Myrcella took a breath. Things had moved quickly since the attempt on her life. There had been more attempts from the Wildlings to breach the Wall. Some had succeeded, others had failed. But the burning of their bodies was growing. Then there were reports that the Bastard of the Dreadfort had grown wild. Myrcella hadn't known much about him before this, but Robb had told her that the man was responsible for his brother's Domeric's death. And that he had a history of doing other things.
And then there was a letter she'd had from Uncle Renly saying that Tommen had fallen ill. Given that he'd fallen ill after he'd sent that letter to her, Myrcella knew exactly what had befallen her brother. Joffrey had no doubt taken out his anger on Tommen and something more was going to happen.
Now, Tyrion was here. Having come back from the Wall and now on his way to King's Landing. Myrcella and Robb had spoken about what they were going to say to Tyrion for days now, and now the moment was here. She worried that the words would come out wrong and that things would go the wrong way.
Thankfully, Robb took the first word.
"Lord Tyrion, thank you for stopping by. And thank you for agreeing to this private meeting."
Tyrion nodded.
"There was an issue we wished to speak to you about."
Myrcella cringed slightly, there was a way to move into this discussion, a way that Robb would need to learn if things escalated. But for now, this would suffice.
"And what is that?" Tyrion asked. Looking not at Robb but at her.
Myrcella answered then. "There was an attempt on my life." She saw no reason to beat around the bush about it. It was better to get to the point.
"What?!" Tyrion exclaimed.
"The man seems to have come with the royal party when they were visiting Winterfell." Myrcella continued. "And it seems he was paid a decent amount of money to stay here when the royal party went south." They'd found where he'd been staying-in a back room of the stables, a place that had been abandoned years ago according to Maester Luwin-he'd had a letter in his bed and clothes.
"Do you know who paid him?" Tyrion asked. Myrcella was relieved that he didn't ask her how she'd survived or if she was fine. He got right to the point.
"We have a suspicion." Myrcella said. She pulled out the letter that they'd found and handed it to Tyrion. "Look at the seal."
Tyrion glanced down and then looked up at her. "This is the Lannister seal."
"Yes and given that there are only a few people who are allowed to use it, our list of suspects is considerably narrowed." Myrcella said.
"And who are those suspects?" Tyrion asked.
"Well, yourself, grandfather, Mother, Uncle Jaime or Joffrey." Myrcella said.
"Well, neither I, Tywin or Jaime have any reason to kill you." Tyrion said simply.
"You think that the Queen could want her daughter killed?" Robb asked sounding shocked. Myrcella truly envied him, with his happy family dynamics.
Tyrion ignored Robb and focused on Myrcella, Myrcella looked at her uncle and waited. Eventually, her uncle spoke. "Cersei would only feel the need to remove you if she thought you were a threat to her plans for Joffrey. And that could only be the case if you were to directly renounce your Lannister ancestry. Which I do not think you have done."
"I am a Baratheon first, but yes." Myrcella acknowledged.
"In which case we can remove her from the list. Which leaves Joffrey." Tyrion said.
"And Joffrey has never ever liked me. And now that I am married to Robb, his reason to not like me has grown." Myrcella said.
"Why is our marriage more reason for him to act?" Robb demanded.
"Because now if I wanted to, I could rally an army to remove him from the throne." Myrcella said.
"What?" Robb replied sounding confused.
Myrcella exhaled. "Joffrey has long been convinced that because our father prefers me to him, that I would try and take the throne from him. It's not true. I do not want the throne. But he has long thought it."
Robb's jaw had dropped open and Myrcella was not sure how to soothe him then. Thankfully he remained quiet, and Tyrion spoke.
"Where was Ser Arys when the attempt was made on you?"
"I told him to rest." Myrcella said.
"Do you trust him?" Tyrion asked.
"Yes." Myrcella said.
"Then keep him close," Tyrion said, nodding to the knight who was stood close by. "and I will make sure to keep an eye on Joffrey when I am back in King's Landing."
Myrcella nodded and then Tyrion asked. "Where is Lady Stark? I noticed she wasn't there when I rode in."
Myrcella shared a look with Robb, she knew Robb wanted to keep mother's absence hidden, but this was Tyrion. This was a man Myrcella trusted. Robb nodded slightly to show that he agreed to her telling the man.
"She has gone to King's Landing to tell Lord Stark; she took the weapon that was used against me." Myrcella said.
Tyrion's eyes widened. "Then I will need to move for White Harbour and take a ship from there."
"Why?" Myrcella asked.
"Because Petyr Baelish will be the first person she meets, whether she wants to or not. And Gods alone knows what he might say to her." Tyrion said.
"What do you mean?" Robb asked.
Tyrion looked at Robb then. "Baelish has been infatuated with your mother from the time he was a young boy. He has made many claims about her and him. And as such he will try and distract her from those claims. He also hates your father and your family as much as he hates mine."
"So, you think he might try and spark a war?" Myrcella asked getting what the man was hinting.
"Yes." Tyrion said.
"Then you had best get going." Myrcella said simply.
