The final chapters y'all, this one is hella short but hella spicy! quartz better live a happy life after this...
"Crap…" groaned Quartz. His head hurt, and he couldn't remember much of what happened. He looked around in fear, seeing the familiar rotting floorboards, molding walls and boarded up window. "No, not again!" he said to himself. The dark purple octoling took a deep breath, then flung the door open. "YOU AREN'T TAKING ME AGAIN, YOU BITCH!" yelled Quartz. "Still fiery, I see. Perhaps my next plans for you will put you in your place, brat." said Octavia, lowly. "What plans?" asked Quartz, still keeping a brave face on.
"Cod, Octo Canyon…" mumbled Callie, who was with the others. They were just making their way into the canyon. "Don't worry, we aren't here to mess with DJ Octavio." reassured Marie. "Actually, what exactly are we dealing with, captain?"
"The octarian who practically runs the third area, Beaker's Depot, has been torturing Quartz for almost his entire life. She somehow managed to get him back here." explained Cerulean. "WE'RE GOING TO MURDER OCTAVIA ONCE AND FOR ALL!" loudly added Ember. "Wait, where's Celeste?" asked Haru, alarming everyone. "Fuck, she either got kidnapped under our noses or went off to go down some ridiculously dangerous path!" gasped Cerulean. "She can't be that dumb." muttered Marie.
"It's around here." Celeste whispered to Rayray in Beaker's Depot. The smallfry picked up a familiar piece of fabric on the ground and gave it to his partner. "What's this?" asked Celeste, brushing the dirt off of it. Her eyes widened as the Annaki logo slowly revealed itself, as well as the stitches sewed by Bay's mother. "Quartz's mask…"
She had the spirit to continue onward more than ever, ignoring the thick mud stuck to her boots. Octavia's base was close, and the rest of the splatoon probably weren't anywhere near here.
She took a deep breath…
…And felt a shot hit her backside.
Cerulean brought the others to Suction-Cup Lookout in search of a certain elite octoling to help. "Hiroko?!" called the blue inkling repeatedly. "Who's she?" asked Marie. While their captain continued looking, Haru began explaining the whole story and the two idols nodded along. "FOUND HER!" shouted Ember, pointing to a tall pillar with the elite soldier standing on top of it.
Ember inked the pillar and squid surged up it to get to Hiroko, who was staring almost blankly into the sky. "There is not much we can do…" whispered Hiroko. "Do about what?" asked Ember, keeping her unserious exterior. "I don't know what to do." replied Hiroko, jumping down to the familiar cephalopods. Ember quickly followed her.
"Octavia and a group of Octarian scientists built this horrific contraption that could destroy the fabric of our universe." explained the elite octoling. "I have no doubt that Quartz will be used to test it."
Her words sent chills down everyone's spines. "P-Please tell us what she built." responded Haru, nervously. "She believes there aren't enough soldiers on her side in this world, so she wants to create an opening to another to increase her numbers. In other words– A dimension travelling device." said Hiroko. "I don't know what to do, travelling to another universe must be highly dangerous. There might not be a way back, or she'll shut it down before we can leave." she added.
They all quietly thought for a minute. "I'll go in there. I'm not losing another person." spoke Cerulean. Callie nodded. "Guys, have we EVER been defeated?" she asked, and was met with no objections as expected. "Exactly! We're gonna get Quartz home even if we have to do it Miles Molluskales style!"
"WE'RE READY FOR COMBAT!" shouted the octoling leading Hiroko's group. "Ah, thank you Sakura!" smiled Hiroko. "Let's begin our trek to Beaker's Depot!"
"What happened to super jumping?" asked Marie, a bit snarkily. "Unsurprisingly, Octavia cut off all connections." answered the elite octoling. "There's a secret path from Slimeskin Garrison we can take, but I can't promise that it won't be blocked."
To stop him from doing anything, Octavia had Quartz in chains. After an hour of tireless, constant pulling, Octavia came back inside with a condescending expression that angered the dark purple octoling. "We captured your sister too, rat. Trapping you both will make things much easier for me." snickered Octavia.
"Trapping? Are you too cowardly to kill her?" asked Quartz in a rush of confidence. "Don't be foolish." smirked Octavia. "My army needs to expand and utilise the magic that exists in the alternate realities that have it, and I also need to ensure that every instance of your family bloodline is wiped." she said with a crooked smile. "We have finally built machinery that will allow me to find it, but I need some disposable test subjects…"
Meanwhile, Cerulean tore his way through a gang of octotroopers while Haru dealt with the snipers and Hiroko cleared a path by getting rid of the mess of octarian ink. Callie, Marie and Ember fired at the octocommanders rapidly firing shots at Cerulean. "Slimeskin's up ahead y'all!" exclaimed Ember. "
Celeste woke up, her smallfry friend nowhere to be seen. "Someone shot me…" she mumbled sluggishly. "You're finally awake, took you long enough." Octavia scowled at her. "Your brother's in his little prison cell and would love some company…"
"YOU MADE A BIG MISTAKE BRINGING ME HERE, I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" shouted the purple octoling, completely disregarding her constraints. "Don't be an idiot!" smirked Octavia. "If you want to fight, save it for the eternal hell I'm about to put you in!"
Minutes later, the siblings stood in front of a large piece of machinery. Their resistance meant nothing as they were forced in. On the inside, it felt like space and time began to warp as the two got separated…
Quartz fell in the middle of…Splatsville? A rush of fear went through him as he wondered why he was now in town, which seemed normal. "B-Bay? Kai?" he called.
"Ugh, nasty fall…" sighed Celeste. She got up and brushed the mud off her outfit, then eyed a familiar house up ahead. "Dad's house?!" she asked herself. "This could be a trap, but what if it's not? What if Quartz is in there?" She rang the doorbell.
"Who could you be?" asked an orange inkling girl. Celeste stared at her silently, and quickly realized something. "Vermillion?" she asked, getting a nod from the older inkling. "Are you a girl scout or something?" asked Vermillion. "No! I'm your brother's adopted daughter." said Celeste. "My…brother?" asked Vermillion. Celeste was completely lost. "Yes, Cer-" she stopped and thought for a moment. "Wait, there must be a reason why she's alive and is confused about Cerulean…"
"Ah, Cerulean…He truly was a light in this cruel world." sighed Vermillion. "Come in, mysterious stranger." she said. Inside, an octoling girl greeted her. "Who's this kid?" she asked. "Oh! Akari, meet…"
"Celeste." said Celeste. "Um, where are Haru and Cerulean, or Ember?" she asked. Vermillion's expression grew colder, and she took out a picture of a young Cerulean. The frame read "5/28/15." It didn't take very long for the horrifying truth to click. "He…died in your place?" asked the purple octoling. "Then that means…"
"My brother is sanatized, and he isn't doing well…" replied Akari. "I think Ember is Flint's sister, but she just drinks the years away…" she added. "THEN WHERE'S QUARTZ?!" shouted Celeste. "Calm down, tell me what happened to you." said Vermillion as she brushed off the rest of the dirt on Celeste's hero jacket. "My little brother and I were pushed into this space-time hole and now we're here…" answered Celeste.
"Makes sense, your jacket reminds me of one of my agents…" thought Vermillion. "AGENTS?! CAN THEY HELP ME?!" Celeste asked eagerly. "Of course." replied Vermillion. "4 is out, but I can get neo 3…"
"Cod, what is this place?" Quartz asked himself as he wandered the eerily familiar streets. "Watch where you're going!" exclaimed a light green inkling boy. "Hey dumbass, aren't you Ember's sister?" asked Quartz. "Why do you know that?" asked the boy- It was Flint all right. "Doesn't matter. I lost my sister and I need to find her." grumbled Quartz. "I could help you, who knows what happened to her around here…" replied Flint. "As Agent 4, it's my duty to help the weak."
Quartz nodded but was still a bit pissed at Flint for shouting at him. "You kind of remind me of this octoling we found wandering the streets recently…" said Flint. "We should pick her up from the lobby, I heard she got to play turf war with The Squid Sisters!"
"That's…my story?" muttered Quartz. "She didn't even have a name either, poor girl. Akari called her Iris because of her dark purple tentacles." chuckled Flint.
They arrived at the door, and it was about to open…All while Celeste waited for this neo 3 to show up at Vermillion's house.
"He's usually late." commented Akari. "He?" questioned Celeste, but no one answered her. The shadow of an unfamiliar face creeped closer and closer.
In Splatsville, the lobby's doors opened. "We won." said Marie in her dry tone. "HI FLINT AND RANDOM BOY! IRIS CRUSHED IT OUT THERE!" squealed Callie. "Ugh, but that random on our team tried throwing…" sighed Marie.
The third figure revealed herself. She was unfamiliar, half of her hidden behind a gas mask and her purple tentacles as dark as Quartz's. When Quartz got a look at her pink eyes, he had a terrifying realization.
"C-Celeste?"
Meanwhile…
"Gee captain, did you really have to call me after I picked up these two sweet guys?!" scoffed an octoling boy standing in Vermillion's doorway. "You're as bad as mom!" He had a confident air and donned the same sweater as Cerulean.
"Celeste, this is Lucas." said Vermillion.
His dull purple eyes didn't fool Celeste at all… "Lucas? He couldn't be…There's no way…"
