At the castle, it was patrol time for at least a couple clan members. Goliath had assigned Brooklyn and Lexington to go out on patrol tonight together, and they were perfectly fine together. Brooklyn was anxious to get out and do something anyway.
The two of them were patrolling a little close to Gen-U-Tech on this night. They hadn't seen anything suspicious up until this point. Then, all of a sudden, some movement in an alley caught their attention.
"Hey, look." Lex pointed out. "What's that?"
Brooklyn looked too. The figure looked small, but he didn't recognize it right off the top of his head. "Let's check it out." The red one declared in a firm voice. They started descending.
The creature in the alley suddenly heard something from above despite hearing car horns and sirens from the city. He looked up and saw some creatures coming down at him and he backed up. He was in a dead-end alley anyway. He gasped and backed away.
Brooklyn and Lexington landed on the ground to see what they were dealing with. When they got a proper look at the creature in front of them, their eyes immediately lit up. The creature looked somewhat familiar.
"Get away from me!" The creature exclaimed, sounding like a kid's voice. It was clearly scared.
"No, don't be afraid, little guy. We won't hurt you." Brooklyn stepped forward, speaking gently.
Then, there were sirens heard from behind them. "Great." Lex stated. "He must be being tracked." Lex figured. "Come here, little guy. Those guys are bad news." He tried his luck with the kid.
"Stay away! Those guys want to hurt me!"
"We'll protect you from them." Brooklyn declared. "But you have to come here first, little guy."
The young Skeksis saw that these creatures were different. "What are you?" he asked fearfully.
"We're gargoyles." Lex replied. "Protectors of this city."
"Don't let them get me!" Chamberlain screeched. He was cowering down. Men were now getting out of the trucks armed with tranq guns.
"There it is, but it's not alone?" One of the men asked.
"Don't you see? It's run into some of the gargoyles!" Bruno said disgustedly.
"Great. That's the last thing we need to get the little monster back!" Another man exclaimed. Then they started shooting.
Brook and Lex heard that. "Come here, Kid." Brook blurted out and they began to run forward when the men started shooting. It shocked the little Skeksis and the big red one scooped him up before jumping behind a dumpster.
Brooklyn then remembered back when he dealt with Maggie like this for the first time and he remembered pulling the wrist tracker off her wrist when he grabbed her. He knew it was Gen-U-Tech people this time, and he quickly searched for a tracker on the small creature.
"Ah! Let go of me!" The kid shrieked.
"Listen, Kid, you gotta hold still. We won't let them get you again." Brooklyn said gently. He looked on the kid's arms and found a wrist tracker on one of his upper arms. "Lex, get this off of him!"
Lex saw what his brother was talking about, and he quickly grabbed it and pulled it off. "There, now they can't get you back." Lex declared.
Chamberlain looked down at the device. "What is that?" he asked.
"It's how they track you down." Lex replied. "But now, we've got to get out of here."
The two of them knew there was a risk of getting darted, but they were going to save this kid. They both then quickly jumped onto the dumpster and took to the air again. The kid in Brooklyn's arms screamed at being lifted off the ground so suddenly, as he had never done that.
The humans stopped firing. "Come on, we'll track them down." Bruno exclaimed but didn't realize that the tracker was back in the alley.
When they got into their trucks, they didn't see a signal leading away, but rather a beeping down in the alley and they went to check it out. They found the tracker and were ticked. Now there was no way of tracking the creature down. They could only go back to Gen-U-Tech and give Sevarius the bad news.
Brooklyn and Lexington had just barely managed to escape the humans with the dart guns with the little creature. "Let me go!" He screamed frantically.
"You may want to reconsider that request, Kid." Brook replied. "Let's land. I think we're far away enough." Lex nodded in agreement.
The two gargoyles descended but to a high building and landed, letting the little Skeksis go. He ran a good distance from them. "Stay away from me!" he screeched.
"It's alright, little guy. We won't you." Lex tried to tell him.
"What are you going to do with me?" Chamberlain demanded.
"We were saving you from those evil humans. They would take you and do who knows what to you." Brooklyn replied.
"I know that they done terrible things to me!" The kid screeched.
"I promise you, little guy, we won't do anything like what they've done to you. We want to protect you from them. Trust us. We're not like humans. We're your friends." Brooklyn explained gently. "I'm Brooklyn and this is Lexington. What's your name, little guy?"
"Chamberlain." The Skeksis replied.
The reply instantly had the two of them remembering. They looked at each other in shock.
"Look, Chamberlain, were you told anything of what you are, or who your parents were?" Brooklyn asked curiously.
"No. I was just told that I am alone in this world and that my parents are dead." Chamberlain replied. He was still keeping his distance from the two gargoyles. "Why? Am I one of you?"
"No, not exactly, but we knew your father." Lex told him.
"Where is my father, really? Can he tell me more about what I am?" Chamberlain asked incredulously.
"Well, your father had to leave for his own safety. But we know what you are. Your kind are called Skeksis." Brooklyn explained.
"Why did he leave me behind?" Chamberlain asked.
"He didn't know anything about you. Neither did we at the time." Brooklyn replied. "If you came from Gen-U-Tech, then they did something to him to get you. We can't tell you all that happened because we don't know."
"We can just tell you what we know about your father." Lex said.
Little Chamberlain was shocked at what he was hearing. He had never been told this before. The humans had been lying to him all along. "Is my dad still alive?" he asked.
"From what I last knew he was, but getting to where he lives is impossible." Brooklyn said.
"I don't want to be alone here! I was almost injured or killed tonight just trying to get away from that evil place!" Chamberlain screeched in despair.
"Chamberlain was your father's name too. Apparently, you were named after him." Brooklyn stated.
"How old are you, uh, Chamberlain?" Lex asked.
"I was told I am about eight years old but have no memory of anything before that." Chamberlain replied.
Lex and Brook looked at each other in worry. The kid before them might be the size of an eight-year-old child, but SkekSil hadn't been here that long ago. Something wasn't right here. He must have been grown in a test tube up until he was the size of an eight-year-old child, like the clones had been.
Brooklyn knew that possibly Xanatos had some explaining to do. They had to take this Skeksis home with them, but to explain to him to not be afraid was something else.
"Listen, Chamberlain, we were friends of your father, even if you don't remember him. If he had known about you, we know that he wouldn't abandon you." Brooklyn explained. "He would want you to trust us, his friends. We could explain things better to you at our home, our castle. The more we stay out here, the more risk of getting captured by those humans."
"Do we… have to fly there?"
"Yes, we do, because it's high on a building." Lex replied.
"I promise that we'll make it as easy as possible for you and I will hold on to you. I won't drop you; I promise." Brooklyn decreed. "And we glide. We don't fly."
"You can feel free to cover your eyes if you want." Lex said gently. "Will you trust us to take you somewhere safe?"
Chamberlain still didn't know anything about these two, but they weren't treating him like the humans had, and they had told him they knew his father; at least one of his parents. "Okay. I think I can go with you." He said reluctantly.
He started to come toward them hesitantly. "So, who is carrying me? I can't glide."
"That's perfectly fine. I'll be the one to carry you there. Usually, take off might be scary for first timers, but once you feel it and get used to it, it starts to feel more fun." Brooklyn explained.
Chamberlain let Brooklyn pick him up gently in his arms. "You take off first, Lex." Brook ordered.
The two of them walked toward the edge. Little Chamberlain was still scared of take-off from before. The little Skeksis closed his eyes, clutching Brook's neck more.
Brooklyn kind of liked this feeling, of a kid needing him. And it was the son of his former friend. He hoped Goliath let him stay.
Lex jumped off the building first before Brook spread his wings and took to the air too. The two of them got higher in the sky.
Chamberlain could feel the rush of wind on his body. It was the month of June, and it was at least plenty warm outside. Brooklyn knew he would be cold if it had been winter months out.
"We'll get you some clothes when we get home. Your father liked to wear clothes." Brooklyn said gently.
As the gliding progressed, Chamberlain wanted to see what he was missing, and he turned around at one point. He saw all the lights below him, but seeing how far they were up in the air still frightened him. He cringed onto Brooklyn even more. "How much longer?" He whined fearfully.
The red gargoyle could feel the small Skeksis' little talons digging into his skin. They were sharp. It was alright. He would heal in the daylight. "We're almost home." Brook said.
Pretty soon, the two gargoyles arrived back at Castle Wyvern. They touched down on the battlements. "We're here at last." Brooklyn announced.
Chamberlain finally turned around and released some of his grip on Brook's neck. The red gargoyle put him down on his feet again. He looked at his new surroundings. This place was huge! It was also more outdoorsy.
"Where am I?" Chamberlain asked. He looked around and saw the lights of the buildings below.
"This is our home, the Eyrie Building." Lex replied. "It's also called Xanatos Enterprises. The castle here on top was formerly from a country called Scotland. It's called Castle Wyvern, named after the hill we were hatched on, Wyvern Hill in Scotland a long time ago." Lex explained.
Chamberlain looked at him curiously. "Wow. Quite a place."
"Yeah, it is. We'll show you around, but now that you're here, you also have to meet our other clan members." Brooklyn declared. "Your father's other name was SkekSil. We called him Sil for short."
"Okay. But how many other gargoyles are there besides you?" Chamberlain asked.
"We have seven in our clan." Lex replied.
"A big giant purple one is our leader, Goliath. He might come off as scary to a small child, that's why we're telling you about him, so you're prepared a little before you see him." Brook explained. "Then he has a daughter, the only girl in our clan that has his coloring, named Angela."
"Then there's our blue-green brother, Broadway. And our oldest, who is brown and wears clothes and carries a sword, named Hudson. Then there's our pet, Bronx. He's a dark blue and barks rather than talks. He also doesn't have wings like us. Bronx can seem scary too, but he's a big softy." Lex explained.
"But there are humans here as well that share our home. These are the humans you can trust." Brooklyn said. "They are David Xanatos, his wife, Fox, and their son, Alex. Then we also get a regular visitor, Elisa Maza. And there's Owen Burnett, a servant guy. They all will be curious about you."
"I don't want to be near humans!" Chamberlain screeched.
"It's alright. They won't hurt you, but you have to know that we can't be with you all day either. You see, we gargoyles also happen to turn to stone in the daytime. It's our way of sleeping. We wake up again at sunset." Lex took a turn at explaining.
"Why? Can't you stop it?"
"No, we can't unfortunately." Brook replied. "We need to get you introduced to the clan while there's still plenty of night left for us. Come with us."
Little Chamberlain held onto Brooklyn's hand as he led him into the castle's inside area. Lex walked beside him. They led him to a big room that had a table in it. It was the dining room.
"This is our dining room." Lex said.
"I'll stay with him. You go get Goliath and the others." Brooklyn ordered.
"Alright. I'll be back soon." Lex replied. He went out the nearest door.
Chamberlain watched him leave them. He was scared of everything right now. This outside world that he was seeing was all new and strange, and scary. But it was fascinating too. He looked up at the red gargoyle next to him. "Maybe you can call me the other name too." He said.
Brooklyn smiled. "Sure. First, you have to meet our clan. I'm sure Goliath will let you stay when he hears about you."
While they were waiting, Brooklyn also got curious about what little Chamberlain liked to eat. "So, um, did your human caretakers feed you well too?" he asked.
"They'd feed me only after they made me complete tasks, even when I was really hungry." Little Sil replied. "I hated being with them."
"Sorry you went through that. So, what do you like to eat?"
"Meat. That's all I've been fed." Sil replied. "Why? Did my dad eat other things too?"
"Yeah. He would eat some fruits and veggies too, occasionally." Brook replied.
"Might want to try them too."
"That's nice. Even though gargoyles all have sharp teeth, we like to eat other food groups too." Brook stated.
Then the door opened up and other gargoyles filed into the room. Little Sil then backed into Brooklyn. To them, Lex hadn't been kidding that there was a child who was a dead ringer for the Skeksis Chamberlain in their dining room.
"Wow. You sure weren't kidding, Lex. He looks exactly like him." Broadway declared with wide eyes.
"Where did you find him, you two?" Goliath asked.
"We were patrolling near the Gen-U-Tech area." Brooklyn replied. "We saw him running down an empty dead-end alley. We were lucky to just get away from the humans that were after him."
"Was it kind of like when we first saw Maggie?" Broadway asked.
"Yeah, it was. I made sure to get the tracker off of him, which was on one of his upper arms here." Brook explained.
"Little one, I am Goliath, leader of this clan. What is your name?" Goliath introduced himself as gently as he could. He saw the child was scared the way he clung to his Second in Command. He cloaked his wings to make himself seem less threatening.
"Go on, you can tell him, little guy." Brooklyn coaxed him. He kept a hand on his shoulder.
"Ugh, been called… Chamberlain since know of…" The child still clung to the red male.
"He's never been in the outside world until tonight, Goliath. Sevarius must have done something to create him since Sil never knew he had a kid. Just like what he did with us with the clones." Brook explained.
"Yes, most likely. And he went back to his world." Goliath declared.
"Do we dare take him there too?" Angela asked.
"I really don't want Demona back in this castle after what she tried to do." Goliath growled at that. "Little Chamberlain stays here until we find out more about him. I can see he's just a scared, lost child."
Then Angela stepped forward, kneeling down to his level. "Hi there. I'm Angela." She smiled.
Little Sil gave the female a new look. He had only been around men all his life, never hearing a female's voice before. Her soft voice was rather comforting. The others had been right; she had her dad's coloring.
"You… you have big one's coloring." Sil pointed out.
"Yes. He is my father. I am his daughter." Angela described to him.
"Hello. I'm Broadway." Broadway waved at him.
Bronx made his way further up. He could smell someone new in the room. He sniffed and he scared the little Skeksis back into Brooklyn's arms. "It's okay, boy. He's just scared seeing this place and us for the first time. He'll get used to you." Brook said to the gar dog.
Broadway had a hold on him to hold him back. Then Hudson stepped forward. "Hi there, lad. I am Hudson." The elder said gently.
Sil looked up at the elder. He had never heard the word lad before. "What does that mean?" he asked.
"Lad means little boy to our elders, or young man." Brook replied. "He calls us lads all the time too."
"Except me. He calls me Lass. It means young girl." Angela giggled.
"I think I'm a young boy." Sil said. He was beginning to relax but wasn't going to stray far from Brooklyn's grip.
"Shouldn't Elisa also meet him too before sunrise?" Lex asked.
"Come to think of it, yes, she should. I'll call her." Goliath replied. He went to go call her on his earphone.
"Not want to meet another human." Chamberlain whined. "They hurt me too much."
"Elisa won't hurt you, little guy. She is the kindest, nicest human you'll ever meet." Angela told him. "She's like a mother figure to us."
"Never had a mother." Sil said.
"That's too bad." Broadway stated. "We all had great mothers growing up. We had many moms, in fact, and dads."
"I had humans raise me and my rookery kin." Angela declared. "One surrogate mom and two surrogate dads."
The gargoyles were just trying to help the child feel more comfortable about being in their presence and they would be willing to help him overcome his fears and get to know their world.
"You'll be in great hands being in our clan, Laddie." Hudson said. "Course, we haven't had young ones in the clan for a long time. Will be a treat to have you with us."
Chamberlain could tell from the way they were all talking to him that they meant him no harm compared to how the other men talked to him. Soon, Goliath returned. "Elisa is on her way. She wants to meet you, Chamberlain."
"Do I have to?" Sil asked in a nervous tone.
"You need to. She often helps us in the case of after we turn to stone. She'll be able to help you more in the morning when we go into our stone sleep that we told you about." Brook told him.
"Maybe while we wait for Elisa, we should get little Chamberlain some clothes." Angela suggested.
"Never wear clothes." Sil said.
"Your dad wore clothes." Lex stated. "He wore these elaborate red, black, and white robes." Lex reflected.
"He wore his lighter ones here when it was really warm and the heavier ones when it got colder." Brook said.
"How come you not wearing clothes?" Sil asked more sarcastically. "If I would have to."
"We are. We just don't need to wear them like humans do. In colder times, we aren't so prone to getting cold like humans do so easily." Lex explained. "But the humans that live here would probably prefer that you do."
"Come along, Laddie. We'll get you clothes of your own liking." Hudson urged.
The clan led little Sil to the bedroom quarters. Brooklyn led him to the clothing area. Surely there were clothes that could fit an eight-year-old sized child. And little Sil didn't have spikes on his back like his dad did. Likely, they would grow in later. But there were little white buds on his back under his feathery hair.
They all looked but couldn't find much. There would likely need to be specially made clothes for him and the Xanatos' could afford that. It would take some measurements and such.
Little Sil was skinnier than what his father had been too. They soon did find some smaller clothes for him. Some navy shorts for his lower half, and a skinnier red adult man's shirt for his top half for now. A hole was made in the back of the shorts for his tail.
By the time they were done getting him dressed, they went out and met Elisa on the way back to the dining room.
"Hi, guys. I came as fast as I could to meet your new guest." Elisa greeted them.
Chamberlain was so startled that he then clung onto Angela. "It's okay, Chamberlain. This is our good friend, Elisa." She introduced the woman. This was the first human woman he was seeing.
"Hi there, little guy. I don't mean you any harm." Elisa smiled at him.
"You… you knew my dad too?"
"Yes, I did. He saved my life once too and got hurt in the process." Elisa remembered her attack from Demona and on Alex. "Has he met Xanatos and Fox yet?"
"No, but we're getting there. He hasn't been here long. Just a short while. Me and Lex found him just a while ago." Brooklyn explained.
"Where?"
"Nearer to Gen-U-Tech." Lex replied.
"That explains a lot. I should investigate there further." Elisa stated. Anger was boiling her bubble already to think that Sevarius had created a clone of their former Skeksis guest without his consent.
"Please not take me back to them!" Little Sil screeched at her. "They bad!"
"We know they're bad, lad." Hudson declared.
"They tested on me like I wasn't worth a living thing." Sil described.
This made the clan angry hearing about it. "They can't treat a child that way." Broadway declared angrily. His look had hardened.
"We will make sure you're kept safe, Chamberlain." Brooklyn said gently.
While Angela was comforting Sil, Brooklyn then went up to Goliath. "Goliath, I feel like the little guy is comfortable most with me. I feel like I owe Sil to take care of his son since he was my closest friend while he was here. Can I be responsible for him?"
"Be that as it may, Brooklyn, but he will be raised by all of us. But if you feel that strongly about it, yes, you can take him on. But never feel that you can't come to us for help with him." Goliath put a hand on his Second's shoulder.
"Thanks, Goliath." Brooklyn smiled at his leader happily. "He said he's eight years old, but Sil was here not that long ago. Eight months rather perhaps if he was cloned from him."
"Yes. They lied to him. But of course, we don't know how the growth rate at how long he'll be a child and become an adult." Goliath proclaimed.
"No, we don't. But Sil told me that on Thra; his kind couldn't have kids of their own either. Sevarius sure found a way to counteract that." Brook declared.
"We need to inform the Xanatos family too before sunrise, so they aren't shocked that he's here." Angela suggested.
"Since I'm closest to Alex, I'll go get them." Lex offered.
"The Xanatos' are humans you must meet too." Brooklyn told little Sil.
"Okay, but they better not be mean!"
The clan looked at one another. Once upon a time they were, but not now. "They are nice humans too, little guy." Broadway said. "They even have a young son of their own. He's much smaller than you."
Lex left to go find the Xanatos'.
Hearing the statement that there was one that was smaller than him piqued his interest. "How much smaller?" he asked.
"You best not bully Alex, or the parents won't allow you near him." Brooklyn warned him.
"Not bully, just see him." Sil answered.
A short time later, Lex arrived back with David, Fox, Alex, and Owen. They were also surprised at their new guest.
"Well, who do we have here?" David inquired.
"This is Lord Chamberlain's son, named after his father. He's called Chamberlain, but he also said we can call him SkekSil too for short, after I told him about his father's name." Brooklyn introduced him to them.
"Hello there, young Chamberlain. I'm David Xanatos. This is Fox, my wife. This is our son, Alexander, or Alex. And our butler, Owen Burnett." David made the introductions.
Sil could see the boy in Fox's arms. He was smaller than him. Alex was three years old now. Sil thought it perplexing that there was someone here that was smaller than him. He had never seen a human child before.
Fox could see the young Skeksis' interest in her son. "Don't even think about hurting my son, Chamberlain." Fox warned him.
"Not hurt, just want to see closer." Little Sil responded. Her voice was different to him too. He was starting to hear female voices for the first time. They were softer than male voices that he had been so used to.
Fox looked at Brooklyn. The red male nodded. She bent down to show him Alex.
"New play friend!" Alex squealed happily.
"This is young Chamberlain Sil." Angela replied. "You two could become great friends." Everyone hoped it could be that way.
Given how young Alex was, perhaps young Sil could learn things alongside him, just not the magic lessons.
Owen approached David. "Just hope this kid isn't any trouble." He whispered.
"I hope not either. But he could be an incredible asset to the company just as his father was. We owe Alex's life to Sil's father." David whispered back.
"That may be so, but this young one isn't his father and never knew him. He was an experiment created by Sevarius. Hopefully, he won't turn out like Thailog." Owen proclaimed.
"Don't remind me, Owen."
All the humans would be keeping a watch on the little Skeksis. They would make sure that he learned his lessons and behaved. The clan would also make sure he behaved.
Gargoyles would usually let young ones be themselves, but there were only so many actions that they would put up with without consequences. As being raised as one of their adopted children, the clan would be his parents, though Brooklyn wanted to do it more personally when he wasn't busy.
Then suddenly, little Sil's stomach growled out loudly. He put his hands over it. "Hungry. Not eaten yet tonight." He stated.
"That's alright. We'll have a welcome sit-down meal to welcome you to our clan this night." Goliath commended. "Broadway, Angela, if you would do the honors."
"It would be our pleasure, Father." Angela smiled. "What do you like to eat?"
"Meat but want to try other foods too." Sil replied.
She and Broadway went into the kitchen next to prepare a special meal in honor of their guest.
At least all the adults were glad that this child could eat full solid food.
Soon, the food was done, and they all sat down to a meal. Sil sat next to Lex and Brook. This was his first time eating at a table and not in a cage. After getting his food, he watched how the gargoyles ate their food and was now learning how to use what was called silverware. He had always just eaten with his hands, but now, there were only certain foods that could be eaten with his hands.
Chamberlain learned to eat more calmly and with manners. The gargoyles definitely did not want to tell him how Skeksis originally ate. He ate the meat on his plate just fine. It was trying the new foods he had been wanting to try. He ate the fruit and veggies a little more slowly. But he found that mixed veggies were okay, and apples were fine too. Then there were the chocolate fudge cookies for dessert. Those were to die for! They were DELICIOUS!
Chocolate would definitely become one of his favorite foods after meat. The meat he had ate at this meal was a pork tenderloin with no bun.
After the meal, little Sil was shown around the castle. Owen and the Xanatos' went back to their businesses. The clan also split up. Goliath and Hudson, along with Elisa went off to discuss matters about the young Sil. The young adults all helped show Sil around the castle.
"Wow. This sure is a big castle." Sil complimented. But he was getting tired now too. He had had a big night. He yawned.
"Tired?" Brook asked.
"Yes. Where can I lay to sleep?" Sil asked.
"We all have our own bedrooms, though we don't use them often." Lex said.
"Here, how about you share my room." Brooklyn declared right away.
The other three could tell that Brooklyn was taking this rather seriously. They just hoped that Goliath would let him do this. But in a way, they understood. Lord Sil had been his friend the most when he had been here.
He was taken to Brook's room. Little Sil saw how big the room was. "Wow. Never had a big room of my own."
"Well, you're sharing with me for now." Brooklyn declared.
"Okay. Yeah, not want to be alone." Sil replied.
Brooklyn remembered Lord Sil's way of talking of skipping some basic words. Even his son was picking up on some of it too, but then it could just be a child's way of talking too. Only time would tell if they would keep to complete sentences.
Even if Chamberlain missed their stone sleep entrance tonight, there would still be plenty of other chances for him to see it.
Brooklyn tucked little Sil into his bed to have some much-needed sleep. "Good night, Chamberlain. Get some sleep. You've had a big night, as have we." He said gently.
"Hmmm." Sil said. There was that signature hum too. He was definitely Sil's offspring.
Brooklyn let him sleep. The gargoyles then went to go talk to the elders and prepare for sunrise. This had been one big night for them all.
When they joined Goliath, Hudson, and Elisa, they were in the library. "So, what's going on?" Brook asked them.
"We are all to look after him. We will raise him as if he was a gargoyle hatchling. He looks enough like a gargoyle hatchling minus wings. He can learn our ways and become a great warrior for our clan." Goliath proclaimed. "And I know that you, Brooklyn, want to be a sole responsible parent for him, but it just won't be that way. All of us will care for him. That's what our clan system is for."
"I just feel like I owe Sil that much for when he was kidnapped by Demona for Sevarius so long ago." Brooklyn explained.
"We get that, Brooklyn. But we are all a team on this one too, just as we are on everything else." Elisa told him.
"Thanks." Brook replied.
Soon, it was time for sunrise again and the clan all retreated to their parapets to sleep for the day. It was too bad that little Sil got tired. This would be a sight to behold for the first time. But there would be time for it later.
Elisa had to go home for the day to get her own sleep and feed Cagney, her cat. But she would plan to be back later today to make sure that Sil got up comfortably. But then, Fox could possibly help him, as she was a mom. Little Sil needed a mom too, of sorts.
The beginning of this chapter was deeply inspired by the Metamorphosis part where Brooklyn and Broadway first met Maggie. But all else I figured out on my own with a better outcome.
