Chapter 19

Vaggie walked down the streets, one destination in mind as she felt tears run down her face. No one bothered her as she continued on her path, soon finding a large palace and taking a deep breath as she went up and rang the doorbell.

A moment later, Lucifer answered the door and he was surprised to see it was Vaggie. "Vaggie," he said and noticed she had been crying. "What's wrong? Is Charlie hurt?" He asked.

The girl looked up at him. "I screwed up," she said, falling to her knees as she cried.

To her surprise, the white-suited being picked her up and held her protectively. "Oh, I'm sure you didn't screw up, my cinnamon apple," he said with a smile.

"But I did," she said. "And...I don't know if Charlie will ever talk to me again."

"Oh," he said as he began to understand that the two must have had a fight. "Did you...disagree on dinner? Or maybe an outfit?"

She shook her head. "No," she said. "Not a disagreement."

Lucifer blinked. "Okay then," he said. "What happened that you feel Charlie won't speak to you again?"

More tears filled Vaggie's eyes and she began sobbing again. Lucifer felt sympathy for her as he hugged her and carried her inside the mansion. He wasn't sure what to say and was wondering who to call when a portal appeared and he saw Ozzy, Fizz, and Oliver walk through it. "Oh, Ozzy, you're just in time," Lucifer said in relief.

The rooster being blinked before seeing the girl in Lucifer's arms. "What happened?" He asked.

"This is Vaggie, someone who cares deeply for our Charlie," Lucifer said. "She came here and was crying."

"Is she hurt?" Fizz asked in concern and Oliver looked worried.

"She told me she fears that Charlie won't speak to her again, but hasn't said why."

"Let me see her," Ozzy requested and Lucifer carefully placed the girl into the larger being's arms and the rooster being at once began humming softly, holding the girl protectively as if she was his own daughter.

Fizz smiled as he watched this, knowing from experience how good Ozzy was at comforting others. Lucifer also smiled, relieved when he heard Vaggie's sobs start to fade. "Okay, let's all sit down and have something to eat and drink," he said. "Then we can help Vaggie with whatever's bugging her."

"Sounds good to me," Ozzy said and Fizz nodded.

Vaggie looked up to see she was being held by the rooster being and she gasped, but he smiled gently at her. "Easy, hon," he said soothingly. "I'm not going to hurt you."

She felt him gently wipe away her tears and she was stunned before she realized he had to be Ozzy. Charlie had often spoke fondly of him as her uncle and had told Vaggie that despite being powerful, Ozzy was a gentle giant. She watched the jester come over and he gently took her hands. "Hey, Angel Eyes," he said.

Vaggie gasped and stiffened in Ozzy's arms. "How do you know that?" She asked, fear in her voice.

"Know what?" He asked, looking confused.

Ozzy looked at her and then realization hit him like a truck. "Vaggie...were you...an angel once?" He asked.

"She was an enemy?" Oliver signed, looking hesitant, but also sympathetic as he saw the girl was a bit afraid and still had tears in her eyes.

Lucifer grew curious. "I don't recall her being an angel," he admitted.

Vaggie began trembling, to which Ozzy hugged her comfortingly. "Hon, it's okay," he soothed gently.

"Please," she pleaded softly, her voice full of fear.

Fizz gently leaned closer so that his mouth was near Vaggie's ear. "Vaggie, take a deep breath and tell us the first thing you see," he said.

She managed to take the deep breath and opened her eye, the bell on the end of the left tail of Fizz's jester cap catching her eye. "A bell," she said.

Smiling, Fizz took her hand and guided it to touch the bell on the end of his cap, the bell jingling sweetly. Ozzy smiled as he saw Vaggie was slowly calming down and Lucifer smiled, going up and placing a fatherly kiss on Vaggie's forehead. "It's alright, my cinnamon apple," he said.

Ozzy chuckled, smiling down at the girl in his arms. "Well, that settles it," he said. "Whatever's bugging you, you can tell us. Because no matter what, you've got our support, especially with Lucifer considering you to be family."

Oliver gently tugged his papa's hand, making the jester turn to him as the boy began signing. "Is she like cousin Charlie?" He asked.

"Yes, she is," Fizz replied, ruffling his son's hair. "Her name is Vaggie. Don't worry, she won't hurt you."

Vaggie watched them before she looked at the white-suited man, who smiled. "Come on, kiddo," he said. "It can't be that bad. Whatever happened between you and Charlie surely is patchable."

She sighed and Fizz looked concerned. "Vaggie, we won't get mad and we're not going to judge," he said. "You can tell us."

"I'm sure we've heard much worse," Ozzy said.

She looked at them and took a deep breath. "I was once part of the enemy," she said.

A silence filled the room. "Okay, was not expecting that," Lucifer said.

Vaggie winced, looking afraid. "But I'm not anymore. I haven't been for a long time," she said before her hand went over her missing eye.

"Was there...an accident and they left you behind?" Fizz asked, wondering if Vaggie's story was much like his own.

She shook her head. "It wasn't an accident," she said softly. "I...I did something the others didn't agree with."

"What did you do?" Ozzy asked curiously.

Vaggie looked at them. "I spared a child's life," she said. "And...I was punished for it."

"You spared a kid like me?" Oliver asked.

"Oliver asked if you spared a kid like him," Fizz translated.

"Yes," she said softly.

Lucifer looked saddened and hugged Vaggie, who clung to him. "I'm guessing you didn't tell Charlie because you're not proud of your past," he said.

"No, I'm not," she said. "But I would never hurt her. She was kind to me and I believe in her."

"I know you do," he said. "I've watched you, Vaggie." He gently stroked her hair in a soothing manner. "I know you care very much for my Charlie. She's lucky to have someone so loyal by her side."

Vaggie sniffled a little. "She deserves someone who didn't lie to her," she said softly.

Fizz looked thoughtful before smiling and looking at his son, signing something to him. The boy looked pensive for a bit, but then nodded, going up to the white-haired girl, who looked at him curiously and the boy reached up, lightly touching the mark over her left eye before looking at her, a sad look on his face. She smiled lightly. "It doesn't hurt," she said to him gently.

He smiled and hugged her, making her jump a little before she hugged him back, holding him protectively. Ozzy smiled as he saw this. "Was it worth it?" He asked her, making her look up at him. "Sparing the child's life?"

She took a deep breath and looked at Oliver before nodding. "Yes," she said. "I don't regret that."

Ozzy and Fizz both nodded and smiled. "Do you want us to talk to Charlie for you?" The rooster being asked.

Vaggie shook her head. "No, thank you," she said. "I...I"m going to give her space and...hope she'll be willing to talk to me later."

Fizz smiled. "I'm sure things will be fine," he said. "Charlie's a sweetie. She can't stay mad at you for long."

Lucifer smiled. "Boys, I think my cinnamon apple needs some laughter," he said.

"I agree," Ozzy said.

"Can I help?" Oliver asked.

"Of course, little dumpling," the white-suited being said with a smile.

Vaggie squeaked and surprised laughter escaped her as hands tickled her sides, neck, underarms, and stomach courtesy of the four. "AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" She laughed out.

"Look at that smile," Fizz said with a grin. "How can someone resist that adorable smile?"

"I think it's impossible to," Ozzy said, smiling himself.

"But of course she has an adorable smile," Lucifer said, smiling. "She's part of the family and everyone in the family has adorable smiles."

Vaggie blushed a bit at that as they let her up and helped her to her feet. She looked at them, finding them smiling at her warmly. "So...you guys are okay with...my past?" She asked.

"Is who you were in your past what you are today?" Fizz asked.

"No," she replied.

"Would you ever become what you were in your past again?" Ozzy asked.

"No," the girl replied, her voice firm.

"You wouldn't ever hurt me, would you?" Oliver signed and Fizz translated for him.

"No," she said, smiling at the boy.

"Would you change any part of it or let it define who you are today?" Lucifer asked.

"No, and no," Vaggie said as she realized why they were asking those questions.

"Then we have no issue with who you were in the past," Fizz said. "All we care about is that you don't hurt Charlie, which we know you won't."

"That you keep believing in her," Ozzy said.

"And that you keep being loyal to her," Lucifer said. "Okay, my cinnamon apple?"

She smiled and nodded. "By the way, why cinnamon apple?" She asked curiously.

"Well, Charlie is my sweet apple and cinnamon is nice, but has a kick of spice to it. You, my dear, are spicy like cinnamon with that personality of yours," he said, playfully pinching the left side of her face in affection.

Vaggie chuckled a bit bashfully, but she appreciated that Lucifer thought highly of her and she took a deep breath. "Okay," she said. "I better get back. I only hope Charlie will be willing to talk to me soon."

"I'm sure she will, hon," Ozzy said.

Oliver hugged her and she hugged him back. "Love you, cousin Vaggie," he signed.

"Love you too, squirt," she said, ruffling his hair.

"Keep your chin up, Angel Eyes," Fizz said, smiling.

Nodding, she headed out, keeping her chin up and promising herself that she wouldn't give up on Charlie and she'd still be loyal to her, even if Charlie decided to not trust her again or speak to her again.

Little did she know, things would work out and sooner than she expected.

I wanted to write this as soon as episode 6 ended, but I decided to wait and see how Charlie and Vaggie worked it out before doing so. Hope you all enjoyed it. :)

And yes, Lucifer calls his nephew 'little dumpling' as an affectionate nickname. :)
