All I felt was numbness as I sat there looking at Leon's blood on my hands. My dad was putting the dirt back over the grave that he dug for my fiancé. He was just here beside me this morning, now he's in the ground.

I saw Daryl's feet appear. I knew he was looking at me, but I refused to look at him. "I'm gonna…go back and…get the boy's bike." He said to my dad.

"Alright." My dad said and gave the grave a pat with the shovel. He was done with the grave.

I watched Daryl walk away, only allowing myself to look at him because I knew he wouldn't know. "I hate him." I said.

"No, Abby. You don't hate Daryl." My dad said gently.

I began to feel emotional and cry all over again. "I do. Daddy, I hate him." I stood up quickly, we hugged each other. He rubbed my hair and tried to soothe me as I sobbed into his chest. "He killed my fiancé."

"Fiance?" My dad questioned and moved me back a little so he could look at me. I lifted my hand and showed him the ring, then sniffled. He gave me a look. Maybe he actually has some regrets. "Baby, we…" He trailed off and shook his head. "We didn't know it was like that between you two."

"Well, it was." I cried and wiped my nose with my arm. "We were gonna…get married…and have kids…and…Christmas…and…"

"Okay." My dad stopped me. I probably sounded unstable, but that's how I felt right then. My dad made me sit down on the steps, he sat next to me and just held me and rubbed my arm. I cried some more.

Daryl came back a little later with Leon's bike. My sadness turned to anger once he was in my sight. "I'll take the bike." He said. "You and Abby take the car."

"Yeah." My dad nodded. He walked away to gather their supplies.

Daryl and I locked eyes, I stared at him with hate. "You killed him." I said.

Daryl swallowed, then looked away and paused. "He pointed his gun at me." He put his hands out. He was acting like a child trying to defend himself, when he knew he did something wrong.

"He put it down." I said.

"And he shot at us last night."

"You shot back." I said getting angry. "And I shot at you guys too." I was still giving him an evil glare. "We didn't know it was you! We saw figures stalking us in the woods at night! What would you do?" I raised my voice. "Besides, I never thought it would've been you guys." I said quieter. I felt a throbbing pain go through my shoulder when I moved, it gave me another thought. "By the way, thanks for shooting me." I said sarcastically and stood up. "It felt great." I gave him a look, then started walking to where they left their car.

During the whole car ride, I sat with my head leaning against the window and barely said a word. We were about three hours away from Alexandria so since it was still early, my dad wanted to drive straight through without stopping anywhere for the night. We arrived sometime in the evening. I stared ahead at the gates of Alexandria in front of me as they opened. My dad slowly drove inside. Here I am. I thought. Right back where I started. Only worse because everyone probably hates me now and I don't even have Leon anymore for a companion.

My dad drove up to our house, which I was thankful for because I didn't want to see everyone staring at me. He came around to my side and helped me out of the car. "You okay?"

"Yeah." I said leaning against the car.

Michonne came out of the house and right over to my dad. They hugged tightly. That's right. They haven't seen each other in months. Seeing them together hurt my heart and I longed for Leon.

After they let go of each other, Michonne looked at me. "Oh, Abby." She said and hugged me, I just hugged her back wincing a little because she got too close to my wound. "I'm gonna go get Judith." She smiled and went back inside.

Just then, Daryl rolled up. "We should get you to the infirmary so you can have that looked at." My dad said.

"I'll take 'er." Daryl offered.

"No." I said immediately. "I'm fine."

"Abby." Daryl said. "At least let me take a look at it then." He reached out.

"No!" I pulled away. He stared at me. "You don't get to talk to me." I said. "You don't get to touch me. You don't even get to look at me!" I snapped. "As far as I'm concerned, you don't even EXIST to me!" I yelled and turned away quickly and ran inside straight up to my room.

I laid on my bed and cried and cried for the whole day. Leon's gone. The love of my life is gone and he's never coming back. Michonne walked into the room and sat down a tray on my nightstand, then put her hand on my shoulder. My dad must have told her what happened. She only stayed for a minute, then left.

I don't know what she gave me, but it doesn't matter because there's no way I could eat. I can't do anything right now.

For days, I stayed locked in my room and just cried. I didn't eat, I didn't sleep, I didn't bathe. I didn't care about anything anymore. What was the point anyway? What was the point of all of this? I fall in love, make my family angry, then run away just for it all to end. Why? Why would this happen to me? It was just cruel is what it was.

Finally after about a week, I was able to get up and get a shower. I slowly washed my hair and my whole body. Afterwards, I took care of my wound and rewrapped it. Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I looked like a totally different person to me. I was super skinny and my face looked sad.

I still didn't think I could eat though so I went back to my bed after getting dressed. Pulling out my iPod, I plugged it in because it needed charged. The battery appeared on screen and I was able to use it.

I began scrolling through the pictures I took of Leon and I. We were standing on that cliff holding each other and smiling. Look how happy I was. I don't know who she was but she's not me. Not anymore at least.

My lip began to quiver. I put my iPod aside and laid my head back down on the pillow crying into it.

"Abigail." My dad said standing over me. "You need to get up."

"No." I said.

"It's been two weeks." He said. "I know you're sad but you can't stay in bed like this. It's not good for you." He put a hand on my arm. "You need to eat and get some fresh air." He paused. "Come on now."

"I don't wanna see him."

"I know you don't." He said quickly. "Daryl's not here. He went out. Come down for a little bit." He stood up. "I'm not taking no for an answer this time. I'll carry you down if I have to."

A feeling of extreme annoyance came over me, but I knew I had to do it. I sighed. Rolling over, I sat up.

"That's a girl." My dad said. "Come on." He helped me up, then we slowly walked downstairs together.

Michonne looked up in surprise when she saw me. "Abby." She said. "Hey, pretty girl." She hugged me briefly when I walked over to her. "How you feeling?"

"Like shit." I said.

Her mouth pressed into a thin line. "Well, no offense but…you look like shit too." She said. "Look how skinny are you. You need to eat." She handed me a plate of eggs and some kind of meat. I looked up at her, she raised her eyebrows at me telling me not to argue. I sighed and took the plate and sat down.

"Good girl." She said. "Eat slow so you don't get sick."

I pushed the eggs around with my fork. I'm not going to lie, I was definitely hungry…but I just couldn't eat. Maybe I'll eat a little just to get them off my back. Weakly, I stabbed a little and lifted it to my mouth. Chewing slowly, I ate my first bite of food in days.

Michonne smiled at me. "Keep eating. Then maybe you and I can go for a little walk."

I sighed and ate a little more. After not eating for so long, my stomach got smaller which meant I got fuller faster so I couldn't eat much. I guess it was enough to satisfy them because they didn't say anything to me.

After breakfast, Michonne and I went outside for some fresh air. I had to admit, it felt nice to feel the sun on my skin. I looked up with my eyes closed and felt the heat on my face. I pictured Leon and I on one of our hikes. It made me feel nice and warm inside and I actually smiled.

"I'll be right back." Michonne said and went inside.

"Abby?" I looked over and saw Max looking at me in horror. Probably because of how skinny I was. "Are-are you okay?"

I stared at him for a moment, then looked down. "Fine."

Max walked over to where I was. "Are you sick?" He whispered.

I became a little angry. "You wouldn't understand."

"Oh." He said. "I heard you got back." He smiled, then it faded. "Where's your boyfriend?"

My eyes widened. No one's talked to me about Leon since…

"Is he here too?"

"Shut up." I said quietly.

"Or did he have to go back to The Sanctuary?"

"Shut up." I said a little louder.

Max's expression changed like he got an idea. "Is he…is he dead?"

"Shut up!" I screamed. "Shut up!" Max backed up. "Just shut up!" Others who were out stopped and looked at me and some of my closer neighbors walked out onto their porches.

I breathed out looking around at everyone looking at me. I was embarrassed. My eyes locked on Daryl, he must not have left yet and was on his way out, but stopped and stared at me too.

It made me angry. He doesn't get to look at me like that. He did this to me. I turned and ran back into my house and up to my room. Back into my bed I went, crying into my pillow.

My dad called me for dinner, and I decided to actually go down. However, I stopped at the bottom of the stairs when I saw Daryl. My mood switched and my expression hardened. "What's he doing here?" I said to my dad.

"Abby." He said.

"You said he wasn't home." I looked back at Daryl when I said that. He put his head down a little and walked into the kitchen. My dad and Michonne shared a look. I didn't want to see him but after the look they gave each other, I decided to just deal with it. I sat at the table along with everyone else sitting as far away from Daryl as I could.

There was an awkward silence. I didn't seem to mind though.

"I'm glad you came down." My dad said to me. "Try to eat a little more than you did this morning."

I didn't have anything to say to that. Judith squealed and waved her hands telling Michonne, who was feeding her, that she wanted more. After a while, it started get on my nerves. Does she have to do that every time? Why can't Michonne or my dad tell her to stop? It was driving my patience. Maybe I wouldn't have been a good mom.

That thought saddened me because I thought of Leon. I put my fork down and stared down at my plate.

"Abby?" My dad said. "You okay?"

I looked up at him. "Yeah." I lied. "Just…can-can you hand me the ketchup?"

"Here." Daryl grabbed it quickly and handed it to me. I gave him an evil look as I took it from him, but he didn't seem to notice.

"So how about tomorrow, we take a ride to The Hilltop and see Maggie?" My dad said. "It's been a while."

When no one said anything, I looked up and realized that my dad was looking at me. "Me?" I said.

"Yeah, you." He said. "And Michonne and Daryl."

"Sure." Daryl said.

I became angry because my dad knows that I don't want to be around Daryl. I'm definitely not going if he's going. "Actually," I held up my head, "I was thinking about going out tomorrow."

"Oh really?" My dad said. "You wanna get back to your runs?"

"Somethin' like that." I said without looking up.

"Well, good." He said. "Might be good for you to…get outta that room."

I looked at him while chewing. Turning my head, I realized Daryl was looking at me. I turned away quickly. "Yeah, and…I don't think Maggie wants to see me." I said. They all looked at me now.

"Why would you say that?" Asked my dad.

I widened my eyes like he was stupid. "The last time I saw her, she was pissed at me." I stated. "You were all pissed at me."

"Well," my dad said in a gentle tone, "I don't think she'll be mad anymore."

I stopped and looked at him, he looked like he regretted what he just said. "Anymore?" I asked. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"I didn't mean…" He trailed off.

I sighed angrily and looked away with my eyes closed. I finished the rest of my dinner without speaking, then sat on the couch for a little before bed. Judith happily ran over to me and clapped my legs with both of her hands. "Bee." She said. That's how she says my name right now.

"Hi, girlie." I smiled a little and lifted her onto my lap. I kissed her cheek a bunch of times making her giggle. My dad smiled at us.

The next day, I grabbed my bag to take with me and headed out. I wasn't actually going on a run, but I wanted them to think that.

I went to the spot where I first met Leon. Where we used to meet up everyday. Our spot.

I knew he wouldn't be there but I just had to. I sat down against the tree and looked out at the river. For a while, I just sat there.

"I'm sorry." I said. My lip immediately began to quiver. "I'm so sorry, Leon. This is all my fault." I cried. "I got you killed." It was true. It was my idea to leave. If we never would've left, Leon would still be alive.

Then again, I thought about the time that we got to spend together and I would never take that back. No. I thought. This isn't my fault. It's Daryl's. He killed Leon. He killed my fiancé. I'll never forgive him.

I put my head down and sobbed under the tree where we used to lay.

Narrator's POV

Daryl Dixon followed Abigail as she left Alexandria, he was worried about her going out by herself after the way she's been. The man also hoped that he could talk to the girl. About what happened. They used to be so close, now it was like she hated him.

The hope of getting to talk with her was shattered as he listened to her cry by the river. Daryl's mouth pressed into a thin line. He put his head down feeling sorry for the girl. The man just decided to leave her be and went back to Alexandria.

The next day, Rosita gave a hard stare at the truck at the gates of Alexandria. He's back. She thought. She climbed down the guard post to let him in.

Rosita knocked on Rick's door and the man answered it. "Rick." The young woman said. "Negan's back."

Rick's expression hardened. "Well, hello there." Negan grinned. "We have a lot to discuss." He stepped in without being asked. Rosita stayed outside, Rick closed the door. Daryl and Michonne were also in the room.

"So, I heard baby girl is back home safe and sound." Negan said. "But where is my guy? Cuz he never came home?" He asked more serious.

Rick sucked on his teeth and looked down, then back up before answering. "He didn't make it."

Negan's eyes widened. "Leon is dead?"

"Yeah." Rick nodded once.

Negan angrily stared at the father and breathed in and out slowly. All of a sudden, he smiled. "Well, ain't that somethin'?" He said. "Things don't always turn out how ya plan, now do they?"

"Just get to it." Michonne said shaking her head. "How does this effect the deal?"

"I'm so glad you asked." Negan said. "I have no idea." He began walking around looking at things in the room. The others shared a look. "Leon stole a lot of good stuff from me. Someone has to pay for that."

"Why don't we just call it even?" Rick said.

Negan looked at the man with wide-eyes. "Oh you better be joking?" He said. He pointed upstairs. "You got your daughter back." He pointed at himself now. "My boy is gone. That's not even. The way it looks, you won."

"Well, the boy's dead. He already paid." Said Daryl.

Negan turned to Daryl. "That's not how it works, Daryl. You know that." He turned around and thought long and hard. Negan turned back around with a big smile. "I got an idea." He pointed. "Someone can take his place and work for me to make up for the shit that he stole."

Everyone was silent for a moment. "Okay." Rick finally said. "I'll do it."

"No, Rick, no." Negan said. "You didn't do any of this…she did." He pointed at the ceiling. "So if anyone goes, it's her."

"Well, that's not happening." Rick snapped.

"Hell no, it ain't." Daryl said roughly.

Abby's POV

I laid on my bed in my depression the next morning. After a while, it sounded like there were voices downstairs. I got curious and went down. Negan was here. "What's…going on?" I said and stepped into view.

Negan looked surprised to see me. "Baby girl." He said. He looked me up and down. "You look shitty." He pointed out. I crossed my arms and looked away. "Don't these people feed you?"

I looked back at him with an annoyed expression. "What are you doing here?"

"We were just discussing what to do about our deal." He said.

"Deal?" I questioned. "What deal?"

"You never told 'er?" Negan questioned my dad. My dad didn't say anything, which answered Negan's question. "We made a deal for them to bring you and your lover boy back home." He stepped closer to me. "But I see…only you came home." He stared down at me. "What happened?"

I looked over at Daryl and glared at him. I would love to rat him out, but I knew it would probably cause more problems. I looked down. "A herd got him." I lied.

"A herd got him?" Negan repeated immediately. "So you got my boy killed?" I glared up at him. "Well…he was gonna have to work hard to make up for all the crap that he stole but since he's gone…I was just telling your dad that I want you to take his place."

My eyes widened. Negan wants to take me to The Sanctuary? I thought about it. I would be away from home and all these people treating me like I'm crazy or a criminal for falling in love. More importantly, I'd be away from Daryl.

"Okay." I said.

"Yeah, see. She's— My dad stopped and looked at me. "What?"

"I said I'll go." I shrugged. "I'll do it."

"Abby, no." My dad said.

"That a girl." Negan grinned. "Taking responsibility."

"You're not taking my daughter." My dad snapped.

"It's not your decision." I said to him. "It's not your crime. It's mine. Like Negan said." Everything got quiet, Negan grinned. "Give me a few minutes to change my clothes and pack a bag." I said to Negan then went back upstairs to do just that.

Narrator's POV

"There has to be something else we can do." Rick said to Negan. "There has to be another way."

"This is the only way." Said Negan.

"How long?" Rick snapped. "How long is this sentence?"

Negan looked up and breathed through his teeth while he thought. "Well, for getting one of my men killed…that's a heavy price. And then there's his crime too." The man nodded. "So…we're looking at…at least a year."

"A year?" Rick questioned.

"At least?" Said Michonne.

Abby walked back into the room now.

Abby's POV

"A whole year?" My dad said. "No." He looked at me. "Baby, put your bag down. You're not goin'."

"I have to." I said to my dad. "Don't worry about me, dad." I shook my head. "I'll be fine."

My dad looked like he was getting choked up, he quickly pulled me to him and hugged me tightly. He let go of me and put his hands on my face looking at me. "Are you sure you're okay with this?"

"Yeah." I nodded. "I told you, I'll be fine."

My dad gave me a sad nod, then glared at Negan. "If any 'a your people do anything to my daughter…"

"Rick." Negan pretended to be offended and put his hand over his heart. "I would never let anything happen to your baby girl." He grinned. "And don't worry, I'll give you updates on how she's doing."

My dad was angry but I could tell there was nothing he could do about it. He hugged me again. Then I said bye to Judith and Michonne. Once we let go of each other, I locked eyes with Daryl. My expression hardened and I turned away. I saw him put his head down before I started walking away.

Negan put his hand on my back and guided me to his truck. "Glad to have ya back, baby girl." He said to me once we were inside. "I knew you'd be back." He grinned. I just scowled at him. He laughed.
