Kor's Log: Operation Guillotine

In the wake of gaining new advanced technologies from our previous endeavor of attempting to open a wormhole into another universe much like the Federation has done, the Empire has gained an advantage through the capture of a warship. Our scientists have spent a great deal of time and effort reverse-engineering the technology of the Jaridian warship and the Klingon High Council is more than pleased with the results. More than pleased that they have given me permission to test our new equipment in battle and I have chosen the perfect idea for such a test.

A strike into the heart of the Romulan Empire itself.

A fleet consisting of my ship and twenty Bird-of-Prey scout vessels will penetrate Romulan space using a combination of cloaking technology and the new transwarp drive we have gained from the Jaridian warship. The Birds-of-Prey were the easiest to modify and upgrade with the new technology while my ship is only the first battlecruiser to receive a heavy overhaul to integrate the new weapons and engine designs. Once we are in Romulan space, the fleet will split groups of four ships, each with an assigned target that is vital to the Romulans.

My ship will have the most vital target of all: Romulus.

A strike at the capital of the Romulan Empire will no doubt send fear and panic throughout the rest of the Romulan Empire, realizing that their power is no longer equal to us. If successful, the Klingon Empire will be able to expand into territories we have contested with the Romulans for many years. I am not arrogant enough to believe that we could hold Romulus itself with just a fleet of twenty ships. This is only a test.

But the kind of tests, a Klingon Warrior enjoys.

The Klingon fleet was still in transwarp upon passing the Romulan boarder.

"Sir, we are entering Romulan space. No sign we have been discovered."

Kor grinned. "Good. Have groups two, three and four break off and proceed to their targets. Continue on course to Romulus."

"Yes sir."

As the ship continued its trek into Romulan space, a single crewman banged his fist against the wall and started to sing.

One by one, the rest of the crew starting to sing as well, eagerly anticipating the coming battle.

"Qoy qeylIs puqloD."

"Qoy puqbe'pu'."

"yoHbogh matlhbogh je SuvwI'" Kor sang with them, pointing at the screen with an eager smile.

"Say'moHchu' may' 'Iw."

"maSuv manong 'ej maHoHchu'."

"nI'be' yInmaj 'ach wovqu'."

"batlh maHeghbej 'ej yo' qIjDaq vavpu'ma' DImuv."

"pa' reH maSuvtaHqu'."

"mamevQo'. maSuvtaH. ma'ov."

This was everything Kor could dreamed of.

A glorious mission.

A loyal crew eager to fight and die with him in glorious battle.

Oh, the tales they would spin.

The songs they would sing.

The statues in the grand hall of heroes.

The fear they would inspire in their enemies.

The Klingon battle group began splitting off as shown on the tactical screen with groups two, three and four heading for planets of great importance in the Romulan Empire.

An energy production facility.

A shipyard.

And their outposts along the Neutral Zone.

It would be quick.

It would be brutal.

It would be…glorious.

Beta Quadrant
Chetzia System
Chetzia III

Chetzia III is a planet in Romulan space close to the Romulan Neutral Zone. The planet had at least two military bases.

Those bases soon came under attack as Klingon Birds-of-Prey decloaked in the upper atmosphere and rained down disruptors and photon torpedoes on both bases before they could even scramble to defend themselves. In a matter of seconds, both bases were destroyed, and the Klingons cloaked their ships, going to transwarp just as Romulan ships picked up the automated distress signal.

Gasko Sector
Gasko System
Gasko Station

In the late 22nd century the region around Gasko was hotly contested by the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Star Empire. The Romulans built a space station there to solidify their claim and maintained a small fleet at the site for the next half-century. The Gasko station, while built to solidify the Empire's claim in this sector, was not high on the list of vital targets but General Kor had chosen this station given that the Romulans had stolen the surrounding space from the Klingon Empire. Thus, when four Klingon Birds-of-Prey decloaked within striking distance of the station, it was because Kor wanted to make a statement.

While the Klingon ships were outnumbered by the Romulan fleet, they had been armed with a very deadly weapon.

The Jaridian Phased Plasma Torpedo.

Due to the phasing nature of the torpedo, they would pass through shields rather easily but due to the fact they were slower than photon torpedoes the Klingons needed to make sure they were close enough that their enemies wouldn't dodge.

And it just so happened, they docloaked right in front of the gathering Romulan defense fleet.

"Fire!" A Klingon commander.

The four Klingon Birds-of-Prey fired their phased plasma torpedoes at the Romulan ships just as they were about to fire. The torpedoes passed through Romulan shields as if they weren't even there and before the crews could even realize what happened, their ships burned into absolute nothingness,

The torpedoes had been effective enough that no wreckage had been left behind.

The Birds-of-Prey turned their weapons on the station, firing their new positron torpedoes and damaging the station greatly in just one hit. Distress signals had been sent out but by the time the closest Romulan ship would arrive the station was long gone.

Brias System
Bria III

The tropical world of Brea III was a pleasure planet for the Romulan Star Empire. High-ranking military officers, senators and nobles like to flock to its warm oceans and build palatial homes in secluded jungle estates. Scientists and archaeologists studied ruins of an ancient civilization scattered across the planet.

That made it all tempting a target for the Klingons.

Following the other two groups in their slash and retreat movements, the Birds-of-Prey decloaked in the upper atmosphere and fired on the Romulan settlements, targeting their bases. They had decloaked under the nose of Romulan patrol ships that immediately detected enemy ships and received distress calls from the surface. They immediately moved to intercept, but the Klingons had no interest in taking or holding the planet, just attacking any targets they could and retreating before the patrol could respond.

"Groups, 2, 3 and 4 are reporting their raids were successful." Kaz reported.

"They cloaked and went to transwarp immediately after attacking, I presume." Kor replied with a knowing smile.

"Per your orders, General."

Kor chuckled. "Good, good. Those Romulans must be scurrying and running all over the place, acting as if their very heads have been chopped clean off. And best of all, with our transwarp engines, even if the Romulans are scrambling their defense, our slash and retreat maneuver combined with our speed and cloaking will keep them off balance."

"Yes sir." Kaz nodded in agreement. "It will be a glorious battle."

"It will almost be no battle at all. Our technologies are giving us a complete unfair advantage over the Romulans." Kor stood up and slowly approached the viewscreen. "What we have here is a route, a humiliation, a massacre."

"Do you really believe a fleet of only twenty ships will be enough to truly take down the Romulans?" Kaz asked.

"Oh no, they will soon catch on to our little scheme and send ship after ship on masse at us, forcing us to either retreat or make one final glorious stand." Kor grinned. "As much as today would be a good day to die, I would see it on my terms, not the Romulans. Our groups will continue their strikes against the remaining targets and then they will return to Klingon space as ordered. And even if the fleet is scrambled to intercept them, when they realize what is happening in the center of their empire they will abandon the outer worlds and come rushing back to their capital."

Kor turned and faced his crew with a devious smile. "Only it will be too late by then."
