Episode 160: The Legend of Thunder Part 1
One day, a Pokemon battle is taking place.
One trainer says, "Let's only use one Pokémon."
"That's fine with me! When I battle, I like to go one on one, all or nothing!" Another trainer says.
This trainer has dark purple hair, wears a black and yellow cap. He also wears a red and white jacket, and matching black and yellow shorts, and black, yellow, and white shoes.
The trainer with the blue shirt says, "That's what you say now. But, you know, I don't think you're going to feel that way for long.
"And why is that?" the other trainer asks.
"Because you've never met, Hitmonlee!" The boy says and calls out Hitmonlee.
Hitmonlee soon makes the scene.
"We've never lost a solo match," the Hitmonlee trainer says.
Then the other trainer says, "Well, you know what, then? We'll just have to do our best! Right, Typhlosion?!"
And his Typhlosion comes out of the Pokeball.
Typhlosion is a bulky mammalian Pokémon with a long, yet agile body. Most of its body is cream-colored, but its back and the top of its head are a dark green-blue. It has a short, rounded snout and small, triangular eyes and ears. When its mouth is open, its sharp canine teeth and thick tongue are visible. Each of its paws has five digits and there is a coarse, spiky fringe of fur along its rear. Across the back of its neck, several red spots can produce fire.
"That's the spirit, buddy!" the Typhlosion trainer says.
His Pokemon lets out a roar.
Typhlosion trainer asks, "Ready?"
"Any time," Hitmonlee's trainer answers.
Then calls out the first attack, "Jump Kick, Hitmonlee!"
Hitmonlee throws the first attack.
"We like to put our best foot forward," Hitmonlee's Trainer says.
"That's good," Typhlosion's trainer says, Then says, "Typhlosion, block!"
Typhlosion grabs Hitmonlee's leg.
Hitmonlee's trainer then calls out the next attack, "Hitmonlee, don't hesitate! Rolling Kick!"
Hitmonlee throws the attack with the other leg, hitting Typhlosion.
"Yeah! Way to go!" Hitmonlee's trainer says.
Typhlosion suddenly gets serious.
Hitmonlee's trainer is shocked, "What? How can it still be standing?"
"Well, you see, the thing is, we've only won half our solo matches. But we've picked up a thing or two along the way," Typhlosion's trainer says.
Then Hitmonlee's trainer says, "Well, see if you can pick up this! Hitmonlee, Mega Kick, go!"
Hitmonlee then throws the attack.
But then Typhlosion's trainer says, "Typhlosion, Flamethrower!"
Typhlosion's trainer then launches the attack and hits Hitmonlee, hard, before it comes back down in defeat.
Hitmonlee's trainer cries out, "No! Hitmonlee!"
"You rock, you rule!" Typhlosion's trainer cheers, giving his Pokemon a thumbs up.
Typhlosion roars, "Raaaa kaaaaa!" (Oh, yeah!)
Both trainer and Pokémon celebrate.
Typhlosion's trainer calls out, "Oh, yeah! High paw!"
"Raaaa roo!" (High Paw) Typhlosion roars.
The crowd on the sidelines applauds.
One person says, "That kid was really good."
"So was Typhlosion!" A child happily adds.
The Hitmonlee trainer is tending to his Pokemon, "Are you alright, Hitmonlee?"
Hitmonlee confirms that it is.
Then Typhlosion's trainer reaches his hand out, " Hitmonlee fought well. And so did you, dude."
"Thanks, and back at ya," Hitmonlee's trainer says, taking the boy's hand and standing up, "We're going to learn from this defeat and next time, we'll be stronger."
Soon, a boy with light brown hair, wearing a greenish shirt and gray pants walks over.
The boy says, "You did great, Jimmy."
"Yeah. Typhlosion is getting stronger," The girl says.
The girl with the boy has blue hair, green eyes. She is wearing a pink shirt with a white jacket with pink cuffs, and a bluish gray like hat.
The boy, Jimmy smiles and says, "Thanks Vincent. You too, Marina."
Meanwhile, somewhere in the canyon is a Team Rocket airplane. It flies towards a mountain before landing at a secret and hidden Team Rocket base. Once landed, the passengers disembark to meet the man in charge of the base. One of them is a tan man with blonde hair and the other is a woman with silver gray hair. Both of them are wearing Team Rocket uniforms. The two are soon greeted by a group of scientists, and one of them is Professor Sebastian.
Prof. Sebastian says, "Welcome, Hun. And who's your new partner?"
"Attila's the world's foremost wrangler. Isn't that, right?" The woman, Hun, answers.
"Nothing I can't catch, given the right gear," The man, Attila answers.
"Oh, the gear is very right. If you'll kindly follow me," Prof. Sebastian answers.
He then leads both Team Rocket members into another room in the base.
"I believe you'll find this electrifying," Prof. Sebastian says.
"Is that it?" Hun questions.
"Yes, it is, Hun," Prof. Sebastian says, "That is the Miracle Crystal. Once activated, it can control electricity itself. We've prepared a little demonstration for you. Let us begin."
Inside the room it appears to be a purple crystal in some machine to keep it in place.
"Yes, sir, Professor Sebastian. Removing the safety lock," A scientist answers.
Another scientist says, "Activating the crystal's resistance coating."
"Powering up," A third scientist says.
Soon, the crystal activates and begins to glow.
Prof. Sebastian says, "Alright, prepare the artificial lightning."
Soon, lightning rods are seen and let out.
"Lightning generation rods, standing by," the scientist says.
"Fire now," Professor Sebastian says.
The lightning is fired, and the crystal attracts it.
"Whoa," Hun says, impressed.
Then Prof. Sebastian explains, "The crystal will absorb every amp of electricity that passes within ten feet of it, no matter how powerful or how concentrated the electric blast. The crystal captures it and stores it in its central grid. Then that power belongs to you, and you can use it any time, and in any way you choose."
Lightning rods launch lightning all around the room.
Prof. Sebastian then says, "The brilliant part is that the crystal doesn't just capture power, it also attracts it by transmitting a charge that's so irresistible, that everything electrical is drawn to it."
The rods are soon destroyed.
"But as you two already know very well, we're not after lightning bolts," Prof. Sebastian adds.
"No, we're not,"Attila answers.
"If this works as well as you say, it won't be long before unlimited power is in our hands," Hun says.
"Oh, it'll work as I say, believe me," Prof. Sebastian says and chuckles.
"Indeed, and we have the perfect bait to lure it out," Hun says.
Hun then brings out an eggubator from the bag. Inside the eggubator is an egg. It's yellow with black stripes, and has white and blue on the front and purple on the back.
Distance away from the mountain…
Mew and her friends continue their journey to return Larvitar to his birth place at Mt. Silver while heading to the Johto League Silver Conference.
Misty soon notices, "Look over there."
The group looks ahead to see a short distance away, is a Pokemon Center.
"There's the Pokemon Center. Right here in the guide book," Brock says.
"Great. Let's head over there so we can rest," Mew says.
Sometime later, Mew and her friends reach the Pokemon Center, and are having a rest and help get some of their Pokemon recovered.
"It's nice to relax here," Casey says.
"Yeah. We've been walking for a while," Tomo says.
Larvitar, who is on Mew's lap, is feeling tired.
Molly turns to Larvitar, "Are you tired too, Larvitar?"
Larvitar shivers a bit and recoils to Mew.
"Larvitar is a little tired," Mew says.
"It's probably best for us to rest a little while. The next town and Mt Silver are still ways away," Brock says.
"Good idea," Misty says.
"Maybe we can stay here the night," Jen says.
At another part of the Pokemon Center, there's Jimmy, brushing his Typhlosion.
Jimmy happily says, "I'm so proud of you. You were really awesome today. You're not just getting stronger, you're getting smarter, too."
Marina is also brushing her Misdreavus hair, "You love getting your hair brushed, right Misdreavus."
Vincent is feeding his Meganium, "Take your time Meganium, we still have time before we head out for the Pokemon League."
Suddenly, Marina gasps, "Guys!"
"What's up, Marina!"Jimmy asks.
She then points in a specific direction, "Look over there."
Jimmy and Vincent turn to see Mew and her group. Mew, Molly, and Jen are cleaning their eggs. Misty, Brock, and Tomo are helping Mew with her other eggs.
"That's a lot of eggs they got," Jimmy says.
"I'm not talking about the eggs. I'm talking about the two Pokemon,"
Vincent soon notices, "Woah, is that a Zeraora?!"
"And look at that cute Pokemon with the music note. Aww, I love her hair," Marina says.
Then Marina approaches them.
"Wait, Marina!" Jimmy cries out.
But it's too late, Marina approaches Mew and her friends, "Excuse me?"
Mew and the others turn to see Marina.
"Hello. Is there something we can do for you?" Misty asks.
"Yes. I just want to say that I really like your Pokemon. She's really pretty," Marina says, looking towards Meloetta, "She looks so pretty and I love her hair and accessories."
Meloetta blushes and feels bashful.
"Thank you. I take good care of Meloetta," Tomo says.
Then Marina says, "I can tell that she's well looked after."
Then turns to Zeraora, "And Zeraora is so cool."
"Thanks. Papa is very strong," Mew says.
"Papa?" Marina questions.
"Marina," Jimmy says as he and Vincent approach.
"Sorry about her, she can get kind of excited," Jimmy says.
"That's okay," Mew says.
"Well, I gotta say, that's a cool Zeraora you've got. It's a very rare Pokemon," Vincent says.
"Maybe so, but he's still my papa," Mew says.
"Did you say, papa? Like as in, dad?" Vincent questions.
"That's right," Mew says.
Then Jimmy says, "Wait a minute, I remember where I've seen you two before, including that Pikachu and Eevee. You're Mew, you're the youngest trainer to win the Pokemon League in Kanto."
"Yes. My name is Mew, and these are my friends. Misty, Brock, Tomo, Jen, Molly, and Casey," Mew says, introducing herself and her friends.
"Hi, my name is Jimmy, and these are my friends, Marina and Vincent," Jimmy says.
"Hello," Mew and her friends reply.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you," Marina says.
"Hey," Vincent says.
"So what brings you guys here?" Jimmy asks.
Ï'm competing in the Johto League Silver Conference, so we're heading to Mt. Silver," Mew says.
"That's cool. Jimmy and I are competing ourselves and heading to Mt. Silver," Vincent says.
"So that means you guys will be competing as well," Misty says.
"That's right, my Typhlosion and I are feeling ready, but we still got some training before the Conference starts," Jimmy says.
"Me and my Meganium as well," Vincent says.
Brock turns to Marina and asks, "How about you, Marina? Are you competing?"
"Oh no. In fact, I'm a Pokemon Coordinator, so I compete in contests," Marina says.
"Really?" Molly asks.
"Yeah. I'm doing very well with my contest performance," Marina says.
"How many ribbons did you get?" Misty asks.
Marina then brings out her ribbon case and shows them to everyone, "I've got four ribbons so I'm working on my fifth and final ribbon."
"That's great to hear," Mew says.
Tomo then says, "Your Typhlosion looks so cool, too."
"Thanks. It's my very first Pokemon. I got it when it was a Cyndaquil from Professor Elm," Jimmy says.
"Same with my Meganium when it was Chikorita," Vincent says.
"And my Croconaw when it was Totodile," Marina says.
"So all of you got your Pokemon from Professor Elm?" Misty asks.
"Yeah. Our hometown is New Bark Town. We've been friends since we were little," Vincent says.
Then Casey says, "Hey, I'm from New Bark town too."
"That's amazing," Marina says.
"Cool. So that means all three of us are rivals," Jimmy says.
then Vincent turns to Casey, "What about you Casey?"
"I only got four badgers, but I plan to cheer for Mew at the Silver Conference. And maybe I can learn a few things from going there," Casey says.
"Sounds like a good idea. Then you can learn about the Silver and catch more Pokemon along the way," Jimmy says.
"I plan on it," Casey says.
Jimmy then has an idea and says, "Hey Mew, how about you and can battle a little before we head out?"
"Great idea. We still have time before the Johto League starts and a long way to get there," Mew says.
"Yeah," Jimmy says. "What do you say?"
"You're on," Mew says, determined.
Shortly after, everyone gathers outside behind the Pokemon Center. Both Mew and Jimmy are ready to battle.
Brock is refereeing, "Okay everyone, we'll have a two Pokemon battle! The trainer wins when both of the opponent's Pokemon are unable to fight.
"Okay," Mew and Jimmy say.
"Alright, let's the match begin," Brock says.
Mew then calls out her first Pokemon, "Cutiefly, I choose you!"
And Cutiefly comes out.
"Aww, it's so adorable," Marina says.
"Alright then," Jimmy says and calls out his Pokemon, "And I choose Beedrill!"
And Beedrill comes out.
Mew calls out, "Cutiefly, use Swift!"
Cutefly performs Swift Attack.
Jimmy calls out, "Beedrill, Agility!"
Beedrill dodges the attack and flies around Cutiefly.
Then Jimmy calls out, "Now, use Twin Needle!"
Beedrill launches the attack.
"Cutiefly, dodge!" Mew calls out.
Cutiefly dodges the attack on top speed.
Mew then calls out, "Now, Dazzling Gleam!"
Then Cutiefly launches the attack and it hits Beedrill.
"Hey, not bad," Jimmy says.
"Thanks, and we're just getting started," Mew says.
"Me too," Jimmy says.
And calls out the attack, "Use Pin Missile!"
Beedrill then launches Pin Missile.
"Cutiefly, use Protect!" Mew calls out.
Cutiefly uses the attack to protect itself from the Pin Missile.
"Now Moonblast!" Mew calls out.
Then Cutiefly launches Moonblast and is enough to blast Beedrill and knocks it out.
"Beedrill!" Jimmy cries out.
And Beedrill is knocked out on the ground.
Brock announces, "Beedrill is unable to battle. Cutiefly wins."
"Alright, you were great Cutiefly," Mew happily says.
Cutiefly happily buzz with a smile. Suddenly, Cutiefly begins to glow. Everyone is surprised to see Cutiefly evolving before everyone's eyes. After her shape change and gaining limbs and other features, Cutiefly has evolved.
"Wow! It evolved!" Marina says, surprised.
"What kind of pokemon is that?" Molla asks.
"It's really cute," Misty says.
"Cutiefly evolved into Ribombee," Mew says and takes out her Pokedex.
Dexter says, "Ribombee, the Bee Fly Pokemon, and the evolved form of Cutiefly. A Bug and Fairy Type. Ribombee can sense when people or Pokémon are feeling down, and it will cheer them up with handmade pollen puffs."
"Congrats on evolving Ribombee, and you did great at battle" Mew says, and returns Ribombee to the Pokeball, "You get some rest."
Jimmy then calls back Beedrill into the Pokeball, "You did a great battle Beedrill. You get a good rest."
Then Jimmy asks, "Ready for the next match?"
"Sure am," Mew says.
Jimmy then calls out, "For round 2, I choose, Typhlosion!"
Then Typhlosion comes out.
"Typhlosion huh. Well then, I know who to choose," Mew says.
She then turns her head and calls out, "Alright Eevee, let's do it."
Eevee soon runs to the battlefield.
"Eevee!" (Ready Mew!) Eevee says.
Confused, Marina asks, "Mew's going with Eevee? But isn't Eevee at a disadvantage because of its size."
"Maybe, but this Eevee looks like it's well trained," Vincent says.
"Vincent is right. Eevee has been with Mew longer than Pikachu, even before Mew went on her journey," Tomo says.
"Wow. Guess Eevee must be very tough," Marina says.
Suddenly, Misdreavus, Zeraora, and the other Pokemon sense something. Marina and the others notice it.
"Uh oh," Marina says.
Everyone looks up to see storm clouds blowing in their direction.
"Look at those thunder clouds rolling in," Marina says.
"It's going to pour soon," Misty says.
Mew turns to Jimmy, "Do you think we should put the battle on hold?"
"Hmm. I think we can still battle before the storm hits. Let's finish this battle and get back to the Pokemon Center after," Jimmy says.
"Okay then," Mew says.
She then calls out, "Use Quick Attack, Eevee!"
With that Eevee charges in for the attack.
Jimmy calls out, "Use Quick Attack too!"
Typhlosion then charges in for the attack. But before they can collide, a lightning bolt grabs everyone's attention, bringing the match to a halt.
"Is everyone alright?" Jimmy asks.
Everyone, including the Pokemon, confirms that they're okay. They soon look at the sky to see the storm is coming in quicker than normal.
"Wow. That sure is strange," Vincent says.
"I've never seen lightning like that," Marina says.
Mew, Zeraora, Eevee, and Pikachu, and even the Pokemon sense that something is wrong. Another lightning bolt flashes around the area.
Then Jimmy calls out, "Get back to the Pokémon Center."
Suddenly, Mew, Zeraora, Pikachu, and Eevee rush into the woods toward the storm.
"Wait! Mew!" Marina cries out.
"Where are you going?!" Jen calls out.
Soon, the other Pokemon begin to head towards the storm as well.
"They're going the wrong way!" Marina calls out.
Jimmy calls back his Pokemon, "Return, Typhlosion!"
"Little Miss, return!" Marina says and returns her pokemon to the Pokeball.
"But the rest of the Pokemon are getting away!" Vincent says.
"Come on guys, we gotta follow Mew and the others," Brock says.
"Why?" Marina asks.
"The Pokemon sense something is wrong, and we need to know why," Tomo says.
"Let's hurry," Misty says and picks up Molly.
"Yeah. Before we lose her!" Casey says.
Soon, everyone hurries off.
"Wait for us!" Vincent calls out.
Soon, Vincent, Marina, and Jimmy follow the group as well.
Further ahead, Attila and Hun are revealed to have set up the Miracle Crystal, hence the storm.
"The good doctor was right. Its signal is irresistible! Electric type Pokémon are coming from everywhere!" Attila says.
"Yes, but what about the one?" hun responds.
"There's no sign of it yet," Attila says, "You know, I'm not even sure this thing exists. I mean, aren't legends like made up stories or fairy tales or something?
"Well, sure, they can be," Hun says and looks at the egg set on the ground beside her, "Even though we have a Pokemon Egg of that very Pokemon. But there's only one way to find out. They say that wherever there are Pokémon in trouble, this thing shows up to help them, so why don't we make some trouble for these Pokémon?
"Good idea, Hun," Attila says and laughs.
Soon, several electric Pokémon show up, among them Raichu, Mareep, Magnemite, Magneton, Flaffy, Voltrob and Electrode.
Seeing the Pokemon, "Attila says, "Alright, it's roundup time! You know, this reminds me of big time roping and ranching at my uncle's place in the Black Hills. Here we go. Yippie-ai-ay!"
The machine that Attila is piloting suddenly grabs a Voltorb and a Mareep with extendable grabbing arms. A Raichu steps in with a Thunderbolt, but it gets drawn towards the Miracle Crystal and blasted with its own power, along with the other electric Pokémon, knocking them out as Attila laughs.
"Now all we have to do, is sweep em up," Attila says.
Soon enough, Mew, Zeraora, Pikachu, and Eevee reach the site of the event. Misty, and the others arrive to catch up.
"There you guys are!" Casey says.
"What's going on, Mew?" Brock asks.
Mew looks ahead, "Take a look over there!"
Everyone looks and sees Attila picking up the Raichu and a Mareep.
"Hey, this is like that contest game," Attila says and laughs, "Only here, you win a prize every time."
"Stop messing around and throw those in the hold, then quickly grab all the others," Hun says, "There's no need to be delicate either. If you knock em around a little, it might speed things up."
Everyone watches in shock to see the two humans capturing the Pokemon.
"What's going on?" Vincent asks.
"I don't know, but those Pokemon need help," Marina says.
"I agree. We need to help them," Mew says.
"Then let's hurry," Jimmy says.
Suddenly, lightning flashes over the tallest mountain in the area, catching everyone's attention, followed by a roar.
"What was that?" Jimmy asks.
"That lighting was bright!" Molly says.
"And that roar is loud," Mew says.
"That was either the world's biggest lightning bolt, or a living legend. It's about to pop in and say hi!" Attila says.
"Here it comes," Hun says.
Lightning strikes the mountain top, and appears on the top is a Pokemon. The Pokemon is a quadrupedal, yellow, tiger-like Pokémon with black stripes and a white underside. It has a thin, light blue tail with sharp angles and a spark-shaped formation at the end. Most of its face consists of thick, white fur and shorter yellow fur around its red eyes. Its muzzle is a light blue "X" and it has a black faceplate with two bumps that cover its forehead, nose, and ears. It has two long fangs that make its appearance similar to the saber-toothed cat. Its large claws each converge to form a single point and never retract. Extra fur hangs off its body in front of its thighs, and has a mane across its back that resembles dull purple rain clouds and allows it to shoot bolts of lightning.
"Guys, what is that?" Marina asks, shocked.
Mew soon realizes, "It's Raikou. One of the legendary beasts."
Jimmy brings out his Pokedex and Dexter says, "Raikou, the Thunder Pokémon. An Electric Type. It's said to have descended to Earth on a bolt of lightning."
"I thought Raikou was just a legend," Marina says.
"So, did I," Jimmy says.
"Me too," Vincent says.
Raikou descends from the mountain, giving the smaller electric Pokémon a chance to escape, while it tears the arms off the machine and frees the Mareep and Raichu. Then throws the piece of metal arm from its mouth.
"Those guys don't seem scared of Raikou at all," Molly says, worried.
"Yeah. It's like they're happy that Raikou's here," Jimmy says.
"It's like they're expecting it to come.
"Alright. I think it's rodeo time, big guy," Hun says.
"Hey, Hun, since this thing's legendary, after we catch it, maybe we'll be legendary, too," Attila says.
Then Hun says, "My suggestion, Attila, is to catch it first, then we'll worry about our reputations," and picks up the egg in her arms.
"Alright. Come here, little stripe-er!" Attila says, and sends the robotic arms after it.
Raikou dodges all four mechanical arms easily and fires a Thunderbolt.
"Whoa! Look at that power!" Jimmy says.
However, the attack is sucked into the Miracle Crystal, shocking the group.
"Hey! How did that happen?!" Marina asks, shocked.
"It's like that strange crystal sucked up the attack energy!" Misty says.
"Excellent. The meters are off the dial!" Hun says, "We're loaded with juice! Now we'll see how that big behemoth likes it when we reverse the charges."
"They're taking its power," Brock says, shocked.
"But it doesn't know it," Mew says, shocked.
Raikou fires another attack, but it gets sucked up as well, widening the forcefield around the crystal.
"Hey, there! Fire again! Come on!" Attila calls out to it.
Raikou tries again, but the attack comes back on Raikou.
"Raikou!" Mew cries out.
Raikou tries attacking the crystal again, but with the same result each time it does.
"It's perfect. The more it fights, the stronger we get," Hun says.
Finally, Raikou falls.
Having enough standing around and doing nothing, Mew, Tomo, and even Jimmy decide to make their move.
"Now the legend has shifted from legendary creatures to legendary captors. Attila, pick it up," Hun says.
"Right," Attila says.
"Stop right there!" Mew shouts.
Hun and Attila turn to see Mew, Tomo, and Jimmy.
"You get away from Raikou!" Jimmy shouts.
"Leave it alone!" Tomo shouts.
"Sorry, kids. Can't do it," Hun says.
Raikou notices Mew, Tomo, and Jimmy standing up for it.
"It belongs to us now," hun says.
And Attila says, "So, if I were you, I'd get going while it's still an option."
"We're not going to let you take it!" Mew says.
"Yeah! You can't get away with this!" Tomo says.
"We're not leaving without Raikou!" Jimmy says and calls out, "Go, Typhlosion!"
Soon Typhlosion comes out.
"Pikachu! Eevee! Let's do it!" Mew says.
Pikachu and Eevee do so.
"Meloetta. Skwovet. Let's do it," Tomo says.
Meloetta and Skwovet agree.
"Hey. A battle," Attila says, and throws his Pokéball.
"This won't take very long," Hun adds and throws her Pokéball.
Out of the Pokeballs are Skarmory and Steelix.
"Because it's been such a great day, I'm going to give you a warning. Leave now or be destroyed," Hun says.
Typhlosion's neck flames ignite.
"We're not going to let you get away with Raikou or any other Pokrmon," Mew says.
Then Jimmy says, "You let Raikou go, or you're in for the fight of your life!"
With Team Rocket having weakened Raikou, Jimmy and Typhlosion, Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee will have to fight hard to save it. But will they overcome the power and speed duo of Attila's Steelix and Hun's Skarmory?
