( Justin is still alive in this one, he just got badly hurt and been in a coma for a few months and is now fully healed)
Voight exited his office, gently rubbing his eyes." Everyone, I believe it would be advisable to conclude our work for the night. We will be of no assistance to Erin or the young lady if we allow exhaustion to infiltrate our abilities," he expressed, expressing his displeasure at having to end the day's tasks.
Upon hearing Voight's directive, Jay displayed a frown and was prepared to voice his disagreement, but upon receiving Al's gaze, he decided against it. "Jay, it is imperative that we rest. Only by preserving our strength can we be of any aid to the young women," the elder gentleman stated, rising from his seat, retrieving his jacket, and exiting the bullpen. Ruzek, Antonio, and Atwater swiftly followed suit.
Jay gazed at Voight, who nodded in acknowledgement. "If any developments arise, you will be promptly informed," he assured, gesturing towards Jay. After gently touching Jay's shoulder, he continued, "Rest assured, we will get our girl back." Jay trailed behind his comrades as they made their way downstairs, offering a silent nod. "I am confident we will," he replied.
Voight emerged from the building and proceeded towards his truck. He halted in his tracks upon spotting his son approaching him with his hands tucked in his pockets.
'Hello, father,' Justin greeted as he made his way towards Voight and observed Jay exiting the station. Voight's gaze narrowed upon realizing that Erin was not accompanying the brown-haired individual.
'Why are you here?' Voight inquired while opening the door to his truck. He directed his attention towards Justin and gestured towards the direction his son was observing. Meanwhile, he observed Jay entering his vehicle and driving away.
'Is something amiss?' Justin queried, turning back to his father. Voight nodded towards his truck and instructed, 'Get in.' He settled into the driver's seat as Justin occupied the passenger seat.
'Dad, is everything alright? Where is Erin?' Justin inquired, fastening his seatbelt. He regarded Voight, who stroked his chin before responding. Voight noticed the concerned expression on his son's face and surmised, 'Did something transpire? I mean, doesn't Erin usually accompany Halstead?'
Voight took a deep breath as he exited the parking lot," Erin had been abducted this morning," he stated calmly as he drove home. "Wait, what? But by who?" Justin questioned with a concerned expression, leaning closer.
"Do you remember Charlie Pugliese?" Voight asked, locking eyes with Justin. "Yeah, who could forget a despicable person like him?" Justin clenched his fists, his voice filled with anger. "He took her," Voight revealed, observing his son's eyes turning blue with fury. "And you never informed me?" Justin inquired, hurt evident in his voice.
Voight let out a sigh as he pulled into the driveway of their house. "Because I didn't anticipate you visiting, and I preferred to spare both you and Olive from unnecessary worry," he explained, shifting the truck into park.
"I did come to visit. I tried calling Erin and you to let you know, but neither of you seemed to answer your phones," Justin stated, following his father inside the house where Olive and Danny awaited their arrival. "I suppose I now understand why."
Voight placed his keys and wallet on the table and hung up his coat. He expressed, 'Yes, we have been working on locating Erin,' as he walked toward his grandson. Olive inquired, 'Is everything alright?' as she stood up from the floor where she had been playing with her son.
Justin approached and embraced his wife. Attempting to not distress his son and wife, he assured, 'Everything is as fine as it can be.' Olive questioned Voight, 'What's the matter? What do you mean you're going to find Erin?'
Voight let out a sigh and replied, 'Erin was kidnapped this morning.' He gently placed his hand on Olive's shoulder. 'However, we have acquired a few leads, so we are hopeful to locate her soon.' Justin looked at his father and declared, 'I am assisting. We are here for a few weeks, and you'll need an extra set of eyes.'
Voight responded, 'You will not be involved in this, Justin.' He did not want his son to be harmed or experience any unfortunate incidents. He already had Erin to worry about and ensuring her safe return home.
Justin beseeched Voight, his hands clenched into fists, 'Come on, dad, I can be of assistance. Erin is my adopted sister, and you undeniably know that she would do the same for me.' Justin expressed his concerns.
'Who knows what Charlie is subjecting her to, or what he has already done to her? I promise to adhere to any instructions from you and Antonio, without crossing any boundaries.' Justin vowed, demonstrating his willingness to do whatever it takes to bring Erin back.
Voight attentively listened to Justin's plea and nodded, fully aware that Justin wouldn't follow any alternative advice. 'Very well, we'll commence our efforts tomorrow morning,' he stated, proceeding upstairs to prepare for bedtime.
While observing his father walk away, Justin glanced at Olive. 'What actions do you plan to take?' Olive inquired, as Justin scooped up Danny. 'I will assist my father in locating Erin, and if I happen to get hold of Pugliese, he will regret ever laying a hand on my family,' Justin declared, with Olive following closely behind him.
Upon entering his apartment, Jay diligently hung his keys on the hook, followed by his jacket. With the intention of grabbing a beer from the kitchen, he abruptly altered his plan and proceeded towards the bathroom instead.
As he undressed, his thoughts drifted to Erin, hoping that she had not encountered further harm. With a heartfelt sigh, Jay swiftly showered, mentally urging Erin to persevere while he dressed himself in sweatpants and a tank top.
Returning to the living room, Jay contemplated the television options, pondering whether the hawk game was airing. Just as he was about to sit down, a knock on the door interrupted his train of thought. Emitting another sigh, he reluctantly approached the door to ascertain the visitor's identity.
Peering through the peephole, Jay confirmed that it was his brother, Will. Opening the door, he inquired inquisitively, "Will, what brings you here?" Promptly, Will entered the apartment, bearing a six-pack of beer. "I simply came to check on your well-being," he replied.
Jay followed Will to the couch and sat down. 'I will be fine once we retrieve Erin,' he stated, leaning against the back of the couch and releasing a sigh.
'I apologize for not keeping better watch over Erin. I genuinely believed she had gone to the restroom or something. If I had known she would escape the hospital, I would have monitored her,' Will expressed.
Jay shrugged slightly. 'It was not your fault, Will. Erin is far too stubborn for her own good,' Jay replied, accepting the can of beer Will handed to him. 'Have you discovered any leads yet?' Will inquired, opening a can and taking a sip.
'We have located the person who took her, but we have yet to determine her whereabouts or his plans,' Jay revealed as he finished his beer and placed the empty can on the table.
Will nodded with a sigh. 'I have faith in you and the rest of the Intelligence team to find her. You always find a way,' he remarked.
Jay nodded with a faint smile. 'Thank you, Will,' he acknowledged. He glanced at a picture of him and Erin on the end table and couldn't help but release a sigh.
Will extracted a small box from his pocket and handed it to Jay. "Here, I believe Mother would want you to possess it," he conveyed.
Jay received the small box and proceeded to uncover its contents. "Mother's ring?" Jay inquired, directing his gaze at Will. "Are you certain?" Jay sought confirmation. Will emitted a brief chuckle in response. "Look, Jay, I possess a discerning understanding of your preferences," Will imparted while patting his elder brother on the shoulder.
"You will soon request it, and I have a premonition that you will also soon propose to Erin, provided you are able to overcome the obstacles posed by Voight and his son, Justin," Will prognosticate. Jay responded with laughter. "I suppose your reasoning holds merit," Jay acknowledged.
Jay inhaled deeply before voicing his query. "However, what leads you to be so confident that Erin would even accede to marrying me?" Jay inquired. Will shrugged indifferently.
"I have a hunch that she will, particularly considering the dynamic between you two. Furthermore, given that you have been in a relationship for several years, I believe it is time to solidify your commitment," Will expressed while patting Jay's shoulder, then proceeded to stand up.
"Anyway, I shall bid you farewell for now. Please do not hesitate to reach out if any further information arises," Will stated as Jay rose from his seat to accompany Will to the exit.
"Certainly," Jay responded, beaming with a smile. "You will be among the first to be informed," he assured Will as they made their way out of Jay's residence.
Once Will had departed and the door had been secured, Jay proceeded to return to his quarters. He turned off the television and tidied up the litter before retiring to his bedroom.
Jay settled into his bed, lying on his back and contemplating the small item before carefully stowing it within the drawer of the nightstand adjacent to his sleeping place. Subsequently, he extinguished the lamp illuminating the nightstand and directed his gaze towards the ceiling, eventually succumbing to sleep.
