And NOW we are arriving at the Tree of Life!
Enjoy!
Castle That Never Was, Proof of Existence:
Merlock stood before Master Xehanort, Maleficent, Pete, Mortimer, Ansem, Xemnas, Young Xehanort, and Xigbar. Behind him stood Glomgold, Magica, Ma Beagle, Big Time, Bouncer, Burger, Black Arts, Karnage, Beaks, Sheldgoose, Felldrake, Leopold, Steelbeak, and Black Heron.
"Master Xehanort. The pleasure is all mine to meet you." Merlock said respectfully.
"Likewise, Merlock the Magician." Xehanort smirked. "It is most helpful to have you on our side of darkness."
"Yes indeed." Maleficent nodded. "It has been a very long time, my old friend."
"Yes it has Maleficent. And I am honored that you were the one who thought of me to join your ranks." Merlock said.
"I'm surprised that you're working for Ol' Flinty over there." Mortimer commented.
"Well he is an enemy of that quackers family," Pete pointed out.
"Nice smarts, Pete. You could graduate from ." Xigbar mocked with a smirk.
Pete pouted.
Ansem approached the warlock. "The darkness in your heart is powerful Merlock." he said. "And yet, you manage to keep it under proper control."
Merlock chuckled. "Like my dark fairy and sorceress allies, I have had lots of practice." he replied. "Mastering the dark arts, studying great and powerful mage magic."
"Boy do you have quite the hobbies." Xigbar mused.
"And yet, they have helped him become a powerful magician who can help us achieve our goal.. Xemnas said.
"Hey! After he helps me and me family take our revenge on the McDuck family for good!" Glomgold yelled.
"Watch your tone Flinty or this family might just break up just to spite you." Heron scowled.
Glomgold quickly shut up.
"You can start your assistance to the darkness by helping Clan Glomgold, yes." Xehanort nodded. "However, there are other tasks you can accomplish during your time with us all."
"One bing help us restore to life other potential allies like we did with Scar and Nuka." said Young Xehanort. "Another would be helping us complete out thirteenth vessel."
Merlock raised an eyebrow. "You mean your ranks aren't fulfilled yet?" he asked.
"We had complications when the so-called Guardians of Light deliberately restored Saïx and Terra to their human forms." Xemnas replied. "It was already difficult enough when they rescued Sora himself from being our vessel when we sabotaged his Mark of Mastery Exam."
"And yet in the end he achieved the title of Keyblade Master." snorted Ansem. "And prior to that, the human forms of Vexen and Zexion made Roxas and Xion human…"
"Thankfully, I was able to bring Terra's possessed heart from the past and put him into a vessel to replenish our ranks." Young Xehanort said. "And we were lucky Sephiroth was willing to join us, even with a piece of my further self's heart within him."
"But once Number XIII is complete and fully trained, than we will be ready." Xehanort said. "And you, Merlock the Magician, can help us accomplish that."
Merlock smirked. "I am more than willing to do so Master Xehanort. But in order to do such a spell, I will need a special spell book… Le Grimoire du Merlock."
"Oh is that your own self-published novel?" Beaks asked.
"Not necessarily." Merlock replied. "It's my special spell book. Full of my more compacted spells, especially the ones I rarely use."
Magica hummed to herself. "You know, during my time spying on the family through Lena, I saw that pathetic Webbigail Vanderquack have the book in her possession. When we attack the family again in revenge, we can swipe it from the pink duck's room… or her grasp, if she has it with her."
"That's very much fine with me." Heron smirked.
"Now then, all of you, prepare for when you're ready to attack," said Maleficent.
"You got it!" said Ma Beagle.
And Clan Glomgold walked away.
"Does anyone else seem to notice that Master Xehanort and Merlock seem to sound similar?" Karnage asked the group as they all walked.
"Come to think of it… they kinda do." hummed Sheldgoose.
"Ooh! And Fake Ansem sounds like Terra from Keyblade Past!" said Big Time.
Steelbeak scoffed. "No way! I think we would've noticed that!"
"Since when do you ever think?" jabbed Heron.
The villains laughed as Steelbeak pouted.
The rest turned to each other.
"So what's next for us?" Pete asked.
"Now… we prepare for the Tree of Life." said Young Xehanort.
"While it isn't the Keyblade war, given how many animals there are, especially the amount of predators of all sizes…" began Ansem.
"The outcome will be… quite gruesome." Xemnas finished, smirking wickedly.
Lanes-In-Between:
The Gummiship sailed around closer to the location of the Tree of Life.
The animals from the Pride Lands and Outlands looked around.
"I never knew the sky could look so colorful." commented Ono.
"Me neither. And I thought sunsets were pretty." said Anga.
"The sunrises are pretty, especially from the top of Pride Rock, but this is something else." said Kiara.
"So what does that red thing do?" asked Bunga, pointing at a red button.
"That's the heater." said Isa, not even looking as he read a book called, Anyone Can Cook by Chef Auguste Gusteau he got from the Twilight Town Bistro.
"What about that blue one?" asked Bunga.
"Air conditioner." said Max, examining some potions he had attached to his belt.
"And the green one?" asked Bunga.
"Party button." said Donald, painting a picture of himself… with extra muscles. "Ha ha!" he quacked with a grin.
"Ooh a party button?!" Bunga grinned, about to push it.
"Bunga, don't even think about it." Fuli scolded.
Bunga pouted in annoyance.
"So this extraordinary mode of transportation allows you to travel from world to work?" Zazu inquired.
"Pretty much." said Kairi, looking at the radar. "It's built out of special Gummi Blocks. At least that's what our friends Chip and Dale said."
"Well it is impressive all the way." said Nala. "And this, what you call a, carpet is awfully soft on my paws."
"And it is nice to lay down on." said Tiifu, lying down to rest.
"I've never seen such pretty colors in my life." said Anga, looking at the Lanes-In-Between.
"Yeah, it's one of the best views I've ever seen!" said Ono. "And you guys get this all the time?"
"Whenever we have to travel." Mickey replied. "Whether it's on a mission,"
"Or just a social visit." added Minnie.
"Especially if there's no one with transportation magic around." added Donald.
Jasiri's nose picked up something. "What's that smell?" she asked.
"Ooh. Sorry." Pumbaa apologized.
"Believe us Pumbaa, if that was you, we'd all be passed out." Timon deadpanned.
"It's not you Pumbaa." Jasiri chuckled. "It's a nice smell. It's coming from the next room."
Jasiri walked into the kitchen area where she saw Aqua cooking on the stove.
"Aqua?" the hyena called.
Aqua looked down. "Hmm? Oh hello Jasiri." she greeted. "I'm cooking some meatballs for my spaghetti."
"I've never heard of such a meal… except the meat part." Jasiri said.
Aqua fixed a small bowl of spaghetti with a few meatballs and set it at Jasiri's paws. "Try it." she said.
Jasiri knelt down and began to eat. Her eyes lit up.
"Wow, wow!" she grinned. "This is delicious! Who knew human food could be so tasty! Asante Aqua!"
Aqua smiled. "Of course."
Kiara approached Kairi. "Hey Kairi?"
The redhead looked back at her lioness friend. "Yes Kiara?" she asked.
"Out of curiosity, I overheard you talking to Sora and Mickey about something related to a… Princess of Heart." Kiara said. "What is that?"
"Oh, well, they are seven ladies with hearts of pure light, meaning they can't be corrupted by the darkness." Kairi answered. "And I'm actually one of them."
"Wow really?" Kiara asked in surprise. "That's pretty cool!"
"Yeah." Kairi nodded. She was silent for a few seconds. "Kiara I-"
She was cut off when her Gummiphone rang. Kairi looked at who was calling her. "Oh it's my dad, I gotta take this."
Kairi made her way through the crowd towards the back so she could talk to the Mayor of Destiny Islands in private,
Meanwhile, Kion was gazing out to the skies. He appeared to be lost in thought.
"Mind if I join you baby brother?" Kiara asked.
"Sure." Kion smiled.
The siblings looked out to the sky, seeing several of the worlds slowly pass them. Kion decided to break the silence.
"So…you and Kovu. Mind telling me how that happened?" Kion asked teasingly.
Kiara giggled. "It's a long story." she admitted. "Initially Dad didn't trust Kovu. You know, Zira and all. After Kovu bonded with me and some of the others, the both of us eventually found Upendi… thanks to Rafiki."
Kion chuckled. "Ah classic monkey." he said.
"Kovu found his inner light and joined us to stop Zira." Kiara went on. "And eventually the rest of her pride left her when she threatened to kill Vitani. After Zira was defeated, we were married."
"Huh… what a love story." Kion mused. He smiled. "Though, I'm glad it worked out and you two found each other in the end."
"Aw thanks little brother." Kiara smiled. She then smirked. "And how did you and Rani start getting close?"
Kion's cheeks went as red as his mane and tail tuft. "Well… we didn't exactly see eye to eye thanks to the venom around mine… but over time we grew to trust each other, we bonded, led our groups well to defend against Makucha and his army, and we grew close." Kion then chuckled. "I do remember this one moment during my healing…"
Flashback, some time after the Lion Guard and Makini came to the Tree of Life:
It was morning time and Rani walked out from the tree, yawning a little. She was conducting a short patrol and stopped to find Kion waiting by the river.
"Kion?" Rani called out.
Kion turns, surprised. "Rani?"
Kion and Rani stare at each other, both somewhat uncomfortable as their interactions since they've met have been…less than pleasant with Kion accidentally roaring at Balio and Rani giving him a bad attitude from day one and her recent outburst towards him in front of her grandmother, Queen Janna. Eventually, Kion broke the silence.
"W-what're you doing here?" Kion asked nervously.
"I'm just doing a morning patrol." Rani answered. "What about you? Shouldn't you be healing?"
Kion frowns. "I am…apparently. Nirmala has me standing in front of the river."
Rani walks over, confused. "Wait. This is your healing?"
"Apparently my first step towards healing has to do with patience. I'm supposed to wait for a log, ride it along the river, jump off to take that path up the cliff and take a flower at the edge over there."
Rani raises an eyebrow in confusion. "Wouldn't it be easier to just-"
"Swim across and climb up the cliff." Kion finished with a frown. "Already tried that, but Nirmala reached the flower when she took the longer path. She keeps saying stuff like 'the easiest path isn't always the best path' and everything."
Rani giggles "That sounds like Nirmala, alright."
"I still don't understand how waiting for a log will help heal my scar." Kion admitted.
"Nirmala says a lot of things that even I can't understand. But eventually, I do, and it always ends up helping. I'm sure it will help with your healing." Rani assured.
"I hope so." Said Kion
Rani lies on her belly, followed up by Kion. Since they're together they might as well talk, and Rani might as well get used to him if he's going to be here for a while.
"So how long have you been leader of the Night Pride, Rani?" Asked Kion
"Since I was a cub." Rani responded. "My mother and father were originally together in the Night Pride with my uncle Surak and Nirmala. It was led by my mother." Rani smiles fondly. "They were great parents. Balio and I loved them. They'd make as much time as they possibly could to spend with us, play with us, tell us stories and train us for the Night Pride." Kion worries when he sees sadness on Rani's face. "Then one day, when they were protecting the Tree from predators, they were badly injured. Too injured to heal. Nirmala and Grandmother Janna did all they could…but they didn't make it."
A tear leaks out of Rani's eye and Kion gives a look of sympathy.
"I'm so sorry, Rani," said Kion.
"Thank you, Kion." said Rani, wiping the tear away. "After our parents died, Balio and I became official members of the Night Pride, and I was made the leader. It became my job to protect the Tree of Life. It was…rough after our parents passed away." She smiles fondly again. "But grandmother kept supporting and encouraging me. She taught me everything I know about the tree, the Circle of Life and eventually I found the confidence to lead the Night Pride."
"Your grandmother is really amazing," said Kion.
"Yeah. She is." Rani smiled more. "She took care of me and Balio after we lost our parents. And she's been preparing to be Queen."
"So, you're next in line to rule over the Tree of Life?" Kion asked.
"Yes. I am." Rani then looks to Kion. "So, tell me Kion, how long have you been leader of the Lion Guard?" asked Rani
"Also, since I was a cub. It's also how long I've had the ability to do the roar." Kion answered.
"You've been able to use the roar as a cub!? That's incredible!" Rani exclaimed.
"Thanks. It was my duty to lead the Lion Guard in defending the Pride Land and the Circle of Life." Kion explained.
"Protecting the Circle of Life and the Pride Lands? Sounds like a big job." Rani commented.
"So does protecting the Tree of Life." Kion countered, smiling.
Rani laughed a little. "True that."
"Anyway, I first used the roar to save Bunga when he was cornered by a pack of hyenas. It was really…amazing." Kion explained, recounting the events of his first day as leader of the Lion Guard. "When Rafiki and my dad explained the roar and what the Lion Guard was about I knew I found my calling. The Lion Guard has always been made up of 5 members: The Fiercest, Bravest, Fastest, Strongest and Keenest of Sight. So, I recruited Bunga, Fuli, Beshte and Ono. Bunga's the Bravest, Fuli's the Fastest, Beshte's the Strongest, Ono's the Keenest of Sight and I'm…"
"The Fiercest." Rani finished.
"That's right." Said Kion. "We've been on a lot of adventures together. We've made a lot of friends along the way, especially this one lion named Sora."
"Sora?" Rani asked.
"A close friend of the family. You'd like him." Kion answered.
"It sounds like you've had quite an adventure, Kion. But judging from the name it sounds like the Lion Guard was meant to have 5 lions. You recruited a mixture of other animals instead of other lions?" Rani asked, perplexed.
"I didn't know at the time I had to recruit other lions." Kion admitted, but gave a sly smile "But, to be honest even if I had known I probably would've recruited Bunga, Ono, Fuli and Beshte anyway. I'm not really one for tradition, just so you know."
Rani can't help but laugh. "You're so funny. You remind me of my brother and my father.
"Well, you sorta remind me of my sister." Kion smiled, thinking about his sister.
"You have a sister?" Rani asked.
"Yeah. Her name's Kiara. She's my older sister. I think you'd like her. Like you're in line to be Queen of the Tree of Life, she's next in line to be Queen of the Pride Lands." Said Kion.
"That never bothered you, did it?" Rani asked, a little worried.
"Of course not." Kion answered. "I've never been interested in being King. Sure, Kiara tended to annoy me by bragging about being Future Queen, but really, I can't imagine anyone better for the job than my sister. And when the time comes for her, you can be sure I'll be there to support her whenever she needs it."
"You really care about her, don't you." Rani smiled.
"Yeah. I do. We may argue and get on each other's nerves from time to time, but…she's the only sibling I have." Kion looks up sadly. " I'm probably missing her first hunt right now just to get this scar healed. I hope she's doing okay. I really miss her."
Kion can't stop thinking about his last talk with Kiara and what he made her promise should he ever become evil. And to this day, he hopes it never comes down to that. Seeing the sadness in his face causes Rani to become worried.
"I hope I'm not being personal, but...how did you get your scar?" Rani regrets asking when she sees Kion looking down, depressed. "I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."
"No. It's okay, really." Kion assured. "You know…I've been hoping to talk about it with someone. Let's just say…that an evil lion from my dad's past was brought back as a spirit of fire. He was threatening to destroy the Pride Lands and the Circle of Life. It was our duty as the Lion Guard to stop him. It wasn't easy. It took assembling an entire army to fight back. When the Lion Guard and I arrived to face him…I got jumped by a snake called Ushari."
Rani gasps in horror. "You were bitten by a snake!?" Kion nods. "He did this to your face?"
"Yeah. He scarred my eye, and his venom made me off-balance. I was going to use the roar to put an end to our enemy…" Kion smiles. "But then I remembered advice given to me by my grandfather Mufasa, how I should never fight fire with fire. So instead of using the roar…I summoned the lions of the past to pass their judgment. You can imagine how that turned out. They sent down rain and our enemy was wiped out. I mean, literally wiped out."
"That's…amazing." Rani admitted. "I don't know who this enemy is…but you defeated him without the need for excessive violence. You saved your home with nothing but your kindness. You should be proud of yourself, Kion."
"Thanks." Kion frowns. "But…a war does come with consequences…as you've seen from me and Ono." Rani frowns with him. "Ono lost his eyesight saving Bunga and my scar…the venom from Ushari's bite is…
Kion is cut off by a sharp sting in his eye, causing him to bolt up. He cringes, growls and places a paw over it.
"Kion!" Rani shouted, getting up. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah! I'm fine! I'm fine..." Kion answered, calming down.
"It's your scar isn't it?" Rani asked. "It must be hurting so badly."
Kion looks down frowning. "The venom has been inside me ever since Ushari bite me. It's been killing my mind and my body and I'm struggling to know the difference between right or wrong."
"You're so strong Kion...to have resisted it for so long and retain who you are." Said Rani.
Kion shook his head. "I wouldn't go that far. It hasn't been easy. I've lost my temper a couple of times, yelled at my teammates, sometimes innocent animals and my roar has been doing more harm than good lately." said Kion, recounting his journey to the Tree of Life. "That's why I used it on your brother." Rani is taken aback by the look of regret in Kion's face. "I knew it wasn't right. And I know I shouldn't have done that…but the venom is causing me to make the wrong choices. I don't want to hurt anyone with my power, which is why I've come to the Tree of Life. This healing is my only hope...and if it doesn't work, I'm afraid I'll end up turning evil like..."
He couldn't say the name and Rani gives a sorrowful expression, placing a paw on his. Rani couldn't help but look into Kion's eyes. Whenever she stares at him she can see Kion is nowhere near as evil and dangerous as she made him out to be initially. When she looks into his eyes and thinks about his story, Rani can see Kion isn't evil at all. He's kind, brave and cares deeply for his friends and his people in the Pridelands. She saw that when he asked her to let just Ono into the Tree of Life to heal his eyes after being refused entry the first time. But right now…he feels lost, confused and has become afraid of himself and his own power…all because a snake bite him to send him down the wrong path. This realization causes her to feel guilt over her initial mistreatment of Kion and the bad attitude she's been giving him since coming into the Tree of Life.
"Kion...I'd like to apologize..." Rani said in guilt.
Kion is surprised. "Huh?! For what Rani?"
"For yesterday." Rani answered, looking up. "I'm sorry for my rudeness towards you lately and I'm sorry I didn't give you a chance to explain yourself when we first met. After getting to know you, I know you didn't mean to roar my brother away and I know you just wanted to help earlier. And…I am so sorry about my outburst yesterday. I was out of line. It wasn't right of me to jump to conclusions about you without even knowing you. I'm sorry I was so stubborn. Please forgive me."
Kion gives a warm and affectionate smile. "It's okay Rani, don't sweat it. You were just looking out for the animals of the Tree of Life, and it was my own fault for using the roar on your brother and leading Makucha here. I probably might've acted the same way if I were defending the Pride Lands and someone hurts my sister. You have nothing to apologize for."
Rani gives a smile of gratitude which Kion returns. "Thank you, Kion. I can see now how wrong I was about you. You're actually a good lion."
Before anything else could be said a log finally arrives much to Kion's joy.
"Finally! A log! It's about time!" Kion jumps onto the log.
But the moment he lands, Kion tripped up and hilariously fell into the water which Rani cringes at. He emerges from the water soaking wet and Rani can't help but burst out laughing hysterically, much to Kion's annoyance.
"Very funny." Said Kion.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I couldn't help it!" Rani replied, still laughing.
Kion gives a mischievous smile, swimming closer to Rani as she laughs. She gasps when Kion jumps out the water to wrap his paws around her. Rani shouts when Kion drags her into the water, both making a big splash. Kion emerges in laughter, followed by Rani who's now also soaking wet. She climbed back on the surface and stood away, shivering. When Kion came up next to her laughing, Rani smiled slyly.
Boy, have I missed that! I used to do this to Kiara all the time." Kion remembered.
"Did Kiara ever do this?" Rani casually shoves Kion back into the water and jumps after him.
Kion and Rani play together in the water, laughing and having fun. The two kept splashing each other and when Kion splashed Rani with more water she jumped at him, pinning him underwater with a chuckle until Kion emerged, pinning her back. The two laugh more as they tussle in the water which ended in them accidentally making lip contact for a few brief seconds. The two become embarrassed.
"Oh! Uh…!" Kion stammered.
"Ohmygosh! I'm sorry, I, uh…" Rani also stammered.
The two lions blush a little, sharing a romantic and awkward moment. The awkwardness is erased when Kion splashes Rani again.
"Hey!" Rani exclaimed, laughing and tackling Kion.
The two have more fun in the water, enjoying it together. Afterwards the two are back on the surface, drying off and still laughing a little.
"That was…fun. I really enjoyed that." Rani admitted, panting a little.
"You don't do something like this very often?" Said Kion.
The two lions shake off the remaining water before sharing a smile.
"I've…been so busy with leading the Night Pride and learning to be a queen that I've barely had any time to relax. This was so much fun. Thank you, Kion. I've really enjoyed getting to know you." Said Rani.
"I feel the same way, Rani." Said Kion.
The two share a smile, then they remember their accidental kiss which causes them to blush and sheepishly look away from each other.
"Well, I…uh…I'd better get back on patrol. Who knows when those predators might come back. I'll just leave you to your healing." Rani proceeds to walk away.
The mention of Makucha fills Kion with guilt again due to his role in luring him and his team here in the first place.
"Rani." Rani stops and turns. "Are you…sure you don't want our help with Makucha? The Lion Guard and I can really help you. You don't have to do it alone."
Rani walks back smiling. "Kion, I appreciate your offer. Really, I do. But we'll be fine. It's the Night Pride's duty to protect the Tree of Life, not the Lion Guard's. You need to focus more on your healing than worrying about our affairs."
"But I can't focus knowing that predators are invading the tree because I carelessly lead them here. We brought them to the Tree of Life; it should be our responsibility to make things right."
"I understand. I do. But remember what Grandmother Janna said. You need to help yourself before you can help others." Rani recalled. "Think of it this way Kion. You're worried that the venom from your scar is causing you to do more harm than good. You can't help anyone if it's going to keep hurting you in the middle of a fight or when you're trying to help someone. Don't take this the wrong way, but if your scar is hurting that much then you'll only end up in the way." Rani smiles kindly. "So, by helping yourself first, you'll be able to help others without anything holding you back."
Kion was amazed by the wisdom in Rani's words. After letting them sink in, he thinks back to his journey to the Tree of Life. While he's helped out as much as he could in saving animals on the way here there have been complications due to his venom causing his roar to go out of control and him to have mood swings that have hindered his fighting and impacted his relationship with his team. He realizes Rani's right; he can't help anyone in his current state. He needs to heal, then help.
"Wow…I…I hadn't thought of it like that before. I've been so wrapped up in wanting to help… I haven't considered how much I can actually help in my current state." Kion realized.
"Exactly." Said Rani, still smiling. "I mean, I'm sure you're more than capable in a fight even with the venom inside you but that won't matter if you can't think clearly. So, instead of worrying about us, you should focus more on your healing. The more you do that, the quicker your healing will go. And the faster you get healed, the faster you'll be able to help. Just remember what my grandmother said, let Nirmola guide you. I know she can be so confusing most of the time, but eventually I understand and I'm sure you will too."
Kion looks up, smiling back at Rani. "Ok, then. I'll focus more on my healing. Thanks Rani. You know, you're really smart. I think you'll make a great queen." Said Kion.
Rani blushes from this compliment. "Oh! Thank you. I hope to be. You know, if you were the firstborn of your family, I think you'd make a great king, Kion."
Now it's Kion's turn to blush. "Oh! Thanks. It's…the first time anyone's said that to me. But, really, I'm happy with my role in leading the Lion Guard."
The two of them blush, feeling a knot in their stomach, not realizing the feelings they're beginning to develop for each other from this one conversation.
"Well, I guess I'd better get back to my patrol. I wouldn't want to hold up your healing. Perhaps we can talk more later." Said Rani.
Kion smiled. "Yeah. I'd be glad to."
Rani smiles back. "Then I'll see you later."
Rani walks off, leaving Kion to continue with his therapy.
Present:
"Aw that's a nice little memory of the two of you." Kiara cooed.
Kion chuckled with a blush. "Thanks," he said. "I meant what I said, I think Rani will like you. And I think you like her too."
"I like her already," said Kiara.
Kion's fond smile then fell. Kiara grew concerned.
"Kion? What's wrong?" she asked.
Kion was silent. After studying him for a moment, Kiara realized what he was thinking.
"You wanna be with her? Don't you?" Kiara asked.
Kion sighed. "I care about her sis. And I know she cares about me too. We felt like we were of the same pride. Even if…" He sighed again. "Even if it means leaving you guys back at the Pride Lands. But I'm not really sure to be completely honest."
"Well… I think you should ask your heart what you want." Kiara said with a smile. "And whatever you choose, I know I will respect your decision. And so will your friends. And Mom and Dad."
Kion smiled. "Thanks sis." he said gratefully.
"Hakuna Matata Kion." Kiara smiled.
Both yelped when suddenly confetti popped around them and the song "Eye to Eye" by Powerline rang out, followed by a colorful disco ball coming down from the Gummiship roof.
"What the?" Ven exclaimed in surprise.
"Oh my goodness!" said Minnie, startled.
"What in the name of…?" Terra said in surprise.
"What in the Pride Lands?" Nala said in surprise.
"Whoa!" gasped Anga.
"Poa!" Beshte said in awe.
"It's so… colorful…" Pumbaa said, hypnotized by the disco ball.
"Okay, who pushed the party button?" Donald demanded, scanning the cockpit.
All eyes landed on Bunga. "What? It was so shiny!" he argued.
"Can't blame him." shrugged Cheezi as Janja rolled eyes.
"I'll turn it off," said Riku.
"No need!" said Ven. "We could use something lively right now."
"He does have a point." Naminé shrugged.
Eventually they reached the other side of the world. Mickey parked the ship and turned off the party button.
"Ok everybody! We made it!" he said.
Everyone perked up, especially Kion.
"Yes we're here!" Kion said happily.
"Out of curiosity, how come we didn't just beam right down like we did back in the Pride Lands?" asked Jasiri.
"It's easier when you're closer to where you wanna beam down away from witnesses," said Mickey.
"Especially compared to beaming right back up here to leave." added Oswald. "Now we got a better shot at arriving at the Tree of Life."
"So how do we wanna do this?" Sora asked. "Beam down to the tree itself?"
"I don't think that's a good idea," said Kion. "The animals living there might be scared if we do come out of the blue."
"Yeah! Kinda like when Kion came in out of the blue with the venom messing with his head and attacked the Night Pride!" said Bunga.
"Bunga!" Fuli and Anga scowled.
"What?" Bunga questioned.
"And then there was when I made a bad first impression with the penguins over a big misunderstanding." added Beshte.
"Ah yes, 'Poa the Destroyer'…" Anga murmured.
"Ok then. Then we'll simply beam down a good distance away." said Mickey. "Then we can walk in no problem."
"Not necessarily Mickey," said Rafiki. "No human has ever come close to the Tree of Life. It is among the reasons why you turn into animals whenever you step foot into our world. So 12 of you may give the Night Pride a bit of a fright if you walk right in."
"Ooh… yeah that could be bad." murmured Xion.
"So I guess we're back to animal forms for a little bit." sighed Lea. "And just when I fixed my back."
"Here's an idea; don't swing around the trees so much." Max said dryly.
"Thanks for the advice. I'll keep it memorized." Lea replied in an equally dry manner.
"Alright, is everyone ready?" asked Sora.
Humans, toons, and animals all nodded in unison.
"OK. Let's go." said Sora.
"Actually before you do!" Jiminy chimed in. "I thought you could use a little back up."
He reached into his jacket pockets and pulled out two summon charms. One was green with a deer hoof on it. The other was blue with two lighter blue dragon horns on it, one short and one tall.
"More summon charms?" asked Riku.
"Where did they come from?" Kairi asked.
"They were in the glove compartment!" Jiminy replied. "I also found this note."
He held out a note to Kairi who read it out loud.
"'Found the green one in Merlin's house and the blue one by our castle computer. Figured you would need them. -Leon.'"
"Oh that was nice of him!" Minnie smiled as Kairi and Riku eached pocketed a summon charm.
"Must've put them in before we left." said Ortensia.
"Who's Leon?" asked Timon.
"Oh is he a relative?" Ma guessed.
"Friend from Radiant Garden," said Sora. "Ok, we're in Park so let's head down!"
Without looking, Sora pressed a button.
"Thank you for pressing the self-destruct button."
Sora's eyes widened in horror, as did his friends who were used to the ship.
"What?! No! Override!" Sora cried, slamming his fist on another button.
"Thank you for pressing the ejection button. Remember to take a parachute with you."
Sora's face fell as he slumped in his seat.
Outside the Gummiship, Sora was launched into the air with his seat.
"Now you tell me!" he yelled as it fell towards the world. (1)
Everyone watched him go.
"Uh… will he be ok?" asked Beshte.
"Oh I'm sure he'll be fine!" Goofy said with a smile.
"Come on, we'd better follow him," said Mickey.
After overriding the self-destruct protocol, the king pressed some buttons.
"Prepare yourselves! We're heading for the Tree of Life!" said Donald.
Many of the animals cheered while the rest smiled.
"Good luck everyone!" said Jiminy.
"Thanks Jiminy!" Goofy said.
A flash of light transported everyone out of the Gummiship.
Jiminy looked out the front window towards the world. "Godspeed everyone… godspeed…" the cricket said quietly.
100 feet away from The Tree of Life:
A multitude of beams came down from the sky as Sora and Co. came down. The 20 Keybearers were now back in animal forms as well.
"Welp, we're African animals again." said Oswald.
"For now until we gain the trust of those at the tree," said Terra.
"Good thing Goofy helped us get the knack of it." said Roxas.
And then…
"...aaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Sora's seat landed with a thud and he fell out onto his face.
"Ouch…" he groaned.
Everyone winced.
"Are you ok Sora?" asked Nala.
Sora stumbled onto his feet. "I'm ok…" he said, dusting off his clothes.
He then pressed a button on the side of the chair and a beam of light took the chair away.
"Wow! Human stuff is awesome!" said Bunga.
"Wish I could use that kind of stuff," said Timon.
"Me too!" said Pumbaa.
"Heh! Maybe in another universe." Uncle Max snorted.
Donald summoned Mage's Staff in his talons and turned Sora back into a lion.
"Alright! Now we're in the proper forms… for now." Sora said.
"Alright, the tree is up ahead," said Ono. "Let's go!"
And everyone ran/flew off towards their destination.
Tree of Life:
Rani and Makini were talking with the other members of the Night Pride, including Rani's little brother Baliyo, their uncle Surak, and friend Nirmala.
Baliyo had dark brown fur with a creamy brown underbelly, muzzle and paws. His large hair tuft and tail tuft was a dark greyish-brown, with darker and lighter stripes running through it. Dotted around his legs were dark brown spots and there were three smaller spots under his eyes. His ear rims were black around the top and brown along the sides, and his inner ear was light pink, darker near the ear canal. He had pale yellow sclerae, with dark blue irises. His nose was large, pointed, and dark pink. Oddly enough, he had no whiskers.
Nirmala was an adult lioness with chestnut brown fur. She had blue eyes, a dark pink nose, a violet orange flower above her ear, and a dark brown stripe on her back similar to Rani's. She also had a darker brown snout and forehead. Her inner ears were pink, and the top of her ears were dark brown. She had a pair of light brown freckles on each side of her face., along with two large tan spots near her stomach.
Surak was an adult male lion with dark brown fur and a creamy brown underbelly, paws and muzzle. His mane was large and, like his tail tuft, had other, lighter stripes of fur running through it. The mane pointed upwards on the sides and near the bottom, where a tuft of fur stuck out from it. He had exceptionally large upper eye rims and eyebrows, small and thin eyes that were yellow with reddish-brownish irises. He also had black ear rims along the top of his ears and dark brown ones on the sides, while his inner ears are pink. He also had a brownish-red, pointed nose and black whiskers. He also had his claws on both front and back legs extended. Surak was also rather muscular and stocky, with large front limbs and thinner hind legs.
"So far all the animals are doing ok!" Makini said happily.
"That is a relief. Even when fighting those strange creatures, it was quite the challenge." said Surak.
"Yeah! And I thought dealing with Makucha, Mama Binturong, Chuluun, and Ora were hard to handle." said Baliyo.
"Well as long as we work together, everything is gonna be ok," said Nirmala.
"I hope so." Rani said with a frown. "These attacks have been much more stranger than when Makcuha and Mama Binturong led theirs. I feel like something is coming. Something big."
"Hey don't worry big sis. I'm sure we can handle anything that comes our way." assure Baliyo.
"Thanks little brother." smiled Rani.
Ullu, Rani's majordomo Indian scops-owl, was flying along in the air.
Ullu was white, with gray patterns along her chest, wings and head. She had light grey eyes, a small, dark gray beak, and two white feathers on each side of her head. Her talons were dark gray with black claws.
Then she spotted Sora, Simba, Kion, Kiara, and Co. coming towards the Tree of Life. She was surprised to see several familiar animals.
"Kion and the Lion Guard? And Azaad? And those two hyenas too? They're back already?" she said in surprise. "Hoo hoo! I'd better tell the queen."
Ullu flew down towards them.
"Hoo hoo! Your majesty! Your majesty!" she called.
"Ullu? What is it?" Rani asked.
"Kion and the Lion Guard have returned." Ullu reported.
The Night Pride was taken aback but Makini was excited.
"They're back?! Wow! They must have quite the stories to tell!" she said giddily.
"I'm surprised they're back so soon." Surak said. "The Pride Lands are quite the distance away."
"Maybe they solved that problem with Zira right away." suggested Baliyo.
"Hoo hoo. Maybe. But they also have a lot of animals with them." Ullu added.
Everyone was taken aback.
"A lot of animals?" Rani repeated. "How many?"
Ullu shrugged. "I lost count." she admitted. "But about half of them were lions."
"You think they're friends of Kion and the Lion Guard's?" asked Baliyo.
"We'll have to see for ourselves." Nirmala replied.
Back with the group, they approached the entrance between the Mountain Pass.
"So this is it?" asked Roxas.
"This is it alright." Ono nodded.
Anga used her vision and spotted the Night Pride.
"Queen Rani and her team are coming." she said.
"Ok. Let's approach this carefully." said Simba.
"NIGHT PRIDE!" Bunga said excitedly as he ran inside.
"Bunga!" the royal family and Lion Guard exclaimed.
"Ok, as carefully as a honey badger ready to party on the town." Lea deadpanned.
"Honestly, we should've seen it coming," said Oswald.
"I think it's cute." Kairi said in amusement.
Bunga ran up to the group and hugged Baliyo.
Baliyo chuckled. "Hey Bunga! You haven't changed a lot!" he said. He sniffed. "Though you still smell the same."
"I sure do!" Bunga said as he let go.
All the animals came in after Bunga.
"Kion!" Rani grinned.
"Rani!" Kion said excitedly.
The two immediately nuzzled each other.
"Aww!" Kiara, Nala, Tiifu, Zuri, Jasiri, Kairi, Xion, Naminé, Minnie, Daisy, and Ortensia cooed.
Both lions immediately blushed as they pulled away.
"I'm so happy you're back!" Rani said with a smile.
"GUYS!" Makini said happily as she hugged every single member from the Pride Lands.
"Hey Makini!" Beshte smiled.
"Nice to see my young apprentice again." Rafiki chuckled.
"Still full of energy as ever." mused Simba.
"Come on in everyone." Nirmala said politely.
The Night Pride led the group into their land. Those who had never been there before gazed in awe at their surroundings.
Various lands in the distance could be seen being connected to each other. A forest, a desert, a snowy mountain, all connected as one land. And in the center was a tall, wide tree that towered over everyone.
"Wow….!" everyone new said in awe.
"Look at this place…" breathed Myde.
"It's so big…" said Timon.
"So many different places…" said Kasi.
"And look at the tree!" said Max.
"It's so tall and large…" breathed Ortensia.
"It does look quite majestic," said Minnie.
"Thanks for the compliments." smiled Baliyo.
"So anyways, is everything alright in the Pride Lands now?" Rani asked.
"Yes. Everything's fine now." said Kion. "But there's something big going on."
"Something big? What is it?" Nirmala asked.
"It's kinda hard to explain," said Fuli. "Which is why we brought reinforcements all the way from home."
Simba, Nala, and Kiara stepped up.
"Greetings, Queen Rani." Simba said politely. "I am Simba. Kion's father."
"I'm Nala, Kion's mother," said Nala.
"And I'm Kiara. Kion's older sister." Kiara finished.
Rani gasped. "You're Kion's family?! The king, queen, and princess of the Pride Lands?!" she began to stammer. "O-Oh-Oh my g-g-goodness, t-this is so u-unexpected, I wasn't prepared for your-"
The three lions chuckled.
"It's perfectly fine Rani. There is no need to be formal." Nala said.
"Oh thank goodness…" Rani breathed in relief.
"Now then, I believe introductions are in order." said Simba, looking at everyone else.
"I already know who Jasiri, Janja, Azaad, and the rest of the Lion Guard are." Rani said.
"I'm Kovu. Kiara's husband." said Kovu.
"Vitani. Kovu's older sister." said Vitani.
"Zazu. I am the king's majordomo." said Zazu.
"I am Rafiki! Royal Majuzi and Makini's mentor." said Rafiki.
"Timon, Pumbaa." said Timon.
"Bunga's uncles and Simba's adoptive guardians!" Pumbaa added.
The Night Pride glanced at Simba in confusion.
"Long story…" Simba sighed.
"Oh! And these two here are my ma and Uncle Max." said Timon, wrapping his arms around his fellow meerkats.
"Hello your majesty." smiled Ma.
"Hey. Nice to meet ya." Uncle Max waved.
"I'm Tiffu. She's Zuri." said Tiifu.
"Kiara's besties." Zuri smirked.
"And we're Vitani's team." said Shabaha. "Shabaha's the name."
"Kasi's mine," said Kasi.
"Tazama's mine," said Tazama.
"And I'm Imara." finished Imara.
"We're Janja's crew!" said Cheezi.
"And Chungu!" said Chungu. "Ooh hey that rhymes!"
"Ugh, furrbrains…" Janja groaned.
"Wow, that's quite a team." Rani commented.
"And that's about half of you." added Nirmala.
"Oh yeah!" Kion nodded. "These are some of my other friends I told you about. Rani? Night Pride? Meet Sora and his friends Riku, Kairi, Donald, Goofy, and Mickey."
"Hey Night Pride! Nice to finally meet you." Sora smiled.
"Wow…" Rani said in surprise. "So you're Kion's mysterious and heroic friends…"
"Mysterious huh?" Riku asked in amusement. "That does sound about right."
"We're honored to meet the protectors of the Tree of Life." said Kairi.
"Any friend of the Lion Guard's is a friend or more of ours! A-hyuck!" said Goofy.
Sora was suddenly glomped in a hug by Makini.
"SORA! Oh my gosh it's been so long!" Makini squealed happily.
Sora laughed. "Good to see you Makini," he said.
Makini hugged the other animals she was familiar with. "Wow, the three of you looked like you haven't aged a day!" she said to Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. She turned to the others. "But you three look like you've really grown up."
"It has been some time since we've seen you Makini," said Kairi.
"Yeah, I like to believe I've grown myself." Makini chuckled as Rafiki approached her.
"Yes you have my young apprentice." he said. "Royal Majuzi to Queen Rani of the Tree of Life."
"Sorry that I'm not Kiara's…" apologized Makini. "I know that's the position I was being trained for."
"No worries at all young majuzi." Rafiki smiled. "You found your own path. And that's what's important."
Makini smiled in appreciation when she looked over at the other animals she didn't recognize. "Say, who are the rest of you? I recognize everyone else."
"Yes. Please, by all means, introduce yourselves." Nirmala said.
"I'm Minnie. Mickey's wife." said Minnie, nuzzling her husband.
"Daisy, Donald's soon-to-be-wife." Daisy said, snuggling her fiancé.
"I'm Max. Goofy's my pop." said Max.
"I'm Oswald. Mickey's my little brother." said Oswald.
"My name is Ortensia. Oswald's my husband." Ortensia said.
Makini blinked. "A hare and lion brothers? And a hare and feline couple?" she asked. Before anyone could say anything, Makini clasped her hands and her eyes became doe eyes. "THAT IS SO SWEET!"
Everyone chuckled.
"Anyways, I'm Ventus. Ven for short." Ven said.
"My name is Aqua." Aqua said.
"Terra." Terra said.
"Isa." Isa said.
"My name's Lea." Lea said, tapping his head. "Got it memorized?"
"Oh yeah! Sure do!" nodded Baliyo.
"Call me Myde." said Myde.
"My name is Roxas." Roxas said.
"I'm Naminé." Naminé said.
"And my name is Xion." Xion said.
"It's a pleasure to meet every single one of you." Rank said with a smile. "I'm sure Kion and the Lion Guard have already told you, my name is Rani. Queen of the Tree of Life. And we are the Night Pride."
"Name's Baliyo! Rani's little brother." Baliyo smiled.
Several animals blinked.
"Little brother?" asked Lea.
"But don't you tower over her? You're like twice her size!" exclaimed Timon.
"Timmy!" Ma scolded.
Rani and Baliyo chuckled. "Don't worry, we understand how that can be shocking," said Rani. "He just had a massive growth spurt, that's all."
"I am Surak. I am their uncle. Their father Sãhasí was my older brother." Surak said.
"And I'm Nirmala. The Healer of the Tree of Life." Nirmala said.
"And this is our scouting owl, Ullu." Rani added.
"Hoo-hoo. It's nice to meet you." Ullu said. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to check on the land."
And Ullu took to the air and flew off.
"She's a pretty majestic little bird." commented Naminé.
"Yeah that's Ullu alright." chuckled Rani. "So what brings… all of you here?"
"Indeed. None of you appear to be in any kind of distress." said Surak.
"Is this some sort of social visit?" Nirmala quizzed.
Everyone traded glances, unsure of how to say this.
"Well… you see your majesty, the thing is…" Mickey began.
"ALL OF OUR ENEMIES ARE COMING TO ATTACK!" Bunga shouted.
Everyone deadpanned at the honey badger.
"Way to let us approach that slowly, Bunga." deadpanned Jasiri.
The Night Pride were surprised.
"All of your enemies? What does that mean?" asked Baliyo.
"What Bunga means is that many enemies of the Pride Lands, Outlands, and out here in the Back Lands, have teamed up under the guise of our own enemies outside of this world," said Mickey.
"This world?" Nirmala asked. "You mean you're from other worlds?"
Everyone was taken aback.
"You know about the other worlds?" asked Riku.
"Of course we do." Surak nodded. "All of us that have protected the Tree of Life since its creation have known about them."
"Previous Night Prides, kings and queens, royal majuzis," Nirmala added.
"Among them including my late brother, his wife Ãnanda, and our mother Janna." Surak finished.
The Night Pride then went silent and hung their heads sadly.
Everyone felt bad for them.
"The Lion Guard told us what happened," said Kairi.
"We are so sorry for your losses," said Terra.
"Queen Janna sounded like a wonderful leader and mentor," said Nala.
"We wish we could've met her," said Ven.
"And Rani, your parents sounded like fantastic leaders too." added Zazu.
"You have our condolences." said Simba.
"Uh, did we bring any condolences?" asked Cheezi.
"Uh, I dunno. Are they a kind of fruit?" Chungu asked.
Janja face-pawed. He turned to the Night Pride. "Sorry 'bout those two. They're all fight but no brain." he said.
"It's fine." smiled Nirmala. "We ourselves have had many animals like them visit or live here."
"Yoru condolences are appreciated King Simba." Rani smiled. "So back on topic, all of your enemies are teaming up?"
"Yes." Jasiri said gravely. "Many hyenas who worshiped Scar when he became king."
"Ushari, the traitorous snake who brought our great-uncle's spiriti back and gave my brother that scar." scowled Kiara.
"Even Makucha, Mama Binturong, Chuluun, Ora, and their army who attacked the tree a while back." Kion finished.
"Along with our mother Zira, who we thought was dead." Kovu snarled.
The Night Pride were shocked.
"They're all coming here?!" exclaimed Rani.
"In less than 24 hours," said Isa.
"Which is why we're all here," said Rafiki. "Strong fighters from both the Pride Lands, Outlands, and even beyond our world gathered together to protect it."
"You have done so much for my son and his friends," said Simba. "And we know how much this place is a hospitality to many animals."
"And the power that the tree has done wonders for many." said Zazu.
"And any friends of the Royal Family are friends of ours too!" said Sora.
"Plus, it's our job to protect the world," said Naminé.
The Night Pride smiled in appreciation and respect.
"Wow… you all gathered together to help defend our home?" Baliyo asked.
"We know you can handle any threats that come your way." said Aqua.
"But trust us, some of these guys you haven't faced are pretty resilient," said Beshte.
"Especially our own enemies that don't live on this world." added Xion. "They are very bad news."
"Especially the ones on top." added Daisy.
"Well we are entirely thankful that you are here to help," said Nirmala.
"We have time before the attack," said Rani. "I suggest you all rest. Or if you want, get to know the land better."
"I'm gonna go find Binga!" said Bunga as he ran off.
"If I see those two together I'll make sure I'm not standing behind them," said Lea.
"Who would?" joked Max.
"It would be a good thing for us to warn the other animals too," said Fuli.
"Ah yes, make sure they're ready to defend themselves from any greedy predators." said Azaad.
With that, the Lion Guard ran/flew off.
"I am going to stretch my legs." said Azaad, running off in another direction.
"Hey sis, I think you should give them the tour." Baliyo suggested.
"I think I might just do that little brother." Rani smiled. She turned to the group. "Follow me everyone!"
"Gladly, your majesty." smiled Sora.
"Lead the way," said Roxas.
(Welcome to the Tree of Life from The Lion Guard plays)
Rani took them all around the land.
"As you can see, this land is home to all kinds of habitats around." she said.
"We can tell." Riku nodded.
Rani: Welcome to the Tree of Life
A wondrous mystic place
We're living life in harmony
It's what we all embrace
So, if you need healing
Shelter free of sorrow and strife
You will be welcome
Welcome to the Tree of Life
Desert, forest, tundra, plain
Are brought together here
So, animals from near and far
Live in peace and without fear
So, if you need healing
Shelter free of sorrow and strife
You will be welcome
Welcome to the Tree of Life
Respect for fellow animals
Is all you need to stay
(All you need to stay)
But, no one living here
Would want it any other way
So, if you need healing
Shelter free of sorrow and strife
Know you are welcome
Welcome to the Tree of Life
You know you are welcome
Welcome to the Tree… of Life!
Soon they were all back at the main tree.
"Wow! Your land is so beautiful!" said Kairi.
"And very eco-friendly." added Aqua.
"So many different types of land all coming together in one place!" said Minnie.
"And you guys protect the entire land?" asked Zuri.
"Sheesh, sounds like a lot of hard work." Timon commented.
"Oh it is Timon." Rani nodded. "And we usually protect it at night."
"Boy you would be exhausted by morning!" commented Pumbaa.
"On our rougher nights…" said Baliyo.
"So you're nocturnal?" asked Ortensia.
Nirmala chuckled. "You could say that." she said. "Here, come inside the tree itself."
The Night Pride and Makini led the whole group inside the tree. When they entered, they gazed around in amazement.
While it was dark on the inside, it was illuminated by many green-glowing mushrooms.
"Wow… look at the pretty glow!" commented Kairi.
"It's like a neon party in here…" said Myde.
"Don't know what 'neon' is, but thank you." said Baliyo.
They all gathered in the main den.
"This is quite the majestic area," said Simba.
"Is this where all the healing is done?" Jasiri asked.
"That is correct," said Nirmala. "The tree itself has mystical powers that can heal you. We used it for Ono's vision."
"And to help Mother, even when she was nearing her completion in the Circle of Life…" Surak said softly.
"Wow! We could fit the whole colony in here Ma!" Timon said, looking around.
"That is an interesting idea Timmy, but the queen and her group probably wouldn't approve." said Ma, looking at the glowing mushrooms.
"I dunno, it's nice and dark, the light is decent and not hot like the sun…" Uncle Max hummed.
"This is where we sleep after we patrol at night," said Rani.
"I am a bit curious, how come you guys only go out at night to patrol?" asked Imara.
"Yeah, are you nocturnal cats?" Shabaha asked.
"We sure are." Rani chuckled. "Aren't all lions?"
"Not our pride since the days of my great-grandfather Mohatu." Simba replied.
"Well, we do come out during the day when there's something going down or a special event." Rani said.
"No offense, but, that kinda leaves your enemies open to attack the tree and all the rare animals in broad daylight." Jasiri pointed out.
"Which is why we're always well rested and at the ready if they ever try to." Surak replied.
"Guess we'll have to see what time of the day it is when all those villains attack." Baliyo hummed.
"And we'll sure as hell be ready when they do." said Lea.
"Until then, why don't you explore the land by yourselves?" suggested Rani.
"Oh yeah! There is so much to see and do!" Makini nodded eagerly.
"It will be nice to see what has changed since the last time I was here." Rafiki hummed.
"Thank you Queen Rani." Simba smiled.
With that, everyone exited the tree.
Marsh Tree:
Bunga had been looking around for a certain someone.
"Come on, come on, come on, where are ya?" Bunga said, looking from side to side.
He spotted a familiar Darwin Fox and her leash. "Hey Astuto? You seen Binga?" he asked.
"Why yes." Astuto replied. "I saw her walk past looking for bugs. She should be to the left."
"Thanks!" Bunga waved as he walked on.
Then, he heard loud munching. Bunga looked farther down his left and spotted a honey badger. A honey badger he had been missing for some time.
She had purple fur and dark-purple fur on her chest, a lavender tuft and white fur on her back and tail. Like Bunga, she had dark blue eyes, a reddish-pink nose, and long tufts of white fur on her arms.
Bunga gasped and grinned excitedly. "BINGA!" he yelled.
Binga swallowed a grub and gasped. She looked back up and saw Bunga run up to her.
"BUNGA!" she cheered and wrapped her fellow honey badger in a hug. "This is bing-credible! I thought I'd never see you again!"
"Well I'm here!" Bunga said as he let her go. "I'm back to help fight bad guys!"
Binga was surprised. "Bad guys? You mean the Tree of Life is being attacked again?" she asked.
"Not yet. We got time." Bunga replied. "I just had to see you again Binga."
"Aw Bunga!" Binga cooed as she hugged him again.
"So this is the Binga you've told us about."
The honey badgers looked over to see Timon, Pumbaa, Ma, and Uncle Max walk up. It had been Timon who spoke.
"Wow! She looks like a girl version of Bunga!" Pumbaa commented.
"Correction! He's the male version of me." Binga joked.
Timon, Pumbaa, Bunga, and Ma laughed.
"I'm really glad you guys found us!" said Bunga. "This is Binga! Binga, this is my adopted family! My uncles Timon and Pumbaa who took me in, and Timon's ma and Uncle Max."
"Nice to finally meet Bunga's family." Binga greeted.
"The pleasure is all ours dear." smiled Ma.
"So Bunga tells us you're the better honey badger?" Uncle Max mused.
"Hey!" Bunga pouted as Binga giggled.
"It is true! I am stronger than him." said Binga, picking up Pumbaa, putting him on top of a boulder… and lifting them both at the same time with one hand!
"Whoa!" the meerkats said in surprise.
"Forgot how impressive that was." Bunga mused.
Binga set Pumbaa and the rock down. "You can say that again." the warthog said.
"I'm also the faster bug collector." Binga said, running around the forest and picked up a whole stack of bugs. She came back in no time at all. "Ta-da!"
"Wow she is fast!" said Ma.
"Very impressive!" said Timon as he and Bunga each grabbed a bug to eat and Pumbaa did likewise with his teeth.
"Quite the scrumptious bundle!" said Pumbaa.
Binga ate her stack of bugs. "I'm also more stinkier than Bunga."
"Please, no one's stinkier than him!" scoffed Timon before pausing. "Except Pumbaa."
"Yep! That's true!" Pumbaa nodded.
"Unfortunately." Uncle Max deadpanned.
Binga smirked. "Oh really? I bet you guys can't even handle this!"
From a distance, Lea, Isa, and Myde were by the lake with the shrews when a large gas cloud burst out from the forest.
"What the hell was that?" Lea asked in surprise.
Myde gasped. "Chernobyl is happening to the Tree of Life! I'M RUNNIN' FOR THE RIVER!" he yelled.
And the human-turned-meerkat ran away screaming.
"Wow. Your friend sure runs fast." commented Sasem the shrew.
"Is he always like that?" questioned Tsah.
"Some days are more exasperating than others." Isa drawled. He looked back at the forest. "I think Bunga found that Binga character he mentioned," he said.
Lea chuckled. "Yep. That sounds about right." He looked back too. "Probably smells right too."
"Perfect…" Isa deadpanned.
In the forest, the meerkats and Pumbaa coughed, gasped, and spluttered at the stench as Bunga chuckled.
"Told ya." Binga smirked.
"I missed you Bunga." Binga smiled, hugging Bunga once more. "You up for a snowball fight?"
"You bet I am!" Bunga grinned.
And the two scampered off.
The rest of the Lion Guard had been accompanied by friends and family as they looked around the habitats connected across the land.
In the Rocky Mountains, Kairi, Ven, Roxas, Donald, Daisy, Kiara, Kovu, and Fuli looked around at the rock towers and the mountains surrounding them.
"Those rocks look unstable yet sturdy at the same time." Daisy commented.
"Perfect for mountain goats to jump across," said Fuli. "Oh here they come now!"
And there came Cek, Rama, and their family and fellow mountain goats springing across.
"Hey it's Fuli of the lion Guard!" Cek called.
Rama bleated. "Nice to see you again!"
"Back at you guys!" said Fuli.
"Nice jumping!" said Kovu.
"You guys got good air and balance!" added Kiara.
The goats bleated in appreciation.
At the tundra, Terra, Xion, Aqua, Goofy, Max, Zazu, Beshte, Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu explored the Tundra.
"Boy it's freezing up here!" shivered Cheezi.
"Yeah! My paws are cold!" shivered Chungu.
"Snow will do that to ya." said Max.
"Relax furrbrians we'll be outta here soon!" said Janja.
"There's a polar bear!" said Xion, pointing with her paw.
Beshte looked over and spotted Tangaagim the polar bear. "Hey Tangaagim!" he called.
Tangaagim looked up and grinned. "Hey there Beshte! Long time no see!" he called.
They soon came near the penguins at their slide.
"Hey there Penguino!" Beshte called.
Penguino looked over. "Hey! Poa's returned!" he said excitedly. "Welcome back to our humble abode!"
The others blinked in confusion.
"Poa? Gawrsh, all this time I was calling him Beshte." Goofy said in confusion.
"You mean Beshte isn't his real name?" asked Chungu.
"No believe they're referring to his statement of calling something fascinating." Zazu replied. "Or, as Beshte would put it, 'Poa.' That is how they would say it in the serengeti."
"It's kinda like a nickname now." Beshte said. "And I find it pretty poa."
"Case and point." said Zazu.
"I see you made some new friends!" said Penguino. "And any friend of poa's is a friend of ours! Come! Try out our slide!"
Everyone looked over to an ice slide.
"Hey that looks fun! A-hyuck!" Goofy grinned.
"Come on, let's go check it out!" Xion said.
"I suppose we can give it a go." Terra shrugged.
"Oh it's pretty fun! Come on!" Beshte said.
Going up to the top of the ice slide, one by one the group slid down, shouting in excitement. Even Terra shouted happily as he slid down. Though Janja's was more out of fear. It did feel nice to relax once and a while.
In the Bamboo Woods, Mickey, Naminé, Azaad, Vitani, Kasi, Imara, Tazama, and Shabaha walked along the path.
"This is a pretty forest." Naminé commented.
"It does look like a good spot to relax." Vitani noted.
"I thought bamboo only grew in China." Tazama said.
"Well there's penguins in the snowy mountains and I hear they usually live in Antarctica." said Kasi.
"Hey there's some animals!" said Mickey, pointing with his paw.
Everyone looked and saw Heng Heng the panda munching on bamboo and Kely and his lemur troop relaxing under some other trees.
"Ah yes, I recall from Fuli that Rani helped them settle their disagreements over land and now they live peacefully together." said Azaad.
"You can say that again!" Kely called. "Heng Heng is a good friend to have around these parts."
"So are the lemurs." Heng Heng said in agreement. "They also respect the times when I eat bamboo: Morning, afternoon, and the middle of the night."
"That's pretty specific." Shabaha commented.
"Don't judge! Pandas have specific requirements." defended Kely.
"Good to know." chuckled Mickey.
Down in the Winter Woods, Sora, Riku, Aqua, Ono, Anga, and Jasiri walked/flew along.
"Wow! Kion was right. Snow really is pretty." Jasiri said in awe.
"You don't get much of this in the Outlands, do you?" Aqua asked.
Jasiri shook her head.
"Well seeing this beautiful place while not on a singing tour is pretty cool." said Sora. "Reminds me of Christmas Town."
"You celebrate Christmas too?" Ono asked in surprise.
"We do." Aqua nodded. "Though probably not the same way you do."
"Yeah Timon and Pumbaa told us how you celebrate it." said Sora. "Cute concept, though I think you guys would like the folklore itself."
"Just don't bring up Santa Clause." Riku snorted.
"Santa what?" Jasiri blinked.
"You mean Dandy Clause?" asked Ono.
"Hey there's some deer!" called Sora.
They looked and saw some deer prancing around the snow.
"Those aren't just any deer. They're musk deer." Ono corrected.
"Stronger legs, no antlers, the males have sharp fang-like teeth." said Anga.
"Common knowledge really." said Ono. "Hey Kiril!"
The leader of the musk deer looked up. "Hey Ono! Anga! Giving some new animals the tour?"
The brids nodded.
"Predators huh?" Kiril mused, looking at the animals. "Wanna meet fellow cats like you three? Varya's den is just 10 feet to the left."
"Thanks!" Ono called.
The group came towards the den and saw Varya playing with her cubs Pasha, Polina, and Feliks. She looked up. "Oh hello Ono! Giving a tour?"
"You bet!" Ono said.
"Wow! I've only seen tigers in pictures!" Sora said in awe.
"Not at the zoo?" Aqua asked, curious.
"Disney Town's zoo doesn't have tigers. Neither does the one on the island." Riku replied.
"Well aren't these three adorable?" Jasiri giggled, looking at the cubs.
Feliks, Polina, and Pasha giggled and roared softly as they played around in the snow.
"They remind me of Tunu and Wema back home." Jasiri said fondly.
"They are pretty cute." smiled Aqua.
Later on, evening was beginning to appear over the Tree of Life. Sensing this, the animals were all getting ready to sleep. Or in the Night Pride's case, go on patrol.
Kion came up to Rani outside the tree.
"Hey." she greeted.
"Hey." he greeted back. Kion sighed. "Rani? I-I'm sorry that we've brought more trouble to the Tree of Life."
Rani was taken aback. "Whaddya mean? More trouble?" she asked.
"I mean with all of our enemies teaming up all of a sudden and coming here to the Tree of Life." Kion answered. "Our enemies, Sora and his friends' enemies, all of them coming here to destroy the tree, wreck the land, claim all the rare and sick animals, and bring our world to darkness. Honestly I thought we saw the last of Makucka, Mama Binturong, and their army, and I was told Zira was gone. And I thought I saw Ushari die… but I guess not."
Rani smiled. "Kion, it's ok. I'm not gonna blame you for that." she said.
"Really?" Kion asked in surprise.
"Yeah. You had no way of knowing that this was gonna happen." she said. "And besides, you guys are willing to stand by our side and protect our home to stop them all. Just like last time. That's a true friend right there."
Kion smiled. "Thanks Rani." he said before standing up tall. "And you know what? I'm sure with all of us working together, we can save this whole place and everyone in it."
"I'm thinking that too." Rani said in agreement. "We'll stand strong together. With strength and respect."
"And defend until the end." Kion nodded. "And I know you will do great in fighting like the tough, brave queen that you are."
"Feeling's mutual thanks to a brave Lion Guard leader like you." Rani said. "That's what I like about you Kion… and I mean, really like about you… you're strong, brave, fearless, a great friend to the end… someone I'm glad to have gotten to know in my life."
Kion blushed. "W-Wow… t-thanks Rani… and y'know… I didn't really realize it until before I went back home but… I really like you too… a lot…"
Rani's eyes widened. "You do? You really mean that?"
Kion nodded. "Yeah… I mean, as the days went by during my time here… and we got to know each other a lot more…"
"Through all our bonding, working together, trust, all of it building up..." Rani added. "I think it helped me realize, believing we're of the same pride…"
"Means that we're…"
Kion and Rani looked into each other's eyes.
"In… Upendi…" they said in unison.
With smiles on their faces… the two lion nuzzled each other's necks.
"I love you Rani." Kion said sincerely.
"And I love you too Kion…" Rani said sincerely before pausing. "Oh right… y'know while I was finishing the tour I overheard Vitani and the others talk about how she and her fellow lionesses are the Lion Guard now. And I saw that you and your friends don't have the mark anymore. Why is that?"
"I gave up the role. And my friends did too." Kion said.
Rani was shocked. "What?! Why?!" she asked.
"Vitani and her Lion Guard proved themselves." Kion replied. "She didn't need the Roar to fight me in our Lion Guard contest to see who was better. That proved to me she was more than worthy to be my successor. Same thing with Shabaha, Kasi, Tazama, and Imara."
"Wow… that is very mature of you Kion." Rani mused. "But… what will you and your friends do now?"
Before Kion could reply, he yawned. Rani giggled as Kion blushed sheepishly.
"Nevermind. You can tell me tomorrow." she said. "Well, maybe after the battle. Get some rest. Me and the Night Pride will patrol and then sleep early for the battle coming ahead."
"Right." Kion nodded. "Night Queen Rani."
Rani smiled and nuzzled Kion. "Goodnight Kion."
And Kion went back to the tree den as Rani went to find her team.
A ways away, Sora and Kairi sat by Dirisha, the River of Patience. They looked down at their reflections.
"River of Patience… the spot where Kion first started his healing," said Sora. "Where Kion began his healing from that venom bite…"
"Well we're not waiting for a log to jump on." Kairi joked.
She and Sora chuckled. Then they went silent.
"Tomorrow sure is gonna be something…" Sora said.
"It may not be the Keyblade War, but it is one we have to do to protect the Tree of Life and this whole world from chaos." Kairi nodded. "We need to be prepared."
"And we will be," said Sora. "Although… something is telling me we should be in our regular forms for this one. Using more fighting techniques, more spells, forms, those summon charms."
"We may just have to do that." Kairi conceded. "Definitely before Zira, Ushari, Makucha, Mama Binturong, and their gang show up." She sighed. "The Night Pride will be in for quite the surprise."
"Hopefully they'll understand we weren't trying to scare them," Sora added. "I don't want them to feel betrayed like Kiara, Kion, and their friends were when we revealed our human and toon forms."
Kairi smiled. "Simba, Nala, Zazu, and Rafiki had our backs. And I'm sure all of them will too if they feel hurt. We'll help them understand why." she said. "If Rani's family knows about the other worlds then I'm sure they'll be able to piece it all together easily."
"Let's hope so." Sora nodded. "Well… we'd better get to sleep. Tomorrow's the big day. Not a Keyblade War, but still one we have to fight regardless."
The two islanders-turned-lions shared a neck nuzzle before they walked back inside the Tree of Life and began to go to sleep.
And not long afterwards, the Night Pride would return as well. The four lions would come inside the tree den and go to sleep.
The next morning, the animals all willing to fight gathered at the Tree of Life in front of the main entrance to the den.
"Is everyone here?" Rani asked.
"All 20 of us are accounted for." said Mickey, gesturing to his team.
"My family is all ready to go," said Simba. Nala, Kiara, Kovu, Vitani, and Kion nodded.
"And so are both Lion Guards," said Vitani.
"Makini and I are ready," said Rafiki.
"So am I despite my fears." said Zazu, rubbing his head with his wing.
"And I am ready to begin myself." Azaad said, stretching his leg.
"My family and I are ready!" said Timon as he, Ma, and Uncle Max stood on top of Pumbaa.
"The boys and I are too." said Jasiri. "And that's full confidence talking."
Janja nodded firmly as Cheezi and Chungu nodded crazily.
"Our claws are sharpened." said Zuri as she and Tiifu flexed them.
"Wait… where's Bunga?" asked Ono.
Everyone looked for the honey badger.
"Curious. Where did he go?" questioned Surak.
"He was just in the forest this morning!" said Pumbaa.
Daisy then spotted something. She flew up and saw two honey badgers run up. "There he is! Oh and he brought a friend!"
Everyone looked over to see Bunga and Binga run up. "Sorry we're late!" said Bunga. "Binga and I just needed to bug up a bit."
"You joining the fight too, Binga?" asked Ven.
"Sure am! No one comes into my home to invade it again!" Binga declared.
"The more the merrier! A-hyuck!" said Goofy.
"Do all the other animals that live here know what's going on?" Simba asked.
"Yes. I had Ullu inform them to stay hidden in case any bad guys try to look for them." Rani nodded.
"We will be the only ones doing any fighting around here," said Nirmala.
"Are you sure we can handle all these villains?" asked Baliyo.
"We all will if we fight together," said Aqua.
"And work as one big team all together." added Terra.
"I do like the odds we have right now," said Beshte. "After all, this team right here is pretty poa."
"You can say that again." chuckled Sora.
Then, Isa stepped up. "But before we do any fighting…" He turned to the Night Pride. "There is something you four," He paused and turned to Makini and Binga. "Yes you too … need to know about the twenty of us that aren't from this world."
The Night Pride, Makini, and Binga were taken aback. "Curious. What could that mean?" asked Surak.
"Yeah, you're not from around here. What's there to know?" asked Baliyo.
The Guardians of Light looked at each other as those from the Outlands and Pride Lands traded glances.
"We discussed doing this before the Night Pride came back from their patrol," said Riku. "And you guys deserve to see… what we really look like."
The lions, mandrill, and honey badger were confused.
"What are you talking about Riku?" asked Rani.
Oswald turned to Donald. "Donald? Do it."
Donald summoned Mage's Staff in his talons.
"Oh yeah! I remember you could do that!" said Makini.
The five were taken aback.
"Whoa! You can do magic!?!" gasped Baliyo.
"You didn't mention that!" Rani said in shock.
"That's because we wanted to approach you slowly with this Rani." explained Kion.
"And you're about to see why…" added Kiara.
"Ooh I'm gonna love this part!" Bunga said giddily.
Donald waved his staff and there was a bright flash that nearly blinded all the animals.
"GAH!" Rani and Baliyo shouted.
"My goodness!" Nirmala exclaimed.
"What in the Backlands?!" yelled Surak.
"My eyes!" yelled Rani.
When the flash ended, there stood Sora and his friends back in their human, mouse, duck, dog, rabbit, and cat forms.
"Finally! Back to normal!" Myde said in relief.
"I missed being in clothes…" Max sighed.
"Nice to be back on two feet." said Xion.
"You and me both, Xi." said Riku.
The Night Pride, Makini, and Binga gasped in shock.
"W-W-What?!" exclaimed Rani.
"What just happened?!" Baliyo asked.
"I have no idea…" said Surak, stunned.
"I-I I'm speechless!" was all Nirmala could say.
"Bing-credible…" breathed Binga.
"WHOA! YOU'RE ALL HUMAN AND OTHER ANIMALS?!" shouted Makini.
"Heh heh heh… surprise!" Sora weakly smiled.
"This is what we truly look like," said Aqua.
"Wow. Déjà vu already." commented Beshte.
"Gotta say, it was Un-Bunga-lieveable the first time… and it still is!" said Bunga.
"Little stinker speaks the truth," said Shabaha.
"Hold on a second…" Rani said slowly, looking at her fellow animals. "You all knew about this?!"
"Yes Rani we did." nodded Kiara.
"We found out about their true forms yesterday," said Kovu.
"It was a pretty big surprise for us all!" said Pumbaa.
"Well… almost all of us," said Zuri.
Simba nodded. "Yes. I knew since the first time our worlds fell to darkness. I assisted Sora, Donald, and Goofy a few times years ago."
"He would tell me after we were married," said Nala.
"And Rafiki and I always knew, being the king's majordomo and Royal Mijuzi." said Zazu.
"And I have known the longest," said Rafiki. "I am the oldest out of all of us."
"Our expressions were the same as yours!" joked Timon.
"Not the time, Timmy." Ma scolded.
"I dunno, the kid has a point." Uncle Max chuckled, but shut up at her stern look.
"Why didn't you tell us when you got here yesterday?" Surak questioned.
"Yeah we welcomed you into our home with open paws and trusted you!" snapped Baliyo.
"Easy little brother." Rani said calmly. "But he is right, why didn't you tell us?"
"We didn't want to lie to you, but we also didn't want to spook you," said Mickey.
"After all, when was the last time a human was seen at the Tree of Life?" asked Minnie.
The Night Pride pondered to themselves.
"That… is actually a good question," said Nirmala.
"Most likely long even before my late mother's birth," said Surak.
"Not even human tourists?" asked Lea.
"We aren't really close to mankind," Nirmala replied.
"Well either way, we didn't wanna feel like intruders since this place only takes care of animals," said Terra.
"Aren't… 8 of you animals?" asked Makini, counting.
"Sort of." Donald replied. "But we wanted to ease you into our real identities."
"But why the fake animals to begin with?" asked Rani.
"It's because of the order between worlds." Aqua replied. "It's supposed to be maintained. That's why we would blend in with those forms."
"Unfortunately our enemies have broken it over the past decade," said Ortensia. "Although we still try to maintain some semblance of it."
"That's also why none of us said anything," said Simba. "It was their choice to tell you all."
"We did feel what you felt, shock, confusion, and a little hurt," said Fuli. "But when they told us why, we understood."
"So do you guys understand?" asked Nala.
The six animals traded glances. Eventually, they nodded, easing everyone's minds.
"Of course we do," said Rani. "We get why you had to be secretive."
"This tree is almost like that." Makini added.
"And you were honest with us. And that is most helpful." said Surak.
"And to be honest, you guys look pretty cool this way." admitted Baliyo.
"Oh thank you." giggled Daisy.
Makini then gasped when she saw Isa. "Wait a second… Saïx?!"
Isa sighed. "Yes… and no Makini." he said.
Makini was confused. "Yes and no? Whaddya mean? And what are you doing here? Last time you were in Africa you tried to attack and kill us!"
"You what?!" exclaimed Rani.
"You tried to kill them?!" exclaimed Baliyo.
"It was all part of his cover!" Lea quickly said.
Surak narrowed his eyes. "Hmm. Curious. What cover?"
"He was stuck on the side of the bad guys twice. Both against his will." Ven said.
"And he became the Nobody Saïx." said Terra. "Several of us have been stuck in both Organizations our enemies are a part of."
"But the second time he was in control of his actions and played both sides as a double agent in order to help us." said Kairi.
"Including all the attacks in the Pride Lands the day King Simba was stung." Isa said. "Not something I wanted to do but I needed the Lion Guard and Sora and his friends to see who they were up against. I had to keep up appearances to fool the Organization."
"So wait… it was all just an act?" Makini asked.
"A very convincing act." Fuli replied.
"Yeah he got us all." said Ono.
"Isa's a good guy and our friend," said Max.
"And he's fought for the Pride Lands' safety numerous times." said Simba. "And I trust him."
"We all do." said Nala.
"And you guys can too." said Kiara.
"I used to be Scar's chosen one. And Vitani and our clan were just as bad." Kovu added.
"And me and my clan used to be bad guys too." said Janja.
"But we all changed for the better." said Vitani. "So… think you can trust him?"
The Night Pride looked at each other.
"Well if he's a good guy now, that's good enough for me!" Makini said brightly.
"I suppose we can trust you. You didn't attack us." nodded Rani.
Baliyo, Surak, Nirmala, and Binga nodded.
"Thank you." Isa said with gratitude. "And I am honored to fight alongside you all."
Suddenly, dark clouds began to roll in.
"Looks like it's starting now…" Riku said grimly.
"How do you know that?" Pumbaa asked, stroking his chin. "Are you sure it isn't a storm?"
"I can smell the darkness lurking. And it's coming near us." Riku replied.
"Ok. Everyone get ready." said Kion.
"Hold your ground." added Rani.
Everyone stood together as they waited.
Suddenly, the sound of hyena cackling could be heard echoing around the land.
"I recognize that kind of laugh…" Janja said nervously.
"They're here…" Daisy said eerily. (2)
At that moment, a large corridor of darkness opened 20 feet away from them. Out first came Shenzi, Banzai, Ed, and every single hyena from their clan, cackling like maniacs.
"Well well well Banzai, look what we have here!" Shenzi laughed.
"A whole bunch of goody-goodies!" chuckled Banzai. "Trying to protect what's ours for the taking!"
"Whaddya think Ed?" Shenzi asked.
Ed laughed hysterically.
Simba and Nala scowled, Sora, Donald, and Goofy glared, Timon, Pumbaa, Uncle Max, Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu shook nervously.
Once all the hyenas exited, Makucha and his leap, Chuluun, Ora and his bank, Mama Binurong, and Smun and his prickle.
"Ah… the Tree of Life!" Makucha grinned deviously.
"Good to be back here again…" Chuluun smirked.
"I can already taste the animals…" Ora said, licking his lips.
"I can already taste the Tuliza… and victory…" Mama Binturong said, rubbing her paws together wickedly.
"Yes mama yes!" Smun cheered.
The Lion Guard and Night Pride scowled, though the former's deepened when out of the corridor came Ushari.
"Hello Lion Guard! Royal Family! It's good to be back…" Ushari hissed.
"Why you lousy…" Bunga scowled as he attempted to attack Ushari, but Beshte held him back with his leg.
"Not yet Little B." he said.
Suddenly, Ansem, Xemnas, and Young Xehanort walked through as well, though they stood behind the group.
"Who are they?" Rani asked.
"3 of our most hated enemies…" said Roxas, glaring at Xemnas.
"Responsible for many suffering." said Riku, snarling at Ansem.
"They're wearing those black things like you four." Makini commented to Lea, Isa, Xion, and Myde.
And lastly, out from the corridor came Zira. She smirked as the animals made a path for her and she stood up front.
"There she is…" scowled Simba.
"The supposed dead lion, now leading this invasion." snarled Nala.
"We defeated her once, we can do it again…" said Ven.
Zira walked towards the front of the whole group.
"Why Simba, Nala, Kiara, Kion… the royal family brought back together at last." Zira grinned. "And I can see you all have expanded your little team into something very big… and yet underwhelming. Pathetic…"
"The only pathetic one here is you and every single one of your allies Zira." snarled Kovu.
"I'd hold your tongue ex-chosen one…" hissed Ushari. "That is the future Queen of the Pride Lands after all…"
"I still can't believe this literal traitorous snake is alive." snarled Fuli.
"Ah Lion Guard, Pride Landers, and the Keybearer." Ushari grinned. "Haven't seen you since the volcano…" He paused when he looked at Kion. "Ah Kion… I see you still display the little gift I gave you, much like your recently-scarred brother-in-law…"
"Ushari!" Kion growled.
"Still can't believe you're alive!" snapped Fuli.
"To think Pumbaa and I stood beside you at Kupatana…" Timon sneered.
"And I thought I finished you for good!" snarled Bunga.
Ushari hissed with a scowl. "Yes… I still remember the terror in my skin when you knocked me into that volcano." He then smirked. "Though I should thank Saïx, or Isa, for saving me."
Isa growled, clutching his fist.
"I don't get it, Ushari! Why do you hate us so much!?" demanded Kion. "And why side with them of all animals!? You were always neutral! But now-!"
"What did we do to make you despise us this much!?" Fuli growled.
"You really want to know why!? I'll tell you why." Ushari sneered. "Let me make it clear I have no hatred or resentment towards the Circle of Life! The only thing I hate is the Lion Guard. Time and time again whenever I was near you I was always stepped on and knocked around! Always! An endless cycle of pain and humiliation! And none of you ever apologized or considered me in the very slightest! The lack of respect was more than enough to turn me to the very side animals like Scar, Zira, Makucha, and more revealed in. Such power and strength suites me after all."
Everyone was surprised, especially the Lion Guard.
"Ushari look, I'm sorry we never respected you." said Kion.
"But this isn't the way to get what you want." Anga added.
"Oh but it is…" Ushari smirked. "All these animals here know about power and respect."
"The snake has a point." said Shenzi. "And we were more than happy to join sides to get the good life back around here!"
"Even after all the overhunting that caused our home to go to ruin, you want to go back to that kind of power?!" Nala snapped.
"Hey cool yourself queenie, they'll take good care of us." said Banzai. The three then looked at the hyenas siding with the light. "Well well well, look who else is here! Some of our descendants!"
"Wait, are you their kids?!" Bunga asked in shock.
"Not really." Janja replied. "My parents and the parents of my clan are long gone. But Shenzi was the one who picked me to be leader when they retired from the Outlands."
"And yet they decided to come back into the game…" Jasiri scowled.
"So the rumors were true!" Shenzi laughed. "Our descendants have sided with the so-called Circle of Life!"
"And here I thought we taught you all that it was bogus!" huffed Banzai.
Janja, Cheezi, Chungu, and Jasiri scowled.
"Well it wasn't!" snapped Janja. "You filled our heads with a bunch of malarkey and evil!"
"Yeah, the Circle of Life is cool!" said Cheezi.
"Especially when we help as the clean up crew!" added Chungu.
"And they actually learned how to respect the Circle of Life and how to get food more properly." Jasiri added. "All you cared about was stuffing your bellies like greedy slobs!"
"And don't forget, Scar tried to kill us!" Janja added.
Ed laughed crazily.
"Does he think that's funny?" Cheezi asked.
"Well considering that you're traitors to us all… yeah kinda." Banzai smirked.
"And soon we will be the last hyenas in all three lands standing." Shenzi added.
"And all of us will get our revenge!" added Makucha, looking around. "Man it's been quite some time since we've been here. I missed this place…"
"All the rare animals, rightfully ours for the taking." Ora growled.
"You got some nerve coming back here after what all of you tried to do to our home and the animals living here!" Rani scowled.
"And I thought we saw the last of you when Kion roared you away!" added Bunga.
"Well that couldn't keep us down forever." Chuluun smirked. "These guys helped heal us up."
"And now we have all the strength in numbers needed here to take on every single one of you, getting our much needed revenge, and the Tree of Life will be all ours!" Mama Binturong cackled, rubbing her paws together. "Ooh I can already taste such sweet victory."
"Sorry Mama Binturong, but that isn't happening." Aqua said firmly.
"Not as long as all of us are around," said Sora. "None of you will win!"
"Oh but I'm afraid we will be the victors here, Keyblade Master." Zira retorted.
"With all of us teamed up together, and the darkness by our side, we are basically unstoppable." Makucha added.
"We out number all of you!" said Shabaha.
"Yeah! I mean, look, there's so many of us!" said Zuri.
"And a lot of us have magic!" Donald smirked.
"That may be so, but we got a whole lotta creatures that outnumber my clan." smirked Shenzi.
"And they'll be here soon." added Ushari. "This here is just a prelude."
The evil animals then parted ways to let Young Xehanort, Xemnas, and Ansem walk up.
"We meet again heroes of the light…" Xemnas said.
"Uh, hasn't it only been a day?" asked Pumbaa.
"Not now Pumbaa." hissed Anga.
"You all have a lot of nerve to show up uninvited to the Tree of Life!" sneered Baliyo.
"Everyone here told us what you're attempting to do," said Nirmala. "And we will not let it happen."
"The tree will not fall to your evil!" said Surak.
"Not as long as we're around." said Rani. "All of us."
"Human, animal, or toon." added Kion.
"What do you all have to say to that?" asked Oswald.
Ansem chuckled. "Your confidence is amusing." he said. "But in the end, it will not save you."
"Especially since there are two more joining us here to claim the Tree of Life." added Young Xehanort.
The heroes were surprised.
"Two?" asked Lea.
"What two?" asked Myde.
"Who do you think, spiky boy?!"
Simba, Kovu, Vitani, Kion, Jasiri, Sora, Myde, Shabaha, Kasi, Imara, and Tazama gasped in surprise.
A corridor of darkness opened and the villains made a path. Nuka ran out as it closed behind him.
"Man I was waiting a while for that entrance," he said.
"NUKA?!" Kovu, Vitani, Sora, and Myde exclaimed in disbelief.
"How is this possible?! You died getting crushed by a log!" Simba said in shock.
"Yeah thanks a lot for that by the way!" Nuka scowled before smirking. "But these guys helped me. And guess what? I'M the chosen one now! Something you failed to accomplish Kovu, you little termite! And guess what Vitani, you got passed over again! And by ME!" Nuka laughed.
Kovu and Vitani scowled.
"So even after your death in this pathetic war, you still side with Zira?" asked Vitani.
"I saw the true potential Nuka had after all this time." Zira replied.
"When you get past the termites and idiocy he displays, he can be quite the fighter." said Ushari.
"He did come close to killing you Simba." Shenzi added as Ed cackled.
Simba scowled.
"So you see everyone? We do have the better advantage against you all!" Zira grinned.
"Enough! Zira, stand down right now! Even if you end up killing Simba, let alone the rest of us, without me, there will be no one to rule over the Pride Lands". Kovu yelled.
Zira scowled… and then began to cackle wickedly, much to the heroes' confusion.
"Ok…" Sora said in confusion.
"That's… disturbing." Ono murmured.
"What's so funny?" demanded Terra.
Zira calmed down. "I'm sorry, I'm just laughing at the sheer irony of what my former son just said. You see at the time, I needed Kovu to complete my goals and when you guys defeated me earlier, I thought it would now be impossible to take over the Pride Lands. But now, victory is guaranteed, because thanks to Xehanort and his Organization, the true king has finally returned to us."
Simba growled in anger. "What do you mean by that Zira?!" he snarled.
Zira and the villains just smirked. After another few seconds, everyone began to hear someone laughing as they answered Simba's question.
"Ah Simba, Simba, Simba, as I always say, you are always so naive."
The blood inside Simba, Kion, Nala, Kiara, Kovu, Vitani, Sora, Donald, Goofy, Bunga, Fuli, Ono, Beshte, Makini, Zazu, Timon, Pumbaa, Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu went dreadfully cold as they paled, white as the snow in the mountains. Everyone else aside from the Night Pride froze in shock.
"No…" Simba gasped.
"It-It-It couldn't be…" Rafiki said, uncharacteristically in immense shock.
"That's impossible!" cried Nala.
"N-No way…" Sora stuttered.
"Who was that?" Baliyo asked.
"Never heard that voice before," said Surak.
"Oh you haven't?" Ushari mocked. "Well you're about to get your answer."
"Say hello to the true King of the Pride Lands." Makucha grinned.
The villains moved to the side… as a familiar lion walked up to them all out of another corridor of darkness, making them gasp in utter shock and horror.
"What's the matter, Simba? Didn't you miss your own uncle?" Scar asked in a mocking tone.
"SCAR?!" everyone who knew him screamed.
Those who had never met Scar or only heard the stories gasped.
"Yes… I. Am. Scar…" the villainous lion smirked.
"No… NO! IT CAN'T BE!" Simba yelled.
"You're dead!" Nala cried.
"And I banished your spirit!" cried Kion.
"How the hell are you even alive?! You fell to the darkness!" yelled Sora.
"You're supposed to be DEAD!" yelled Riku.
Scar chuckled. "I was dead… until Master Xehanort and his vessels and other cohorts brought me back. They all had done the same with Nuka after he tragically perished."
"My future self saw potential in Scar, thanks to the darkness in his heart. He didn't need snake venom for it to happen. Tragically he had fallen far too deep into the darkness before four of you fought him to the death." Young Xehanort said. "Leftover mane hair hidden deep in the land around Pride Rock was collected by Black Heron. And with the combined magic of Maleficent, Magica De Spell, and Lord Felldrake, we were able to restore both Scar and Nuka back to life."
"And boy does Scar have several bones to pick with so many of you…" Ushari grinned deviously.
Everyone tried to shake off the shock, still in utter disbelief that the most dangerous lion of Pride Lands' past was alive and among them.
"You… you cannot be here… after all you've done to our home, both when you were alive, a ghost, and a fiery spirit… you should not be here!" Simba snapped.
"Oh but I am Simba." Scar smirked. "I am standing here before you. You should realize that you can't be rid of me forever…"
"Well I wish we were rid of you!" Nala sneered. "After all the trouble you caused to many of us…"
"But of course, you refuse to learn." Rafiki said with a glare.
"Even getting your comeuppance handed to you three times wasn't enough! You're still trying to take over the Pride Lands! You really haven't learned anything, not when you were alive, not as a Heartless, not as a fire ghost in a volcano, you haven't learned anything!" exclaimed Sora.
Scar glared at Sora. "Oh but that is where you are wrong, human. You see I have learned. True power, I can't achieve by myself. I have to have the right allies by my side in order to achieve it. And look before yourselves… I truly do have it now…"
"Y-Yeah, w-well, your original army was there for you!" Janja tried to say. "But then you tried to kill me and my clan!"
"Because you went soft!" Scar snapped, making Janja yelp. "You began to question your allegiance, something I didn't want or need in my army back when my spirit resided in the volcano. And because of that, it all fell apart."
"Well it was a good thing he did!" snarled Kiara. "And now the Outlanders are at peace with the Pride Lands because they're under a proper ruler!"
"Something I try to be, better than you ever were." Jasiri growled.
The hyenas laughed. "Oh that's a good one!" cackled Banzai.
"You were never a good leader, not to the Pride Lands or the Outlands." growled Vitani. "Especially to your fellow lions!"
Scar chuckled. "Oh come now Vitani, I helped your mother train you and your siblings to be the perfect fighters for our pride-"
"You were never part of our pride!" Kovu snapped, growling. "You and Zira, all you ever cared about was power and domination… and turning us into killers, especially me!"
"Oh Kovu, my original chosen successor, that helped you become the ultimate lion and true future king." Scar said with a faux-soft smile.
Kovu roared loudly. "ENOUGH! I never wanted to be your 'chosen one'! Because of your influence, I was almost a complete bad guy!" he yelled. "Every day I am happy that I am not like you at all! I'm never gonna be your successor. And even if I do become king, it won't be by killing Simba and his family and friends. Like I told Zira… I want nothing more TO DO WITH YOU!"
Scar growled. "And that is why you and Vitani are no longer part of our pride. You, your pathetic excuse of a Lion Guard, and all the other Outsiders." He then looked at Kion. "So… you really didn't become like me after all… such a shame Kion, you and potential as well. The power of that roar used to dominate everything, getting rid of those in your way and holding you back… and yet, you chose to obey that pathetic Circle of Life."
Kion glared hard at his great-uncle. "Let me make it clear and obvious to you Scar, I will never be like you. What happened to you was your own fault. Your heart was clouded by darkness, jealousy, and greed. And I will never let your influence ever wreck the Circle of Life again, not here, not back home, not anywhere! If I can overcome any darkness, whether it's by snake venom or plaguing my heart, then I will overcome you again!"
"Oh we will see about that, won't we Kion…" Scar said. He paused when he looked at Isa. "Ah.. Isa. Or should I say Saïx? Such a shame you were revealed to be a traitor amongst the Organization and their allies… I thought you were a good one to me as well… but of course, you played us like fools." he said with a dark frown.
Isa snarled, clutching his fist. "I was never on your side Scar… even with a piece of Xehanrot's heart within mine, I was very well in control of myself."
"Hey, it's kinda like the opposite with you when you got bitten!" Bunga commented.
"Bunga!" Kion, Fuli, Ono, and Anga exclaimed.
"No… Bunga is correct." Isa said, smirking a little at Scar. "Just goes to show who can be more powerful when evil tries to plague their mind. Even Kion overcame it."
Scar growled. "Either way, you will die for your treachery." he sneered.
Isa glared. "I've faced worse adversaries than you, Scar… no matter what you say, you do not scare me."
Scar growled, but at Zira, Nuka, Ushari, Makucha, and Mama Binturong's looks, he smirked wickedly.
Ansem, Xemnas, and Young Xehanort then walked to the front of the villains.
"We have also come to offer you something else. There may very yet be a way you can all get out of this unscathed." said Ansem.
The heroes traded surprised glances.
"There is?" Beshte asked.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Xion asked, skeptical.
"You have two options." Xemnas said. "Either you continue with this war and fight this army led by Scar, allowing it to end in a bloody manner…"
"Or we could forget about this war, allow these animals to rule all three lands, and no one has to perish." said Ansem. "And… you surrender the new Princess of Heart."
Sora and his team's eyes widened as the Pride Landers, Outlanders, and Back Landers traded glances.
"New Princess of Heart?" asked Anga.
"Who would that be?" asked Azaad.
Young Xehanort pointed at Kiara, much to hers' and her family's surprise.
"Me?" Kiara asked in surprise.
"My sister's a Princess of Heart?!" gasped Kion.
"I thought those guys were all human!" said Bunga.
"You are incorrect." Young Xehanort said. "Kiara's name means 'bright.' And her heart is as pure as Kairi's over here. Pure enough to see Kovu for the good lion he is, pure enough for hope that her brother would overcome the evil flowing within him, and pure enough to unite two prides together as one."
"It doesn't matter which species they are, so long as the Princesses of Light's hearts are pure." said Ansem. "And Kiara's is a prime example like Kairi and those from before."
"Did you guys know about this?" Kiara asked the worldly-travelers.
"We figured it out thanks to Kairi." admitted Roxas. "But we didn't say anything because Kion and his friends returned…"
"The Lion Guards fought…" added Sora.
"And all of this." finished Lea, gesturing to the villains. "Got it memorized?"
"Yeah… I can see that." said Fuli.
"So what's it going to be… the princess… or a massacre to everyone here in war?" asked Xemnas. "Including your kingdom, which you were sworn to protect like your father and the great kings of the past…"
The heroes traded glances.
"You may want to choose very carefully." Ushari smirked.
"Especially you, Simba and Nala." Makucha added. "This is your daughter we're talking about."
"Will it be her or your multiple lands filled with innocent animals that outnumber her?" asked Mama Binturong.
Simba suddenly stood forward. "I have our answer," he said.
"Dad?" Kion asked in surprise.
"Daddy?" Kiara asked.
"Simba?" Nala asked suspiciously.
"Trust me." Simba said firmly. "I want to say it… but I can't…"
Sora walked over and pulled out a piece of paper and pencil. "I can put it in writing… if it's ok with you." he said.
"Thank you." Simba nodded.
Sora knelt down as Simba whispered. Sora wrote it down and folded it in two. He handed it to Young Xehanort who smirked as he took it. Ansem and Xemnas stood beside him as he unfolded it to reveal the words…
"IN YOUR DREAMS MOTHERFUCKERS!"
The three Organization members glowered at the note. (3)
"What is-" Young Xehanort began when…
POW!
Sora had run over and side-kicked Young Xehanort. He flew back and landed against the grass and dirt as the villains scattered away from the impact in surprise.
Ansem and Xemnas ran over and helped him up as Sora returned to his friends.
"If you think we're gonna surrender any member of our family or friends or kingdom to you, then you are wrong!" Simba snarled.
Nala, Kiara, and Kion smiled at Simba.
"He's right! We would never give up any of our own to any of you for that!" said Kairi.
"You guys are really dumb if you think we're gonna give up like that!" said Riku.
"We're taking a third option!" said Sora, summoning Kingdom Key. "We fight all of you until you get the hell outta here!"
"And leave the Pride Lands, Outlands, and the Tree of Life alone. For good!" said Kion.
Young Xehanort dusted himself off and glared. "Very well then. You have chosen the path leading to all of your demise." he said before smirking. "And Scar here can show you how. For he has been blessed with a gift courtesy of all of us."
"Gift? What gift?" asked Terra.
"Yeah it ain't Christmas time!" said Timon. He paused. "Is it?"
"Uh… no I don't think so." Pumbaa replied, unsure.
"Allow me to demonstrate." Scar smirked.
"Oh this is gonna be great!" Nuka grinned.
"Make way everyone for the demonstration!" Shenzi called.
The animals siding with the darkness parted to the side as Scar walked forward facing the Mountain Pass.
The dark clouds began to rumble and change form as everyone looked up nervously.
"You all hear that too… right?" asked Uncle Max.
"We do Max… and I don't like it." said Max.
"Gawrsh, what's happening?" asked Goofy nervously.
"Just watch." Ushari smirked.
Scar focused hard. And then…
ROOOAAAAAARRR!
Scar used his roar as the clouds took the form of multiple faces each resembling Scar and they roared out alongside him.
The roar destroyed the Mountain Pass, creating an avalanche in the process sealing the exit.
The heroes' jaws dropped in shock and horror as Scar returned to them.
"That… is the gift." Scar said with an evil grin.
"No way…!" Sora gasped.
"Hevi Kabisa!" Kion and Vitani gasped.
"Hapana!" cried Ono.
"What the hell?!" exclaimed Lea.
"Oh quakers!" gasped Daisy.
"Did he just-did he-I don't-what?!" Myde stammered in fight,
"Impossible…" Rafiki said in shock.
"Was that the Roar of the Elders?!" exclaimed Baliyo.
"Yes… yes it was…" Scar smirked.
"That can't be possible!" said Simba.
"You lost the roar when you used it on your own Lion Guard!" cried Makini.
"Ah yes young mandrill… but you see, it is not the Roar of the Elders…" Scar grinned. "It was my own special version of it, created for me, and me alone."
"So you see? None of you stand a chance against us now!" Zira smirked.
"It all ends here!" Ushari hissed.
"And it will be with us as the winners this time!" Makucha grinned.
"The Tree of Life and your lands will be ours! All ours!" Mama said, pumping her fists.
"So… you all think you have a chance?" quizzed Ora.
"Or are you ready to surrender to the ones who are gonna dominate you all to the end!?" Chuluun roared.
Ed laughed like crazy.
"What he said!" Shenzi and Banzai said together.
The heroes were all silent… until Sora stepped forward.
"I say… let's do this!" Sora yelled.
Those by his side all sounded off in agreement. The animals got into fighting positions. Riku summoned Braveheart, Kairi summoned Destiny's Embrace, Aqua summoned Brightcrest, Ven summoned Void Gear, Terra summoned Chaos Ripper, Roxas summoned Oathkeeper/Oblivion, Lea summoned Flame Liberator, Xion summoned Omega Weapon, Naminé summoned Shooting Star, Isa summoned Blue Moon, Myde summoned Mystic Water, Mickey summoned Kingdom Key W, Donald summoned Centurion and Unbound, Goofy summoned Adamant Shield and Royal Radiance, Minnie summoned Starlight, Daisy summoned Spellbinder, Max summoned Fenrir, Oswald summoned Classic Tone, and Ortensia summoned Zero/One.
"Whoa, you two have Keyblades too?!" Simba asked Donald and Goofy in surprise.
"We sure do! And we're masters!" said Donald.
"It was a happy accident! A-hyuck!" grinned Goofy.
"Very well then…" Xemnas, Ansem, and Young Xehanort said in unison as they floated into the air above the land.
Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed suddenly appeared.
Among the Heartless were Neoshadows, Rapid Thrusters, Power Wilds, Silver Rocks, and Margoles.
Among the Nobodies were Dusks, Sorcerrors, Dancers, and Ninjas.
And among the Unversed were Red Hot Chilis, Wild Bruisers, Mandrakes, and Spiked Turtletoads.
"'Till the Pride Lands end..." Kion started, running ahead.
"Lion Guard Defend!" the original Lion Guard chanted together and followed their leader.
"With Strength and Respect..." Rani started, running ahead.
"Night Pride Protect!" the Night Pride chanted together and followed their leader.
"Hey Sora, you should try one!" said Ven.
"Wait, what?" Sora asked, taken aback.
"Go on, give it a try buddy!" said Oswald.
"Yeah, lead us with one too!" said Naminé.
"Uh...with Keyblades, magic and...uh..." Sora groaned, unable to come up with something. "Oh, screw this! Guardians! GO!" Sora shouted, running ahead while the Guardians of Light exchanged looks.
"Okay, unoriginal but also a classic." Lea judged.
"He gets points for alliteration at the very least." Minnie pointed out.
Kairi giggled. "Oh, Sora."
"You heard the man." said Riku.
"GO!" the Guardians of Light shouted together and followed their leader.
Shouting loudly, both sides ran towards each other to fight.
It was another war, but bigger. And it was gonna get serious.
To be continued…
