AUTHOR'S NOTE

So here I am with another chapter. I realize that I haven't let you all know the big change that has happened to me in the last year. I had my left leg amputated. That's some of the reason my updates have been so sporadic. Things are finally starting to go better so hopefully I will be motivated to update on a more regular basis, fingers crossed. Anyway I will leave you to the next chapter, read on and leave me some love at the end:)

SPOV

Alcide and Pam? They are together? And getting married? And having a baby? If I didn't feel nauseous before, I definitely do now.

I backed up into the living room and sat down on the sofa. I dropped my head into my hands trying to process everything that I'd just learned. I was trying to take some deep breaths when Pam was there kneeling in front of me. She took my hands and pulled them away from my face. "Mama, please don't be angry with me or Alcide. You know I've loved Alcide for a long time and he loves me too and he proposed before I told him about the baby, so he's not marrying me out of duty."

"I love her Sook, I've loved her for a long time. I want to spend the rest of my life with her and our baby."

I glanced up at Alcide, then turned my focus onto my eldest daughter. "Are you truly happy baby girl?"

"I am. I have never been so happy before."

I could see the sincerity in her eyes as well as the joy there. "Then I'm happy for you too." I decided I might as well share my news with my daughter and best friend too. "I hope you don't mind not being the only one pregnant right now."

Pam sat up even straighter and her smile grew even bigger. "You're having a baby too?" I nodded my head. "I thought you were done after having Kat?"

"I thought so at the time, but I wanted to keep the option open. I'd been thinking about it a lot more lately, but I thought I'd be able to talk to your Daddy about it first. This wasn't planned, but a happy surprise none the less."

"So does this mean that Daddy is in a good mood right now?"

"For the most part. Your arrival was a bit of an interruption though."

"Jesus Sook, don't you two ever take a day off?"

"Have you seen my husband? He is sexy as hell and I can't keep my hands off of him."

"Mom! Can we not talk about Daddy like that please?"

"Sorry Sweetie."

"Sookie, who's here?" Eric called down from upstairs, but at least he didn't sound put out by our being interrupted.

"Pam and Alcide came over for a visit."

"I'll be right down."

I could feel Pam tense and I was quick to rub her shoulders to help calm her down. "Is this really what you want Pammy?"

"This is what I've always wanted. The baby wasn't planned, but it is still wanted and loved."

I looked over at Alcide, seeing the tension radiating off of him, then looked back at Pam. "As long as you are happy, I am on your side." She smiled up at me and threw her arms around me. "I can't say the same for your father, but no matter what, I'm with you."

"Thank you Mama. I love you."

"I love you too baby girl."

ERIC POV

I dressed quickly in shorts and a t-shirt. I was anxious to see our daughter and my best friend. They haven't been around much the past few months and with Pam graduating college in a few weeks, the visits will probably become even less frequent.

It's hard for me to believe that my eldest child is getting ready to graduate college and start out her adult life. Before long she would be getting married and having babies of her own, but that was years away. Pam is a smart girl and would never jump into anything before she was ready.

I made my way downstairs and saw Pam hugging Sookie, so I went over to Alcide to shake hands. "How you doing man?" He seemed tense as he shook my hand. Something was definitely up with him.

"I'm good man. Can I talk to you in the kitchen for a few minutes?" He sounded so serious. I hope everything is alright.

Before I could answer, Sookie spoke up. "Alcide, are you sure?" I looked over and Sookie looked worried and Pam looked terrified. What the hell was going on around here today?

"It's fine Sookie."

"If you are sure."

"I'm positive."

I was so confused as I followed Alcide into the kitchen. "Are you alright Alcide?"

"Yeah Eric, I'm fine. I actually have some news to tell you."

"Oh yeah? We have some news too. Sookie's pregnant. Can you believe it?"

"The way that you two go at it, it's not surprising." He paused and took a deep breath before speaking again. "I'm getting married."

I plopped down at the kitchen table with my mouth hanging open. "Holy shit Alcide, I didn't even know that you were seeing anybody."

"Yeah, we have been together for a few months, but we have known each other for years. Coincidentally we are also having a baby."

A huge smile spread across my face at this news. "Alcide, congratulations brother, this is amazing. It's about time that you settled down." I stood up and pulled him in for a hug. "I'm so happy for you. You'll need to bring her over to introduce her to the family." He tensed at my words and put some distance between us.

"You've already met her actually."

"Is it one of the girls from the diner?" Most of the girls that worked there had been with Sookie since the diner had been a brothel, but I wasn't one to judge anyone else since that was where Sookie and I met.

"No, it's not anyone from the diner. She's actually quite a bit younger than I am, but I love her very much. And this baby was unexpected, but not unwanted."

"Are you trying to convince me or yourself of that?"

"You."

"Why?"

"Because I'm marrying Pam."

ALCIDE POV

The color drained from Eric's face as he took in what I said. I knew this wasn't going to go over well. "Tell me that this is a joke."

"This isn't a joke Eric. Pam and I love each other, we are getting married and are going to have a baby."

I kept my defenses up, but he swung at me a lot faster than I expected. He clipped my jaw before I could completely block him. "You son of a bitch. How dare you put your hands on my baby girl?"

"She hasn't been a baby for a long time Eric. She's a woman now and she can make her own decisions and she's decided she wants me."

"I don't accept that." He tried to hit me again, but I managed to grab his wrists to stop him. "She is too good for you, you piece of shit!"

"Yes she is too good for me, but I love her. I'll treat her like a queen and give her everything and anything that she could ever want."

"I won't allow this."

"She's a grown woman Eric, she can do what she wants."

"I'll never give my blessing. Pam would never do anything without my approval."

"Eric, please don't do this."

"You used to babysit her for God's sake."

"I know that. I tried to fight it, but I just couldn't. The heart wants what the heart wants."

"You're not thinking with your heart, you're thinking with your dick."

"Don't go there man."

"Don't go where?"

I didn't want to do this, but he was leaving me no choice. "Either you accept my relationship with Pam, or I'll be forced to tell her how you and Sookie really got together."

He froze as he absorbed what I said, "You wouldn't dare."

"I'll do what I have to do for the woman that I love."

"She doesn't need to know about that. It was a long time ago."

"You hurt Sookie. You did the right thing eventually, but not before you almost broke her completely. You didn't see her when you left her, but I did. I won't let you do the same thing to Pam."

"Daddy?"

PAM POV

I'd been pacing back and forth since Alcide took Daddy into the kitchen. I felt like I was going to throw up, but I didnt' know if it was nerves or the baby making me feel this way.

I rested my hands on my stomach and felt the overwhelming urge to cry. This should be a happy moment, Mom and I are pregnant together, not something I ever expected to happen, but I was excited about none the less. I wouldn't have to go through this experience alone. Now I didn't know what was going to happen.

I knew my father and the love of my life were in the other room fighting and it's tearing me apart. "Pam, Sweetie, can you sit down before you ware a hole in the floor."

"I can't sit down Mom. God only knows what is going on in there right now."

"Your father is just going to be overprotective of you, but I know that he will get over it."

"Why does he have to get over it in the first place? Why can't he just be happy for us?"

"He will once he gets over the initial shock."

I wanted to believe that, but I had a bad feeling that something terrible was going to happen. When I heard a crash come from the kitchen, I couldn't stay out her any longer. "Pam, don't go in there." Mom tried to stop me, but I needed to know what was happening.

I entered the kitchen without them noticing and the words I heard made me feel dizzy and light headed. Daddy had hurt Mama? How is that even possible? They'd been together for so long and had never had more than a minor disagreement that I could remember. They'd always been so happy and in love. This really couldn't be true. "Daddy?"

They both stopped and looked over at me. Daddy looked pale and Alcide looked resigned. "Pam, you shouldn't be in here."

"Yes I should. You are fighting with the man that I love and I just heard him say that you hurt Mom. How did you hurt her? You love her."

Mama came up behind me and tried to pull me from the room, but I wasn't having it. "Come on Pammy, let's leave them to this."

"No, I want to know what the fuck is going on here. How did Daddy hurt you?"

"Pamela, enough!"

Only Daddy ever called me that and it usually meant that I was in trouble and I would back down, but not today. "No Dad, I am not a little girl anymore. I am a grown woman who is getting married and having a baby. I won't be treated like a little girl anymore."

"Then stop acting like one."

"Eric, stop this right now."

"No Sookie, our past is none of her business."

"Yes it is. You are my family, I deserve to know the truth."

I looked up at my father and I saw a look on his face that I didn't like. "No." He started to walk out the door, but stopped before he walked all the way out. "If you do this, you are no longer my daughter."

"Eric!"

"Northman, you don't know what you are saying."

"I do. I do not approve of this and I will never approve of this and that is all there is to it." He walked out of the room and I couldn't take it anymore. I dropped to my knees with sobs rocking through my body. This couldn't be happening. This day had started out so well and now it had completely gone to shit.

I felt Alcide try to help me up, but I couldn't manage that right now. He swept me up into his arms and I burrowed my face into his neck as the tears kept falling. "I'm taking her home now."

"I'm going to try to talk to him."

"Good luck with that." I wanted to say something, but I just couldn't. I was heartbroken right now and I didn't know if I'd ever be able to get over this.
