DC Super Hero Girls - Kara x Zee Zatara

After defeating Ember at the Renaissance Fair, the team retired to Sweet Justice, had a few rounds of chocolate and all started heading their separate ways.

Kara was about to fly home, but when she saw Zee standing outside of the bakery she stopped in her tracks. All evening she'd been wanting to ask the purple haired girl if she was really alright. She knew she wanted one day to be a princess but it didn't exactly work out and when the one person who thought she was a princess had rejected her with disgust. Sure the dragon wanted to eat her but she didn't have to be so rude.

Slowly walking up to her unsuspecting friend, Kara sighed deeply, she was beginning to feel nervous. "Kara? Did you need something?" Kara laughed weakly, rubbing the back of her head she replied, "Ah no.." Zee raised an eyebrow, "I just wanted to know how you were feeling.." she paused. "Yanno, since you couldn't be all princess-y", she waved her hands around.

Zee was confused and surprised by Kara's actions, her normally rough and wild friend was being kind and sincere. She hesitated to answer, but before any words could surface, Zee's limo pulled up. Her father standing up through the sunroof, "Hi Sweetie!" he waves.

She rolls her eyes and smiles at his excitement to see her, she turns to say bye to Kara but she's gone. She sees her fly off behind Sweet Justice.

Feeling confused and a little pinch in her heart was odd for Zee. She was surprised by her sudden question, but she was happy to share with Kara. Happy that she showed her this small moment of whatever that was.

Kara flew out and onto a random apartment building between her house and Sweet Justice. She was angry with herself, "Dummy!" she yelled. "StupidStupidStupid" she stomped her foot down. "Why'd I say something and just bolt" she face palmed. Grumbling and groaning she sat down on the ledge of the building.

After a few minutes of cringing at herself she got up and began to fly home. She sighed when she entered her room, she took off her pants and flopped into bed. She decided to play games for a while to clear her thoughts, but soon after she fell asleep.

The next morning the clock turned on the radio, jolting Kara awake. She pressed the snooze button, she sat up rubbing her eyes and scanning her room nonchalant. She then realized she hadn't turned her game off, "Fuck!" she cursed, springing out of bed to turn the system off. She then decided to shower, she played her music as she did so. Soon she was in a good mood and ready to go to school.

Upon entering the highschool she was bombarded by all the students, all of them talking about the dragon at the festival. Louis Lane was scanning the area and locked eyes with Kara. Kara immediately fled the scene, hoping to escape to an empty restroom and away from 'Identity Exposer #1'.

She went up stairs and into the bathroom at the far end, which was closest to her first class. After a reassured sigh. The door to the bathroom swung open. Jumping at first. Kara was relieved once when she saw it was just Barbara. "Oh hey Kara!" she smiled enthusiastically, Kara just smiled a little, "Hey Babs, What's shaking?".

Barabara immediately picked up on Kara's vibes. Her natural curiosity – and urge to be her friends' ray of sunshine whenever they need – kicked in and she was already two inches away from Kara's face, looking her directly and deeply into her eyes.

All of these actions were a little too much for Kara to handle as it was still early in the morning. "Kara, I need you to tell me exactly what's wrong right now" she said this as she smushed Kara's face between her hands.

Rolling her eyes, Kara pulled back and away from Barbara, her super strength being the most useful at times like these. "What are you saying?' she brushed off the question. Just as the bell rang, Kara briskly left the restroom.

She instantly felt someone collide into her, she didn't budge at all. She recoiled back slightly when she saw that it was Zee that she bumped into. "Fuck, Kara your like a wall" she said as she rubbed her back.

Kara could only offer her a hand, wordlessly she helped her purple haired friend back onto her feet, "Well- see ya !". She smiled and left, throwing up her horns.

Zee quirked a brow as she watched her blonde friend leave, she was somewhat muddled at the girl's actions.

First she was concerned about her, second she left abruptly, and now third..Kara was now avoiding her. She felt a little sunken, almost feeling left out. Of course they weren't super close or anything, she shrugged.

"Oh! Hey Zee" Barbara said she exited the restroom moment's after Kara. "..Are you okay?" she frowned. Zee shook her head, "Of course! Just thinking about lunch" she flashed Barbara a smile.

Barbara tilted her head slightly, "I haven't had breakfast yet" she frowned. She was too anxious thinking about anything Kara related.

"Oh well that's too bad.. here" Barabafa smiled and pulled out a half eaten Ham sandwich. "I already ate one and then this half" she said gesturing to the empty half of the sandwich.

Zee smiled even more, gracefulling taking the sandwich from Barbara's hand. "Thank y-" the second bell rang. "Shit! We're late!" She swiftly took Barbara's hand and pulled her along to class.

Kara had been distracting herself tremendously, she almost forgot how awkward she'd been once she expressed interest in her feelings. She didn't know why she was making such a fuss, but she also knew that she never really wanted to ask someone about their feelings.

She mulled it over in her head again, "Fuck it" she huffed as she sat by the girls for lunch. They all sat in their usual spots, "What up losers!" Kara grinned as she sat down. Jess rolled her eyes, "Thanks loser number 1" she smiled when Kara gave her a thumbs up.

Barbara excitedly slammed her hands on the table, "Ladies!" after she scanned for their attention, "let's check out the Lex Corp. warehouses" she gleamed. "Huh?!" Kara exclaimed, "Why do we gotta go there?" she folded her arms.

Slouching a little she sighed but she soon regained composure. Barbara then explained very important details about a secret signal that she's been picking up from over there. She planned they all meet after 10 when the operations are at the most hectic before everyone goes home.

After school, Kara walked down the main steps of the school entrance. She sighed a little, not excited about waiting to go on a stealth mission. She grumbled to herself, "I hate stealth.. Why can't we just blow it up and get what we need".

"Because we don't wanna reveal ourselves and get captured by some big villain" Zee sighed. The sudden voice of another person surprised Kara, "Whoa!" she jumped back almost losing balance on the steps. Thankfully Zee caught her hand and pulled her close so she wouldn't fall.

The sudden appearance of those hot magenta eyes cause Kara to freeze, she's never felt so vulnerable. It made her a little angry. Zee also felt like a deer caught in the horrifying headlights of death. Neither moved for a moment, "Thanks" was all Kara could whisper out. She backed away and quickly snuck around a corner and disappeared as Supergirl.

Zee also immediately rounded a corner and portaled herself home as well. Both girls didn't know why it was suddenly so hard to talk to each other. If anything they felt they couldn't be near the other.

Muttering curse words under her breath, Kara flew into space just out of the Earth's atmosphere, she took a deep breath and flew back down to her house. After getting to her room, she brought out her phone to tell the girls she was going to sit this out, she made the excuse that stealth wasn't her thing. She also implied they message or call if they need back up or heavy lifting. Sighing she closed her eyes and listened to music on her phone, letting the events of the day clear themselves from her mind.
