AN: New story! I've just recently gotten into Sue Thomas F. and I love the premise of the show and ALL of the characters so much. I don't write fanfic that much anymore, but after watching Sue Thomas I had too many ideas that I needed to write down. Rated T for violence and language in some chapters. Enjoy!

The Bullpen today was unbearably hot, and the humidity outside wasn't helping. On top of that, the air conditioning busted, and couldn't be fixed until the following day. Myles tried his hardest to convince Randy - albeit with a few choice words - to fix it, but alas, their colorful conversation went through one ear and out the other…on purpose.

Disheveled from the heat, Jack said whilst tossing papers on his desk, "Man, I can't believe we have to endure this; I can't work in these conditions. How much do you want to bet that if this happened to Randy, he'd have his AC working within the hour."

Tara said, quickly, "Ten dollars."

Dramatic - as always - Myles replied, "Hey, I tried with that witch, and if it weren't for my persistence, we wouldn't be seeing any progress for at least a week. It reminds me of your recent bomb case, Bobby? How's that coming along?"

"Shut up, Myles," Bobby said, giving his co-worker a soft smile. "It's coming along."

"Do you have any leads at all?"

"Not really. Care to assist me?"

The other man examined Bobby from head to toe, "I just might, Mr. Manning." He took a sip of water since hot coffee was out of the question on such a hot day.

"You're sweating like a pig," Bobby retorted.

"So are you," Myles shot back.

Then, Lucy appeared behind Myles with a package in hand. "Hey Guys."

Myles jumped three feet. "Woah! Would you make some noise when you walk?"

"Sorry Myles." She then turned to Bobby, and offered him a generously sized package. "It's for you."

With a raised brow, Bobby asked, "For me…from who?"

Lucy shrugged. "I don't know…the mailman brought it in."

Without haste, Bobby took his feet off his desk and reached for the package; but, before he had a chance, a familiar hand swiped it out of Lucy's grasp.

"Woah, woah, woah…we have a secret admirer," Myles said, holding the package at the level of his eyes, "I wonder who it could be from?" He then sniffed the outer contents of the box.

Bobby tried reaching for the package again. "What're you…a bloodhound? Give it here, mate."

But Myles continued, "The Leland bloodline's sense of smell is equivalent to a bloodhounds. That is an extreme compliment, thank you."

Lucy muttered, "And he's as threatening as a golden retriever."

Levi made a grunt and cocked his head when he heard his breed being called upon by friends on the other side of the room.

Tara chimed, "Or he's as threatening as a chihuahua; he's all bark, but no bite."

The team laughed at Myles' expense. Myles then said, "Hmm…from what 'this dog' is smelling, I smell chocolate." He shot his head back at Bobby, "Can I have one?"

Finally managing to swipe the gift from Myles' clutches, Bobby said, "Snoopin' around people's packages is gonna get you killed one day, mate."

With dry sarcasm oozing from his mouth, Myles replied, "Y'know, I think I'll pass on the chocolate. In this heat, the chocolates are probably melted now." The man then unbuttoned his collar as he took a seat at his desk beside Bobby. He agreed with Jack. How could anyone work in these scorching conditions?

Myles then watched his neighbor carefully. Bobby shook the mystery package, and examined the outside briefly before setting it aside.

Myles chimed, "Well…are you gonna open it?"

"Why are you so interested, Myles? Are you my secret admirer?"

"Ohhh - far from it. I just wanted to see if I'm right. Besides, I am the official package sniffer, because unlike everyone else in this room, I find it troubling when FBI agents receive anonymous gifts and accept them. You never know…a head could be in one of those packages…and then your life would never be the same again."

Bobby could only sigh at his friend's remarks. "Relax, Myles. Those who do send us packages…well…we usually know them. For example," he lifted the paper, "judging by the beautiful handwriting on this label, I'm guessing that this present is from my girlfriend."

Myles' smile quickly fell after hearing that statement. It wasn't new news in the Bullpen that Bobby was dating again; but he had only known the girl for a couple of weeks, and he was head over heels for her. Myles then went into the filing cabinet behind his desk to finally start some work.

Bobby opened the gift. Inside was a batch of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, and laying on top of the cookies was a small pink note that read: "Have a wonderful day, Sweetie." Love Beth. Bobby smiled at the thoughtful gift. He then grabbed the first cookie he saw, and ate it in front of Myles.

Myles shot back, "Is this your way of telling me that my smelling senses are fraudulent?"

"Yeah," Bobby laughed as he ate the cookie.

Myles loathed how happy the man in front of him looked.

On the other side of the room, Sue tried to remain focused on her work. Currently, she was gathering intelligence for a potential drug deal happening in the Washington area. Her mission was to gather intelligence, and then hand it over to the local authorities, where they would then carry out a raid. Easy, right? Not to her. Tara and the others were better at this than she was, but despite being an agent in the FBI for five years, she still felt as if she were millennials behind them.

Jack, sweating profusely, casually approached Sue. Levi made sure to catch Sue's attention. He put his paws on her lap, and she immediately looked beside her. When she saw it was Jack, she gave him the widest grin. "Hey, Jack. You look like you're sweating bullets."

"That's because I really am. I feel like I'm dying. I can't even concentrate, and I'm getting grumpy."

Sue continued smiling at him as if nothing were wrong.

"How can you be smiling in working conditions like this? Can you talk to Randy instead of Mr. Sweet-talker over there?"

Sue just chuckled at Jack, and it was starting to tick him off. "I'm just checking up on you. How are you doing on your case? Do you need any help at all? I know working on a case alone like this can be…overwhelming to say the least."

Sue said, "It's alright, Jack. I think I can manage. I think I'm actually getting somewhere. All I need to know is where the drug deal is happening and then I can leak it to Washington's police force. I have an informant."

Jack leaned over to look at Sue's computer screen. She had a WORD document open, but there was barely anything written on it. He tried reading it, but the words didn't make any sense. "Sue, I don't think you're getting anywhere in here; it's too hot. Believe me, it's really hard to concentrate when the office is a makeshift sauna. Maybe you can gather intelligence outside, and possibly in an air conditioned building."

Sue thought for a moment. "Yeah, actually I can. I have an informant I can talk to."

"Great," Jack said, "Myles!"

Myles turned his chair around to face the couple, "Yes, sparky?"

"Sue needs some help with her case. She's going to an informant's house, and she needs a chauffeur. It'll give you a chance to get out of this hell on earth."

"Oh - thank god," Myles said while grabbing his suit jacket and keys without hesitation, "an air conditioned car. Let's go Sue, there's no time to lose. Maybe I'll run into Randy along the way, and give him a piece of my mind again, albeit the Rottweiler within me will be released."

Sue looked at Jack with a cheeky smile. "I'll make sure the chihuahua gets home safely."

Jack then said, "Remember…we have a reservation at seven tonight. Don't be late."

Sue smiled at the thought of another fancy dinner with her sweetheart. Her and Jack have been in a romantic relationship for a while now. At first, they kept it a secret, but eventually got found out and reprimanded for it; but, after mountains of paperwork, questioning and proving that they could do their jobs despite being in a romantic relationship, they were finally allowed to showcase their feelings towards one another. "That's right," Sue said, "I'll remember. Let's go, Levi! We've got a job to do."

And Levi barked back in agreement.

Bobby then whined, "What? Jack! How come he gets to go? That's not fair."

Myles took a jab at Bobby as he walked past him and out the door. "Oh - someone call the WAHmbulance."
