AN: I do not own Code Geass
DarkDremora: I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter so much, honestly I didn't plan on Kallen and Lelouch getting together in that Chapter, but something about the moment felt right, so I let it slide. Kallen still having emotional baggage from the last timeline is something I feel is necessary to have, otherwise, she'll just be free to do whatever without any consequence, and this is my way of relegating that.
XxPistolgun: It makes me happy seeing that you've been enjoying Naoto's character, as I've also been enjoying writing him. And the slow build with Kallen and Lelouch's relationship is something I found challenging, as I didn't know what was too slow or not.
King daibo: I don't know when Lelouch will reject Shirley's confession, thought it will happen eventually, it's just time will tell because I haven't thought about it.
Chapter 24: The Day a New Demon was Born
December 19th, 11:34 AM.
"Lelouch!" Villetta's voice rung out as she scoured the halls for the raven-haired boy, "Where is he?" she shouted while looking into a classroom, startling the students, "How dare he skip gym class! I'll make sure he runs thirty extra laps for this!" that when she saw a certain red head out of the corner of her eye, "Kallen! Where's Lelouch?"
Instead of answering, Kallen quickly scurried around a corner, running down the stairs, "Damn it! Why do I have to spend my days chasing after students!?" Ms. Nu followed the girl closely, although, she realized the gap between them was building. At first, Villetta thought of this job as annoying, and that she shouldn't have to spend her days teaching students who either don't care, or are just too lazy. However, as time passed, she slowly came to enjoy coming to school, preparing for the day, and torturing students she didn't like. It was a kind of power trip she never felt before.
Of course, she wasn't too cruel, as she only picked one student to bully: Lelouch Lamprouge. The boy had been a pain in her side with how nonchalantly he took gym class, however, within a few weeks, she changed the once stamina deficient wimp into a semi-competent runner. She was quite proud seeing him improve with each passing day, almost like a mother teaching her son how to use a fork.
"Slow down, Kallen!" Villetta shouted at the red head as she sped toward an open window, "She's not going to jump, is she!?"
She was.
Kallen leapt out of the window, landing in a tree adjacent to it. Quickly, she recovered and slid down the trunk, dashing away the second she hit the ground. Soon, Villetta joined her by jumping onto the tree, then back onto the building's wall, before hitting the ground running.
Despite her impressive movement, the gap between the teacher and student only continued to grow, right until Rivalz came around the corner driving his motorcycle with a side–car. In the seat, sat Lelouch who was calmly reading a book with a helmet on. "Get in!" the blue-haired boy shouted at the red head.
Kallen smiled, and jumped into the Prince's lap, causing him to yelp slightly, "Let's go!"
While first doing a burnout, Rivalz sped off, leaving Ms. Nu in his dust, "Looks like they're off gambling again," a passing math teacher commented.
"You know, I sort of missed this atmosphere," a science teacher added, "Sure, going on vacations nice and all, but there's never a dull moment here at Ashford."
"You said it."
"Oh right… Jasper and Casmir were pulled out of this operation, so the teachers they were subbing for have returned to campus." Villetta sighed, "I've only got one month left, and yet, I've come up with nothing conclusive. Of course, I could try to charge Kallen and Lelouch with gambling… no, that wouldn't work as I need actual proof of that happening, not just my word." she shook her head in frustration, "Why can't things just go my way for once?"
"Good morning, Ms. Nu!" Milly greeted the dark-skinned Britannian with a cloth bag draped over her shoulder.
"Oh, Good morning, Ms. Ashford." despite not having a favorable opinion of the blonde, Villetta was still obligated to show her some respect, as he Grandfather was allowing her to continue her investigation here, "Might I ask where you're going?"
"Me? I'm just going on a little business trip, that's all."
"Business trip?"
"Yep. As it turns out, Ashford industries is back in business!" the blonde then put a finger to her mouth, "But don't tell anyone else, okay? It's supposed to be a secret~"
With that, Milly happily skipped away, humming a melody as the wind blew through her hair, "Ashford industries? I thought the Ashford family was only in the education business?" Villeta muttered, "Perhaps I've been looking into the wrong lead this whole time…"
Rivalz's bike sped down the highway as Kallen readjusted in her seat, "Did you really have to jump on me?" Lelouch asked, as she leaned her head on his shoulder. In this position, he could smell her shampoo, which was almost intoxicating.
"Don't act like you didn't like it," the red head replied while closing her eyes, "So, what time does your game start?"
"At about 12:15…" the boy checked his phone, "that's about… 9, no, 8 minutes from now."
They turned to Rivalz, "Alright, I get it! I'll speed up!" he shouted while feeling the pressure from their gaze.
"Step out of the vehicle, now!" Naoto commanded through his blue Glasgow's intercom.
In front of him was a large truck with a storage unit in the back big enough to fit a Knightmare frame, "He said get out!" Tamaki shouted while pounding on the driver's side door with the butt of his rifle.
Soon after, two guards shakily got out of the truck, before quickly being manhandled by both Tamaki and Nagata, "Load up R1!" the Kozuki commanded Minami.
The bespectacled man taxied the red Knightmare into the back of the truck, meanwhile, Nagata ordered the guards to take off their uniforms, "Looks like everything's going well," Ohgi commented while sitting in a destroyed building 140-meters away.
"This is the easy part," Naoto responded as Nagata and Minami suited up, "Hopeful those IDs are good enough to get us in…"
"I'm a bit skeptical of those myself, after all, how did your benefactor even get them anyway?"
"Lelouch said he had a girl named Maya make them, and while I have no reason to distrust him, Maya's a completely different story…" Naoto watched as Nagata clipped his badge to his uniform, "Damn it… why did I have to tell Lelouch off? I know as long as that favor was in play… he'd be forced to try and get Kallen on the truck, but even so…" he took out an envelope that encased the mission's backup plans, "At least we were able to get this done before all that…"
Suddenly, he heard several shots go off, then he turned around, only to be horrified at the sight, "T-they tried to kill me!" Tamaki shouted as the blood of the now-dead guards stained his clothing.
"You idiot! We told you to knock them out!" Nagata shouted
"I tried, but they-"
"Listen up!" the resistance leader's voice boomed, "We're now on a time-limit due to Tamaki's screw-up. According to our info, those soldiers had heartbeat monitors on them, and they're checked periodically every 30-minutes. So, at the most, we've got 30-minutes to get in, and get out. Understand?"
Britannian heart-monitors administer a quick shock once every 30-minutes, this allows the machine to record the soldier's heartbeat. However, upon feeling no response, an alert will sound to the nearest military facility, sending
"Should we plant the bomb on the truck?" Nagata asked
"Hell no! I don't want any of you dying on this mission, got it?" With that, Naoto quickly maneuvered his Glasgow back to base, meanwhile, Tamaki handed off a satchel charge to Nagata.
"Use this when you get in a pinch, okay?"
"Thank you, Tamaki… I wish there was some other way…"
Minami sighed, "There you guys go… always wanting to prepare for 'the worse', if we just follow Naoto's plan, we'll be fine."
"It doesn't hurt to be prepared," Tamaki replied while running off.
"Get a load of that guy, trying to sound all cool before the mission begins," Minami muttered while boarding the truck, "Hurry up Nagata! We'll be late!"
However, the man simply stared at the bomb for an extended period of time, before finally snapping out of his thoughts, "Let's go!"
"Right on time!" Rivalz announced as he parked his motorcycle.
Kallen hopped out of the side-car and pulled Lelouch out, "We'd have been late if you drove any slower!" she complained while pushing the Prince toward the building, tossing his helmet back to the blue-haired boy.
Eventually, Lelouch started walking on his own, with Kallen and Rivalz on either side of him, "I still don't get why you're coming along, Kallen."
The red head raised an eyebrow, "What? I thought you said I could join you guys whenever you went gambling."
"I don't remember saying that…"
"Besides," she grabbed Lelouch's arm and squeezed it, "You guys look like you need some muscle. What if one of those Britannian's try and beat you up after losing fair and square?"
Rivalz scratched the back of his head, "Well… that hasn't happened, yet… although, now I'm kind of scared when you say it like that…"
"Exactly! That's why I'm here!" she continued to hold onto the Prince's arm as they entered the building, going through a set of large double doors that led into a dimly lit room, where an old man sat across from a fat Britannian noble.
"Ah! Lelouch, I'm so glad you've arrived!" the old man stood up, "How's school been treating you boys? I hope it hasn't been too difficult…"
"This is your substitute? A school boy?" the fat noble scanned the trio.
"Uh oh, it looks like the game's almost over already…" Rivalz said while looking over the board, "Sheesh… are you sure you can win this?"
Lelouch calmly took a seat across from the noble, "It doesn't look so bad…" he muttered as Kallen took a seat next to him, "Although, I think this would be a horrible learning experience for you…"
"What are you talking about? I've been trying my best to learn how to play chess! I'll be the one who decides what useful or not, thank you very much." the red head replied snarkily.
"I still don't understand why you'd want to do such a thing."
Kallen shifted slightly, "I just… I just want to spend more time with you… that's all…"
Now, Lelouch could feel his face heating up, "F-fine… just… don't distract me while I'm playing."
"No promises~"
The noble watched the interaction with an irked expression, "How dare you mock me!" he shouted, "I'm not some 'learning experience', I'm-"
"It's your move." the Prince said, interrupting the noble's rant.
"You… you moved your king first!?" he exclaimed upon seeing his opponent's king piece moved up one square.
"Of course. After all, if a king doesn't lead, how can he expect his subordinates to follow?"
The noble clenched his armrest in anger, "How dare you continue to mock me!"
"Tamaki, you're such an idiot!" Nagata cursed as he swerved the truck around a corner, taking out a light post in the process.
"Watch what you're doing!" Minami shouted while holding his left arm, which was bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound, "Damn it… we barely got out of there…" he glanced at their special 'package'. A large spherical containment capsule, that to their knowledge, contained poison gas.
"We couldn't even complete our objective because of that idiot!"
"Quit complaining! There's nothing we can do about it now…"
Nagata glanced at his friend's blood-soaked arm and asked, "Hey, are you going to be able to pilot the Glasgow like that?"
"I have to… I've got no choice." Minami replied as an Apache flew over head, "Damn… the military's already here…"
"Pull over!" bellowed a voice from the helicopter, "Otherwise, we'll have to use extreme force."
Their voice faded as Nagata drifted the truck around a corner, putting it on only one set of wheels. "Oh shit!" he shouted as he barely corrected it.
Meanwhile, his bespectacled friend groaned in pain as his arm was forced against the truck's door, "Fuck! Watch where you're going!"
"Sorry!" the rebel driver replied while getting onto a freeway ramp, "Luckily no one's on the freeway at this time of day."
"Where the hell is everyone?" Minami muttered as he heard the same Apache start hovering over them.
"Pull over. This is your last warning."
In the background, several Britannian transport planes carrying Sutherland's swiftly approached the freeway, spelling out the rebel's impending doom, "If we can just make it to Naoto… he'll think of something…" Nagata said hopefully.
"This isn't good!" Ohgi shouted over the radio, "Nagata and Minami are bringing along more company than expected. Are those special weapons of yours set up yet?"
Naoto checked on a large metallic box labelled 'Anti-Knightmare Armament', "We're not even close to finishing!" he responded as Naomi desperately tried to screw in a bolt.
"Damn it… these instructions look like a child made them," she complained while looking over the manual.
"Probably because they are. We're trying to use a bigger version of the science club's grappling hook… although, we've only managed to get one set up." the resistance leader looked at his blue Glasgow, "We're out of time…"
"That was fast!" Rivalz shouted upon seeing the board, "What was that? 8 minutes and 32 seconds?"
Kallen held onto the Prince's arm as they began walking away, leaving a dumb-founded Britannian noble behind. "He got too cocky, recklessly sending his pieces to their doom without so much as a second thought."
"Still, nothing beats this feeling of leaving the nobility dumbfounded," the blue-haired boy said as they left the building.
"I suppose you're right," Kallen muttered while putting on Lelouch's motorcycle helmet.
"Hey, that's mine-"
"No way, you got to wear it on the way here. It's my turn. Besides, your hair doesn't get in your eyes when just sitting there, like mine does."
The Prince sighed, knowing he wasn't going to change her mind anytime soon. Now, they were on an empty freeway, travelling down it in silence. Kallen was resting her head on Lelouch's chest, while the boy was reading a book calmly. "Hey, you two are oftly touchy-feely, are you sure there's nothing going on between you two?"
Kallen buried her face into the Prince's chest further, silently telling him to answer, "Well… we've been… um…" although, he couldn't find the right words, "trying to… date… though, it's kind of hard given the fact Milly's around almost every corner."
"I see…" the blue-haired boy muttered as a helicopter passed overhead, "Honestly, I'm not even shocked, but I kind of feel bad for Shirley…"
"What did you say?" Lelouch questioned
"How far have you two gotten?" he decided to change the topic, "From what I can see… you two have gone well beyond first base… maybe even all the way to third-"
"Shut up!" Kallen abruptly shouted, causing the boy to swerve slightly.
"Jeez, you don't have to get so worked up!" Rivalz replied while correcting the bike, "I mean, with how close you two are, can you really blame someone for thinking such a thing?"
"Yes, yes, I can!"
From behind, a truck horn blared, "Get the hell out of the way!" Nagata shouted as he nearly ran over the bike.
"What are you doing?" Minami weakly asked as his face began to turn pale from blood loss.
"Hey! Hang in there, man! We're almost home free!" his friend said reassuringly while taking a left, crashing into a construction zone, causing the air-bags to go off.
"Uh, oh, that wasn't our fault, was it?" Rivalz wondered as he pulled over, "Dang, and it looks like I broke something," he tried to turn on his motorcycle several times, but it was to no avail.
However, Kallen and Lelouch weren't nearly as calm, because as soon as they saw the truck crash, they rushed toward it, "Those idiots… I can't believe they're actually doing it!" Kallen muttered while tossing her helmet to the side.
Lelouch climbed atop the trailer and shouted into the opening, "Hey! Are you guys okay?"
"It's you… finally, I have found my…" a voice spoke almost directly to the Prince, stunning him for a second.
"Wait, you don't have your mask," the red head called close behind as she joined the boy on top. That's when the truck suddenly started, the force from it moving caused both of them to drop into the trailer, with Kallen landing on top of the Prince.
"That hurt… Kallen, can you check on your friends?"
The red head immediately understood what Lelouch was trying to say, "Got it. Then just… hide or something."
After that, she quickly headed to the front, where she saw a pale Minami passed out, blood everywhere, while Nagata was driving erratically, with a shook expression, muttering, "This can't be… it wasn't supposed to go like this…" it was clear to Kallen that the former had sadly passed away.
"Nagata," Kallen called, shocking the man.
"Oh… am I dead already? That's strange… why am I seeing you here? Perhaps… are you here to tell me how it's my fault Minami's dead?" Nagata muttered while driving on the freeway, "Before you take me to hell or wherever, at least let me get this to Naoto… that's all I want right now…"
"Snap out of it!" the red head shouted, "It's sad that Minami's dead, I get it, but right now, we can't afford to be focusing on that." she looked through the dead man's pocket, pulling out Knightmare key, "I'll buy you some time, just make sure you get to Naoto."
Before she could leave, she overheard one final remark from Nagata, "Ah, you really aren't Kallen… there's no way she'd say something so cruel."
Despite this, he continued to drive, allowing for the red head to leave silently, "How'd it go?" Lelouch asked as she passed his hiding spot.
"Minami's dead."
"That's a shame… I'm sorry for your loss."
"Don't be. Though, I will be taking his spot on the Glasgow."
This made Lelouch stand up in protest, "No way! It's too dangerous!"
Kallen grabbed the Prince by his collar, pulling him close, "I told you to have some faith in me." she hovered dangerously close to his lips, "This one of those moments where you have to have faith in me. I know you're worried, but I'll be okay."
Lelouch wanted to deny her from leaving, but knew it would be futile, still, that didn't stop him from trying, "If you die…"
"I won't." she said before kissing him, allowing her lips to linger for a second or two, "We'll be home in time to see Nunally finish her thousandth crane."
Lelouch smiled, "Then it's a promise?" he held out his pinky.
"It's a promise." Kallen wrapped her pinky around the Prince's.
With that, she entered a separate bay that held the red Glasgow, powering it on by entering the key and activation code. Then, the cargo doors opened, allowing for her to jump out, skidding across the road before using the momentum to follow the truck, "Is that a Knightmare-" with her slash harkens, Kallen took out two Apaches effortlessly.
"Things are different now!" she watched as a Sutherland landed in front of her, "This time, I won't be losing any arms to these chumps."
"Second hand trash like you, has no place here!" her opponent, Kewell Sorosei, announced as he readied his rifle for combat.
Kallen smiled and began moving in, dodging bullet after bullet until she got close enough to disarm her opponent, using the rifle to shoot down an incoming Apache. However, she didn't let go of Kewell's Knightmare, as she used it to keep space between her, and another Sutherland that landed to her right. She kept a firm hold on Kewell's shoulder, making sure he couldn't get too far, while another Sutherland landed behind her, but this was exactly what she was hoping for, as she used her newly equipped rifle to destroy her new enemy with two quick bursts.
After that, she threw Kewell into the other Sutherland, knocking them both off the bridge, that's when ahead, another purple machine landed in front of the resistance truck, shooting at it several times, causing it to swerve off the freeway and into a tunnel. Kallen destroyed the machine with a single shot to its abdomen, causing it to explode upon contact. "I can't follow them in there," she muttered while watching the trucks retreating back enter the short tunnels. Behind her, two Sutherland's dropped in, pointing their weapons at her, "Lelouch can take care of himself… I know he can," despite telling herself this, the red head felt her hand shake in nervousness, "Right now, I've got to focus on the fight."
Nagata heaved in and out, clenching his side as it was bleeding profusely from a piece of shrapnel that pierced his side after getting shot at by a Sutherland.
"No signal… from the sound of things… we must be underground," the Prince muttered as the truck rocked up and down, "If only I could get in contact with Naoto, then maybe…" an image of Kallen heading into the red Glasgow and their kiss immediately made him resend that idea, "No way. If he finds out Kallen's piloting that Knightmare…"
Suddenly, the truck came to a stop, "Naoto… please… find me…" Nagata muttered while flicking the truck's transponder on, sending a signal to the Resistance leader's phone. However, due to the tunnel's interference, this message would never reach him.
With that, the truck's loading door opened allowing Lelouch to finally leave, or so he thought, because what intrigued him more was the capsule, "What the hell is this? Weren't you guys supposed to be destroying a refrain lab?" he muttered while messing with the wiring.
From behind him, an Honorary Britannian operative was watching the events unfold, "This is 4-0-4, I've got eyes on the target, moving in to capture." he reported to his superiors, before running in, leading with a spinning kick.
Lelouch barely managed to block the strike, but not without being pinned to the ground, "What the hell!?"
"Are you insane!? Trying to use poison gas to kill everyone?" the soldier questioned while taking his mask off.
Lelouch used his other leg to kick the solder off, "What do you mean!? I'm not here by choice!" he fined ignorance, "And what's this about poison gas?"
"Wait a minute… you're-"
The Prince walked into the light allowing for the soldier to get a good look at his face, "If it's poison gas, then it's most likely Britannia who created it, right? If so, then why not fight against them?"
However, the soldier's next response was something Lelouch could never foresee in a million years, "Lelouch? Is that you?" he then took off his helmet, "It's me, Suzaku."
"Suzaku!? You're… you're a Britannian soldier," the Prince responded with a stunned expression.
"And you… you're a-"
"What are you trying to say!?"
Before Suzaku could respond, the capsule opened, prompting him to move Lelouch out of the way, using his mask to cover his old friend's mouth, in anticipation for gas to leak out. Of course, the gas never came, instead a woman with lime green hair, wearing a straight jacket, rose up, looking at the boys with tired eyes, though, she passed out shortly after. Next, they dragged her out of the truck, where Lelouch asked, "Does this look like poison gas to you, Suzaku?"
"Hey, that's what they told me in the report." the brown-haired boy responded with a shrug while unzipping the leg portion of the straight jacket, allowing the woman to move freely once she regained consciousness.
"Stinking monkey! Being an honorary Britannian won't excuse these actions!" a royal guard commander said while walking in, followed by a large group of soldiers.
"Sir! I was told this was poison gas, but from the looks of things-"
Suzaku was immediately interrupted by the man, "Don't question my orders!"
"This isn't good… I can't get caught like this," Lelouch looked down at the girl, "Whoever this is, they're obviously important, because they were willing to lie about her existence to the grunts. Which means-"
The royal guard pulled out a handgun, and handed it to Suzaku, "However, in light of your outstanding military achievements, I will forgive this transgression if you take this and execute the terrorist."
"But he's not a terrorist!" Suzaku pleaded, "He's just some civilian that got caught up in all this!"
"You insubordinate little-that's an order! Didn't you swear your life and loyalty to Britannia?!"
"I did…but I won't kill innocent civilians," Lelouch mentally breathed a sigh of relief, "I'm sorry, but I can't follow through with your orders."
Without warning, the Royal Guard placed his weapon's barrel against Kururugi's side, and fired a single shot. "Suzaku!"
"Well, schoolboy, it looks like it wasn't a good day to cut class, now was it?" he turned to his soldiers, "Collect the girl and kill the boy."
"Yes, sir!"
Meanwhile, Nagata reached over to a small button that was linked to his satchel charge from earlier, "It looks like we're dying together after all," he looked at Minami, who was still as pale as ever, "Death… to… Britannia… long live… Japan!" with those final words, he pressed the button, blowing up the truck.
"Explosion detected in one of the old tunnel networks in the ghetto," a soldier reported on Prince Clovis' G-1. "The Royal guards said they tried to contain it, but-"
"That's enough!" Bartley cut off the soldier, "My lord, we have to order the destruction of the Shinjuku Ghetto! If word gets out about what we've done-"
"I'll be disowned, I know," Clovis responded calmly.
"Then give the order, please!"
"I wish it were that simple." the Prince looked onto the destroyed ghetto, "I've only just recently mended my relationship with my sister, if I order the destruction of the Ghetto, I'll be back to square one. I can't take that chance." he stood up, outstretching his hand, "I, Prince Clovis La Britannia, order my forces to obliterate any and all terrorists in the Shinjuku Ghetto. That includes anyone who dares to stop us from doing so."
"But, my lord!"
"Bartley, I will give my forces the discretion to decide who's a terrorist or not. If they try to fight back, kill them, if they don't, let them live. It's truly as simple as that."
In other words, he didn't care if they killed every single Eleven in Shinjuku, as he carefully chose his words so he couldn't be held accountable for the genocide.
Outside, Lloyd and Cecile watched as several Sutherland's were fired out of the G-1, landing a few meters from their mobile base, which held the Lancelot. Granted, it was still incomplete regarding the actual technology, but as far as test drives were concerned, it was fully functional, all it was missing, was its pilot. "Where did the Margrave go?" Lloyd muttered while tapping his foot, "Seriously, he agrees to be our test pilot, yet he's nowhere to be seen! At this rate, the battle going to be over, and we won't be able to get a live test of the Blaze Luminous!"
"Perhaps this is for the best, after all, the actual system is a real energy filler killer, and if the Lancelot gets stranded in the middle of nowhere, then that'd be quite the problem." Cecile added with an awkward smile.
"That's why we need a live exercise! This way, we'll be able to determine the problem quickly!"
"I feel like we could get the same results in the safety of a firing range, though…"
"Damn it! I can't believe they killed Suzaku!" Lelouch ran down a hallway, followed closely behind by the green-haired girl, who was woken up by the explosion.
"This is all your fault!" he shouted, throwing the girl to the ground, "If it wasn't for you… Suzaku would be…"
Regardless, they pushed on, despite Lelouch not wanting the girl following him around, since it put a target on his back, she continued to follow him close behind, "Wait here," commanded as they approached the top of some stairs.
"I swear, we don't know anything!" he heard an old lady plead to the Royal Guard.
"Liar! According to the subway tunnel paths, those terrorists are supposed to emerge here," his voice turned sinister, "Unless…you're trying to hide them from us"
"No! I swear we aren't lying!"
Coldly, the royal guard replied, "I don't believe you. Kill them all." After a barrage of gunfire, he continued, "Ah, that made me feel better, it's a shame though, it looks like those terrorist really aren't here."
Suddenly, the sound of a baby crying caught their attention, but it as soon snuffed out by a single gunshot, causing Lelouch to cover his mouth in horror. However, what happened next made his heart drop. His phone rang. He quickly took it out and hung up the call.
"Ah! I can't believe he hung up on me!" Shirley, who was still in Ashford, complained as she tried to call again, this time, the line was turned off, "That's strange…"
Meanwhile, the Prince was slammed against a wall, while the green-haired girl was held back by two guards, "You gave us a good run, but that's a given since you're a Britannian after all." the royal guard pointed his gun at the boy, "Now, you must die"
Before he could pull the trigger, the girl rushed out, shouting, "He mustn't die!"
With that, the guard fired, accidentally killing her, "Damn it! We were supposed to take her in alive! Oh well, we'll just say that when we found her, she was already tortured to death by a group of terrorist, how does that sound, school boy?"
Lelouch couldn't respond, instead, he kneeled next to the girl's body, "Am I really going to die here? But I haven't done anything…" images of his sister flashed through his mind, her bright smile as she folded a paper crane, despite everything that's happened to her, she still managed to keep that smile. But there was one more image, no, more like one more piece of that image missing, "Kallen…" the red head was giggling alongside his sister folding paper cranes, "I'm sorry… it looks like I broke our promise…"
That's when the green-haired girl grabbed his hand, "If I grant you power, could you go on? I propose a deal. In exchange for this power, you must agree to make my one wish come true. Accept this contract, and you accept its conditions, while living in the world of humans, you will live unlike any other. A different providence, a different time, a different life. The power of the king will condemn you to a life of solitude. Are you prepared for this?"
"What is this!?" memories of a life he never lived before flashed through his mind, alongside a Geassed planet, hundreds of kids with Geass markings on them, the sword of Akasha screaming out in anguish. "Yes! I hereby accept the terms of your contract!"
With that, the memories stopped, returning him to reality, "Any last words, schoolboy?" the royal guard asked while pointing his gun at Lelouch."
"Say? How should a Britannian who detests his own country live his life?"
"What are you? Some kind of radical?"
A memory of the Black Knight's marching on the Viceroy palace flashed in his mind, "No… I'm the furthest thing from it." a Geass symbol became present in his left eye, "I, Lelouch Vi Britannia, command you… to die!"
In the next instance, all the soldier's eyes began to glow red, "Happily your highness!" the Royal guard said while pointing his gun at his own head, "Fire!"
One by one, the once proud Britannian soldiers fell to the ground, lifeless. "Is his Geass?" Lelouch muttered, "So this kind of power really does exist… now I have the power to obliterate Britannia!" that's when those memories flashed in his mind, "Although… I wonder, are those false memories? Or are they premonitions of the future?" he took out his phone, "Nevertheless, I need to assist Naoto, ASAP."
AN: This chapter was closely similar to first episode of Code Geass with a few things missing like the Clovis' speech about the terrorist bombing that killed eight Britannians, the chess situation being different, and Villetta no longer being present in the battle of Shinjuku.
There's a lot that needs to be done in Shinjuku, but depending on how writing the next chapter goes, it'll either end next chapter or in two or three chapters (I'd personally bet on the latter, but the former is always possible.)
