Chapter 1

Yafya was walking back home with his head held high. It would be the best time to retire and just hang out with his rekindled old friend Gosha, but the horse had other things on his mind.

With the Black Market demolished and the infamous hybrid named Melon behind bars, the horse was ready to take things easy, maybe retire in the future. However, that will have to wait if the city still reeks of sin that the market had made.

When he entered his home, his paramour, a palomino mare was waiting for him by the sofa. She batted her long eye lashes at him. "You're home. For a moment, I thought I might leave," she pouted, enticing him with a swish of her tail.

Now Yafya was no stranger to all of this but it was all for a short time. A horse like him in his fifties should take things easy due to his age racing close to his sixties. However, this city will never sleep until all carnivore perpetrators were caught.

"I am a stallion of my word," he nickered, inviting himself into the warmth of her embrace and the covers over them. Throughout his life, he never thought of settling down because it would interfere with his work.

But now, he was almost certain that his crime-fighting days were about to end.

After a few romps, he received a call from his phone. Slipping away from the bed, he answered from the bathroom after noticing a familiar ID. "This better be important, Gosha," he grumbled, betraying the lightness he was feeling whenever his friend called.

"Oh, it is! I thought as the Beastar, you would know what to do," Gosha replied on the other end. "I met two carnivores that weren't local in the area. They were visiting a few friends and I offered them to stay at my place. Don't worry, I have all of the disinfectants and-"

"You let them stay?" the stallion's voice asked in disbelief. His ears pinned back while his mane was tousled from his late night activities. Gosha was undeniably the worst pacifist he had ever met. They were supposed to be Beastars together but he HAD to meet a she-wolf and get her pregnant.

And what did that result in? An idiot grandson of a wolf who couldn't tell a difference between a zebra crossing and an actual zebra.

"Who are they and where did they come from?" Yafya demanded, putting on his clothes so that he could 'meet' these foreign carnivores. Throughout his life, animals outside of the city, let alone country, were rare. This moment could be life-threatening if he wasn't there.

"Oh, they are an American alligator and a sphinx cat," the Komodo dragon answered. "Thought I must warn you if you ever come over, be prepared."

His heart dropped to his stomach. The herbivore fear was still there but he squashed them to put on his Beastar mode. "What do you mean?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you. When you have the time, do come over and I'd like you to meet them. I mentioned to them about you and how we were friends."

The stallion believed that their friendship was on the line if those carnivores had done something to that optimistic dragon. He ended the call as he prepared himself to leave. He wasn't going to let Gosha be the hero of this.

Oh no, not this time!

...

When Yafya finally arrived, Gosha was happy to see him to the point his venom almost spilled out of his mouth again. Komodo dragons tend to do that whenever they were excited or happy to see someone they like.

Of course, meeting Gosha came with disinfectants and sanitisers before stepping into the premise. If non-venomous animals were to come into contact with them, it would be an instant death. Just ask his wife- oh wait, she was gone for the sakes of love after all!

"Where are they?" Yafya demanded, trying to keep his composure. He had a gun inside of his holster. So far, the house looked as clean as expected with a smell that was similar to the hospital.

Gosha was very careful about animals coming over after that incident.

"Lou is asleep in my room," he explained, gesturing to the closed door, "so you might meet him tomorrow. Hershel is in the bathroom freshening up. In all my years, I've never met animals such as them."

Yafya raised a brow. "You've never met an alligator or a cat?"

"Nothing like that!" Gosha laughed. "It's just that- ah, you're done, Hershel? This is my friend that I've been talking about. Yafya, meet Hershel."

The sphinx cat lets out a purr. "Pleasure to meet you. Your dragon friend here insists that we stay here instead of a hotel. Can you believe it? Our first time here indeed! 'Ello? Stunned to see me? Well, I can't see you so speak up."

Yafya was lost for words. It wasn't the fact that Gosha brought two foreign carnivores into his home. His eyes were glued to the cat's unable to form a word or movement because of a certain feature:

The sphinx cat had holes from where his eyes used to be.

I know this is short but there will be longer chapters soon. I thought of making this short fanfic for fun and practice drawing out my characters for my Gryphon Cross books where they are the elder characters

Hope you like it
