A/N: I DO NOT own the Harry Potter series. That honour belongs to J.K. Rowling. I only own the plot and original characters. Some of the characters will be OOC (Nice Dursleys (Wizard Dudley), Free Sirius, non-Supremacist Malfoys, Lestranges, and most of the death-eater families, Good Voldemort).

June 14 – Over a year before Harry's birth

Prologue

Hogsmeade was sunny and the students of Hogwarts were enjoying the weekend with their friends or with a significant other by their side as they enter or exit the shops. One girl, however, was sitting in the bar at the Three Broomsticks drinking a soda and eating some chocolate, excited she was returning to Australia after spending a year in the UK for business. While Haley loved the country and befriending some students on weekends, she missed the beach house she lived in and waking up to seagulls and crashing waves.

"Back home, it's probably snowing," she smiled, sipping her drink. "I hope mum and dad will take us snowboarding."

As she was finishing her drink and looking around noticing the students who were probably relieved that final exams were over and relishing six weeks of summer holiday. Her face curled into a smile as she remembered her times with her parents and private tutors learning spells and potions, even creating new potions and spells herself. Her parents traveled a lot, and she went with them; so, she never went to a wizarding school in her life, but she never really cared for it.

Her mum had told her about her time at Hogwarts until she dropped out after her OWLs, married her dad, and got her NEWTs through the Australian ministry, and according to Annabeth, it was boring as fuck, the teachers were pompous, and the caretaker was horribly mistreated because he only possessed dormant magic; she hates the word "squib," because it sounds derogatory.

As Haley was asking for another drink, a dark-haired man sat next to her and ordered himself some firewhiskey after sending some girl on her way.

"I think I may be ready to settle down," he said before looking next to him and seeing the slender brunette sitting next to him and scowling. "Haley Sertori, what are you doing here alone?"

"Nice to see you too, Sirius," Haley drawled, rolling her eyes. "You shouldn't say shit you don't mean. You won't be ready to settle down for another ten or twenty years."

"Shut up, Haley. Do your parents know you're here or," he looked her up and down, noticing her pink lace bralette top and black mini skirt with thigh-high boots. "what you're wearing?"

"Of course! They saw me wearing it when I left. They gave me some money and told me to have fun!"

Sirius just stood there, wide-eyed and jaw dropped. If his mother had a thirteen-year-old daughter dressed like his step-cousin was, she'd have tanned her hide before destroying the clothing and making her change into something appropriate. Sometimes, he wished he was born a Sertori instead of a Black.

"Well, I'm going to look around," she said as she dropped the Galleons on the table to pay for her drinks. "Nice to see you, Siri."

"Why Cygnus adopted your aunt Bellatrix, I'll never know," he drawled as she walked out of the Inn.

Haley was walking to Honeydukes when she saw a greasy black-haired man around Sirius' age talking to a blonde man with his hair pinned back in a ponytail and dressed in aristocratic robes.

"Uncle Lucy," she said to herself, stopping in front on her designation. "What are you doing here?"

Haley was curious about what her uncle was talking about and was about to walk to them before thinking better of it and turned to enter Honeydukes when the blonde spotted her and made his way to her with the greasy man following.

"Haley Annabeth Sertori," he drawled, grabbing her shoulders. "Why are you here alone?"

"I was done with lessons, Uncle Lucy," she said, freeing herself from his grasp and reaching into her bag for some galleons. "So, mum told me to come here and enjoy the day."

The blonde raised an eyebrow to the teenager before stroking her cheek, "It's Lucius in company, little girl," he lightly scolded. "And it is not safe for a thirteen-year-old girl to wander the streets alone. Someone can grab you in an instant, you being a Sertori!"

"Well, how about I get a cake here and go to my Potion tutor's house," she laughed, going inside. "I can hang out with her until my parents expect me back."

"Or you could spend the day with Severus," Lucius said, gesturing to the greasy-haired man beside him. "That way, you'll have an escort I approve of, and I have a meeting with your parents."

"Whatever makes you happy, Uncle Lucius," she said, turning to Severus and holding out her hand. "I'm Haley Sertori."

The man shook her hand. "I'm Severus Snape."

"Nice to meet you. Can I call you Sev?"

"I suppose."

After Lucius left the pair to their devices, Haley smiled at the dour man and asked, "What do you want to do?"

Snape looked at the crowd of people who were gawking at her before turning back to her and grabbing her hand, taking her towards Gladrags Wizardwear.

"First things first," he said, heading inside. "We're changing your clothes."

Half an hour later, they left the store with Haley sporting a black, floral skater dress that stopped at her knees with black ankle-high boots and her hair in an updo. After vanishing her previous outfit to another planet, Severus fixed her hair to make her look more mature. He said that she shouldn't dress like a stupid teenager when she isn't one. Then, he apparated them to Diagon Alley just to do it and hoped he wouldn't run into some people he detested.

"So, Sev," Haley asked as they reached the Apothecary. "Who are you trying to avoid back at Hogsmeade?"

His eyes widened at this as they got inside, "How did you know I was avoiding anyone?"

"You paid the cashier in a hurry and rushed us out of there after sending my old clothes to outer space and magically doing my hair," she rolled her eyes. "So, you must've seen someone you didn't want to waste your time with."

His jaw slacked and eyebrows rose at the barely pubescent girl before replying, "Very adequate, Haley. Not everyone can read me that well."

"My parents taught me to read people when I was a kid. They said it helps you differ the honest from the liars or friends and enemies."

Severus picked out some ingredients for a potion he was working on before going to the counter to pay. "That's true, Haley. And to further answer your question, I saw James Potter and his partner-in-crime, Sirius Black."

"James Potter and Sirius Black?"

"You're not fond of them, either?" He asked after gathering the bought items and exiting the store.

"Sirius is my arsehole of a step-cousin whom the rest of my family, including Andromeda and her husband, Ted, don't mind if I break "lady customs" to kick his arse whenever he does or says something stupid. And James is a jerk and arsehole of my potions tutor's husband. She doesn't mind me kicking his arse or transfiguring him into a ruler because he's fucking Sirius and a barmaid."

"Potter's fucking Black and a barmaid?!"

Haley rolled her eyes at that. "She said the reason she married him was to save her childhood friend from getting further tortured by him and his merry men. Marauders, my arse. But she tolerates James' cheating just to get him out of the house."

Severus raised an eyebrow to this, "Lily married that brat… to save me?"

"They didn't by any chance call you Snivellous, did they?"

Hearing her question caused his blood to boil and clenched his teeth, "They did."

"Yeah, James and Lily came over for dinner a week back," Haley continued. "He told us how he used to play 'harmless pranks' on some guy named Snivellous because he was in Slytherin. Let's just say my parents were not too happy hearing that because my mum was a Slytherin before she left Hogwarts. Lily stepped on his foot, and I transfigured him into a toad for 48 hours."

Severus raised an eyebrow at this before laughing his arse off. "I would've paid to see that!"

"Oh, please! I laughed harder when Lily told me she punched him in the face after my spell wore off!"

Severus laughed even harder at this that he fell to the floor, startling onlookers who were passing by. He then stopped laughing and scowled at the passers-by, who quickly went on their way. Haley, who helped him up laughed at this, "I didn't know that you were that scary!"

"People know of my reputation of being dark, Haley. Hence why they tend to stay away from me."

"Well," she took his hand, intertwining it with hers. "I'm not afraid of the dark, Sev, and I was taught both in the light and dark arts and magic by my parents."

"And what are your thoughts on dark magic, little girl?"

"There's only magic," she said as they were walking to Flourish and Blotts. "Light and dark can't exist without the other. 'Light' can kill and 'dark' can heal. Dark doesn't mean evil, and light doesn't always mean good."

The dour man examined her for a minute before nodding, "I'm impressed, Haley. People tend to associate dark with evil and light with good."

"I was raised to keep an open mind, Sevvy," Haley replied, grabbing his hand and squeezing her necklace.

Just then, they felt a pull in their stomachs and were instantly transported outside a rustic cottage overlooking the sea.

Shaking out of his stupor, Severus looked around to see where he was before turning to Haley. "Where are we?"

"We're at my family cottage on Sertori Island. A place to get away from the madness."

His muscles tightened, "What will your father say to you bringing a man here without his knowledge? I do not fancy being hexed!"

"He'll say 'were you careful, love?' He's laxer than most of the 'pureblood' fathers who believe in locking up their daughters before they're married."

"I feel so much better," he drawled as they went inside. "So, what made you bring us here?"

"I saw James and Sirius in the book shop and thought we'd bow out before there was a battle between three of you."

Going inside, Severus' jaw dropped upon seeing the interior. The walls were ocean blue plastered with green and silver sparkles, while the furniture was brightly coloured and looked pretty comfortable. This looks nothing like the pureblood houses he visited.

"Mum decorated it herself," Haley said, noticing Severus' admiration of the interior. "She made it in case she or myself needed to get away from the drama."

"Drama?"

Sitting on the green fuzzy couch, the brunette replied, "Death eater meetings, avoiding Aunt Trixie and Cissy, and not wanting dad to break Uncle Lucy's neck for checking out mum."

"Trixie, as in Bellatrix Lestrange?"

"The one and the same."

"I can't say I blame your father," he said, sitting across from her. "Lucius always had a wandering eye."

"You can say that again."

Turning around, they saw the auburn-haired girl dressed in a green jumper and blue jeans entering the cottage. Her emerald eyes locked on Severus' as she marched towards him, hands on her hips. He stood quickly and locked his dark eyes with her greens. Haley's eyes swayed back and forth between them as they stared at each other for another minute, her insides jumping from what was about to happen next.

Luckily, she took a deep breath as they smiled and hugged before pulling apart and sitting across from each other with Severus sitting next to Haley.

"So, what brings you here, Lily?" Sev asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, I was dropping off my report with Lucius and he told me you were babysitting Haley. James has an important meeting with Sirius at home, and I'm not meeting Tuney until later this afternoon. So, here I am."

"Does this meeting have anything to do with Black sticking his cock up the other's arse?"

Lily rolled her eyes at that, "Oh please, Sevvy! One, they alternate. Two, Sirius is on our side, not the Order of the Chickens. Three, I'm trying to reason with James that the Dark Lord isn't a muggle or muggleborn hater and that he knows that muggleborns are vital to our world."

"That's a complete waste of time, Lily. His head is too far up Dumbledore's arse to keep an open mind."

"That's what Tuney and Vernon said," she slumped in her seat.

"So, your sister stopped being jealous of you being a witch."

Lily nodded at this, "She now knows that being jealous doesn't change the fact that we're family, and that I've always been kind to her despite being a witch. She and Vernon already have claims to babysit our children if we have them."

"Yeah, if that happens!" Haley added, returning with a tray of tea and scones. "From what I've heard from Sirius' conversation with Lupus, he's not too worried about it now."

Severus raised an eyebrow and turned to Lily, "Lupus," he mouthed.

"She means Lupin, Severus," Lily laughed. "Of course, I had to stop her from calling him that to his face."

This caused the dour man to laugh again.

The three spent a few more hours talking before Lily had to meet her sister and the duo was left to their own devices. Later that night, Haley floo called her parents to see what was going on.

A brunette's face appeared in the flames immediately and smiled. "Hi, Haley. Having fun with Severus?"

"Yeah," Haley laughed. "I'm guessing Uncle Lucy told you he arranged a babysitter for me. Albeit a cool one, but a babysitter, nonetheless."

"Yeah, he told me. Seems to think me giving you this much freedom is too dangerous, but I told him you were not going to be cooped up at home and die of boredom like most of these families."

"So, what's going on?"

Her mum rolled her eyes, "Will you be alright on your own, baby girl? This meeting may be an overnighter and your aunt is in a foul mood. Lucius wants Severus to stay with you and the Dark Lord has no objection!"

Severus appeared in the woman's view, "Nor do I, Lady Sertori," he replied. "Haley will be safe with me, I can promise you that."

"I have no doubts, Severus," she laughed. "and call me Annabeth. Got to go. Have fun! Love you!"

"Love you, too, Mum!" Haley replied as the flames returned to normal.

Haley then turned to Sev, "So what do you want to do now?"

Staying silent for a minute, Severus' eyes darkened as he looked at the thirteen-year-old with newfound interest. The way the dress snugged her body caused his breath to hitch, and her long legs made him hard in the southern region. Walking over, the man cupped her face and she leaned into his touch, relaxing as he brushed his thumb over her cheek.

Haley then moved her hands to the buttons of his shirt and unclasped them from the bottom up before removing it from his body. Her eyes admiring how different he looked in just the white blouse and black tie. Of course, she thought him handsome with the black priest-like coat on, but without it… Damn! He was hot!

Eyes widened at Haley's brazen act, Snape pulled her to eye level by her chin and forced her lips to clash with his, with Haley eagerly returning the kiss and wrapping his arms around him while allowing him to slither his other hand up her dress.

Coming up for air, the dour man locked eyes with the thirteen-year-old, whose hazel eyes were now darkened. "Do you know what's going on, little girl?" he panted slowly lifting up her dress.

Nodding in response, she started unbuttoning his blouse and trembled, "Go easy on me, please?"

His eyes immediately softened upon her plea before kissing her again, but with tenderness and freeing her from her dress before carrying her upstairs to use a bed.

A/N: I am all for a good sex scene, but I think I'll end it here since Snape is nineteen and Haley, thirteen. However, if anyone wants to know, Snape's a 1000 out of ten in bed. I'm not putting a year on this because the time is in our time range and I'm not sure what year each year will be. Also, in this story, Bellatrix was adopted by the Blacks as a child and is Annabeth's bio sister.
