Chapter 11- Tory (2) Part 1
Kindness... Empathy... Honesty...
Nobody is truly 100% good to the core, everyone is selfish and egocentric to some degree.
People who pretend to always be kind, helpful and seem to always smile... Those people have something to hide!
Nobody is truly 100% good to the core...
The bell of the door to the coffee shop rang, interrupting Toji's thoughts. His eyes wavered over and stopped on the woman with black long hair, that entered the cafe for her daily cup to go.
The ever present gentle smile, was on her lips and her eyes looked as usual warmly at everything and everyone.
"Oh, good morning, mister Fushiguro!" She called out towards him, when she spotten the man at his usual spot, drinking his black coffee.
He lifted his hand up and waved at her.
"Morning, Valory"
Nobody is truly 100% good to the core...
So what are you? What do you hide?
"The usual miss? You look as beautiful as everyday" The owner of the shop greeted her and Valory winked it embarrassed away. "How could I ever accept such compliment from a gorgeous madam such as you?"
The owner of the shop laughed and prepared Valory's coffee. "As sweet as always" she said and handed her the finished coffee "Today it's on the house, now go off my child" she winked at the younger woman, who smiled back and bowed thankfully.
Toji's eyes were looking over his almost finished cup of coffee, towards the conversation between the shop owner and Valory.
The black haired woman had caught his interest a few weeks back, during a job he had around the corner of this cafe.
It's wasn't her beauty, or anything physical that attracted him, but the fact that she was ready to sacrifice her life for a child she didn't know.
He was only passing by and saw her jump in front of a bus, to push a kid away, he though was hers, to safe it's life. He interacted on instinct and pulled the woman and child out of the danger, before finding out it wasn't her kid.
He questioned her why she would throw her life shamelessly away, for a strangers son she never saw before. She replied with a smile, saying that she could never turn a blind eye to anyone in need.
That she'd rather die saving someone, than live knowing she could have, but chose not to.
Nobody is truly 100% good to the core...
Toji came from a life where kindness was a weakness and such a mindset was impossible for him to comprehend.
He couldn't understand her, so he wanted to crack behind her kindness and see what she truly was hiding. He couldn't accept that anyone was this selfless.
His eyes watched her turn around and walk to the entrance, not before waving him a goodbye. He replied it and watched her leave, ringing the doorbell, vanishing through the door.
Toji got up from his chair, grabbed his jacket and left thought the same door, scanning the street, before discovering her, just before she turned around a corner.
Quickly he walked over the street and started to follow Valory with some distance though Tokyo.
Down a few alley's, to the metro, a couple stops and some more streets. Then suddenly Valory stopped and Toji's eyes feel on the three men who called her out.
"Oh look, a pretty little girl all alone here... Are you lost sweetheart? Should we bring you home?"
He watched her turned the left and walk away quickly, but the three men jumped up and followed her, calling her out more, trying to get her attention.
Toji kept his eyes on the men and followed them in the shadows, he had been hiding in all the time.
He watched them get closer to her and then grouping around Valory. One grabbed her arm and the other patted her head.
"Oh you truly are a pretty girl" the one patting her head spoke.
"Get your hands off me!" Valory shouted and tried to free herself, but it was futile, it only pushed the third guy to grab her other free arm.
"You have three seconds to leave her alone" Toji spoke and stepped out of the shadows, all eyes snapping to him.
"Where the fuck did that guy come from? Hah, he's alone! Get lost looser, we just having a little fun here" one of the guys replied.
A devilish grin ran over Toji's lips as he started counting.
"3...2...1..."
Not even a second later, all three guys groaned in pain and were sent of flying somewhere, being beaten to a pulp by Toji.
His moves and body were too fast to keep track of, the blood flew through the air, just as the three guys bodies, before all of them laid on the ground unconscious in less that 10seconds.
"M-Mister Fushiguro?" Valory muttered, her eyes widened in shock and her body frozen.
What just happened? Where did he come from? How did he- do that?
Toji's eyes wavered over to Valory and he sighed deeply.
"Why do you get yourself into so much trouble? It's the second time now"
"But how?" He mumbled and her eyes ran over the beat up bodies.
"How did you know, how did you- do this? It...it doesn't make sense" she spoke and Toji chuckled and ran his hand though his hair.
"I'm a pretty strong fighter, one of the best that is, barely anyone is even a match to me" his voice was proud and slightly arrogant.
"So what do you do? Do you wrestle or do some martial arts?"
"Wrestling?" Toji laughed loudly. "I am a-" he held in for a moment and looked at the woman's face "- a fighter. Its some type of contract fighting, I get paid for jobs"
He decided to not tell her the truth, as it may repel her, if she truly was as good of a human she pretended to be.
"That's... That explains a lot... But still, how did you know I was here?" She spoke and Toji scuffed through his hair again, he didn't know what to tell her. He definitely couldn't admit to following her around, that wasn't particularly a normal thing to do.
"I was around and saw you passing by, I wondered what you were doing alone and then saw the guys" he lied and hoped she bought it.
"Hm... So twice you accidentally appeared to be around when I got into trouble?"
"Pretty much" He stood by his lie and she sighed.
"Alright... I'm sorry if I sounded so suspicious, but I'm a woman after all and it does seem weird" Valory explained and looked back at the guys in the floor still knocked out. "I mean- why I should be careful is literally laying there"
"Did I judge you? It's good you are, men are disgusting rats"
"Some... Not all. Now, thank you for having saved me... again. But I have to go, I'm already running late. Can I repay you with a coffee tomorrow?" Valory spoke.
"Where are you going?" He asked, looking around the sketchy alley they were in.
"I'm... Visiting someone that lives around"
"This area isn't safe, as you probably noticed. Why are you going alone?" He pushes the subject, seeing her already running into the next disaster.
"Because... Because I do, now why do you care?" She suddenly snapped at him. Toji raised his eyebrow and a slight grin ran over his lips.
Oh... Is that what you are hiding then?
A moment he thought well before he spoke again, making sure his words would get him closer to find out what she had hidden behind that kind persona.
"Listen, I don't care what you are doing, I don't like seeing a young woman get herself into dangerous situations. Now, what about I walk with you to wherever you go and then back, until we reach a populated area again?" He spoke and sighed.
"You literally just got jumped by three guys, you can't really tell me that you'll be fine"
He could watch her thoughts fight and his anticipation grew towards whatever it was that she was hiding.
"Alright, but I need you to never speak to a soul about what you might see" she said and seriously looked at him.
A grin ran over his lips and he lifted his hands up "I swear I'll take it to my grave"
Here we go, now show me, prove me that I am right.
Nobody is truly 100% good to the core...
