Chapter 2: Sofia Andrea Casey

The Hotel, Chicago – To say that Matt was excited to finally meet his daughter was an understatement, as he could barely contain his excitement over the fact that he was finally a father. Sure, he was a father to Ben and Griffin after he took them in; but, the little girl he was about to meet was his flesh and blood. She was a part of him, which was something he'd never get to experience. And it wasn't lost on him just who gave him the chance to be a father. "Gabby, before we go into our room…" Taking a breath, Matt stopped and turned to look at his fiancé. "You have to know that I'm sorry for what I said all those years ago." Turning to face Matt, Gabby agreed as she knew that was the truth. She knew that he was sorry, especially since they have Sofia now. "Matt, I know that. Never doubt that I already know that. I know that you're sorry for everything. You don't have to say it, because this is a fresh start for us…with Sofia."

Matt smiled at the thought of meeting Sofia, his little girl. "I love the middle name you chose, it's perfect. And I promise, the boys are going to be the best big brothers to her you can ever imagine." Gabby smiled, agreeing with Matt. "How are the hormones?" Matt groaned as Gabby asked him that question. "Griffin's been dating someone for six months now." Gabby looked at Matt. "Oh no. Are they already…" Matt laughed. "I may not be his biological father, but I can see some of me in him." Gabby looked at Matt when he said that. "Excuse me?" Matt just looked at his fiancé. "May I remind you that I slept with you, before I even asked you to be my girlfriend?" Gabby laughed. "God, I still can't believe we didn't get pregnant from THAT! I mean, that was hot sex." Matt smirked. "Not as hot as the sex we had after we got engaged." Gabby laughed, as that was really hot sex. "Oh, now that was fun." Matt agreed.

After which, he smiled as he walked up to the hotel suite with Gabby, while starting to get nervous; something she could tell as his hand was a bit sweaty. "Hey, are you nervous about something?" Matt sighed. "Well, I am meeting my daughter for the first time." Turning to face Matt as he said that, Gabby stepped close to the man of her dreams. "Hey, take a breath, look into my eyes and listen to me." Matt agreed with Gabby as he got close to her and looked down into her eyes, while also wrapping his arms around her waist. "Matt, she's going to love you the minute you lay your hands on her. You're her father. You're her daddy or papa. Whatever you want to use as your name." Matt smiled. "I already let the boys call me dad, so I like daddy for her." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling. "Well then, daddy…she's going to love you because she's part you. She's going to want to snuggle up to you, just like I want to."

Matt smiled as Gabby said that, only to get close to her as they both stood in front of the door; reaching out for her hand, he smirked as he leaned in and kissed the woman he loves softly. Meanwhile, Gabby leaned back against the door, only for it to be opened. "I thought I…" That's when Camila caught her daughter. "Oh, sorry." Turning her head, Gabby looked at her mother. "Seriously, mom?" Camila laughed. "Sorry." Matt then looked at Camila, smiling as he went to hug her. "How are you Camila?" Wrapping her arms around Matt, Camila smiled. "Good. Just promise me you don't break my daughter's heart this time." Gabby then looked at her mom. "Mom. I broke his heart, remember?" Matt laughed as he looked at Gabby. "Listen, how about you talk to your mom for a minute? I love you, but there's someone in there that I need to meet." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling. "Go ahead, fiancé." Matt smirked.

After all, he loves the sound of that; so, he moved his hand to the back of her head and smirked as he kissed her softly. "I love you." Gabby agreed with her fiancé, smiling as both she and her mom let him walk in so that he can meet Sofia. After which, Camila looked at her daughter as she heard what he called her. "Fiancé? He just broke up with his ex!" Gabby smiled. "Mom. It's fine. We have a kid together, we're in love. And honestly, I don't care. I'm just glad he's away from her. I told him…you stay with her, you don't get to know your daughter. Now, listen…you remember how I told you I'm moving?" Camila agreed. "When?" Gabby sighed. "Tomorrow, or the day after to Portland, Oregon." Camila just looked at her daughter. "Ok. Uhm…I'll find a place there." Gabby laughed, as she had a feeling her mom was going to say that. "How did I know you were going to say that?" Gabby said, prior to going to hug her.

After which, she smiled as she whispered in her ear. "Mom, it's Matt. He made a mistake, but he fixed it. You can trust him, because I trust him. Plus, remember that we have Antonio. If he steps out of line, I'll call him, and he'll be on the next flight to Portland to set him straight." Camila laughed, as she knew that was precisely what her son would do for his sister. "Oh, you're right about that. And your father. Speaking of which, he stopped by for a few minutes with the stuff you needed for Sofia. It's on the table in there. The extra PJs to replace the ones you forgot." Gabby smiled. "Thanks for being civil with him." Camila agreed. "Gabby, parents do anything and everything for their daughters and granddaughters. You never need to worry about us not getting along for Sofia's sake. Now, you call me when you're settled in Portland, as I want to move there after you." Gabby agreed and smiled. "I will." Camila smiled and agreed.

After which, she hugged her daughter once more; only to turn around and speak to Matt. "Congratulations on the engagement Matt, treat her right or I send Antonio to give you a talking to!" Camila said, as she turned around and walked away to give the new parents some time alone; while Matt gulped as he knew that she wasn't kidding. "She isn't kidding, is she?" Closing the door behind herself, Gabby smiled as she walked in and looked at Sofia as Matt held her in his arms. "No, she's not. But, we're not thinking about that right now. I'm taking a minute to admire my future husband holding our daughter." Smiling, Matt turned his head and looked at Sofia prior to pressing his lips to her forehead. "She's beautiful, just like her mother." Gabby blushed as she made her way over to Matt, more than ready to cuddle up to her man. "Listen, I want to hold you in bed. So…" Matt laughed, as he knew that.

Though, he wouldn't mind getting some help in getting undressed. "How about I put Sofia back in her crib? Then, you can help me get this suit off me." Gabby smirked. "Just like I would've done on our wedding night." Matt smirked as he laid Sofia back down in her crib, only to make his way over to Gabby and smirk as he wrapped his arms around her and tugged her body against his chest. Meanwhile, Gabby wrapped her arms around his back and smiled as she leaned up and kissed the man she loves softly. "I love you, and I am so glad that you're back in my arms. Sorry about not telling you about Sofia sooner." Matt shook his head, as he was okay with how things turned out. "Hey. We have each other and Sofia. We're together as a family, and that's all that matters at the end of the day, I promise." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as she was glad that was how he felt…especially about them holding each other.

And that's why she went to undo his jacket: so that she could take it off and get him in bed, which was precisely what Matt wanted her to do. So, he decided to help her so that it was done sooner. And boy did Gabby love the feeling under her hands…the feeling of his toned body under her hands as they held each other close. "You've been working out." Letting his blazer fall onto the ground, Matt smirked and agreed as he moved his hands to her arms, only to lean in and kiss his girlfriend softly. "I love you, and I'm sorry." Gabby shook her head. "No sorry. I'm okay Matt, because you made the right choice." Matt agreed with Gabby as he turned her around in his arms, prior to grabbing the zipper on her dress and going to undo it. After which, he smiled as he let it fall onto the ground. "Damn." Turning around, Gabby smirked as she knew that Matt liked what he was looking at. "All yours again, baby."

Getting close to Gabby, Matt agreed as he placed his hands on her hips and brought her body against his chest. After which, he bent down and smiled as he kissed the woman he loves softly. Meanwhile, Gabby grabbed his shirt and started to undo it since she didn't want to waste time. She wanted to be in bed with Matt, as she's missed him and wants to just restart their life. "Matt, promise me that this time is forever?" Matt agreed with Gabby, as he doesn't plan on losing her again. "I promise, this is forever this time." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as he kissed her once more; only to feel him move his lips to her neck in order to make her moan. And damn, did Matt love the feeling of her skin under his lips. Add in the fact that she's moaning for him, and that just makes it even better. "God, I've missed you Gabby." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she's missed him too. So much so, she pushed his shirt onto the ground.

After which, she grabbed his belt and smirked as she leaned in and kissed him softly; while Matt moved his hands to her butt and took things nice and slow with the woman of his dreams. That was, until Gabby got his belt and pants off, which then led to him kicking them off for her so that they were on the ground. And damn, was Matt glad that they were on the ground as it meant that he could now pick his girlfriend up in his arms and carry her to bed. And that's precisely what he did. He picked Gabby up in his arms and carried her to bed, only to lay her down and smirk as he opened the covers and leaned over her. "God, I've missed you." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she's missed him too. "I've missed you too. Now, how about you clean up our clothes, then you can come join me in bed." Matt smirked, as that's precisely what he plans on doing. Cleaning up their clothes and joining her in their bed.

After all, he doesn't want to waste any time. Time which could instead be spent in bed with Gabby…and Sofia.

It was just him and his girls now, all cuddled up to one another in the hotel bed. And Matt had to say, he was glad that he asked Gabby if Sofia could join them in bed, regardless of the fact that he wanted to have her in bed. Yes, that was what he'd much rather be doing right now; however, not as much as this. He wants to spend a bit of time with both of his girls, before he and Gabby make love to each other. "Matt, can I ask you a question?" Turning his head, Matt smiled as he looked down into Gabby's eyes and wrapped his arm around her back. "Always, baby." Gabby sighed. "Are you mad that I didn't tell you about Sofia?" Running his hand up and down Gabby's back, Matt shook his head as he wasn't mad. In fact, he understood why she didn't tell him. She didn't tell him because she thought he wouldn't want to have a baby with her. "I understand why Gabby, but no more. I want you to tell me in the future."

Placing her hand on Matt's chest, Gabby agreed with him as she laid her head down; only to have Matt press his lips to her forehead as he wrapped his arm around her back. "You know, we probably could've just asked Boden to marry us there on the spot." Gabby laughed. "I was not getting married when there was a banner saying Matt & Sylvie hanging from the ceiling." Matt agreed, as that made sense. "Yeah, that makes sense now." He said, while pressing his lips to her forehead. That was, until he heard Sofia cry a bit. "Hey, it's okay sweetheart. It's daddy." Gabby sighed. "That's not just any cry, it's a tired cry. I think we interrupted her nap a bit too much. She's really picky and likes to sleep in her crib. I mean, not that she might not like sleeping on your chest but…" Matt then understood. "Just, not right now." Sighing, Gabby looked up at Matt. "Matt, I…" Matt shook his head. "Let me set her down, okay?"

Gabby agreed, as she knew that he needed to do that before they spoke; so, she let him go lay Sofia down in her crib. Though, she had to admit…she liked the view of him getting up in those tight boxers of his. "Damn, I missed the sight of you walking around in tight boxers." Snickering as he made his way over to Sofia's crib, Matt smiled as he proceeded to lay his daughter down in her crib. "That's the crib that comes home with us, just to let you know. I wanted to bring one for us to have." Turning his head, Matt smiled. "Good. By the way, I promise that we're going to use my time off to set you and Sofia up at home. Our new home in Portland. You okay with living there?" Gabby agreed. "However, I do want to talk about something. Listen, I know that Sylvie was probably going to work but…" Matt looked at Gabby when she said that. "You aren't sure." Gabby looked at Matt. "Come lay down again?" Matt agreed.

After all, he could tell that Gabby needed to talk to him about something important. And that's precisely why he went to join her in bed once more: so that he could hold her, allowing her to let her guard down as they spoke to each other. And Matt had to say, he was very happy that the two of them were going to cuddle up to each other. "You know, I think it's better that the two of us just hold each other for a bit. Sofia's asleep and I want to keep her asleep. We need to talk, anyways." Gabby agreed with Matt, well aware that was the case. After which, she watched as he moved close to her and just smirked as she felt Matt tug her body against his; while she placed her hands on his toned chest and smiled as they both held each other in the comfort of their hotel bed. But before they spoke to each other, Matt tugged the covers up on top of the both of them and just smiled as he kissed Gabby softly. "I love you."

Gabby agreed with Matt, as she loves him too. "Even after all the time we've spent apart?" Matt agreed, as he'll always love her; if anything, he loves her even more now that they have Sofia. "If anything, I love you even more now that you've made my dream come true. You've made me a father, which means the world to me Gabby. You risked your life to give us a child, which was my worst fear. And now, we're a family. A family of five." Gabby agreed with Matt as she wrapped her arms around his back, only to slip her legs in between his. "Are the boys independent? Or do they rely on you a lot?" Matt smiled as he leaned in and kissed Gabby softly. "They're more independent now. I've actually been coming back and forth to Chicago for the past year. I did a task force with the Department of Homeland Security." Gabby just shook her head. "Oh god, I knew I saw your name on that roster." Matt was confused.

After all, he didn't get what she was talking about. "What do you mean?" Gabby smiled. "I was the liaison in Puerto Rico. They wanted someone who knew people in Chicago and San Juan. I heard you were the one that caught the guy. And I had to say, I was really turned on when I heard that." Matt smirked, as that made sense. "Explains why you wanted to sleep with me when you saw me." Gabby laughed as she wrapped her arms around his muscular torso, only to have Matt wrap his arms around her too while they held each other close; after which, he leaned in and kissed the love of his life softly. "Gabby, I hope you know that I'm sorry." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Had I known all of that, I would've never gotten involved with Sylvie in the first place. I would've been with you as it makes so much sense now why you left. I mean, other than the stuff I said." Gabby agreed and sighed as she looked down.

After all, she wasn't sure whether he wanted to talk about it now or later. "You want to get it out of the way? Talk about what you told me before I left." Matt sighed. "Gabby, you need to understand. I didn't mean to hurt you like that. It just….it came out wrong." Gabby looked at Matt. "What other way could you have worded it that wouldn't break my heart? Because that's what you did Matt. You broke my heart." Matt agreed, as he knew that he did that. "I could've explained that I didn't want to risk losing the second woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with….I didn't want to be the one to kill my own wife." Gabby just looked at Matt when he said that, as she was horrified. "No, you don't feel like that would've happened." Matt agreed. "Gabby, I got you pregnant. I would've been the one that created the thing that killed you. I mean, not that Sofia is just a thing…she's our daughter and I love you both."

Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as she leaned in and took things nice and slow with the man of her dreams. "Gabby, that's how I felt at the time, and I hope you understand now why I said you can't get pregnant. I said that because…what I meant was that I couldn't get you pregnant. I couldn't take the chance that I could kill my own wife, when I already lost Hallie. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you that properly, but we're past that now. We're safe, you're here…and so is Sofia. We have the life of our dreams, and we have each other again." Gabby agreed with Matt once more, as that's precisely what they have: they're back in each other's arms. And this time, it's forever. "This time, forever." Matt agreed with Gabby, as they most certainly are forever this time. Something she decided to show Matt as she leaned in and kissed him softly, pressing her breasts against his chest even more as they held each other close.

And man, did Matt love the feeling of Gabby pressing her breasts against his chest. "OK. Now, that's hot and it's going to make me want to have sex with you." Gabby smiled. "Well, it could be our engagement celebration. I'm sorry, but I've decided to call myself your fiancé as I'm your future wife." Matt smiled, as he loves the sound of that. "Oh, you most certainly are. Now, I do need to say this. I have no idea what my future holds. Whether I stay in Portland or come home to Chicago." Gabby agreed. "How much longer do you need to stay in Portland?" Matt sighed. "Eight months." Gabby was shocked. "Hold on a second, you can come home in eight months?" Matt agreed. "I was going for three years, then I come back to the CFD." Gabby smiled when Matt said that. "Then maybe we should wait until the fall to get married." Matt was confused. "Why?" Gabby smiled. "So that our friends can be there."

Nodding, Matt agreed with Gabby; though, he doubts that they're going to be able to wait that long. "I want to marry you now though. I don't want to wait until the fall to get married." Gabby agreed, as she feels the same way. She wants to get married to him now. "As soon as we can." Matt agreed as he leaned in to kiss Gabby, until they were disturbed by his phone. "Sorry." Gabby agreed. "Go ahead, might be the boys." Rolling over, Matt went to go check his phone and sighed as he saw that it was Sylvie. "Sorry, I need to take this in the bathroom:" Gabby was confused. "Why? Oh, is it the task force?" Matt sighed. "No, it's my ex-fiancé." Gabby groaned. "Can't you just ignore her?" Matt bit his lip. "We need to co-ordinate her getting her stuff." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Just talk to her here. I'll listen in." Matt agreed as he answered his phone. "What do you want, Sylvie?" Sylvie then went to talk to him.

After all, she wants him. "Matt, I know you're mad. But, it's not too late. We can still get married. I can get them all…" Matt just interrupted her. "Sylvie, it's over. I'm not marrying you now, or ever. In fact,…" Turning his head, Matt smirked. "…me and Gabby are engaged, because we never should've divorced. Also, I'm a dad now. I have a daughter with Gabby. A biological daughter. Me and you, we don't have a daughter…and Julia isn't my biological daughter. I am not coming back to you. So, get that out of your head, especially now that I know you hurt her when we were still married. Had I known that before, we would've never been together. So, stop calling or else I will get the police involved." Hanging up, Matt went to put his phone on silent and then proceeded to get back in bed with the real love of his life. "Now, where was I?" Matt said as he laid down and cuddled up to Gabby once more.

After which, Gabby wrapped her arms around his waist and smirked as they both cuddled up to each other; while Matt wrapped his arm around her back and smirked as he stroked it with his thumb. "We're engaged, and I love the sound of that. I also love the fact that you told her that you were never going back to her, and that we have a daughter." Matt agreed with Gabby, as it's the truth. "All I said is the truth. I'm not going back to her, as I don't cheat on my fiancé." Gabby agreed with Matt, smirking as she leaned in and kissed him softly. "By the way, I can't wait to be your wife again." Matt smirked. "You know, I could always call the boys' school and say that we need them to take more time off…then, we can go to Vegas before going to Portland." Gabby laughed, as that wasn't going to happen. "I don't think we're going to have time. Remember, the boys have school." Matt sighed as he heard Gabby say that.'

After which, he leaned in and kissed her softly. "I know. Then, how about this. I don't care that we're not officially married. As of today, we're married. I'm going to call you my wife, that's final. And I hope you can do me the honor of calling me your husband." Gabby smirked, as she most certainly can do that. She can call him her husband, now and forever. "I will do that forever. Now, let's talk some more. I want to catch up and just figure things out." Matt agreed with Gabby. "Well, first things first…we need to figure out just what you need to buy when it comes to Sofia. I already have a crib set up, but it might be too big." Gabby agreed with Matt. "I can just use the one we have here at the hotel, remember? And why do you have one set up?" Matt sighed. "Sylvie adopted a baby. Well, we both did. I just haven't done it officially. Her name was going to be Julia Casey." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Not anymore."

Matt smiled as he ran his hand up and down her arm, only to lean in and kiss her softly as that's the truth. "I love you; I hope you know that." Gabby agreed, as she knows that more than anything in the entire world. "Of course, I know that Matt." Matt smiled, agreeing with Gabby. "I just don't want us to take this second chance we have with each other for granted. I love you Gabby, and I want to be with you forever this time, which means that we need to figure out a way to make sure that we resolve fights properly by talking. And not just for the sake of our relationship this time." He said, while stroking her side with his thumb. "But because of our little girl over there." Turning her head, Gabby agreed as she looked at Sofia. After which, she placed her hand on Matt's toned chest and just cuddled up to him some more. Meanwhile, Matt wrapped his arm around her back and smiled as he press his lips to her forehead.

After all, this is precisely what they both want to be doing right now. They want to hold each other close, as they take it nice and easy with each other. And damn, does Gabby love the feeling of Matt's lips on her skin again. "I love the feeling of your lips on my forehead, as I really missed it." Matt agreed, as he missed her too. "I missed you too Gabby, and I promise you that we're not loosing each other again. We're going to be together for the rest of our lives, especially since I missed you. I missed you more than anything." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Did you miss me enough to make love to me?" Matt laughed. "Babe, you just gave birth a week ago. Hell, I'm shocked that you even flew." Gabby agreed with Matt. "I flew to Miami to give birth on the 17th. Medivac as I went into labor a week early. Then, me and my mom drove here with Sofia in a rental car." Matt agreed. "Have you been careful and safe? Like, taking it easy."

Gabby agreed with Matt, as she has. "I promise, I have. I followed doctor's orders and just took it easy as my mom drove. We stayed in hotels every couple hours rather than drive straight through." Matt agreed with Gabby, glad that was the case. "Well, I'm glad. Just know that you don't need to drive anymore. I got you and I'm going to take care of the both of you for the rest of our lives." Gabby agreed with Matt, well aware that was the case as she cuddled up to him and kissed him softly once more. "I had no doubt that was the case. You're going to be a great dad. Hell, you probably are already a great dad. Wait, is that what the boys call you?" Matt sighed. "At first, they didn't because of Andy. God, I still feel guilty for not checking on them. I just assumed they were okay because they had Heather, but she's back in jail again for a DUI." Gabby sighed, shaking her head when she heard Matt tell her that. "I feel horrible."

Matt agreed. "It was because of the 10-year anniversary of Andy's death. So, just like the first anniversary." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Well, I'm proud of you for stepping up." Matt agreed with Gabby, prior to kissing her softly. After which, he felt Gabby yawn. "Hey, why you yawning?" Gabby sighed. "It's hard being a single mom to a 1-week-old baby." Matt agreed as he placed his hand on the back of her head and pressed his lips to her forehead. "Well, no more. You have me now, forever. Me and the boys." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as she cuddled up to him some more and slipped her legs in between his. After which, she looked up at Matt; while, at the same time, he looked down into her eyes and wrapped his arm around her back. He then proceeded to kiss her softly. "Can you do me a favor and kiss me until I fall asleep in your arms?" Matt agreed with Gabby, as he most certainly can do just that.

In fact, it's precisely what he's doing right now: he kissed her until they fell asleep in each other's arms.
