My pal Bulbasaur is here to make you listen."

"Kingler." Bulbasaur said hesitantly.

"You're not even on our side, how is this fair?!" The Bellsprout argued.

"I never said I was on one side." Bulbasaur responded.

"So you're not even siding with me, we're old war buddies!" Kingler argued.

"We've been in two fights together, we're not war buddies." Bulbasaur pointed out.

"Typical grass type, just wanting what's best for themselves." Kingler said.

"Just hold on both of you!" Bulbasaur said using his vines to push the two back just enough to give him space. "Kingler have the grass types ever actually attacked the water types?"

"Huh?" Kingler asked in confusion.

"The grass types have they ever attacked?" Bulbasaur asked.

"Well, no I suppose not, but all their splashing frightens some of the smallins." Kingler argued.

"And have you explained that to any of them?" Bulbasaur asked.

"No, he just gets on the offense as soon as any of us get close!" The Bellsprout argued.

"Hey if you didn't cause such a ruckus!" Kingler countered.

"Enough!" Bulbasaur said. "One at a time, now Kingler have you or the others tried talking to the grass types."

"We did, but when we came out they said they have all the rights to being at the pond as we do!" Kingler said.

"Okay, who said that?" Bulbasaur asked.

"T'was an Vileplume!" Kingler said, raising his larger pincer.

"Okay, Bellsprout can you take us to visit the Vileplume?" Bulbasaur asked.

"You want me to take him too?" Bellsprout asked looking at Kingler.

"A representative of both sides is key to finding peace." Bulbasaur said.

"Alright, but his pincers stay shut." The Bellsprout argued.

"I only attack those who threaten!" Kingler countered.

"BULBASAURRRRRRR!" Wobbuffet exclaimed running to the trio in tears.

"Who's the new blood?" Kingler asked.

"Johto member, from what I can tell he's powerful too, if a little slow at times." Bulbasaur said.

"I was so worried, you ran off and I tried to follow when I saw these angry Pokemon charging around." Wobbuffet said.

"Ahh the Tauros troops." Kingler said proudly.

"And they sent me flying into someone really smelly." Wobbuffet said.

"Muk more than likely." Bulbasaur said.

"And then a friendly giant cleaned me off before sending me this way." Wobbuffet said.

"Snorlax." Bulbasaur and Kingler said in unison.

"Well you're here, might as well come along." Bulbasaur said as the trio of Ash's Pokemon followed Bellsprout.

A short walk later

"Bellsprout I see you have returned, have the water types agreed to let us use the pond." A Vileplum said.

"Not yet, they have requested to speak about the conflict." The Bellsprout said.

"There is nothing to speak about, they do not own the pond." Vileplume said.

"Hey a lot of us need that water you can't just say we don't own it!" Kingler argued, scuttling in.

"Intruder!" Vileplume exclaimed.

"Stop it both of you!" Bulbasaur said, putting vines up without striking either. "Kingler you agreed to try and talk this out, Vileplume at least hear him out this time."

"Listen to that one, as if he has anything worthwhile to say." Vileplume said.

"I agree!" Kingler said, before the two fired off a Hyper Beam respectively.

"Wobbbuuu." Wobbuffet shuddered as both attacks hit him before launching away.

"Alright now listen!" Bulbasaur snapped. "Kingler you and the others can't rule over every aspect of the pond, and Vileplume when they try to talk to you about that, remember that there are water types that need water to live in, they can't just leave at any time."

"But!" Kingler argued.

"And if you have little ones near the surface let them know, you like the beach anyways!" Bulbasaur reminded. "And Vileplume, please be courteous in response, we all live here and need to do so in harmony, or at least civility."

"Fine." Both agreed.

"Can we not go on that ride again?" Wobbuffet asked a little dazed.

"I suppose it can't hurt to have someone strong like you on our side." Kingler said, scuttling over to Vileplume.

"And if you have Pokemon that need to stay in the water, we should be more courteous in the future." Vileplume said. "But if you try to attack us."

"It'll only be in retaliation to yer own onslaught!" Kingler said.

Later that day

"How's it going Tracey?" Ash asked.

"It's better, but Bulbasaur might need to stay here until Professor Oak gets back, is that okay?" Tracey asked.

"Yeah, just take care of him for me, alright?" Ash asked.

"Of course Ash, you know I will." Tracey said as the two said goodbye.
