Chapter 25: The Dark Signers Descend

Sayer sat in his office, clinging to his desk as the building shook once more.

"What's going on? Surely they shouldn't have to expend this much power to capture the prisoners."

"Those aren't your pathetic guards."

To Sayer's surprise, in walked Misty, wearing a different outfit.

"What? But I…ok, relax Sayer, you're having a nervous breakdown, it's the stress of your job, it's getting to you. I hope…"

Misty laughed, the sheer coldness of it sending a chill down Sayer's spine.

"I'm no mere hallucination, I am revenge. You killed me, just like you killed Toby, just like you killed countless others."

"Oh? And just how do you intend to do that?"

Misty chuckled, and raised her new duel disk.

"How else? I want a rematch, except this time it's winner take all!"

Sayer growled, but raised his own.

"Misty, you've got a deal."

DUEL!

Misty: 4000

Sayer: 4000

"I'll take the first turn! I set one monster face down, and one card face down. I end my turn."

"All that talk and that's the best you can do? Step aside and let me show you how a real duelist does it. First, I summon Mind Protector (0/2200) in defense mode! Next, I activate the spell card Emergency Teleport. This lets me summon Krebons directly from my deck. But he won't be around for long, because he's about to give Mind Protector a tune up! I Synchro Summon! Rise forth, Magical Android (2400/1700)! Attack her face down!"

The android raised her staff and smashed it down onto Akiza's face down, revealing a girl-snake hybrid (0/0).

"Sorry, but Reptiliane Naga can't be destroyed by battle. And that's not all she does!"

Before Magical Android could return to Sayer's side of the field, the snake head on Misty's monster bit into her arm, the venom paralyzing her before her body turned to stone (2400-0).

"What did you do?"

"Any monster that battles with Naga has its attack reduced to zero at the end of the battle phase. Sorry, did that ruin your plans?"

"Grr, I end my turn, which activates Magical Android's effect! During each of my end phases, I gain 600 life points for every Psychic monster I have on the field."

Sayer: 4600

"Do your worst, Misty."

"Be careful what you wish for. You may just get it!"

Akiza: 4000

Carly: 4000

"Since I'm in a giving mood, I'll let you make the first move."

"Gee, thanks."

Not good, but not bad either. I can work with this…

"I'll set one monster face down and end my turn."

"That's it? For a signer, you're pretty weak. I'll begin with the field spell, Future Visions!"

The room around them changed to a tint of purple, giving it an eerie aura.

"Next, I summon Fortune Lady Light (?/?) in defense mode. But she won't be around for long, because any monster normal summoned while my field spell is active is removed from play for one turn."

No sooner had the witch appeared did she vanish in a flash of light.

"What was the point of summoning her, then?"

"For her effect. If Fortune Lady Light leaves the field due to a card effect, I can special summon any Fortune Lady from my deck, so come on out Fortune Lady Earth (?/?)

"Where are her attack and defense points?"

"For every level my Fortune Ladies have, they gain attack and defense points. For Fortune Lady Earth, she gains 400, and right now she's level 6 (?-2400/?-2400)! Attack her face down!"

The Earth witch slammed her staff into the ground, summoning large rock spears from the floor to impale Akiza's VIolet Witch.

"When Violet Witch hits the grave, I can add Botanical Girl from my deck to my hand."

"Is that supposed to scare me? I end my turn with one card face down."

"I'll begin by summoning Reptiliane Scylla (1800/1200) in attack mode! Rip his Android to shreds!"

Sayer: 2800

"It gets worse, I'm afraid. Since your monster had zero attack when Scylla destroyed it, she gets revived to my side of the field in defense mode! Not that it'll matter for long, because I activate my face down, Final Attack Orders! Now all monsters face up on the field are switched to attack position, meaning Magical Android now gets a chance to strike her former master!"

The android shot a psychic arrow from her staff, striking Sayer in the chest, making his howl in pain as electricity ripped through his body, forcing him to his knees.

Sayer: 400

"That pain…can she be a psychic duelist? No, not even I could cause shockwaves like that."

"I'll end my turn there. Now do you see what a mistake messing with me was?"

Misty: 4600

"You're strong, I'll give you that, but I'm stronger! First, I'll activate the spell card Change of Heart, so I'll be taking my monster back. Next, I summon Psychic Commander to the field! Attack Naga, my monsters!"

Misty: 4600-2200-800

"Did you forget my Naga's effect (2400-0) (1400-0)?"

"I didn't, but that won't matter when I tune my level 5 Magical Android with my level 3 Psychic Commander to Synchro Summon! Come on out, Thought Ruler Archfiend!"

Sayer's ace roared as he hit the field, but Misty didn't even flinch.

"Scared yet? Next turn, you're finished!"

"Come on, make your next move so I can finish you!"

"Shut up! First, I summon Twilight Rose Knight in attack mode! Thanks to your field spell, he'll get removed from play until my next turn, but not before he special summons Botanical Girl in defense mode. I end my turn."

Carly laughed, drawing Akiza's ire.

"Is this the best the Fortune Cup Runner Up can do? First, Fortune Lady Light returns from the past. Next, my girls gain a level each standby phase (2400-2800/2400-2800) (?-400/?-400). And that's bad news for you, because each time her level increases, Fortune Lady Earth inflicts 400 points of damage to you!"

Before Akiza could react, huge thorny spears rose up out of the ground and jabbed her, making her cry out in pain.

Akiza: 3600

"Now Fortune Lady Earth, destroy Botanical Girl!"

"By discarding Hedge Guard from my hand, Botanical Girl is safe!"

"Maybe, but your life points aren't! Go, Meteorain!"

A green barrier surrounded Akiza's monster, protecting her from the thorns. But Akiza wasn't so lucky, the pain from so many hitting her forcing her to her knees.

Akiza: 1900

"That was no hologram…You're a psychic duelist?"

Carly scoffed.

"Please, I'm no carnival sideshow freak. What you're feeling is the power of the netherworld bringing our monsters to life, and it'll only get worse. I switch Fortune Lady Light into defense mode. Next, I'll set one card face down and end my turn."

"And thus begins mine! First, my Twilight Rose Knight returns to the field. Next, he'll give Botanical Girl a tune up! Come on out, Splendid Rose! And by removing Botanical Girl in my graveyard from play, your Fortune Lady Earth's attack points get cut in half (2800-1400). Attack her Fortune Lady Earth, Splendid Rose!"

"How predictable. Go, Time Passage! Until the end of my turn, Fortune Lady Earth gains 3 levels, and you know what that means (1400-2600)!"

Akiza: 1500

Fortune Lady Earth caught Splendid Rose's vine around her staff, forcing her closer to her before splitting her in two with her staff, causing Akiza to howl in pain.

Akiza: 1300

"Don't you get it? You signers could never hope to beat us!"

"I…I end my turn with one card face down."

Misty laughed, unnerving Sayer.

"What's so funny? Hurry up and finish your turn so I can crush you!"

"That's what's funny, because you won't get a next turn! I have everything I need to crush you right here!"

"How? My Thought Ruler Archfiend has more than enough power to crush them both."

"I never said anything about them doing the crushing, did I? But first, let me set the stage with the field spell Savage Colosseum! Next, I'll release both of my Reptiliane monsters to Advance Summon the terror from the netherworld! Rise forth, Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua (2800/1800)!"

Sayer glanced around, not spotting the summoned monster anywhere.

"Looks like your duel disk malfunctioned, because your monster is nowhere to be seen!"

A loud roar proved him wrong. Daring to look behind him, Sayer's eyes went wide as the ginormous lizard standing right outside his building.

"Surprised? This is the monster that will drag you to your doom!"

"Are you kidding? Even if you destroy my Archfiend, I'll still have 300 life points left."

"That would be true, if your Archfiend was the one I was targeting. My Immortal can attack you directly!"

"What?"

"End this, Ccarayhua!"

A huge tongue broke through the window, wrapping around Sayer and squeezing hard, making him gasp in pain.

Sayer: 0000

"Now, before I end your pathetic life, tell me exactly what happened when my brother came to you."

"He...we put him through a test, to see how strong his psychic powers were. But the electricity was strong, and his powers were too weak…he couldn't hold it back! Please, let me go, I'll do anything!"

"Dispose of him."

With that, the demonic being flung Sayer into his mouth and swallowed him whole, never to be seen again.

"Now to make sure they can't hurt anyone else."

With one swipe of his massive claw, Ccarayhua destroyed a massive chunk of the building, causing the rest to begin collapsing in on itself.

"Now to meet with the others."
In a shadowy ball of fire, Misty disappeared, leaving the building to fall.

As Carly drew her card, her monsters rose in level (2800-3200/2800-3200) (400-600/400-600), and more thorns rose out to pummel Akiza, nearly causing her to pass out.

Akiza: 900

Carly scoffed, deactivating her duel disk and walking away.

"Hey, what're you doing? This duel isn't finished!"

"Yes, it is."

Carly showed Akiza the card she had drawn: Mystical Space Typhoon.

"Whatever your pathetic trap card is won't matter. Besides, you're not the one I want to crush. I'll let you live with your failure…for now."

Just then, the building shook, as the ceiling begin to fall down.

"Besides, looks like you won't have long to live anyway. A pity, I was hoping for more of a challenge."

With that, Carly disappeared, leaving Akiza alone.

"What…was that?"

With that, her body gave out, and she fell unconscious.
