Chapter 8: Ruins, Restoration and S Class

Natsu whispers to Lucy "I think it'd be best if we start taking shifts to look over the guild; this didn't happen in the old timeline so we should be on guard. I'll take my first watch. I need to let gramps knows about the job anyways." as they look at the pile of rubble that was once the fairy tail guildhall.

Lucy nods her head and heads back to their home to rest while she can. Meanwhile Natsu is outside waiting for the guild master while keeping an ear out and periodically sniffing the air for potential threats to his guildmates or Lucy.

Few Hours Later

Natsu is waiting outside the guild still doing some morning exercises, when he hears Master Makarov arriving at the guild. Natsu walks up to his guild master and says "Hey Gramps I arrived back from my mission last night to find the guild burning to the ground. I was able to eat the fire, however I was too late to save the guildhall."

Makarov's eyes widened and he sighs before saying "Thanks Natsu my boy it could have been a lot worse. Do you have any idea what happened?"

Natsu shakes his head saying "Sorry Gramps i don't have a clue. I have been keeping track of the guild members using my heightened senses, however I haven't sensed any danger."

Makarov smiles a bit glad that Natsu is looking out for his guildmates "Thanks my boy now would you mind helping me set up the basement."

Natsu nods saying "Sure." and then he had an idea "Hey Gramps, i might be able to come up with a way to repair the guild faster if you give me a few hours to work on it."

Makarov Dreyer looked confused and was about to ask what he meant; however, Natsu was already gone completely forgetting to help him with the basement he sighed before turning to clear the debris blocking the entrance to the basement. Which was easy with his titan magic he headed downstairs to prepare the area for when the others arrived.

With Natsu

Natsu is currently out back of his house with a broken boulder in front of him trying to invent a new curse. He had been working on this particular curse for a while now as he always felt bad about all the damage he caused during missions in the old timeline and while he has much greater control of his magic now, he still felt it would be a good idea to have something like this.

So Natsu is working on a curse to hopefully help him repair damage done on a mission. This curse was inspired by Arc of time, however unlike arc of time this only allows him to send an object back in time to repair it and it can't be used on magic or living beings. (In this fanfiction I'm going to make it so living beings who have been turned into another substance, for example stone or ice, are able to be freed with arc of time.)

With Makarov

Makarov is sitting in the basement drinking a mug of beer with the guild trickling in while he contemplates what happened to the guildhall. He is also curious about Natsu the more he thinks about it the less it makes sense Natsu shouldn't have arrived for at least another couple days from his mission, yet he was here to put out the fire before it spread too much and then there is what he said about repairing the guildhall.

He was interrupted from his thoughts when he heard a yell coming from upstairs. Soon afterwards Gray arrived down in the basement after which he walked up to Master Makarov and asked, "What happened to the guildhall?" Makarov sighed and said, "We don't know, all I know is what Natsu told me, and he didn't see it happen, only the aftermath."

Meanwhile

Two figures meet in a cave within a forest. One Guy in a cloak asked, "Did you find it?" To which the second guy who had crimson hair and eyes with black sclera and black horns on his head said, "No I did not whatever it is you're looking for is either not there or is extremely well hidden."

To which the cloaked man grunts and walks away.

After the cloaked figure left the guy with the red hair said to himself "But I did find someone very intriguing to think the gods have once again chosen a mortal to bestow upon great powers. I wonder, Champion of Fire will you burn brightly or will your light fade into the darkness of this world." as he disappears in a whirl of flames.

Back with Natsu

Natsu is trying to revert the destroyed rock back to before it was destroyed, he again tries his curse the pieces of the rock levitate for a second before joining together into what it was before its destruction. Natsu smiled and cheered that he finally succeeded.

He heads back home to check up on Lucy and get some rest before heading to the guild to the guild and greeting everyone.

After greeting his guildmates he heads to Master Makarov sitting on the makeshift bar and says "Hey gramps. I was able to complete what I was talking about; however, it would be better if everyone went outside before I try it on such a large structure."

Makarov, being curious about what he is going to do, agrees and asks everyone to leave the guild's basement and head outside the guildhall. Many are confused but comply since he is the GuildMaster.

When everyone is a safe distance Natsu raises his hands and activates his curse powers while whispering Demon Curse of Restoration. It takes a while due to a lot of the building being burnt to ash however fortunately it wasn't windy so none of it blew away so after a few hours the guild is whole and Natsu collapses to one knee while breathing heavily as he isn't very good with this curse yet.

Everyone is shocked that their guildhall was repaired however Makarov is crying tears of joy thinking of all the money he can save however that thought is short lived when he notices that Natsu had collapsed deciding that he should take the boy to the infirmary to rest he enlarged his hand with titan magic and carried Natsu inside and put him on the infirmary bed.

In Natsu's Dream
Natsu is floating in a vast expanse of golden light with the God of Fire standing in front of him. Before Natsu has a chance to speak Ignis says "You must undergo the trials to regain that which has been sealed within you as it may be needed in the coming days."

To which Natsu nods his head and everything fades to black.

Back in the Infirmary

Natsu slowly wakes up to see a white ceiling and looks around to see he's in the infirmary. He then proceeds to get up and heads out of the infirmary to see the guild celebrating like normal to which he smiles at.

Someone called out to him saying "Master Makarov wanted to see you in his office when you awoke." Natsu turns to the voice which just so happened to be Levy, smiles and says, "Ok I'll head up to his office now."

Natsu knocks on the door before he hears a "Come in." and he enters. "You wanted to see me, Gramps." Natsu asks.

Master Makarov says, "Yes my boy, I just wanted to ask a few questions." as he gestures for Natsu to take a seat. Natsu sits down and tilts his head in confusion before asking "What's up gramps?"

Makarov asks, "What magic do you use?"

Natsu sighs at this and scratches his head in contemplation for a minute before deciding to tell him about his magic and curses and says, "I use 8 different slayer magics although only three of them were first taught to slay creatures they were based off of as well as Requip and Soul Telepathy and..."

Natsu hesitates for a minute before deciding to fill him in on his curse powers as well. He figured it's better to tell him now and explain his side then have someone else do it in a bad way. "I can also use curse powers, any curse power belonging to that of the books of Zeref as well as a variety of my own which I created, since i am E.N.D a half demon brought back to life by his brother." after saying that he was unable to bring himself to look at Makarov tears forming in his eyes as he was afraid of his reaction.

When he heard footsteps, he prepared for the worst; what he wasn't expecting was for Makarov to pat him on the shoulder with a warm smile. Natsu hesitantly met his gaze and was glad not to see hate in his eyes but warmth and kindness. Makarov then says "Natsu, my boy, while I may not have known you very long, I would say I'm a good judge of character and I can tell you are a very kind-hearted individual. So, what if you are a demon and can use the curses from the books of Zeref as long as you don't misuse them, you'll always be welcome here in my book."

Natsu hugs the old man with him returning the embrace and starts crying tears of joy for so long since he found out he worried how people might react and while he wasn't comfortable telling anyone else, he was glad that the person he considers a grandfather accepted him.

After Natsu calmed down Makarov said, "Anyways the reason I asked you here is because the client from the last job you did, Ethan Starbright, who just so happens to be a good friend of mine was impressed with how you handled the last job and recommended you for S class."

Natsu's eyes widened at this, and Makarov continued saying "So I have decided to give you a trial I want you Natsu Dragneel to fight against the guilds ace Guildarts Clive."

Natsu starts grinning and says, "I accept the challenge."
