Chapter 2: How This and How That

It was another shiny and shimmery day in the crystal dimension. Jake was sitting on a slightly worn down leather chair by the window in the living room, sipping a cup of joe and letting out a satisfied sigh each time he'd lower the cup from his yellow jowls. After taking in the view of the crystal landscape through the living room, he turned his head back towards the center of the living room where his family was gathered around. Lady's parents were lounging in side by side rocking chairs, listening to the daily radio. Jake's children were spread throughout the home, partaking in their own leisure activities as well. Jake Jr. was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast with Lady. A lovely aroma traveled into the living room where the yellow canine sat, filling his nose.

Due to his keen sense of smell, he could immediately tell that there was going to be a classic course of bacon and eggs along with a side of bagels, that had what Jake could only guess would be cream cheese.

The sniffer never fails me. He thought with a strange sense of silly pride. He was a dog even if he wasn't a normal dog so of course picking out the finest details of a food, far away person, or something underground which needed to be dug up was all too easy for him. In response to the smell, his stomach began to loudly grumble like it was a ravenous creature in itself.

"Ahh quiet down you old gut." Jake sunk into the chair as he protested against his rather loud stomach. Bringing the coffee back up to his face helped to cancel out the distracting smell of breakfast. A hardy bout of laughter shot out from the kitchen shortly after, causing Jake to perk up his ears. His head stretched from his shoulders, slithering about through the living room and into the kitchen where he was met with the sight of his all too lovely wife and daughter. Snapping her head around while taking a saucepan off the stove, Jake Jr. walked towards Jake's peering head, waving her arms back and forth.

"Ah ah ah! No hungry dads in the kitchen!"

"What!? I've never even heard of that rule."

"That's because I just made it up. I can literally hear your stomach from the kitchen dad."

"Hey I was just coming in here to say hello to my wife and daughter. You shouldn't get on your father's buns for wanting to socialize."

"Annnd…. You're not in here to totes sneak a piece of bacon?" Jake Jr. was resting her hands upon her hips while looking at him. She didn't exactly have typical facial features, but Jake could tell she wasn't buying it. Meanwhile, one of Jake's hands was already stretched into the kitchen behind Jake Jr. while she had her attention on him. His sneaky digits trailed up towards the counter where the pan of bacon was lying.

"I would never! Who do you take me for? A thief?" Jake said with a mock look of offense at his daughter's accusation. As if possessing some sort of sixth sense, Jake Jr. flipped around, picked up a spatula from near the stove and smacked the top of Jake's bacon thieving hand the same way a strict teacher would smack a student on the hand with a ruler.

"Ouchie!" Jake's hand retracted away from the pan and back towards where his head was in the kitchen. He squinted his eyes at Jake Jr.

"I would say my new rule holds up. You done donked up."

"Hey you can't blame me. My hand has a mind of its own. It's like my stomach takes control of my body when I'm hungry."

"Sure dad sure." Jake Jr. laughed as she leaned in and gave her father a hug before turning around back towards the stove. Meanwhile, Lady pulled her head out from the fridge. She set down some condiments on the counter and turned towards the two rough housers in the kitchen. The look upon her face was soft yet stern.

"두 분 다 진정하세요. 아침 식사가 거의 다 끝났어요. 제가 식탁 차리는 것을 도와주실 수 있나요?"

"Oh ya I can do that. Anything for you love." Jake's head stretched towards Lady until they were face to face. They kissed one another, causing Jake Jr. to stick her tongue out in fake disgust at the sight.

"Ya dad go help set the table! I'm trying to keep my appetite here, not have it skronked up by a smooch show!"

Jake retracted his head from the kitchen along with his hand which still had a slight sting to it, laughing on his way out. Once all of his appendages had returned to his body, he sat up from the chair and headed towards the dining room. Some of the kids were still asleep, namely T.V. and Charlie. Kim Kil Whan would still be in the living room, typing away at his work laptop. Jake swore that Kim Kil Whan lived and breathed work and wished he'd take more time to relax, but if that's what made his son happy then who was he to interfere. Viola was still in her room, but Jake knew she was already awake considering that she could be heard rehearsing some lines for an upcoming show she had.

Thinking about how all of his kids had grown up so fast doing what they loved whether it be business, acting, detective work, music, committing heists… well Jake already sorted that out with Jake Jr. It still brought him a smidge of pride that she took after him so much. Stepping into the dining room, Jake began opening various cupboards and setting the table with plates, napkins, silverware, etc. Once he was finished, he pressed his hands against his lower back, causing it to crack as he let out a strained sigh.

"Man, I'm getting old." He said to no one in particular. His gaze shifted to some family photos hanging on the wall near the table. One was of Lady and her parents when she was young. Another was of Lady's parents sitting with her and Jake's pups when they were still 'pups'. The third photo was of everyone together when the kids were all grown up. Jake could be seen stretching his arms around his family with the happiest look on his face.

He felt so grateful for everything. Life had brought an amazing woman into his life and together they had created a family which he had cherished with all his heart. He had been looking forward to this get together for quite some time now and now that they are all together everything felt just right.

Something in Jake's subconscious tugged at his heart however. The 'whole' family was together…. Or was it? If anything it felt like something was missing ever since Jake had come to visit Lady's parents. It was then that he knew exactly what, or more so, who it was.

Finn….

Jake was sitting beside Lady at the dining room table while her parents sat across from them. Kim Kil Whan sat at one end of the table with Viola taking a corner seat near him and Jake Jr. sat at the other end. T.V. and Charlie walked into the dining room, stretching their arms and yawning. After everyone was situated, the food began passing around.

Talk and laughter filled the room which was met by the satisfied mumbles of those who were getting a mouthful of breakfast. Jake would usually partake in all of the energy. Sure he contributed to the conversation and licked his plate clean, satisfying his stubborn gut, but his mind was somewhere else, thinking of someone who he wished was here. Afterall, that missing someone was just as much his family as everyone else present. Lady seemed to have taken notice of Jake's distant expression. She placed an arm on his shoulder, snapping him out of his stupor.

"무슨 일이야 내 사랑? 오늘 아침에 당신은 단지 한 접시의 음식을 마쳤습니다." Her expression was one of concern.

Jake let out a sigh and set his fork down on his empty plate as he looked up at Lady.

"Ohh I'm fine honey. It's just that I kinda miss my bro… He's family too, you know?"

"You mean Uncle Finn? Didn't you invite him to come hang out for the week?" T.V. posed his question, lowering his gaming device for a second to address his father.

"Ya I did, but he said that it would be best if he stuck around in Ooo in case he needed to take care of any serious hero biz and what not. I've just been kind of worried about him lately. Well actually…. he's just been sort of closed off for a while now and I can't really figure out what's up with him. Don't get me wrong, he's still the same high energy and adventurous brother that I grew up with, kicking buts and being a goofball." His fists inflated as he started punching the air to match his enthusiastic description of Finn.

"Outside of the fighting and quest stuff though, he just seems out of it…. I don't know if it's something that happened recently and he just doesn't want to spill the beans about it or if it's something else that's been going on for a while now." His arms deflated and fell upon the table like spaghetti. Jake looked back down at his plate, pursing his lips as if trying to seek the answers to his problems in the empty dish.

Viola finished taking a sip from her tea before chiming in on the conversation.

"Dad, have you tried asking him about it? It could be something sensitive for him and maybe that's why he's closing himself off."

"I agree. It doesn't really sound like Uncle. Every time I've seen you two together, you'd both be rather 'jolly'."

Jake knew that Kim Kil Whan was miserably attempting to avoid saying "childish", but didn't pay his son's disapproval any mind.

"I did try asking him a few times and every time I would, he would deflect or try to steer the conversation elsewhere! He keeps trying to reassure me that he's fine. I don't think he understands that I know him better than anyone. I definitely know that Finn's got junk he's dealing with." Jake crossed his arms and scrunched his eyebrows. Nobody at the table really knew how to respond. Jake realized that he might have soured the mood at the table a bit and tried to salvage it.

"Sorry about that, everyone. I just get protective over Finn sometimes. Let's dig in shall we?"

Jake stretched his arms around the table, filling his plate with more food, tucking away his troubled thoughts of his brother for now.

"So that pretty much sums it all up. Pretty crazy stuff am I right?."

Finn laid on his side in the soft grass of the forest, propping his head up with his arm as he finished telling his story to Huntress who had simply sat there for the past ten minutes, taking in every word he had told her. While he had told his story, the appearance of her face would slowly shift from one of attentive calmness to one of slight bafflement and disbelief. There was a minute where she simply sat there, processing what he said while the only thing adding any sound was the river right next to them along with soft wind rustling the leaves of various trees and other flora surrounding them.

"So let me get this straight. You're the reincarnation of a cosmic entity that was meant to bring great change to the world we live in?"

"Yup"

"And not only are you the reincarnation of said thing, but you are also one of multiple incarnations before you?... And you have been seeing one of them?"

"Correctomundo."

Huntress wizard leaned forward, studying Finn with her emerald gaze.

"Finn…. that's absolutely bizonkers."

"Ya….. I know. It's kinda hard to believe I guess…." Finn began to fumble with the ears on top of his hat. He felt like he was crazy for expecting Huntress to just believe him. Immediately though, she raised her hand like she was trying to halt any thought that Finn was brewing in his head.

"No I didn't mean that I don't believe you. It's just….. Wow. That's a lot of baggage dude and I mean the crazy kind of baggage."

"Wait….. So you really believe me?"

Huntress Wizard scooted up to him and placed her hand on his, causing Finn to tense up slightly. His tensness was short-lived. The soothing sensation of her hand made him relax his shoulders as his eyes trailed from her hand back to her face. Her gentle expression, matched by the eye contact made Finn's cheeks warm up.

"Of course I believe you Finn. I already knew you were an exceptional beast, so honestly I wouldn't have expected less."

Finn wanted to lean in and kiss her right then and there. The most wonderful and soft smile painted her features along with what he could have sworn was a hint of mischief in her eyes which only egged him on further. He slowly began to lean in, closing the distance between them.

"So hey! You didn't finish your story man."

Finn jolted back and quickly swerved his head around in an aggravated manner, trying to locate the source of the interruptive voice. It was then that a small aquatic creature entered Finn's field of vision, its head breaching the water of the river. Focusing on the creature, Finn realized that the little guy resembled one of the Woobeewoo villagers he and Jake came into contact with in the past.

"...Excuse me?..."

"Your story man! You still didn't explain how all this comet junk connects to the Shoko lady."

"W-When did you even get here?! How long have you been there?!"

Huntress Wizard began to chuckle at the sight of Finn's baffled irritation.

"Look man, I'm just a fishy fish with legs alright? Life ain't too eventful for me, so when I see or hear some interesting biz I take the bait, you dig?"

"That doesn't mean you should…. Ughhhh you know what, forget it." Finn said in defeat as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I'm interested too, you know. How does it all connect?" The tone of Huntress's voice was as playful as her smirk. Finn relented and formed a giddy smile in return.

"Well like I said earlier, Shoko was one of my past lives I guess and somehow I found a way to look into the memories of her and all of my other past lives through the vault. What had me all donked up earlier was the fact that I saw her… She was just standing there, looking at me like I needed to be doing something." Finn rolled onto his back, letting the soft grass tickle the back of his neck while he let a long sigh escape his lungs.

"Well, I guess there's only two important things to focus on then."

"What's that?"

"Well first you need to find out how she's able to make contact with you like that. Secondly, how do you find out what she wants?" She waved her hand about in various meaningless gestures while she talked.

"Literally what I was going to bring up!"

Finn and Huntress eyed the little fish for a second, half acknowledging his comments. Finn sat up and brought his legs to his chest. His smile was replaced by a perturbed expression.

"Maybe I should just forget about it….. There's no guarantee that this is anything significant right? But, at the same time, there was that crazy dream I had last night. I can't even remember what it was about and yet…. It just makes me really uncomfortable thinking about it. Something tells me it's not a coincidence. How do I even go about solving this?

"Right there's the dream you mentioned too. Finn, I don't think this is something you should just ignore. I'm sure there is a way you can get to the bottom of it." She tapped her chin a few times like she was thinking of what to say next. She then pointed her finger at him.

"Who else have you told about thi–"

Their conversation was immediately cut off by a plethora of howls that filled the forest. It sounded like a pack of wolves.

"Yep IM OUT!" The fish dipped back under the water and swam away.

Huntress let out a growl and stood up off the ground, followed by Finn who did the same.

"Wolves?"

Huntress turned her head towards Finn while drawing her bow, telekinetically pulling an arrow from her quiver at the same time.

"Not just any wolves….. How Wolves."

Huntress quickly ran through the forest towards the origins of the howling as if she knew how to get there by instinct. Finn ran closely behind her. Much of the training he received from Huntress paid off, but she was still a challenge to keep up with.

"What the bjork are How Wolves?!"

"They're a bunch of dillweeds that I've been having territory disputes with for the past 5 months. They were probably drawn in by how many 'how' questions we were asking each other earlier."

"What? That's a load of bunk!"

"You don't have to tell me. These guys have been getting on my nerves! I've been picking a few of them off whenever they get the nerve to wander around here and cause trouble, but the donks just keep coming!"

The two of them came to a stop behind a treeline. As they both peeked around the edges of the giant tree trunk, they saw a pack of 'How Wolves' as Huntress referred to them, circling around one rather large wolf, standing on its hind legs in a similar fashion to the hug wolves.

"Do not fret my pack brothers! Today we will have this part of the forest as ours! Nothing will keep us from dragging our butts across this soil and howling at absolutely nothing! Together we will be unstoppable! HOoOoooW could the accursed ranger stop us now!" The alpha-like creature raised its clawed hands into the air, summoning a chant from the pack.

"How!"

"How!"

"How!"

I'm gonna get really tired of that word. Finn and Huntress stopped peeking and hid behind the tree. Huntress leaned in and spoke to him in a hushed tone.

"Alright, here's the plan. I'm going to take the high ground and get a good vantage point in the trees. Finn, I need you to distract them in the meantime. Get creative. As soon as my magical arrows start flying, you start kicking some wolf hides."

"You got it." Finn drew his night sword from his back as he watched Huntress gain altitude, hopping upwards between two trees. He took in a deep breath and stepped out from behind the trunk. He began walking towards the ravenous pack, running circles around what he had guessed to be the alpha.

"Hey you fleabags over here!"

The chanting ceased and all of the wolves immediately stopped running around the alpha. All of their heads were now turned towards Finn. The towering werewolf-like biped that commanded them started walking towards Finn and stopped a few feet away from him while the other wolves began surrounding him, growling and gnashing their teeth.

"An interloper! Tell me small creature, HOoooW can someone such as yourself be empty noggined enough to waltz into these woods and challenge us!"

Finn had to reel his head back to look up at the creature's face. He didn't realize how big the alpha was compared to him until now. If he had to guess, the leader-like creature stood at a height of at least 8 feet, but that only made Finn anticipate the inevitable fight even more. He couldn't attack yet though, he needed to buy Huntress some time to get into position.

"Why are a bunch of smelly farts like you prowling around in territory that doesn't belong to you?" Finn crossed his arms with a smug grin on his face.

"Youuuuu! You said the word! The word!"

"That's right! You….. Huh?"

"The forbidden word! You dare say It?"

Finn cocked his head to the side. He was genuinely confused now.

What is this guy on about?

"Ummm, what did I say? Why are you being so weird dude? Kinda throwing off my sick battle vibes."

"You said it again! No 'W' word allowed. NO NO NOooO!" All of the wolves began to shake their heads around like they had just heard the most fowl thing in existence.

It was then that it clicked for Finn. He had just learned the number one trigger word for the How Wolves.

"Ohhhhh you mean….. WHY?" Finn raised his arms in the air, giving the word more emphasis.

"Glob yes! That word! Stop saying it!"

Finn began to take in a giant breath, causing the alpha to take a slight step backwards. Finn began to frantically shake his arms about as he started shouting at the top of his lungs.

"WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY!"

The wolves surrounding him were howling, barking, snarling, you name it. The lumbering beast in front of him desperately covered its ears, screaming in agony.

"You insolent welp! I'll rip your spine out!"

The alpha lunged at Finn, causing Finn to bring up his sword to block the creature's attack. Just as the giant wolf closed the distance between them to a few inches, a glowing arrow came flying out from the treeline above them. In mid air, the arrow flashed with a magical energy, causing it to split into an entire volley of arrows. The swarm of deadly projectiles curved and went in different directions. Arrows impaled dozens of wolves, instantly killing a few and injuring some more. Another arrow planted itself into the shoulder of the alpha, making him halt his charge toward Finn for a brief second.

"Now Finn!" Huntress called to him from above, signaling the attack.

This second was all Finn had needed. At lightning speed, Finn elbow bashed the beast in the face, causing one of its jagged teeth to fly out as it stumbled backward. Huntress dove down from the top of the tree line, letting loose three more arrows into the pack of ravenous canines. Most of the wolves began charging Huntress, leaving Finn to deal with the alpha wolf.

Finn sprinted towards the alpha and the beast reacted by swiping its massive claws at him, trying to tear him apart. In one agile motion, Finn dropped down and slid under the legs of the wolf. He flipped around behind it and slashed the wolf across the back before jumping back and avoiding another swing from the enemy.

The alpha only grew more furious as it blindly charged at Finn, flailing its arms in hopes to hit him. Finn would duck under the swings and jump over others, cutting the alpha's arms with his sword everytime an opening presented itself. This fighting, the adrenaline, the way it would cause Finn to simply tune out everything else, this is what he had been missing.

The alpha charged at him again, letting out a rage filled roar.

He's charging again? This guy is too easy. Suddenly, the beast dug its claws into the earth and ripped its hand back out towards Finn, sending chunks of dirt and rock flying in his direction. Finn braced for the debris by shielding his face with his metal arm. Just as the bombardment of earth had ceased, Finn could barely lower his arm before the alpha slashed him across the face, followed by a kick to his torso, sending him flying back into a nearby boulder. His sword clattered beside him. Everything was blurry. Finn struggled back into his fighting stance as his vision cleared, but it was too late. The alpha closed the distance, grabbed Finn by the throat, and slammed him against the boulder.

Finn struggled to breath as the alpha's grip tightened.

"I told you I'd rip your spine out! Say goodbye, welp! I will revel when your innards stain the grass!" The alpha lifted its other hand, brandishing its razor like claws, signaling Finn's dissection.

Time slowed.

I shall revel atop mountains made from the bones of you and everyone else.

These words breached Finn's mind like an unstoppable force. They belonged to a voice he had always dreaded, eliciting a mixture of fear and rage in his being. The only thing Finn could feel was his own heartbeat and the blood pumping throughout his body like a drum. The sensation was similar to when he had fallen victim to the rage-inducing fire element, fighting Phoebe for her jewel during the elemental crisis that had stricken Ooo. Out of nowhere, another arrow impaled the alpha through the hand, causing it to roar in pain.

Finn used this opportunity to slam his metal fist down on the alpha's forearm, making it loosen its grip on his throat. Finn landed on his feet as the injured alpha wolf jumped back and pulled the arrow out of its hand. He felt light headed from the previous lack of oxygen, but Finn willed himself to sprint forward at full speed. Before the staggered giant could react, Finn jumped up and slammed his forehead into alpha's, filling the air with a sickening thud. The headbut was followed by an uppercut, sending the alpha flying back onto the ground.

Not giving the wolf a chance to recover, Finn charged at it, jumping into the air and landing on top of it. Everything was a blur, the next thing Finn knew, he was slamming his fists into the defeated creature's face. One after another, Finn kept punching it without stopping. Each strike only made him want to land another, then another, until he could vent this horrid feeling from his system.

"Finn!"

He could have sworn he heard someone calling his name, but something kept him from letting up. He continued to punch until his knuckles became raw from the continuous impact.

"Finn stop! You need to calm down! It's over!" Huntress grabbed Finn's shoulder, finally snapping him out of whatever bloodlust he was in. He blinked a few times and looked at her out of breath.

"I….. what just…"

Finn looked down at the alpha. Its face was a barely recognizable pulp of missing teeth, disfigured bone, and bruised flesh. Its breath was slow and labored. Finn slowly got off the creature and stumbled back, catching the boulder for support. Huntress ran to his side.

"Finn, what the crud was that?!"

"I-I don't know…I." Finn slid down and leaned his back against the boulder, catching his breath.

"I don't know what came over me. Sorry…."

Huntress relaxed slightly and kneeled down in front of him. She reached out and lifted his chin, analyzing his face.

"That alpha how wolf did a good number on your face."

"Did it? Is it a cool scar?" His mood almost immediately flipped at the mention.

Huntress simply rolled her eyes at his question and started reaching into his backpack. She fished around for a while until she pulled out a small handheld mirror and facing it towards him.

"Take a look for yourself"

Looking at the mirror, Finn could see the extent of the damage to his face. A deep gash, starting right above his eyebrow, traveled down at a diagonal angle towards the area below his ear, stopping right past his cheekbone. It wasn't a gigantic cut, but it would definitely leave a mark.

"Oh well, I've totally had worse."

"Whatever you say dude." Huntress raised an eyebrow at his nonchalance, especially after whatever episode he just had.

She reached into a pouch that rested over her hip and pulled out what seemed to be an ointment. She dabbed her fingers in it and started to lightly glaze the substance over the bleeding wound on Finn's face, causing him to wince. After being satisfied with her work, she put the medicine away, stood up, and reached her hand out to Finn. Finn took her hand and stood to his feet. Looking back to where Finn brutally beat the alpha how wolf, the two of them realized the beast was gone along with the other wolves that survived the fight.

"Sooo what happened back there?" Huntress crossed her arms, looking at Finn expectantly.

"I really don't know what happened, seriously…. The guy was about to slice my basket open and something just… snapped. It felt like I was on autopilot." Finn wandered over to his night sword which was lying on the ground. He picked it up and sheathed it on his back.

"Ya, autopilot we can agree on." She placed a hand on her hip.

"Gotta say though, you've handled yourself pretty well despite getting banged up….and losing your head for a moment."

Finn awkwardly chuckled as he dusted his clothes off, though the dirt smears were gonna have to be washed out.

"Haha, ya well your training has helped me a lot."

"Ehh, you've been duking it out long before I stepped in. Still can't get over that fistfight you got into on your birthday." Huntress snorted at the memory.

Finn froze for a second and then looked at Huntress quizzically.

"I got into a fight on my birthday?!"

"Uhh ya Finn. You and Minotuar Man got into a brawl after you were already drunk. He was the one who challenged you though, saying that it was some kind of 'right of passage' or something like that."

"Man I don't remember that at all! You're like the second person to tell me that I did some crazy junk on my Bday." Finn was scratching the top of his head while looking up at nothing in particular.

"Guess whatever Marceline gave you to drink must have been pretty strong." Huntress looked off to the horizon.

"It's starting to get dark, we should head back."

Finn and Huntress made it to the edge of the forest. The sun was setting, painting the clouds in the sky with a pleasant shade of pink and orange.

"Guess this is where we split then."

"Ya I guess so. Thanks for listening to me talk today." Finn subconsciously rubbed his arm with his hand.

"It's no problem… and Finn? Thank you for helping me with those wolves today."

Huntress walked up to Finn and took hold of his hands. She leaned her head in and kissed him on the cheek before releasing his hands and backing away. Finn blushed a bit in response.

"Heheh, anytime Huntress."

Just as Finn began to walk away, Huntress spoke up again.

"Hey Finn?"

Finn stopped immediately and turned back towards her.

"What's up?"

"I think I might be able to find a way to help you with your Shoko situation."

Finn's face lit up at her suggestion.

"R-Really?! How?"

Yep, hate using that word now.

"There is an old magical oak tree that resides in this forest according to legend. It's known as the Sleeping Oak. I've been trying to locate it for a few years now due to personal reasons, but it's been said that the sap from that tree allows those who consume it to communicate spirits of the past that you may have a connection to. I'll continue hunting around for it and let you know as soon as I find anything."

"You'd do that for me? Huntress… that means a lot really."

A warm smile grew on Huntress's face. She began walking back towards a large border of shrubs which led deeper into the forest. She waved her hand at him when she approached the wall of flora.

"See you later Finn…"

"Catch you later Huntress." Finn waved back at her until her figure completely disappeared into the shadowy embrace of the forest.

Letting out a content sigh, Finn began walking home to Mount Cragdor. He continued his trek through the grasslands, but instead of heading straight for home, he shifted his direction towards the North. Roughly twenty minutes had passed until he arrived at his destination. Slowly taking one step after another, he came face to face with a large tree that stood by itself amidst the grassy plains. Its leaves hung over like bells at various high points. The most definitive characteristic about this tree however was the presence of a sword sticking out of one of the branches. Its marble white metal shimmered in the setting sunlight. The shattered blue jewel that rested between the hilt and the blade served as a floodgate that brought on a wave of complex emotions within Finn.

Resting his hand against the bark of the tree, Finn closed his eyes.

"Hey Fern. Long time no see."
