Chapter 12- Tory (2) Part 2
What... What is the hell is this?
Toji's eyes were widened in confusion, as he stood in the corner of the room and watched Valory.
When he accompanied her to wherever she was going, he had expected anything dark and cruel, everything really, but what he was seeing at that moment.
Nobody is truly 100% good to the core...
"Who... Who is that m...man you brought today miss Valory?" The old sick man asked, voice low and eyes half closed.
"He is a friend that helped me in bad situations, he already saved my life twice! Can you imagine that sir?" she replied, holding the old man's hand, while slowly injecting the serum into his vein.
"Sounds like... like a good man to me... Those men are ...rare dear... Hold him ...close" his voice became slower and his eyes closed more.
"I can't wait... To meet my... Lovely wife"
"How I've...m-missed you...Edeline"
Toji's eyes were starring at the bed, were the old man was saying his last words, before dying a merciful death, given by Valley, who guided him into his painless passing.
When he had passed on, she closed his eyes and sat there a moment in silence, before calling the authorities and filling a document.
Apart from the phonecall, there was only silence.
Toji had come here to find a dirty secret she had hidden, but that secret turned out to be another deep act of selflessness and kindness.
"Is everything okay, mister Fushiguro? Is this your first time seeing someone die?" Valory asked, seeing him still have that shocked expression.
"Hm? Oh no, I've seen many dead people... I've just never- seen this type of dying" He replied, still quite shocked.
"If you feel uncomfortable, it's okay if you step outside for a moment. Go ahead, you don't have to look at this" Valory said and smiled gently at him. "I know it's not easy to see, it's technically assisted suicide"
A while longer he looked at her, down to the men who had passed though her help and back at Valory.
"Looks to me as if you are freeing these people from their physical body that trapped them" he replied and he eyes widened in surprise.
"Really? Because it kind of is like that. I'll explain to you later, I'll have to do the part with the police first"
Toji nodded and stepped outside to let her do her work and not get into contact with the police. It was better than way...
He sat down on a bench a few feet away from the entrance of the house and lit a cigarette.
He didn't smoke often, it was more of a thing he did when he was trying to sort his mind and solve all the riddles that were making circles in his thoughts.
She almost sacrificed her life for a child that wasn't hers.
She visits the same cafe everyday, because she knew she resembled the owners daughter, that died years ago.
She is always kind to everyone, smiles and makes gentle gestures. Putting everyone first, always stepping back to let other pass.
And now, now she also is some sort of angle of mercy, for people who wish to die.
How... Just how could this woman seem to be so flawlessly, purely and truly good ? It couldn't be real, nobody is that way...
Nobody is truly 100% good to the core
Toji snipped his burned out cigarette away and sighted deeply. He usually didn't spent as much time on making sense of people, like he was doing with Valory.
He was very goal orientated, once he set his mind on something, which he had done with her, wanting to unravel her hidden secret.
To his disapproval, the more he discovered about her, the better of a human she seemed to become. It didn't sit right with him, he wanted to find her flaws to prove he was right.
No human is selfless and good! All humans are selfish and bad!
It was almost as if he grew dependant on her turning out to be a bad person in the end. His pride needed the affirmation he was right, such as his mind, that never got to know a truly selfless person before.
All he knew were selfish, abusive, arrogant and narcissistic people, destructively consuming everyone to their own benefit.
People that made him curse the Jujutsu world and mark all humanity as worthless evil parasites. One as disgusting as the other, with a few strong ones worth a good fight.
But then she appeared, one who didn't fit the rest of humanity he knew. The first who was different from the rest.
Well... to speak truthfully, not exactly the first. she was quite similar like her...
A picture of his first wife flashed up before his eyes.
~
"Feeling better?" Valory's voice pulled him out of his thoughts and he looked up, to see her standing a couple feet away.
"I wasn't feeling bad in the first place" he replied and watched her step closer and sit next to him down on the bench.
"Your face said something different"
"What?" He turned his head to his left and looked at her frowning.
She threw him her kind smile.
"I could see in your face that you didn't feel good, you don't have to lie to me, in fact I can see when you lie. Like when you said you were just around and accidentally found me, or when you lied about your job"
Toji's eyes widened surprised and she chuckled.
"I also know already that you've been following me. I don't know your motive, but I don't think it's to harm me, or you wouldn't step up to protect me otherwise"
What the...
Toji was flabbergasted for the first time in many years, he sat there starring at the woman, who apparently had looked though all of his actions and so casually let him know, that she can read him like an open book.
Nobody has ever been able to do that.
"I've been thinking a lot about you and what type of person you are, but I always end up in a dark fog. I can't seem to get close to what you truly are and instead get lost in the misterious darkness surrounding you"
Valory's eyes were looking past him as she spoke, but now she looked him straight in the eyes.
"Who exactly are you, Toji Fushiguro? And don't lie to me this time, I'll know if you do"
Who I am?
Toji didn't know how to reply to that question, he felt almost intimidated by her stare, those blue eyes, that seemed to look deep inside him, behind the barriers nobody could cross.
He usually didn't waver, he didn't feel intimidated or in any way felt threatened by anyone... But that weird feeling suddenly spread through his guts.
The feeling that he felt was, as if he had been stripped naked, robbed of his clothes, that mimiced his confidence.
"What do you mean?" He asked and she thought a moment of a way to phrase her question better.
"Well... I want you to tell me the truth. The truth about who you are, what you do, what your intentions are and why you seem to be so fixated on me"
"I doubt that you will enjoy that truth" he spoke, knowing that his real identity would scare her.
"Let me decide that, now go on, tell me who you really are"
