Chapter 4: The House Transfer

There I sat alone on the training ground, waiting for Albus and Scorpius to arrive for their flying session. They had been my pupils since their first year at Hogwarts. Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy had aspirations to become a seeker or secure any position in the Quidditch team, while Albus Severus Potter simply aimed to improve his skills and support his best friend. Little did they know, I was well aware of their family history – their fathers had been enemies during their school years but later became friends in adulthood and fatherhood. It was an irony that these two boys bore the names of their infamous fathers.

Particularly for Albus, the pressure to live up to his father's name, the renowned Auror Harry Potter, weighed heavily on him. Harry Potter had been one of my role models, inspiring me to pursue a career as an Auror. Mr. Malfoy and Mr. Potter had invested a considerable sum for my tutoring services, a testament to the high regard they held for my expertise. Thanks to the hefty fees set by Professor McGonagall, my tutoring sessions allowed me to balance my studies and my passion for teaching my classmates.

During the beginning of the school year, I had reached out to Scorpius after hearing about his mother's passing. Offering him and Albus a comforting embrace, I vividly remembered Scorpius sobbing on my shoulder – a moment of vulnerability that he needed to express.

As I awaited the arrival of Albus and Scorpius, my mind wandered back to the recent DM conversation I had with Eriol. The thought of seeing him again lingered in my mind, prompting a flurry of anticipation and curiosity. Despite our interactions, I realized I had never truly engaged in a proper conversation with him. He was reserved, whereas I always found myself in the spotlight. His connection to the Malfoy family and his pure-blood status added layers of complexity to our dynamic. I couldn't help but wonder if he recognized his true potential, particularly the power he wielded over my heart. A simple message from him was enough to brighten my day.

Soon enough, Albus and Scorpius arrived, equipped with their broomsticks and lunch. They were dressed in their flying attire, contrasting with my casual school uniform. Accepting the sandwich offered by Scorpius, I expressed my gratitude before being taken aback by Albus's unexpected gesture – a gift from Eriol. It left me momentarily speechless, wondering what good deed warranted such a thoughtful present.

"He said it was a thank you gift for the potions," Albus explained, breaking the silence.

"He really didn't have to," I murmured, feeling a mix of surprise and appreciation.

"Perhaps it's an opportunity to thank him in person," Albus suggested, a thoughtful glint in his eye.

"Remind me to pick up Eriol from class later," Albus instructed Scorpius, my mind already preoccupied with thoughts of our impending conversation.

Alas! Despite my hopes, I didn't manage to speak to Eriol at all that day. Exhaustion weighed heavily on me, prompting me to ignore all notifications from my phone and head straight to bed. As usual, I was the first to wake up the next morning, having gone to sleep the earliest.

With eager anticipation, I admired the present Eriol had given me. It seemed almost too beautiful to unwrap. His handwriting on the card filled me with excitement – a small yet significant detail that made my heart flutter. The card read:

"Thank you very much for your help.

Happy birthday, Daidouji.

E."

He remembered my birthday! The gesture filled me with warmth and gratitude.

Carefully unwrapping the gift, I discovered a blue velvet box and a sweet treat from Kyoto, a city I admired from afar. The thoughtfulness behind the gift made me pause, wishing I could share it with him. Opening the velvet box revealed a stunning pair of wing-shaped hairpins in white gold, adorned with what appeared to be diamonds. I couldn't believe my eyes. While I knew his family was affluent in the magical world, the generosity of such a gift left me in awe.

Excitedly, I pranced and leaped out of my dormitory, feeling a surge of energy. After tending to my morning routine – showering, skincare, makeup, and hair styling – I made my way to the common room. There, I found a plethora of birthday presents awaiting me, including thoughtful gifts from Scorpius and Albus.

A pang of self-directed frustration washed over me as I realized how foolish I had been to expect Eriol to remember my birthday. Of course, he would have known from the array of gifts scattered before me. I cursed myself inwardly for my naive assumptions.

Entering the headmaster's office is always an intriguing experience. The room is adorned with countless peculiar objects and portraits that appear lifelike. I took a deep breath, attempting to shake off the feeling of nervous excitement as I approached Professor McGonagall's desk, summoned to see her this morning.

"Good morning, Professor McGonagall," I greeted her.

"Tomoyo Daidouji, take a seat," Professor McGonagall gestured toward a chair. A sense of anticipation washed over me, wondering why I had been called to the headmaster's office. "It can be quite challenging to find you in Hogwarts amidst your activities."

"I'm so sorry, Professor. What do I owe the pleasure of this summons?" I asked, curiosity bubbling beneath the surface.

She looked at me with her stern yet kind eyes, "No, my dear. In fact, there's a rather unusual request that has come our way."

Unusual request? My mind raced with possibilities. Was it related to my performance in classes, or something else entirely?

"Professor, may I know what the request is?" I inquired, trying to hide my growing curiosity.

Professor McGonagall sighed, "It's about a house transfer. A request for you to move from Gryffindor to Ravenclaw."

My eyes widened in surprise. A house transfer? But Gryffindor had become a second home to me. I hesitated before expressing my concern, "Why would anyone request such a thing, Professor?"

She leaned back in her chair, "The request didn't come from you, Miss Daidouji. It's a suggestion brought forth by someone who believes it might be in your best interest."

I furrowed my brow, puzzled by the mysterious suggestion. "But, Professor, I can't imagine leaving Gryffindor. I have my friends here, and there's someone…"

Before I could finish, Professor McGonagall raised an eyebrow, "Someone? Care to elaborate?" I could see her tease. I blushed.

I hesitated for a moment but decided to drop a subtle hint, "Well, Professor, there's someone in Gryffindor who makes staying here worthwhile. I couldn't bear to part ways. Besides, I have faith that he was going to be a Prefect and I'd like to see that…."

She seemed to catch my drift and offered a slight smile, "Miss Daidouji, your reasons are duly noted. I believe the matter will be reconsidered. You may return to your training."

Relief washed over me as I stood up, "Thank you, Professor."

"One more thing."

"What is it, Professor?" I was curious.

"I think that special someone of yours would be qualified to be the Prefect." She winked at me. I gave her my brightest smile. "And for your information, he also turned down the house transfer three days ago."

As I left the office, I couldn't help but wonder who had suggested this unusual request and why. Little did I know that my world at Hogwarts was about to take an unexpected turn. Nevertheless, I was so happy that I kept seeing Eriol. This year he made me leap and jump everywhere.
