This one shot I got the idea from Gravity Falls. There was this one part in the show that dealt with Grunkle Stan not liking Waddles at all but ultimately ending up having to watch the pig for Mabel and then ending up having to go find the pig after he got captured. Anyway, this one deals with Alastor having to watch Fat Nuggets for Angel, but of course, he finds it redundant and doesn't.
Angel was trying on a new outfit he had just put together. Was he ever going to tell the others of the hotel that he could sew? Nope. Just let them think that he bought them or Val gave them to him. Truth be told, he just kept up the habit to feel close to his sister. Molly taught him to sew and since his twin wasn't, and would never be, in Hell, he decided to keep up the practice.
He looked at his pet pig and smiled. "Oh Fat Nuggets, Molly would have loved you. Having you here reminds me of her, too, ya know?"
The pig demon oinked and nuzzled Angel. The spider demon smiled, hugging his pet. "I love ya, Nuggs. You know what, I am gonna make you a cute little sweater. Hmmm, I believe that I will need some fabric that will match your cute little pink tones. Hmmm, maybe a light purple? I will go now and get a few sample fabrics." Angel paused.
Shaking his head, he sighed. "I might have to wait for Charlie to get back, though. She and Vaggie are out again, as you know Charlie. Always trying to get in every demon's business. Husk, he is probably drunk at this point. Niffty can barely take care of herself without finding danger. And Al… hmmm, I doubt he would watch you…."
Fat Nuggets oinked.
"Alright, fine, I'll ask him." Picking up the pig, he wandered around the hotel until he found the Radio Demon.
"Heya, Smiles." Angel waved at the older demon.
"Hello, Angel. Any reason why you were looking for me?"
"You knew?"
"I have eyes in the shadows."
"Ah, right…. Well, I have a small favor to ask ya."
Alastor arched a brow. "And what kind of favor is that?"
"Watch Nuggs for me." Angel said.
Alastor blinked. "You want…. Me to watch your pig?"
"Yes." Angel said.
"I don't-"
"Thank you, Smiles!" Angel handed Alastor Fat Nuggets, and the Deer Demon took the pig out of surprise.
"Wait… Angel." But Angel was already out the door. Alastor looked at the pig in his hands. Why did Angel think that he could take care of this thing? He tilted his head, and arched a brow. "You know, if Angel truly knew me, he should know that you would be devoured in seconds."
The pig oinked. Alastor rolled his eyes and set the pig down. "Now, you little piglet, I am not watching you in the slightest. Now, I have to head out now, you can stay here or do whatever. Angel is a fool to think that you need to be watched."
Alastor straightened his coat a bit, took hold of his microphone, heading out the Hotel. The pig tilted his head before following the deer demon.
Alastor eyed the pig, but said nothing. If it so wanted to follow him, he wasn't going to stop the little thing. If it was to die because it followed him, oh well. He made his way to Cannibal Town for his weekly meeting with his dear friend, Rosie.
"Oh, Alastor, so good to see… what's with the pig?"
"The little vermin thought it would be a good idea to follow me. It's one of the guest's pet." Alastor answered.
"Right… and uh, you are watching him?"
"No."
Rosie blinked, but wasn't surprised. "So is he joining us?"
"If he does, he will most likely get eaten."
"Alastor, he is one of your friend's pet. Have a little heart."
Alastor arched a brow at that remark. Rosie just shook her head. "I am very much aware of what I said, dear."
The two take a small stroll through the town, Rosie being the responsible one and shooing away cannibal that wanted to eat Fat Nuggets. Alastor just watched the scene with a content smile. Rosie sighed at her friend.
"You know, if this thing was to die, it won't be good for you." Rosie said.
"And why is that?" Alastor asked. "If he was to get mad at me for his pet to die, I could easily overtake him."
"That isn't the point. How can I put this where you would understand…" Rosie thought for a moment. "Oh, I know. You always praised your mother, you adored her, well, think of you as this Hell Hog and the owner as your mother. Your mother loved you as much as any pet owner can love their pet."
Alastor paused at this. "It's a pig, not a child."
"To his owner, he is the child. Has the owner shown attachment to the pig?" Rosie asked.
"Hmmm, maybe."
Rosie slowly blinked. "You have no idea what it is like to own a pet, do you?"
"Nope." Alastor said with a wide grin.
Rosie sighed. "Fine, I'll keep and eye on the… where did he go?" The cannibal overlord looked around.
This caused Alastor to look down at Rosie's side where Fat Nuggets had been residing. Alastor glanced around, his eyes narrowed. He paused on his search for the pig. Why did he care that the pig was missing? He didn't. However…
The overlord pictured what would happen if he did return without: Charlie would scold him for losing the pig. Vaggie would threaten him with her spear. Husk and Niffty would probably just go about their business. And Angel.
The overlord paused. Angel would more than likely cry and never speak to him. In the past, this would have been ideal, but now. The thought bothered him. Clenching his microphone, he eyed his shadow. "Find the little vermin, and fast." Alastor growled.
The shadow nodded and melted away. Rosie eyed her friend and hummed. Maybe time at that hotel has done something to the heartless overlord afterall. The shadow returned in seconds.
"Well, Rosie, I do hate to cut this short, but I have this short, but alas, I just find the troublesome pet of Angel's." He bowed before dissolving into the shadows until he reformed near the pig.
He wasn't next to Fat Nuggets, instead he was just a few feet away, and the pig had found itself being cornered by some low level demons. The demons eyes him with saliva dripping down their mouths. "Come here little piggy. We just want to take a bite out of you."
Alastor's eyes narrowed before he sent his shadow to attack the demons, sending them away. It was hardly a challenge, but the pig was safe.
Fat Nuggets looked at Alastor before running to him, rubbing his head on the Deer Demon. Alastor hummed. "Well, I hope that was enough adventure for you, little vermin. Let's head home, I already ended my day with Rosie, it seems because of this scandal." Alastor motioned for the pig to follow. Once he had returned to the hotel, he was met with a watery eyed Angel.
"You took my pig!" Angel yelled.
"And he was safe, next to me, was he not?" Alastor asked, motioning down to the demon hog. "You asked me to watch him when I had prior plans to see Rosie. Ever since my return, we have made it a goal to meet up once a week. I tried to tell you before you left so hurriedly."
Angel blinked and then his face flushed. "I… sorry."
"Don't be, my dear. The little vermin had a nice little outing with me." In response, Fat Nuggets snuggled Alastor's leg again. Angel looked at the two with surprise.
"Well, thank you for taking care of him, for me. I owe ya," Angel said, smiling before he picked up his pet. "Well, night Smiles."
"Good night, Angel."
A/N: Yay, this one is completed. I got distracted so many times while finishing this one. Glad to have made it. I enjoyed this one. Hope you guys do as well! See you all tomorrow!
